The story between Linc and Carly is sweet, full of suspense, and some drama. I loved how these two were there for each other, Linc followed through on his promise to her grandfather and protected her. I live how Linc and Beau are always there for one another like brothers. Another great book by Kat Martin!

Kat Martin’s new series Texas Trilogy is classical love story with contemporary problems and villains.

In Beyond Reason the storyteller is Carly, and the story starts at her grandfather funeral. She has to leave her well paying job and take over her grandfather’s failing business. Of course her grandfather has sent her for help to one person she does not want to ask help from – Lincoln. So a beautiful, vulnerable and storing Carly and handsome, tall, powerful and controlling Lincoln – what do you thinks where it takes us. Of course to the bed and of course their bedroom bliss is disturbed by somebody who wants to do something bad and since we live at the time when terrorism is in everybody’s mind, the villains must be terrorists and our two lovebirds save a lot of people from terrible disaster.

It’s a cookie cutter story, with all the necessary ingredients just the frosting is a bit different in next books.

Readable.

This was the suspense story and my first book by Kat Martin. I liked the story premise but I found the delivery lacking. Carly is strong and bold. Lincoln makes a good support for her. Carly comes home to take over her grandfather's Trucking Company but someone seems to want to run this business to the ground. But Carly stands firm and the story plays out with action, threats, suspense and romance.
Kat Martin has written well, characters are well developed, villain remains evil and hidden till the end. The mystery in the story works well. But for most pasts the story is written in unwanted detail and it drags out.
On the whole it is a fairly good read

Beyond Reason by Kat Martin

Death, blackmail and a murder will not stop her from making a success of her grandfather’s business.

Carly Drake has given up her previous lifestyle as flight crew between New York and Paris, to take over Drake’s Trucking after her grandfather’s death. Joe Drake cared for her when she was young and after the death of her parents. Carly feels she should pay him back by continuing his business. She learns there are many unusual items on the accounts and also less than honest staff, and needs to deal with these, if only she can get a loan from the bank. The loan comes from Lincoln Cain, and this means she can start the rebuilding process. But then comes the phone call.

Lincoln Cain is also grateful to Joe. He gave him a job when no one else would after Lincoln left jail. Also fortunately for Lincoln, he has made a fortune and is a multi-millionaire. He owns property in the area and uses his considerable resources to fulfil his promise to Joe that he will look out Carly. When she finally describes her problems he lends her the money, and also has his money man look at the books. It is there they find the discrepancies that will lead them down a path neither wants to follow.

When one of her workers is murdered and the blackmail begins, Linc is determined to help Carly even if she doesn’t want the help. He becomes insistent, even though at times Carly does things because she thinks she must or has been told to do so by the blackmailers.

While this mayhem is happening, the chemistry between Linc and Carly ignites and they tacitly agree that they will be together for the duration of their investigation. Many of those around Lincoln and Carly can see they should be together and comment on it, but they both say it is only a short fling. As the tension rises, and they are forced into complying with the blackmailer’s demands, a standard blackmail turns into a terrorist incident.

This is another great suspense story from Ms Martin. I enjoyed the way there were twists and turns in the story and this one did end up in a place I wasn’t expecting. I was expecting a particular character to be the main baddie but it wasn’t so as things developed. He just had a bad attitude! This book was certainly a page turner.

It's been awhile since I read a Kat Martin book and this was an excellent one to jump start my love of her books. I've kind of gotten tired of the excess of billionaire romances out there but this was nicely balanced with the blue collar trucking industry. This was a great read with a lot of action and suspense.

Great new series! This book was hot where it needed to be. It also had some mystery and characters with some spunk to them! I enjoyed the romance between Linc and Carly. Carly is a take charge, "no is not an acceptable answer" type woman and I loved that in this book.
Can't wait for the next book in the series.

I had forgotten how much I enjoy suspense novels, and I do enjoy Kat Martins her heroine's are never the weak type, they are stubborn, resourceful, and smart. Her hero's tend to be gorgeous, virile, and resourceful. In this one we have Carly, whose grandfather has recently passed away, and she has so much guilt because Joe (her grandfather) was who raised her, and she feels like she has let him down by now being there when he needed her the most. His business is on the verge of bankruptcy and one of his loyal long time employees has been murdered, so she is resolved to bring back the company to its former glory and get to the bottom, of who killed the employee. In comes Linc Cain, a handsome millionaire, it ends up that Joe was the only person who had believed in him when he had come fresh out of jail, and he gave him a chance and was his friend, and Joe had asked to look out for Carly, and he was going to do so, especially when he knows their is trouble. When they meet, there is instant attraction, but they are going to fight it, because neither is interested in a relationship, but that does not last for long, they are combustible together. Unfortunately, their are a lot of issues, Carly is threatened and her life is in danger, so many things start happening, and thru all of this, she is trying to keep her heart from breaking, because she does not believe in HEA. When all of the issues are taken care of, she does the biggest stupidest thing in her life, and I wanted to jump thru the pages of this book and slap her, luckily things get resolved, and she does get her HEA, I encourage you to read it, the only thing that I do not like, is that I have to wait along time for the next book in this trilogy...

After several years as an international flight attendant, Carly returns home to Texas, determined to save her grandfather's successful trucking company which is inexplicably on the brink of bankruptcy following his death. Carly has learned over the years that the only person she can count on is herself. Her grandfather taught her to be strong and independent and she's not about to hand Drake Trucking to Lincoln Cain, no matter how sexy he his, or to a drug lord no matter how insistent and dangerous he is. She's in for the fight of her life.

Lincoln Cain is the quintessential bad boy made good and owes his success to the second chance he was given by Carly's grandfather which is why he promised the man he'd look after Carly after his death. He expected a pampered, sophisticated woman who would eagerly take his money for her grandfather's company and return to big city life. What he discovers is a woman who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, will fight with her last breath to save her grandfather's legacy and protect those she loves, and isn't impressed by his money or power. His heart could be in real trouble with this one.

I'm all in for this sexy, action-packed new trilogy from Kat Martin. Set in Texas, Beyond Reason hits the ground running and never lets up. I couldn't read it fast enough. Carly and Linc are fully dimensional, vibrant characters who leap from the pages. Their chemistry sizzles even as they butt heads and battle bad guys but it's their vulnerable hearts beneath the bravado that won me over. There's an intriguing cast of secondary characters, some truly scary (and realistic) bad guys, plenty of action, and a little boy who captured their hearts and mine.

All I can say after finishing the exciting Beyond Reason is bring on book two!

4.5 Stars

I have chosen not to finish and review this title. While I usually like this author, this title did not work for me. I have picked it up and put it down a couple of times, and I find myself wanting to skim and I am only about 15% in to the book.

I appreciate the opportunity, and I look forward to the next book!

I never miss a Kat Martin Story. I enjoy the way she blends romance with suspense to create a nice adrenaline fueled ride for her readers.

Linc is the perfect hero; handsome, rich, the hometown boy done good despite a troubled past. Carly is beautiful, tough, determined to succeed against all odds.

At her grandfather's death she comes back to run his trucking company only to find the company teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Determined to turn the business around, she received set back after set back especially when one of her drivers turns up dead.

Is that in response to a threat she didn't take seriously or is there something more sinister? Join Carly as she steps on to the tigers back determined to ride it to success even as Linc hovers offering his support in helping her succeed.

This is extremely well written story that hit all the high spots for me. I can't wait to read the next one.

It's action packed. It's suspenseful. The pages just fly by. And it's sweetened with a developing romance between two don't-give-an-inch individuals.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

Beyond Reason is the start of a new series from Kat Martin, Texas Trilogy. It was a nice step away from the Brody's series. It was a good read very typical Kat Martin, which is a good thing, good romance, good plot, and well paced. My only complaint is that Lincoln was too much of the cliched billionaire playboy. It was a nice change to have a book take place in Texas and not be about cowboys, thank you very much, we are not all cowboys, oil tycoons, or mexican labourers. The trucking industry is big and it's nice to see it getting some attention for a change (that I know of).

Carly Drake has so much to make up for, she knows just how much her Grandfather did for her she feels guilty for not being here for him sooner. Now that he's dead she's going to make Drake Trucking once again into one of the best trucking companies in Texas, but the cards are stacked against her and if it isn't one thing it's another and here she is five weeks after her grandfather's death her best driver was shot down and hijacked and the police aren't very hard to find out why. Lincoln Cain owes so much to Joe Drake, after he got out of prison Joe was the only one who gave him a chance and it was that one opportunity that lead Lincoln on the path to being as successful and rich as he is now. Lincoln made a deathbed promise to Joe that he would take care of Carly after Joe's death. Lincoln heard so much about Carly and expected her to be polished and spoiled, his plan was to buy the company from her for enough money to set her up for life and she wouldn't have to worry about money any more. What he got was an insanely beautiful and determined woman who said no. Lincoln isn't the only one who she said no to, Carly also said no to a local drug lord and now she's in over her head, top it off with company money disappearing and the death of her best driver. Lincoln is bound to help her whether she wants it or not but once she realizes who the drug lord is she's willing to accept help to take him down.

Overall, this was a good read it has some good side stories going on, the character development was nice with the background information on Lincoln. The romance aspect was enjoyable, like all playboys once he has his girl, Carly, she's the only one that matters. and I'm looking forward to Beau's, who is Lincoln's business partner and childhood friend, story.
