Jess Phillips is funny and honest, which made Everywoman an enjoyable read. The chapter on domestic abuse gave me a lot of food for thought and challenge me to see domestic abuse from another perspective. She is obviously passionate about her work and it comes through in her writing.
I found some reference to UK politics difficult to relate to, as I'm not from the UK.
Overall, good read.

Must-read for just about every woman growing up (or grown up) in the UK. Phillips is genuine, forthright and dogged about her beliefs in feminism, women's rights and helping as many people as possible. She's not afraid to criticise even those on her own side and she's not playing a political game.

Her book explains how she grew up, the political background in her family, her own push to become an MP and her experiences of raising a family. Her background with Women's Aid is also discussed heavily, and her knowledge of women's issues is great. Her stories about online abuse are fairly harrowing and the whole way through her book, the reality of just being a woman in the spotlight is a clear burden.

This is an honest story from a working class woman who's brave when it comes to speaking up- even when it's not easy.

This book is so painfully honest about the many challenges and stereotypes women face. I like how Jess writes in a forceful way but at the same time admitting her insecurities and showing how she outshines despite them.

You will not agree with everything she writes but you will laugh at some examples she gives and learn a thing or 10.
