This was my first book by Kat Martin. It took me a really long time to read this novel...and unfortunately that's not usually a good sign. I had a difficult time connecting with the characters, and a difficult time believing their actions.

Unfortunately, this one just wasn't for me. I won't, however, give up on this author as I know she has many, many fans.

This book is the first one in the Texas Trilogy series by Kat Martin.

I am absolutely in love with Linc!! He is a man that goes after what he wants no mater what the cost. He is magnificent specimen of a man. He loves with every fiber of his being. This book was so intense the pages were burning to be turned! The sexual chemistry between him and Carly was off the charts. I could not put this book down. The danger the two were in was at every corner yet they didn't let that keep them from enjoying life as well as enjoying each other.

Carly was an independent woman who didn't need help from anyone. A man who knew everything and had all the answers was the last person she wanted to turn to. Yet with danger everywhere he may just be her only ally and she has to turn her grandfather's business around.

This book is full of sex appeal, danger, and love! It has everything you could want in read. I can't not wait to read the next book in Kat Martin's Texas Trilogy.
I was given this book for my honest review.

I really wanted (and expected) to like this book. As a huge Kat Martin fan I count down the days until her new books are released. This one was unfortunately a disappointment and not up to the same caliber I've come to expect from her writings. Loved the story line premise, but the writing didn't feel complete or flow. I found myself skimming over parts and kept hoping it would improve. This almost felt like it was a first draft and hadn't been "fluffed" and filled in.

Carly and Linc were both strong characters with a very determined attitude. They own companies in competition with each other since the death of Carly's uncle, but Linc feels no need to compete because Carly's uncle was responsible for giving him his start. He also made the man a promise to protect Carly. Unfortunately, he has a need to act on that promise since Carly and her business have been targeted.

I liked how Linc took on all the responsibility for taking care of Carly's problems, but I also liked that she was strong enough to want to handle her own issues. The story moved quickly and had plenty of suspense and chemistry to keep me interested.

I really like Carly and Linc. I like all the characters and am looking forward to hearing about all of them in future books. Carly's grandfather has died and left her all alone. He left her his trucking company and a whole lot of problems. Someone has killed one of her drivers. At the driver's funeral, she meets Linc. Linc promised Joe that he would look after Carly and keep her safe. While keeping Carly safe, LInc gets to know her and realizes that she is the one he has been looking for. They just have to stay alive long enough to be together. They are dealing with terrorists, betrayal by long-time employees and an old grudge with the local sheriff. Carly has a big trust issue and isn't sure she set that aside to trust in Linc's love.

"Beyond Reason" is a wonderful book written in my favorite genre, Romantic Suspense! Linc and Carly's story had a steady but growing love between them that took its time to completion with high drama throughout. The dynamics between the two and the great details of the ongoing fast pace of the storyline, the flow of the story, only enhances the book. We have background and details on their lives and how they got to where they are today, as well as action in the story that never lags or lets down the reader. For all the suspense enthusiasts out there, what is better than having a complete novel with drama, suspense, action, and romance, with a pace that will keep the reader turning pages to find out how they got to their HEA? I have yet to read a bad story written by Kat Martin and I recommend you pick this one up. I look forward to Beau's story next.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for gifting me "Beyond Reason". My opinion is my own. This is mine 5 Stars!

Another thrilling ride from Kat Martin! One of my favorite go to authors for great romantic suspense. Carly Drake is running Drake Trucking after her grandfather's death and Lincoln Cain made a promise to him to look after Carly. Their attraction is immediate and they work together to stop a criminal named El Jefe who wants to use Carly's trucking business for illegal purposes.

This book is hard to put down. The story is fast-paced and keeps your attention. I look forward to the next books in this series.

I'm a huge fan of Kat Martin's as the many reviews by me can attest. The stories are always great and the characters well developed and so lovable. Her books contain just the right amount of suspense and romance to make them wonderful reads. Beyond Reason is no exception. If you are looking to delve into a good suspenseful romance this summer, this is a great place to start.

Linc and Carly were perfect. I loved reading their story and watching them come together through wild and dangerous circumstances, and seeing her grandfather watch out for her beyond the grave. El Jefe was a flat character that existed only to increase the drama in the plot, but other than that, I really enjoyed this one. Kat Martin always writes winners.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. This book tells the story of Carly Drake and Lincoln Cain. Carly has recently inherited Drake Trucking Company from her grandfather, and she returns to Iron Springs, Texas to settle down and build her business. After being a flight attendant for years, she’s had plenty of adventures and now wants to settle into somewhere she can call home. Little does she know though that she is walking right into the path of a vicious drug lord. Linc promised Carly’s grandfather that he would look out for her after Joe’s death, and so he too finds himself drawn into a dangerous world of criminal activity. And as Linc fights to protect Carly at all costs, they both discover a connection they never expected.
Overall this wasn’t my favorite book. Carly as a character was just way too insecure for me, I found it hard to connect with her character because she was so contradictory. She supposedly had such great backbone and that’s why Linc loved her, but I feel like someone with that much backbone would recognize their own self worth and not constantly feel that Linc couldn’t possibly actually care for her. She spent most of the book convinced that Linc was way out of her league just because he was a millionaire and that they would never end up together. I get that she had been burned by men in the past but it just got a bit repetitive for me. And she kept trying to leave when she got scared of the depth of the feelings involved in their new relationship, completely ignoring the fact that a drug lord was trying to hunt her down. That part made me frustrated, like worry about your life first, feelings second. Other than that, the interactions between all of the characters felt somewhat stilted and forced, dramatic scenes that should have been full of tension fell flat and sometimes felt awkward. The plot was really busy too, it felt like there were so many different things going on all squished into one plot it felt like to much sometimes. The story line wasn’t awful it just didn’t grab at me. I wouldn’t say that I would recommend or not recommend it, give it a try if it sounds interesting to you.

Carly inherited her grandfather’s trucking business and with it a whole lot of trouble, financial and deadly. One of her drivers is murdered and she is receiving phone threats, her only option is to team up with Lincoln Cain. The man her grandfather helped out when he was a kid, Lincoln was able to turn his life around and became a billionaire. Can these two work together to find out who is trying to destroy her grandfather’s business? Tons of suspense and drama. I really liked this read as well as the characters and am looking forward to more in the series.

When I first saw the cover for Beyond Reason it looked more suspense than romance to me. However, Beyond Reason by Kat Martin has all her trademark elements in it. There is suspense, check; action, check; strong willed woman, check; equally strong willed but protective male, check; and passion between them, double check.

The intrigue in this story kept the main characters, Lincoln Cain and Carly Drake guessing with it many twists and turns. Promises made and attraction evident has the two together as they try to solve who is out to ruin Carly’s family business. Love is a bonus that they did not plan on finding. The romance is as strong as the suspense. Fans of romantic suspense will not be disappointed as Kat Martin provides an outstanding first story in anew trilogy.

A Man Bound by Honour . . . Lincoln Cain has come a long way since he was the young man that Joe Drake bailed out of jail that long ago day. Joe gave him a reason to be a better person. He wouldn't be the man he is today—he owes him, and Lincoln always pays his debts. Lincoln has promised Joe that he'll take care of his granddaughter, Carly, if anything happened to him. When an employee is murdered and Carly's life is threatened, Lincoln knows there is more to it than he ever imagined. And the thought of something bad happening to Carly has his heart tripping. Will he be able to keep her safe from the sinister plot unraveling?

Carly Drake is determined to keep her grandfather's trucking business no matter what—it's the least she could do. After spending most of her life as a flight attendant, she's ready to go home, even though it's after her grandfather's death. It seems that trouble follows and her best driver is murdered, the business is at the brink of bankruptcy, and shady characters threaten her life if she doesn't do as they ask. On top of that, Lincoln Cain is the most domineering, sexy, and filthy-rich man she's ever met. All she wants to do is melt in his arms, and that can be very deadly to her heart. When the threats continue and come too close for comfort, Carly knows that she can't do this alone and Linc is the only person she can trust to help her . . . but the cost to her heart can be devastating.

This is one high-octane, thrilling ride of a story! It definitely kept me glued to the pages. Kat Martin delivers the goods with BEYOND REASON! Linc and Carly's relationship sizzles with sexual tension—he's a sexy, drool-worthy hero and she's a tough cookie who doesn't back down in the face of danger. I can't wait for the next book!

Entertaining adventure. Engaging bit of romantic adventure escapism. Likeable characters. Not a fan of intimate details, but those pages were easily skipped over. I look forward to reading the next one in this series.

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

I loved the first 20% of the book and the last 20% was awesome. The 60% in between - well, it just didn't live up to what I have come to expect from Kat Martin. The romance was hot, but became repetitive and if I had to read one more time how Carly's previous fiancées left her and how Linc could have any womon he wanted, I was going to throw the book (figuratively speaking, as this is on my Kindle). Sad to say, but the suspense wasn't much better.

Carly Drake has come home to take over her grandfather's trucking business. When the story begins, Joe had been dead just a few weeks and she is again at another graveside, this time for one of Drake Trucking's drivers who was murdered in a hijacking. Also there is Lincoln Cain, a very hot, very rich friend of Joe's. Linc has promised to watch out for Carly, but he never expected to do anything other than buy Drake Trucking and send her on her way. He absolutely didn't expect to feel an instant attraction for her.

Carly feels the same attraction for Linc, but she is not going to sell her company. There is trouble and she needs to get to the bottom of it. She also feels she needs to continue the company because she wasn't there to help when she should have. When she is threatened, accosted and then kidnapped and a nasty called El Jefe makes demands that she haul for him or he will kill her, Linc steps in. 3 1/2-Stars

I have an up and down relationship with Kat Martin books. This was a miss for me. I found myself skimming and flipping through entire chapters quickly. The characters didn't wow me, the plot felt a bit slow, and in the end, it was pretty predictable.

A new series from Kat Martin is always a pleasure to read. From The Raines to The Brodies to The Boss Inc, all have been a thrilling pleasure to read and now the Texas Trilogy is out next week, and is definitely worth giving it a read.

Book one of the series, “Beyond Reason” opens with a funeral and the magnetic presence of billionaire Lincoln Cain. A funeral that raises more questions for Carly Drake, inheriting Drake’s Trucking after her grandfather’s death and now a close friend and ally of many years is six feet under.

Linc has turned his life around, thanks to Carly’s grandfather and now has success, money and power riding his ass, but he may not be able to keep his promise of keeping Carly safe as a series of incidents seem to target Carly. As the mystery unfolds and a betrayal from within rocks the company, Carly and Linc have to put their lives on line to out maneuver the danger that is trying to take control of Drake’s Trucking.

An interesting plot that starts off the new Texas Trilogy, “Beyond Reason” is captivating. Kat Martin’s characters, Linc and Carly make a good team with their stubbornness, courage and intelligence, giving the story a good dose of passion and suspense to make this a worthy read.

Beyond Reason is the first book in Martin's new Texas Trilogy. I found this to have a little different flavor from her previous books. The two main characters are both in business. Cain is very successful while Carly is trying to rescue her grandfather's trucking firm. She needs help and Cain has promised her grandfather he will look after her. The business aspect is what gives this a unique flavor. There is an element of danger. Someone is trying to us Carly's trucking firm to run contraband. One person has been killed and there is the threat of more deaths. I loved the interaction between Carly and Cain. I found the danger believable and the action spot on. A really good start to a new series. Here's looking forward to the next book featuring Cain's partner.

Drama, trouble, murder, and burning romance are the key elements of Beyond Reason.
Kat Martin has always been a one-click author to me, I enjoy her style to tell a story. Beyond Reason didn't end up being one of my favorites from her, but that doesn't stop me from continuing to follow the series.
Lincoln Cain was a charismatic hero. He is protective, stubborn, and controlling, but his intentions are good, and he is only trying to keep Carly safe and alive. Lincoln has several layers in his personality, the wilder side with an MC club and his time in prison made me expected more from him, a bit more darkness, a bit more edge and danger around him, not just another billionaire with luxurious habits.
Carly Drake was in a tough spot in her life. Trying to keep her grandfather's firm going and alive while renovating a home and grieving for her grandfather. Adding to that the problems with the cartel, and inside the company, and she barely holds her head above the water. But her stubborn and independent nature doesn't make it easy to accept the help that Lincoln so eagerly wants to offer to her.
From her experience, Carly doesn't belive that love will last, that there can be a happily ever after. She is afraid to be hurt again and lets the fear control her behavior.

The characters are charming, the basic plot was intriguing and held my interest through the tale, even though the ending with the suspense was a bit overboard. I felt that the story could have moved on with a faster tempo. There were often details of products in the scene - guns, cars, clocks, clothing, you name it - that to me was unnecessary.
The other thing that surprised me was the dialog, it often felt like it was added to the story after completion, and felt like it was missing the flow and wit I am used to and look forward to in Ms. Martin's stories. Same was with the sexual thoughts and moments that were plentiful, yet felt like add-ons, awkward and even inappropriate at times with the timing in the story.
Despite all that, I was fascinated by the tale and will be looking forward to the next book in the series.
