While the photography is good, the content is just not enough to satisfy even mid-elementary grades. Might be good for preK - 2nd but only for those with a passing interest.

This is a great introduction to drones for a young elementary audience. Bright, bold colors and photos accompany a couple paragraphs on each page. At only 32 pages, it's not overwhelming.

Drones and robots are the new zombies in kids' literature, but unlike zombies, they are real and fast- approaching being part of our everyday lives. A drone flew over my head the other day as I was walking my dogs in our small town. I learned from Mary Lindeen's Drones and Flying Robots that it is illegal to shoot down a drone even if it is your back yard. Kids will love this book with its stunning graphics and fascinating facts. I will use it with my tutoring students to spark an interest in science and engineering, to include in their creative writing, and to discuss issues of privacy and safety. (NetGalley provided the e-ARC exchange for an honest review.)

Drones and Flying Robots is a great look at drones aimed at elementary and early middle school kids. Lindeen shows the many uses of drones, their features and varied abilities. The photos were really good and I enjoyed the many 'factoids' interspersed within the reading. Kids will enjoy Drones and Flying Robots and it would make a great addition to any library.
