Lara Ashburn left the biker lifestyle behind in California, in favor of a normal life as a teacher in Louisiana. Strategically located a few hours from her bother who is imprisoned in Mississippi, Lara is able to compartmentalize that part of her life. LaGrange, Louisiana is home to another MC club, and Lara feels compelled to try and help those who are in the life, but may not know there are ways out.

Ryan "Chaser" Frey is the enforcer for the Devil's Keepers MC in LaGrange. He also happens to be the father of one of Ms. Ashburn's students. After receiving 7 calls from the teacher, Chaser arrives at the school to determine what the urgency was. Sparks fly between Lara and Chaser, surprising them both.

This is a quick, but fast-paced read. I enjoyed it!

4 out of 5 stars.

Lara Ashburn knows more than she cares to reveal about bikers. She has built herself a new life as a teacher in the town of Lagrange in Louisiana. She is relentless in trying to keep her students safe and thriving but one of her students is on the verge of being expelled. She seeks out Ryan "Chaser" Frey about his daughter.

Chaser is the enforcer for the Devil's Keepers MC, he doesn't have time for some uptight teacher who seems to have his phone on speed dial. When Chaser meets Lara though, he is attracted to the mouthy woman who has no problem going toe to toe with him. Attraction is instant and Chaser can't get enough of Lara. He never wanted a woman by his side but the more time he spends with Lara, the more he doesn't want to let her go. There is more to Lara then she wants to reveal and with his club in the middle of looming chaos, Chaser has to decide if he should let Lara go.

I liked this one, the MC is a bit darker then I am used to but really enjoyed the chemistry between Chaser and Lara. I need to go back and read the other books in the series to figure out the other characters. Very entertaining.

Alpha biker meets school teacher. A little cliche but it works for Chaser and Lara. She has the touch to soothe the savage beast.
There was a little too much inner monologue. Sometimes it would be a couple pages of thoughts and I would forget what the last person said to illicit a response. In real life, you’d look stupid standing there for a couple minutes, lost in thought while someone waits for you to continue the conversation.
Alls well that ends well. I gave it 4 stars.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Unfortunately, while I enjoy this author, this book unfortunately did not resonate with me. While I’m a fan of this author, I did not finish this book. However, I look forward to more books by this author in the future.

I have really been enjoying all of Megan Crane's books in the Devil's Keepers series and can not wait for more to come out. The writing truly allows you to connect with each character and feel their emotions and passions. Devil's Own was both sexy and entrancing. I felt sucked into the story and emotionally invested. Great read!

DEVIL'S OWN - Megan Crane

HOT BIKER ROMANCE! - 4 stars

#3 in the Devil's Keepers MC series

Plot - 4 stars - Lara is Kaylee's teacher and is concerned about her recent activities in school. So she contacts Kaylee's father, the biker enforcer Chaser. Lara's and Chaser's immediate attraction to each other is epic, and they end up having sex in her classroom minutes after meeting. Extremely hot, but, of course, totally unrealistic. As the story continues, they try to fight their reaction to each other, but both can't resist.

Writing - 4.5 stars - Crane always grabs me right from the very first page, and this series is particularly sexy. She writes in a totally erotic style that reaches me and grips me, setting the stage for a hot romance.

Characters - 4 stars - Chaser is the typical hot, uncaring, self-centered biker guy who thinks of women as lesser mortals and only uses them for sex. So when he starts having "feelings" for Lara, he's completely confused and unsettled. Lara, for her part, thinks of Chaser as her "heroin." She grew up in the biker lifestyle and has tried to break away, but she finds she's attracted beyond reason to him and can't seem to resist. Both are uncomfortable with the situation, but they keep moving forward. I liked their strength and their "normalcy." Chaser is this crazily violent guy, but Crane focuses on his fatherhood and his caring for Lara and the fact that he lives in a suburban neighborhood. She gives us an inside look at him, seeing him through Lara's eyes and not focusing on his biker lifestyle as much. This made him an excellent alpha hero without the scariness. Lara, for her part, has grown strong because of her upbringing, and she's really tried to turn her life around. Some of her life was left a little unresolved: how will the school board feel about her living with a biker? how does the sheriff react to her new lifestyle with Chaser? But I really related to her struggle to face unpalatable things in her life and her openness to people and situations and her ability to deal with them even when they're out of her comfort zone. Very appealing couple despite their obvious drawbacks. Not people I'd normally want to hang around with, for sure.

Title - 3.5 stars - I suppose this has to do with the fact that Lara understands the lifestyle and fits right in. Chaser marks her as his own right from the beginning.

Cover - 3.5 stars - Typical romance cover, but who can argue with hot abs?

Overview - 4 stars - Another Megan Crane winner that grabbed my attention right from the beginning and didn't let go. She's able to build the sexual feeling and keep the story moving forward without losing the reader's interest. The characters are well built and make sense within the story. The sex scenes are extremely hot--she sure knows how to write 'em! I found the characters appealing, with intelligence and vulnerabilities.

Lara's character was amazing--such a menagerie of identities. I love that she is a teacher, who wants to use her experience to save others just like her. But then her sassiness next to all the prim and proper is amazing! When she refers to Chaser's boy scout patches, I wanted to stand and cheer. However she has that vulnerability, too. Megan Crane could not have said it any better. She was looking for a bad ass who wouldn't be bad to her. My favorite line: "She was his catnip." Great read!

I loved this book and this series. How can you turn down a bad boy biker series? I am looking forward to reading more from this author and this series.

I absolutely love Megan Crane's novels. Whether I'm reading one of her Dystopian/Viking romances or an MC series, I can't help but get lost in the sexy times and connection between her hero and heroines. Gahh! I thought Devil's Own was fantastic. Lara was sexy and sassy and the perfect match to the dark and brooding alpha growly biker. I honestly loved them together!

Devil's Own is a standalone novel but is best enjoyed in conjunction with the other Devil's Keepers books. What happens when the big and bad Chaser finally meets his match in a prim and proper school teacher who knows her way around a bike and the club life. Can they make it work or will their respective pasts come back and kill any chances they have of being together?

I REALLY liked this book. I loved the storyline and their chemistry and their connection. My only drawback from this book was the tremendous amount of inner monologue. I wanted to see MORE snappy banter and sass and interaction. At times I almost wanted to skim the pages and pages of inner monologue and thoughts just to see them interact out loud. It was frustrating at times. All in all, this was a great book and I hope we get more from this author in this series.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I'm fascinated with stories about motorcycle club (MC) culture. I can't tell if recollections of constant threats of violence and the need to "protect my woman" at all costs are so hyper-fictionalized, or real. Yes, this is fiction, but I just have a hard time connecting with any of the characters in this joiner culture. Crane has a great voice; I just wish the MC macho-ness was a little more turned down.

An enjoyable book by a new to me author. Not my typical genre, but I'd enjoy reading more of the series.

This was a great read. With wonderful off the charts chemistry, And there's plots and twists that would leave you thinking twice, at least for me it was.

Not my favorite of the series - #2 was. The hero was ok. The heroine was ok. Her hate of MCs then quick switch made my head spin. The chemistry/attraction didn't really work for me as a reader and I was ehhh about the whole thing.

Just when I thought I couldn't get enough of "Sons of Anarchy" style motorcycle club action & romance, Crane delivers a scintillating tale from deep within the bayou. It's a wild ride.

For SOA fans, this series will be a new favorite. Lara has escaped the outlaw life and everything that has tied her to it. When her brother is transferred from California to a prison in Mississippi, she settles in Lagrange, LA. There she finds herself right in a nest of biker drama. The drama she finds in Chaser's arms could lead her right back to where she vowed she didn't want to be...

This story was not for me, I get that others loved it, but I didn't, and I do love some biker stories, now one of the things dad I did appreciate was that there wasn't cheating. Ok So we have Lara, a teacher, who hated bikers, due to her history with them, she grew up surrounded by them. She meets Chaser, who is one of her students father, and they go head to head. Chaser does not want to deal with an up tight teacher, boy was he wrong. So 15 minutes in, and they are having sex- way to hold out Lara, what happened to your views that bikers woman were either "old lady" or whores" And then Chaser, I get he is supposed to love his daughter, but then he constantly leaves her to his nut case sister, to go have sex, or club business, what is up with that. Any who.. that will be all
