There is no woman like a southern woman, if you have too ask what that means then your not southern. Sarah Booth is strong , vibrant and back after a few hiccups along away the she's dancing herself again will still conducting business. I love reading about this woman and they people that the author has surrounded them with them . This series has always been colorful and charming and yes even a little dark but still shine bright.

Sarah Booth Delaney is at it again in Sticks and Bones as she seeks to find out what really happened to Son in his traffic accident years ago and the murders and accidents that continue to plague his family. Filled with flamboyant and nasty characters, fast action and interesting pets and ghosts Carolyn Haines delivers another interesting Southern Saga. Great cover introduces the book.

I have enjoyed all of the books in the Sarah Booth Delaney series and this one was not a disappointment. I enjoy Ms. Haines writing style and love the way she describes Zinnia. There were twists and turns through out the story and is full of action. I like the wide cast of characters that we've met throughout the series and enjoyed 'visiting' with them in this book.

This was a book that I didn't want to put down until I finished and then was sad that I'll have to wait another year for the next one.

I love Sarah and Tinkie as they run their PI business and get involved in their small town life Mississippi. This story has them involved in the McFee family as a film crew arrives to document the "accident" that killed two family members a few years earlier. With some strange happenings the director hires Sarah's firm to investigate their deaths. Lots of action arises with the loyal McFee neighbors and the folks that thinks a family member caused the car crash. One of the best in the 17 book Sarah Booth Delaney series. I enjoy Carolyn Haines writing style and she has many titles besides the ones in this series. Always a good cozy mystery

Carolyn Haines simply gets better and better!!!! I've been a fan her "Bones" series from the beginning, and this one is excellent. I rarely smile when I'm reading mysteries, but I often laugh aloud at some of the zingers thrown out by Sarah Booth and her posse. The description of a premature birth is absolutely unique. Not only is it in keeping with Haines's skill with humor, but readers won't soon forget it!! There are some interesting twists in this book, and even more interesting developments in Sarah Booth's romantic relationships. I solved one of the mysteries relatively early, but I still couldn't stop reading until the end. I can hardly wait to see what happens next!! Thanks to St. Martin's and NetGalley for providing access to the ARC.

This is a great book; this is the seventeenth book in the Sarah Booth Delaney series written by Carolyn Haines. Private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney and her friends are celebrating New Year's Eve at the party of the year, a smashing Winter Garden party at the Prince Albert Hotel. It's a dazzling success...until Frangelica "Sister" McFee walks through the door. Sarah Booth knew Sister in college, before Sister became a bestselling author and moved to New York, and fame and fortune don't seem to have tempered her arrogance and cruelty. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I think this is the best book in the series The .pace and action in the book kept me reading non-stop. Carolyn has managed to put some current political references in a very comical way. Those images will never leave my brain. (I don't want to give anything away). It was great to be back in Zinnia with Sarah Booth Delaney, Tinkie, Harold, Scott, Coleman especially the doggies.
The McFees are mostly crazy folk. Years ago an "accident" set in motion a wild ride which Carolyn Haines takes on on like the rapids. When I was reading this book, which I won in a contest to review before it came out, I was transported to Mississippi. Like Jitty I felt like I was popping up where ever the action took place.
We learned more about the Old Miss days. Lives were in danger. Romance was interrupted. I must stop so as not to ruin the suspense.
I go to the pool in my complex daily to read, walk in the pool and workout. The day I was reading this I could not stop. My husband came out to the pool to see if i drowned, fell asleep or was kidnapped because I had been out there for hours. When he came and saw me reading, I said "Oops, blame Carolyn, she wrote I. I couldn't stop reading it."

Sarah Booth Delaney and her posse are back. And they're all united at being pissed at Frangelica "Sister" McFee, a local girl who has profited off the death of her brother and mother in a mysterious car accident. She even refers to Tinkie as "Stinky." Really, now. Now a film company is in town, getting ready to turn her story into a movie. But Sister isn't the only McFee whose name is out the world. Her father is making quite a name for himself while he runs for Senate, showing off his young, pregnant wife and denigrating Putin as much as possible.
Sarah and Tinkie are brought into the case when the filmmakers hire them to find out who killed Sister's family. They run into some people who really, really don't want them to find out the truth.
Regular Haines readers will not be disappointed.

Three and a half stars

I’ve loved the Sarah Booth Delaney mystery series since reading book #1, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Sticks and Bones, which is book 17 in the series! Carolyn Haines did not disappoint with this clever mystery.

In this story, Sarah Booth and Tinkie have been hired by Hollywood filmmakers to solve what really happened 5 years ago in the deaths of Son McFee and his mother Cleo before the filmmakers begin shooting a movie based on the book written by Sister McFee about her brother and mother’s deaths. Were their deaths a terrible car accident caused by a storm and flooding on the roads? Was Son responsible because of alleged drug use? Or was it murder?

During the investigation, Sarah Booth and Tinkie encounter some of the craziest and strangest people that they have ever dealt with in Sunflower County. This leads to some pretty intense and dramatic moments but some humorous ones as well! There were several times that I laughed aloud while reading this book. Other times, I was on the edge of my seat from the twists and turns the mystery took! The mayhem, danger, and great characters kept me so engrossed that I had to read the book in one sitting.

I can’t wait to read book #18, and this is one series that I can count on to always keep me highly entertained and wanting more. There is never a deal moment when the Delaney Detective Agency is on the case! Oh, and I hope with the ending Ms. Haines gave us that we can expect to see more romance in Sarah Booth’s future…

Thank you, NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Carolyn Haines for the chance to read an ARC of Sticks and Bones in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Sarah Booth Delaney is back and I like it!!!! I absolutely love this series. And, if you have never tried it, Carolyn makes it easy for you to pick up the series at any point.

In this book, there's a new character, Frangelica "Sister" McFee. She is the MOST obnoxious person I think that I have read that has come to Sunflower County. She has just written a book about the mysterious death of her mother, Cleo, and her brother, Son. She's back in town to brag, brag, and brag. And, she's brought a movie crew with her that's going to film her book. This woman is mean to everyone, but mostly Tilley. She goes out of her way to be mean to her.

I have to add this note: who calls their children Sister and Son? A strange family, that's who and that is exactly what Sister and her dad are.

Sarah Booth and Tilley are hired to find out "if" Sister's brother really killed himself and his mother that fateful night as written in Sister's book. This puts them on another course for danger and this one sometimes gets a little hard to see who's on who's side until all of the pieces of jigsaw are out of the box and put together.

Another great Sarah Booth Delaney read that was very humorous, entertaining, full of suspects, danger, and truly enjoyable. Oh, and then there's Jitty, she's upping the number of appearances. She NEEDS an heir! Ha!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for approving me and allowing me to read and review yet another great read in the Sarah Booth Delaney series.

Some Hollywood people have arrived in Zinnia, Mississippi, to film their latest movie and they’ve hired the Delaney Detective Agency. It’s always fun to follow the small town’s characters, but this time they may be in over their heads, what with politicians, homewreckers, murders, and a mean girl from the past. Haines always combines humor, a plot full of twists and turns, and believable characters-- this series just keeps getting better.

Sticks and Bones was by far the best in this series so far.

Sarah Booth and her best pal Tinkie are amazing in this book and I could not put it down.

There was so much drama, lies, secrets and family deception going on that I found myself transported into the book.

When the Delaney Detective Agency is hired by a movie producer to track down the truth about an accident that happened 5 years earlier, Sarah becomes involved in an investigation that could be her last one.
Frangelica “Sister” McFee is the author of the book that tells the story of the downfall of her brother, who was allegedly an addict who caused his mother's death and quite possibly his own.
Although his body was never discovered, the movie producers want to get the truth before making the movie.

Sister is a mean, self-centered character who has nothing nice to say about anyone, especially Tinkie. For that alone Sarah Booth is on edge with this dysfunctional family, but when she begins to unravel the threads of the tightly woven tapestry of family secrets, someone is determined to silence the detectives for good.

This book will appeal to all cozy mystery readers. Jitty plays such a comical role in this book that I couldn't help but chuckle every time she made an appearance.

Released on Date 16 May 2017 by Minotaur Books Sticks and Bones is the 17th book in the series written by Carolyn Haines

#17 in the series and just as fresh as ever. Haines has used actors and film productions in her books before, but it's more of an excuse to have a bunch of new characters around for this story which focuses on a dysfunctional family.

The last couple of books have dealt some hard blows to Tinkie and Sarah Booth which they are starting to recover from. So, despite some murder and mayhem things are looking up which is nice.

There are several twists and turns in the story. I saw one coming but didn't quite figure who/how we would find out.

Jitty has been a pain to both Sarah Booth and me since early on. I don't see what the character has added to the story lines since the first book or two. I guess we're stuck with her, but I can only hope her appearances dwindle. That aside, I can't think of any series that has remained as interesting and non-repetitive as this one and I'm looking forward to #18.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Another fine example of Ms Haines writing genius. As long as this series has been written, she is still able to write a fresh and compelling story, with all the same characters we have grown to love and have an emotional attachment to. The mystery and intrigue is a page turner and exemplary at keeping you guessing until the very end...with a completely unexpected conclusion. As what I have grown to expect and count on with the endings of this author's stories, the door is left wide open for more from Sarah Booth...her investigative (aka inquisitive) nature and coming to terms with matters of the heart...I certainly know who I'm rooting for in that regard!

I love this series and have since the very first entry, my only complaint lies in the cover illustrations over the last few years. I think they are too cutesy for the stories and mask excellent mysteries and serious characters. Now out of the acting business for good, Sarah Booth is back to full-time PI work and just in time too. Her old college acquaintance, Sister McFee is back in town to tout her memoir about the death of her mother and brother years before. A film crew is shadowing Sister’s every move, planning to make a film about the sordid tale. Bt as the film crew gets to work, they uncover some puzzling and highly troubling inconsistencies in Sisters stories and hire Sarah Booth to uncover the real story. I love Sarah Booth and her horse and dog, but ghost Jitty is my all time favorite contemporary character
