I found this graphic novel rather confusing. You probably have to already know the story a bit more before you can fully understand what the story is all about. The graphics are not bad, but I wish the characters had better eyes.

Here's an historical figure we learn very little about. I was intrigued to learn about his life, to turn him into a more real person. I struggled with this book, though. I found the narrative hard to follow, the characters difficult to distinguish.

This is a very comprehensive retelling of Marco Polo's life. While I enjoyed the medieval, illustrated-manuscript- like illustrations, younger readers might not find them accessible.

I never knew that there was so much fascinating stuff about Marco Polo.

This is the kind of work that pleases both the spirit and the eyes, and takes the reader alongside Polo from his home in the Mediterranean, to the land of Kublai Khan and back again through a wonderful blend of storytelling and fantastic artwork. A wonderful addition to anyone or any library's graphic novel collection.
