Family Lies Deadly Ties by J.A Marx does not fall into one category. It is a spiritual, romantic, thriller. I have rated this novel 4 stars which is a HUGE compliment considering I am not in the least bit religious, however, I could see past the many bible quotes and references and appreciate the heart racing yet beautiful love story developing in front of me.

This is a novel that will keep you guessing right to the end. It will have you suspicious of everyone. It will have you rooting for the under dog and most surprisingly for me it may open your mind to a higher power or at least fill you with positivity. As much as this is an extremely dark thriller it is also an uplifting, feel good story.

I particularly enjoyed Rylee's relationship with the twins. Having been a nanny myself Marx did an excellent job at portraying just how much you can love these children and what you will do to keep them out of harms way.

I have to say the character development is the strongest aspect of this novel, despite the story line. Everyone you come across has a purpose and such a defined personality. I loved being introduced to new characters and knew I wouldn't be disappointed by their back story.

Child sex trafficking is a serious topic that runs below the surface before it reaches a grand finale towards the end of this story. It is shown for the truly disgusting trade it is and how the unlikeliest of characters can be involved. It may be too upsetting for some readers.

It's difficult to decide who this book should be recommended to as I don't feel I am the typical reader of this genre but it had me hook, line and sinker. If the story reaches out to you, give it a chance, be open minded and see where it takes you.
