This book has been so well researched. the behind the scenes life at a fictional London opera house is so vividly portrayed that I found it all quite fascinating and really want to go there! This is not just a straightforward boy meets girl romance, although the development and setbacks of the romance are an important part of the story. But we also have a story about computer security and what happens when it is breached, no matter how innocently. And we have surprises, and the rebuilding of sisterly bonds, and some magical city snow!

Quaint and quirky.
Not my usual genre I must admit but every now and again I fancy a good old bit of chic lit.
I'm glad I chose this book, which is easy to read and hard to put down, Tilly is a great character, really lovely and I really warmed to her throughout the story.
A few lighthearted twists and turns and an expected/unexpected office romance thrown into the mix made this a warm hearted Christmas tale full of good cheer and I will definitely pick up another of Jules Wake's books when I want a pick me up, great author.

Covent Garden in the snow is a great christmassy read that made me laugh a lot!!
Tilly is the main character in this book she works at the London Metropolitan Opera Company as a make up artist spending her time applying make up and constructing wigs and she loves her job. I didn't realise until reading this how much work goes into an operatic production but have total respect for how much work and planning goes into this. Tilly reminds me a bit of me with computers, she did make me laugh when her answer to halting emails being sent from opening a virus email was to simply unplug it!!! There are no plots or murders in this book but a lovely sense of Christmas, family and finding "the one" even if he was the exact opposite of Tilly. I loved how Tilly became closer to her mum and sister and didn't dwell on the past too much.
I would recommend this to read and although have read other books by Jules Wake I do feel this is her best!!
I would like to thank netgalley and HarperCollins publishers ltd, Harperimpulse for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Not read a book by this author before and I loved it and can't wait to read more!
Really well written, especially the chemistry between Tilly and Marcus. Some twists in the story but these were not surprising when you re-read it.

What a delightful read! I'm don't normally read cheesy Christmas romanes ,but the descriptio of this one intrigued me.it wasgreat fun and I liked the main characters. Tilly was a mess with computers but endearing. And the IT guy sounded scrumptious. I loved the way thesparks flew between them right away.

Tilly works as a make-up artist for the London Metropolitan Opera Company and she loves her job and the people she works with. Until she meets Marcus, the new IT director. She hates everything he stands for – namely computers – and he doesn’t seem to like her very much, especially after she accidentally infects the entire theatre computer system with a virus. Unfortunately, if she wants to keep her job, Tilly has to learn to use computers without causing mayhem, so she finds herself spending more and more time with Marcus and the attraction she feels for him may not just be caused by her fiance’s disinterest in her. In the meantime, Tilly is also working to improve her strained relationship with her sister and her estranged family.

This is a very enjoyable and entertaining novel. The characters are well-drawn and, at least most of them, likable, while the plot is captivating and fresh. Tilly is a bit naive but she is also funny and loyal and is surrounded by a group of family and friends that support her. A romantic and hilarious novel with a beautiful and snowy Christmas atmosphere.

Tilly Hunter is a wig maker in an Opera Company in London. Unfortunately she's a technophobe which gets her into scrapes. Enter the suit, Marcus and feathers fly. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and thank NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for letting me read it. I must add here that the cover was beautiful too - just right for the season. I shall post this on Amazon and my blog.

This was such a lovely read, with an intelligent and witty touch that I’ve really enjoyed. It’s a sweet and easy to read romance, with an interesting plotline and multi-layered and complex characters. And set in London, wonderful!
The heroine is a great character, her lack of computer literacy is very well done, I think many of us will identify with her
The hero, His Royal ITness, The Prince of Darkness, is an awesome character too, handsome, reliable and steady. His exasperation and patience are so funny to watch… And his loyalty is so appealing…
I loved the insight into the behind the scenes of an opera company based in London, it's very vivid and believable.

I've been a big fan of this author since her 'With Love' series. I was over the moon earlier in the year when I heard there was a new book coming out, as it has felt so long since the last. I was even more delighted when I saw it was another Christmas book - 'From Paris with Love....' currently stood at being my favourite! BUT this one has knocked it off that Number 1 position - Covent Garden in the Snow is Jules Wake's BEST book to date!!

Tilly works at the London Metropolitan Opera Company in the make-up department. She loves every part of her job apart from anything that involves using the computer. When an email she sends (to her boyfriend Felix) ends up going out to the whole of the opera company, and she downloads a virus, she ends up in a whole heap of bother! Luckily, new IT Director Marcus has just started and Tilly is forced to work alongside him to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Oh the wonderful Tilly, I knew she was my kind of girl as soon as she unplugged that computer in the hope of making everything work again. Just like her I am completely useless with all forms of technology and when something fails, I reach straight for that plug socket too! Not only was she so relatable, she is also the most witty character I've come across in a long while! I was in fits of giggles (out loud may I add) on so many occasions. From all the authors characters in previous books, she is without doubt my favourite female! Like, lets just have another book from Tilly...

This book also offers an interesting insight into the behind the scenes and backstage goings on of the theatre world. I really enjoy going to see musicals and things at the theatre myself and, you don't really give a great deal of thought to how much work goes in to make a show work and everything look so spot on. I feel a great deal of research went into this book, in fact you can tell a great deal did! It was really interesting to hear about little things, such as how the wigs are made, and how a costume change is so accurately and precisely done in a matter of seconds, how backstage crews always wears black... I definitely learnt something new from reading.

I particularly enjoyed the little email conversations going on in the story, I put two and two together early on but by no means did it take any enjoyment from the story - in fact I think I enjoyed it more being a step ahead of Tilly and knowing what was coming. I liked how internet safety was brought into it, like Tilly I think you forget and sometimes just don't realise what you're putting out there.

The chemistry between characters is one of the reasons I thoroughly enjoy this authors work and, wow, Tilly and Marcus absolutely had it! I loved their banter and snarky comments with each other - they constantly had me smiling. If you can find me my own Marcus, then I'll happily indulge in learning IT! Along with Tilly being my favourite female character, Marcus is definitely my favourite male from all the books, too.

Whilst this states it's a Christmas book, it's more focused around the holiday period than sticking Christmas in your face. There's a scene describing Covent Garden at Christmas which sounds magical with all the lights (living in Yorkshire I've never experienced it, but maybe one day) There's lots of snow, and a wonderful little scene with some snowman building and snow ball fights. There are also little relationship stories with Tilly's sister and Mum added in, which are lovely heart felt moments making it a wonderfully cosy read for the winter months.

I think I may of gushed a little with this review but, it absolutely deserves it. With the authors easy flowing writing, this book ooozes wittiness, warmth and flirty moments. Buy this book, put up a do not disturb sign and enjoy indulging in every page - you won't be disappointed!

I started this book not knowing what to expect,I had never read any previous books by the author and being honest it was not my usual genre choice......it quickly became a very pleasant surprise,,the story is playful yet intriguing and draws you in,it takes a special kind of author to bring alive a Opera House ( where most of the story is set ) and by the end of the book feel you have learnt about something you had previously no knowledge of,its quirky, exciting and fun....the charcters are immediately likeable and in some cases the opposite!! and I felt an affinity with the main character that I hadnt expected, its Christmassy and warm and cute and cuddly and yet still has ‘major cliff hanger’ moments,,I thoroughly enjoyed the book amd will be looking at other books by the author,if your lookimg for a book leading up to or including Christmas then this book is for you, loved it and was genuinely sorry when I finished it

Tilly works in the make up department of the London Metropolitan Opera Company. Tilly is good at her job which she absolutely loves, the only thing she dislikes about her job is if she has to use the computer, she is a complete technophobe. When she downloads a virus and then sends an email to the entire opera company she gets into all sorts of trouble. Enter Marcus the new IT Director, who has the difficult task of teaching Tilly how to use her computer efficiently.

Tilly is engaged to Felix but finds herself attracted to Marcus as they spend time together and when she discovers all is not as it seems with Felix, Marcus is there to provide support.

The story is quirky and fun with some endearing characters, Tilly is smart, loyal and devoted to her job, the author’s attention to detail was impressive and her research of the area was spot on. A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas story.

Had me laughing from the first page!

There was something about Tilly's utter uselessness with computers that had me interested in her character almost instantly. It may have had something to do with her clicking on an attachment called "Santa Baby" or that yanking a plug out is her way of rebooting a computer, but she endeared herself to me very fast.

The other thing that struck me very quickly in this story is just obviously it was set in Covent Garden and how well either the author knows the area or researched it at around Christmas time. There were mentions of details or events that I just wouldn't have expected to see such as the Christmas lego display and the Christmas pudding race (which my family is involved with somehow, and I've never met anyone else that has heard of it!).

It was the attention to detail throughout that impressed me, the behind the scenes at an opera company, as just how the wigs are created and some of the costume changes that aren't seen were so impressive. I'm a fan of the theatre so seeing this level of detail really interested me, and added a lot to the overall picture for me.

Then there was Marcus, who is the IT Guru come to show Tilly the error of her technophobic ways! He grew on me as the book progressed. There is far more to him than first meets the eye, and I only 100% put two things together perhaps a chapter or so before Tilly.

I enjoyed seeing how Tilly's relationship with her sister changed over the course of the book, and in fact with her parents too.

Covent Garden in the Snow hits all the right notes for an entertaining and highly enjoyable story this Christmas, I loved it.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

It’s coming up on Christmas, and Tilly Hunter is happier than she’s ever been. She has a wonderful fiance, a great job doing make-up for an opera company and super friends. The only fly in the ointment is the new IT director, Marcus, that Tilly has to work with. My god, does the man ever smile? She’s stuck with him for now, so she has to make the best of it, even if he is kind of a knob. But then Tilly’s fiance proves to be less than trustworthy. Whose shoulder does Tilly find herself crying on? None other than the knob, who turns out to be not such a bad guy after all, in fact he’s kind of nice….. Funny, sweet and snarky
