I'm a total fan of this beautiful and charming wee book. It certainly is a delight and the perfect treat for every chrochet fan and if you love the well known classic of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, you will find here the most delightful inspiration to start crocheting.

The book offers the whole Wizard of Oz story and after each chapter you will find the instructions to create the characters you've just met in the text.
They are all there, the Munchkins, the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, you name it, even the water pail to get rid of the very wicked witch is there.
Cheerful photos show you the finished results and they alone are pure entertainment and fun.

The skills needed range from easy all the way up to a bit more advanced intermediate skills, but to me all looked manageable and I found the instructions very well and thoroughly.
Personally I would suggest for the less experienced crochet fan to start with the yellow brick road, which is of course now a yellow woolly road, and then to put on the sparkly silver shoes and go from there to finally meet the famous Wizard of Oz.

Lovely and very well put toghether crochet fan material. Highly recommended.

All you crochet people out there and fans of the famous old movie, this is a great book to get your hands on! It’s well laid out and has some really well thought-out designs. It starts out with an abbreviation page and quickly moves into the CUTE stuffies you can make. Everyone in my family has a favorite and they are all different. I’m also encouraged that I can use the pattern to make my own designs with choosing different colors if I want. Pick up your copy today!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun crochet book! Olski perfectly captured the whimsy of Oz with her amigurumi characters. I liked most of the characters but thought that some of the patterns could have been left out (the Emerald City spectacles, and the golden cap, for instance) but overall, a fun book for crocheters.

I also appreciated the book excerpts scattered throughout.

Dover craft books are typically well-illustrated and appealingly photographed. This one is no exception. The instructions are detailed and well-organized. Each project features a photograph of the finished doll as well as a list of materials needed. Projects are identified by skill level--easy and intermediate, However, beginning crocheters may find some of the "easy" projects daunting. We especially liked the "Cowardly Lion" doll. The book includes "The Wizard of Oz" text interspersed with nineteen patterns for characters and accessories. For the crochet and fabric arts enthusiast.

This Wizard of Oz story accompanied with patterns inspired by the characters is absolutely perfect! It reminds me of a crochet-a-long that you can read-a-long to. I recommend this for book clubs & book lovers who crochet. I'll definitely be reading The Wizard Of Oz after this!

A Wizard of Oz book for the multi-tasker that includes crochet patterns for all the characters in the book plus the story to go along with it. Crochet patterns are easy to understand and the finished products are very cute! A perfect book for every Oz fan!

This is a lovely book of crochet patterns for a variety of characters from L. Frank Baum's “The Wizard of Oz”. The figures included are: Dorothy, Toto, Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, a Munchkin, Good Witch of the North, Wicked Witch of the East (House and Shoes), Yellow Brick Road, Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion, Poppy, Emerald City Spectacles, the Wizard of Oz, Wicked Witch of the West, Golden Cap, Winged Monkey, Water Bucket, and Glinda.

In addition to the patterns, there is a very short version of the story included with some cute photos of the crochet characters.

The crochet instructions are written and are in US format. There are some short instructions with respect to stitches but do not include any photographs and drawings depicting stitches. The type of yarn used for the figures is provided but you can use any yarn you wish. It will potentially make a difference in the size of your finished character. I noticed that the designer used a wide range of yarn brands rather than focusing on just one. I generally choose a brand for a project in amigurumi as the size of the characters and their accessories will stay consistent.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

This is a story book of the Wizard of Oz accompanied by crochet pattern of the characters in the story. They are quite easy to make and measure from around 12cm to 27cm and are absolutely adorable. The winged monkey is particularly cute.
What a lovely gift this would make for an aunty, or grandparent to make for that special person in their life. The pattern can easily be adapted to finger puppets and would make an entertaining story time

A clever idea with clearly written instructions. I'd suggest it for an intermediate crocheted. I think it would be a challenge to a beginner.

This book was so much fun. Who doesn't love The Wizard of Oz? And with this there are the patterns for the characters in the book, so they can come to life. I think children would especially love this. The book is an abridged version of the book, but it works well with the crocheting patterns and to tell the story. Great fun for all!

While I don't think my crochet skills are up to the patterns in this wonderful book, I was delighted with it from start to finish. The instructions are clear and complete. The gallery is delightful as is the story running throughout the book.
If you are an OZ fan or a crocheter or need something special to make for a grandchild or church bazaar, you can not go wrong with this beautiful book.

An excellent resource for teacher's and students. One that I highly recommend for early literature classes.

A fun storybook-meets-craft book, perfect for anyone who loves the Wizard of Oz. This would also be a lovely book to use to make a play set for kids (or adults!) who are fans of the movie. I also think this would be a fun "group" read/project for kids--since this contains an abridged version of the story, it would be fun to read a chapter, and then use some of the basic patterns as a way to teach kids how to crochet, as many of the heads and bodies are simple single crochet spheres.

The few patterns that I dipped into--I did not complete them, but did start them to test out the patterns--were well written and would be easy to adapt to whatever stash yarn you have. It was a bit odd for a book like this to use such a huge variety of yarn brands, but as with most crocheted toys, the yarns used are more suggestions than requirements. The characters themselves are very detailed, but there are no projects higher than an "intermediate" skill level. All of the facial features are embroidered, which is excellent for making these for babies and kids, but it also seemed to expect some skill in that crafting department, so keep that in mind if, like me, you can't embroider very well.

I don't rate craft books, but if I did, this would get a solid 3.5 stars.

The Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic. In this book it is re-told in 12 chapters interspersed with 19 crochet patterns of characters mentioned in the chapters just read. Each pattern is graded by skill level with 9 graded as Easy and 10 as Intermediate. You have patterns for each character, including the Munchkins and Winged Monkeys and even one of the Wicked Witch of the West before and after. A charming pattern book with a classic story.

A wonderful combination of patterns and story. Includes a great variety of characters and extras, something for everyone.

As soon as I showed my mom the book, she said she wants one of all of them. The characters are so cute, there is even the house that fell on the witch with her legs sticking out under it. I think I counted 20 patterns, so there is a lot of fun to be had. Both crocheting them and playing with the finished characters. A few different weights and types of yarn were used. So if you are using the suggestions that are on each pattern, there could be a big expense to make the whole set. If you're not picking, I don't see why you couldn't just use up your existing yarn stash and change hooks according to the size yarn you choose. That's what I plan on doing.
