This title was a Did Not Finish. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect with it whether it be for characters, story-line or writing style.

Thank you for providing me with a copy.

Holy
Crap.
This book was incredibly badass.
Words cannot describe…
I'm utterly speechless.
Who the heck thought I'd be into novels revolving around assassins, benefactors, gangsters, drug dealers, assassination agencies…. But this book.. Yes, the synopsis appealed to me -a lot. But now that I've finished this book, I realized how understated a synopsis can be…
I rooted for every single character out there. But what made me adore (yes I used a pretty heavy word here) this novel is the fact that every single character is unpredictable; especially Val and Kyle. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Not trusting THE MAIN FRIGGIN CHARACTER. That's how you know you've written a good book.
Valerie was complicated in her own way. I loved her totally kickass, callous and cruel front she puts up. Super professional and totally unsympathetic. Selfish but selfless, coldhearted but deeply loving and affectionate. She' s a walking contradiction; she was taught not to feel, not to love, not to care. But here's a side-effect; when she does feel, it's tremendously intense. A professional assassin that does her job perfectly. I'm not the least bit embarrassed to say that she is one of the very few female protagonists that I truly admire and look up to.
Kyle… I cannot talk about him without swooning every two seconds. His sentimentality was such a friggin turn on. I admired every single thing about him. I cannot even comment on anything. Perfect, that's what he is. His 'family comes first' stance on everything was so damn attractive. His past of breakups and their effect on his ability to easily fall for Val was just too much to handle. He's got this bad boy with a dark past thing going on without being a bad boy because he's literally the sweetest little shit I've ever encountered. I can't even.
Can we already skip to my favorite character?
*drumroll please..*
Rick. Short for Richard. Aka the new love of my life. Good looks? Check. The friend that's always there whenever and however you needed them? Check. SARCASM? Double check. I personally thought he was the most essential part of the book. I actually cannot imagine it without him being in the picture. His relationship with Kyle literally made me lose it; I'd either laugh hysterically, swoon, or sob my eyeballs out. There's literally no in-between
All in all, this book was exceptional. And mind you, perfect, to a T as Val would say. Don't want to scare anyone off, but this novel is nominated to be my favorite contemporary to be read in year 2017, (or may I say, ever?).

DNF - no review left. I wasn't able to get past 15% on this one - the writing was ok but the story was confusing
