I get it. Sometimes the one you’re meant to be with starts as a really good friend and one or both of you don’t realize it. But the way the book was executed didn’t always work. Overall a decent book.

I feel like this is a very relatable book which I liked. I think that it is something that has happened to a lot of people. It's a nice, easy read so if you're looking for something to read on a lazy Sunday afternoon then this might be the book for you.

This was my first book by this author and although the blurb had me hooked I felt the overall storyline was very drawn out and long. The heroine really got on my nerves and as much as I tried to be sympathetic and relate I found it very hard. I would give this author another go just this book didn't do it for me.

Okay… how do I start this…, this is frustrating for me. well, the fact that this frustrates me, tells me the story stirs something in me and probably good..😃
They are just friends… but BS on that! its frustrating that they have feelings for each other and not admit it. dammit!😠
I can understand if during college. but hell, it will save time if the boy man up and admit feelings to his best friend than lie..maybe because he is not sure yet. that is damn BS..!

And the scene where they had sex and the boy is sleeping??? what in hell??? is that even for real? I can’t even…

..and the most frustrating of all, they are not happy and they both know it! I am now contemplating if I am gonna read the next or leave it just like that…. 😫

To people who need to find the right time to make it work. Love books with friends to lovers. Kent and Elly had to find their way to one another. Good read

Gah! I love friends to lovers romance. Marie Cole is super talented.

Kent and Elly have know each other since they were kids. Both were unique and different growing up but best friends. Both loved each other but they never told each other. Kent ends up with Jen after several years. She is not a good fit for him. Kent and Elly do not end up being single at the same time for a long time. Elly has bad luck with men. They have a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book. it is a long book but we'll worth the wait. But do like the box set better as you get to enjoy it all together. Have left review on Amazon.uk and thanks for letting me review a great book.

I couldn't put the book down and was late to work because I couldn't wait to see what happened. I know this was a first in a series, but I was hoping for a little more resolution and not a "to be continued" type ending.

As far as the story goes, I liked Elly, but kinda wished she wasn't so in love with Kent to the point of taking any little scrap of attention he was willing to give her. Clearly, he was torn between his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Jen, and his love for his childhood friend, Elly. That's probably what kept me from disliking Kent. I know this is the first in a series so I hope things work out for these two kids.

I received this book for free from Netgalley. I was not required to review it.
I enjoyed it alot. It had angsty unrequited love in it. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased the next book in the series. I really wanted to find out how it ended.

* Received for an honest review.*
I hate writing bad reviews, but i have to be honest. This book was not for me. At all.
I tried and tried to like it, but it didn't happen. I felt like this book had potential to be really good, but the story dragged and the characters were horrible. Elly was naive and kind of creepy. It starts out with her new found confidence after she lost a whole bunch of weight. First, I don't like that she had to lose about 100 pound for this guy to want to fuck her. She literally said yes to anyone who would ask her out. There was a lot about this book I wasn't a fan of, but Kent was the major reason. Can i be honest here? Kent was a total fuckboy. He has been dating Jess for years and now that Elly lost a lot of weight he keeps kissing her and touching her. There was also a section in the book where it could be considered rape. They continue to kiss and sleep with each other even clear up to the night before his wedding day. One minute he is telling Elly that he wants her and loves her so much, but then he still dates Jess and even MARRIES her!He literally just fucked Elly the night before, wakes up and marries Jess, and then Elly walks in on her giving Kent a blow job in the bathroom at the reception....WTF? I won't be reading the next book in the series. Kent was a total prick and Elly was annoying. She just couldn't accept the fact that Kent wasn't hers. Cheating is never okay and I don't like when boys play with girls just because they can't decide which one they want. He would run to Elly when Jess was being a bitch, but continued to choose Jess over Elly. He didn't even seem to feel bad that he was cheating. At one point in the book Kent let Jess give him a hand job in front of Elly in her room while they were all watching a movie. He took Elly's virginity and she made it obvious how she felt about him, but he thought this was okay? I think both girls should have ditched Kent and told him to fuck off.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for an unbiased opinion.

The main character is unlikable. Things that would almost make her likable are hinted at but never fully acknowledged.

The romantic triangle is just ridiculous.

And the entire book goes from borderline rapey to downright porny (and no one has ever referred to me as a "prude").

So happy it's done.

I thought the book started off well, but half way through I began to feel frustrated by the main character Elly, I just didn't relate to her at all. I found the story quite predictable and drawn out, I'm not too interested in the next book, I have a feeling I know how it will end up.

This was a really long and painful book to end in a cliffhanger. I really would have preferred to include their HEA in this book. I hated the way they treated each other and I wanted them to just quit being being friends.

Just Friends by Marie Cole was a cute friends to lovers romance.
Elly and Kent have been the best of friends from an early age, as they got older feelings started to make way. But they were to afraid to admit the truth. The ending left me speechless........ just..... I can't.....
Very excited to read the next book in the series.

Elly has been in love with her best friends since they were kids. Now she is a college student and recently lost a lot of weight and returns to school and is desperate for Kent to finally notice her. The only problem is that his girlfriend, who they both went to high school with, isn't willing to give him up.

This was an extremely long and drawn out story. You won't get a HEA ending, at least not in this book. Their story will be continued in a second book, however, I'm not sure I can keep reading this story. The first book was too long in my opinion and as much as I want to find out what happened to them ten years later, I'm not sure I have it in me to continue reading this series at the moment.

*parts of the book contain cheating, both emotional and physical, and may not be for everyone.

This was a fun book and I liked how it had a different ending to what I expected. It wasn't the right sort of read to review on my blog but it was still really enjoyable.

I am not going to harp on why I didn't like this book, maybe it just wasn't more me. It seemed very immature to me. And the ending!! AHHHH!

While the I thought I would love this story based on the description, I had a hard time connecting with the characters in this book. I had a hard time grasping how the h fell into bed with someone instead of having "pizza" and her best friend, whom she was in love with, laughing it off. I really wanted to enjoy this, as I love friends to lovers books, but I just could not get into the way I wanted, I have read other books by Marie Cole that I have loved, so I will definitely read another one.

** spoiler alert ** Let's talk about it. I devoured this series. I could not bear to do anything else until I finished it. As a HEA book, we know it's going to get there eventually but this journey was quite the rollercoaster in the dark. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoying books that allow you to *squee* with both happiness and anger (Maddox series)

Spoiler:

(I had to subtract one star because I really wanted Elly to have had at least one serious relationship over the span between books 2-3)
