I read this book in a day and enjoyed it so much. We have all felt like Pippa at some point where life is just a kick in the pants, and I empathized with her so much! There was so much chemistry between Pippa and Matt, and the storytelling was just awesome! I thought all the characters were great and added so much depth to the book. I loved this book, and it won't be my last by Sarah Hegger.

Pippa boards a plane from LA going to Ghost Falls, Utah. where her eccentric grandmother Phi/ Philomena is. Grandma Phi had been a world famous opera singer known for her quirkiness and love of life. Pippa is the woman America loves to hate. Her tv show was quickly taken off the air and she no longer had a job. Pipa’s supposed boyfriend/producer Ray - You Tubes latest sensation- had edited the tape of Pippa’s show before airing it. The tape showed Pippa calling her grey haired guest fat, ugly, and unwanted. Pippa was suppose to making the guest over as Pippa hosted a makeover show. After the show Ray was sure pippa’s popularity would nose dive and make his tv ratings quickly go up. No one in in Hollywood stood up for Pippa and tell the truth. Ironically enough Pippa had felt safe with Ray. Matt does not believe Pippa said those exact words. As they were portrayed to Pippa’s guest. Matt has known Pippa since they were kids. Whenever Pippa came home for a visit they would circle around their attraction but didn’t do anything about it. Matt and pippa have a steamy affair as she tries to resurrect her career on Twitter. When Pippa left Ghost Falls right after HS at eighteen Matt didn’t go instead he stayed behind to take care of his family after a tragedy. Matt gave up his own personal happiness to take care of his family. Matt is now a contractor and Grandma Phi’s friend. Then Pippa is offered the chance to go back to LA and continue her career.
I basically loved this book. I only had one problem with it as I felt there was just too many side stories. This didn’t make me stop reading the story but it did steal a bit of my enjoyment. I loved Grandma Phi and felt she added a lot to this book. I also loved Matt and the way he willingly took care of his family. I loved Matt and Pippa together and was rooting for them. This was an easy read and made me chuckle at times. This story kept my interest all through it. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is a fun read, whilst still addressing some pretty serious issues. It is an interesting mix of discordant families and deep devotion. And at the same time is a sexy, satisfying second-time-around romance.

Pippa, a TV star on the wane thanks to a nasty producer boyfriend's dirty editing of her show, has returned to her hometown to hide out. We get to meet all the small town's characters – the biggest of all being her wonderful grandmother, Phi. She most definitely has ideas about what Pippa should concentrate on now and is shameless in her pursuit of that mission. We get to learn about Phi's career, her problems with her daughter and other grand-daughter, and her love of Pippa. As the layers are peeled away from the reasons behind their behaviours, we get to see how easy it is to build up barriers when really none exists. There are some very unexpected twists.

Matt also has family issues – and he may finally be realising that it is time for a change of approach. Meeting his super hot brothers and sister, we may be getting a clue as to how this series may progress in future installments. The contrast between Matt, who stayed, and Pippa, who left, is significant, but the chemistry between the two of them is destined to make them consider compromise. The solution is most satisfying, thank you, Ms. Hegger.

(I did have one issue of confusion – the blurb says that Matt built Phi's house – and it must have been less than twenty years ago if so, and so how can there be so many memories there, and so many actual problems?)

A new novel by Ms Hegger...yes, please!

Pippa Turner temporarily leaves her life in Los Angeles to travel incognito to Ghost Falls after her television career crashes. With her reputation in tatters, she heads to her grandmother's home to re-charge her batteries and to create a plan to clear her name and get her life back on track. However, seeing Matt Evans again reawakens desires for her once high school crush. With expectations to leave as quickly as she arrives, Pippa's torn between her old life and the potential to start rebuilding a future in the town she couldn't wait to leave.

Matt Evans is thirty-six years old and his life is passing him by. After taking over the failing family business barely a year after graduation high school, he's made sacrifices to keep is the family together. When Pippa returns to the house he built for her grandmother, it ignites long buried feelings. Only, she's only here until her life is back on track. That's until fate steps in and changes the course of his life.

Well written, Ms Hegger latest novel has lived up to my expectations. It's highly entertaining and laugh out loud funny in places, yet the issues the protagonists have to address are very real. Pippa is attempting to ignore and overcome people's prejudice opinions and it is heart-warming Matt believes that what everyone saw isn't what actually happened. He needs to prioritise his own life and point out to his loved ones he needs to fulfil his own ambitions and desires. Something easier said than done, yet with Pippa and two of his brothers on his side to assist plus the addition of a little manipulative interfering called Phi, the narrative is a wonderful balance between sexy and heartfelt emotions.

With a supporting cast of adorable characters, the foundations are there for more delightful tales from Ghost Falls and I can't wait to read their stories. Whether you're familiar with the author or not, you'll love this first book in this new series.

Positively Pippa is the first time book by Sarah Hegger that I have read, but it is definitely not my last. She had me laughing with her subtle wit from the first page until the last, and I truly enjoyed this funny, sexy romance.

Pippa Turner is returning home to the small Utah town of Ghost Falls with her successful television career in pieces. She hosted a makeover reality show when her ex-boyfriend edited some footage to make it seem as though she cruelly insulted one of the show’s guests. The public outcry was tremendous, and she’s was labeled a horrible person and lost her job. She returns home to stay with her beloved and eccentric grandmother in order to heal and figure out what is next.

She runs into high school friend Matt Evans as soon as she walks in the door, and the attraction that has simmered between them for years roars to life. They’ve both wanted each other but have never been in the same place at the same time, but now they are. Matt’s not going to waste this chance, and he pursues Pippa. He’s funny, nice and very sexy, and she can’t resist. Frankly, neither could I.

Matt and Pippa both have complicated lives that make a new relationship difficult. Pippa wants to return to California and television, and Matt has spent years putting his siblings and mother first leaving him with a mountain of responsibilities and little time for a personal life. Even considering the reality of their situations, neither can stop the love that is swiftly growing between them.

Positively Pippa has laugh out loud moments, sexy interludes, hilarious family side-kicks and a truly romantic love story. Both Pippa and Matt are endearing characters, and seeing them find each other is a delight. I can’t recommend Positively Pippa enough, and I look forward to reading more by Sarah Hegger.

Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger
Ghost Falls #1

Having read Sarah Hegger’s historical romances but never her contemporaries I was interested in finding out what they would be like – and – I found out they are delightful if all are like this one. They have family, drama, ups and downs, great characters, love, romance, decisions to be made and an ultimate HEA for the main characters.

Pippa returns home to Ghost Falls to lick her wounds and figure out her future after the TV show she hosted was sabotaged by her ex-boyfriend. She and her grandmother, Phi, have always been close as peas in a pod and a safe haven is always there for her in Phi’s home. Phi has a bit of matchmaking in mind with Matt the man she tries to set Pippa up with. And, the two fall in with the plan but only on a “casual basis…until it becomes more. Matt has had his life controlled by his family’s needs for seventeen years and is also thinking about his future while Pippa does the same. The question is whether or not the two can find a way to move forward together and just how they can make it all work. Add in some interesting characters, a mysterious thief, family members who may have their stories told soon and you have a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to reading Matt’s brother Nate’s story next when it comes out. Bet it will be just as good as this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Zebra for the ARC. This is my honest review.

'Positively Pippa' by Sarah Hegger is book One in the "Ghost Falls" series. This is the story of Pippa Turner and Matt Evans.
Pippa left her hometown for L.A right after high school. There she started working on a Hollywood show and also met Ray. All was going great it seemed until her Ray, her boyfriend/producer humiliated her. Pippa up and left town and headed by to her hometown of Ghost Falls. Pippa plans to stay with her Grandmother Philomene 'Phil'. There she is quickly reunited with her long ago crush Matt. Matt is a contractor and has made a friend of her Grandmother. So her Grandmother just so happened to have a water link on the sink the same time Pippa comes through the door. While Pippa thinks about getting her life back together she looks to Matt as a possible diversion. Pippa never acted on her crush for him and now might be the right time for some hot action.
Matt and Pippa had a very playful attitude toward each other. Phil the Grandmother was a hoot. Overall this was a nice coming home book with a second chance at love story.

when pippa turner waltzes back into ghost falls, utah a pariah in the reality tv world, she is unsure what to do. her larger-than-life grandmother, philomene will know. and so in positively pippa, she comes home. and things are odd. her grandmother is missing things. is it her age? is someone stealing them? pippa feels like she is out of the loop. and maybe that's been her choice, but it's never meant that she doesn't love her family implicitly even if she's often at cross-purposes with her mother and sister.

and then there's matt evans. he's always been the one guy who never worked out because of timing. but now the timing is right. and he's not about to avoid taking this chance. and the fact is, he is the one person who never doubts that she didn't say the things she's accused of saying. he knows her so well, he knows she could never hurt someone the way she is accused of hurting them.

and finding someone who believes in you like that is pretty heady. and maybe this time there's a way to figure things out in a way that lets them both get what they want. mainly a life with each other and some pretty exciting job opportunities.

this is a small town romance, so we also get to know the people of ghost falls throughout this narrative, and they are all pretty interesting folks. it will be nice to see where some of their stories go in subsequent books.

What do you do when your famous life takes a humiliating turn? If you’re Pippa Turner you head to the one spot you know you will ease your pain: Home to grandma. It doesn’t hurt that Grandma is a one-time world famous opera singer, known for her quirkiness and love of life. Pippa’s grandma, Phi, is thrilled to have her little girl home. And so is hunky contractor and one-time-lust-crush Matt Evans.

While Pippa tries to figure out what to do with her life, she’s not averse to having a little casual fling with the guy she lusted over in high school. Family tension on both side, secrets long held, and a career mishap that’s playing out all over the Twitterverse come into play to try and keep our hero and heroine apart.

Add in a little robbery mystery, a wedding-that’s-about-to-be ( or not!) and Pippa’s life doesn’t look like it’s going to get back on track any time soon.

I simply devoured this book! I read it in one afternoon because I simply could not put it down. I want Pippa to be my new BFF! She’d everything a romance book heroine should be: gutsy, sexy, feisty, quick witted, smart and loyal. And Matt Evans, well, can we just say “perfect guy” and leave it at that?

This was the first book I’ve read by Ms. Hegger but it sure won’t be the last! 5 well deserved and delightful stars!

This is a fantastic read! It's a great small town romance that is filled with quirky characters, a lot of humor, and a great romance between Pippa and Matt. Pippa left Ghost Falls as soon as she could. Now she's back after her life spectacularly implodes on national television. Matt's never forgotten Pippa and now that she's back in Ghost Falls he plans explore the intense attraction between them. Maybe with a little help from Grandma Phi he can convince her Hollywood isn't for her!

I highly recommend this one to everyone.

POSITIVELY PIPPA, the first book in a new series by Sarah Hegger, takes place in the delightful small town of Ghost Falls, a small mountain town in a growing resort area. We are introduced to a new cast of interesting characters, many of whom I’m sure will be back to tell their stories in upcoming series installments.

Pippa Turner, AKA Pippa St. Amor, is the host of a hit make-over series on a major television network. She reluctantly returns home to Ghost Falls after watching her show, her career and her life totally melt down after her ex-boyfriend edits one of the scenes in an episode to make it appear that she is verbally abusive towards a plus-size show participant. She receives an avalanche of bad publicity and hate mail after the show airs, and rather than face it, she chooses to wallow at home with the help of her celebrity diva grandmother, Phi. Wallowing at home, however, does not turn out to be the easy thing to do since she must also face her mother and her sister. There is a trunk load of family baggage to deal with, including the mysterious disappearance of many of her grandmother’s prized and valuable belongings.

By going home, Pippa must also confront the feelings she still has for an old high school crush, Matt Evans. They quickly find themselves being drawn into a steamy new relationship, but neither wants to commit to anything permanent. They agree to stay friends with benefits, but it’s difficult to keep it casual when they can’t keep their hands off each other!

The book is a full house of interesting secondary characters, especially Pippa’s eccentric grandmother Phi, a formerly famous opera singer. We also meet Matt’s younger sister who tries to sabotage her own wedding by buying the world’s ugliest wedding dress, Pippa’s sister Laura, who seems to have the perfect life, and Matt’s brother Eric who is a successful businessman.

While the frequent sex scenes were a bit explicit for my tastes, I enjoyed watching the rest of Pippa’s story unfold, especially the mystery surrounding her very colorful grandmother. The contrasting stories of Pippa and Matt coming to grips with their families (his too connected, hers not connected enough) was well written, as was the twist at the end and the satisfying conclusion.

This is the first book by Sarah Heggers that I have read, and while I generally enjoyed the book, as a life-long language teacher I have an issue with some of the language used. Ghost Falls is vaguely located between Denver and Salt Lake City, the area in which I have lived all my life, yet I was unfamiliar with a lot of the idioms and phrases that the characters in the story used. I read in Ms. Hegger’s biography that she has lived in many different places around the world, which I’m sure has given her a rich vocabulary, but if the characters in the book live in the Colorado/Utah area, they should sound like it. These characters often sounded like they came from somewhere else. I do understand that I was reading an ARC and the language may have been corrected by the time the book is published, I hope this won’t be an issue with future Ghost Falls stories.

I was pleased to see that Ms. Heggers now lives in Colorado, very close to me! Maybe she will have a book signing in one of our great bookstores and I can stop by to say hi!

Looking forward to the next Ghost Falls book.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book.

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you figure out what life is really meant to be. Such is the case for Agrippina “Pippa St. Amor” Turner. When her life unfairly implodes on national television she does what any self-respecting woman will do: she goes home. Home is Ghost Falls, Utah, her grandmother Phi, and Matt (though she doesn’t know it at the time). As Pippa tries to get her life back on track, Matt tries to become more than just “St. Matt” who gave up everything when his father died. Funny how they figure out that they can achieve both when they work together.

Witty banter: check

Susan Elizabeth Phillips type storyline: check

The promise of more interconnected storylines: check

Future visits to Ghost Falls: Priceless

My thoughts:

Positively Pippa is a cute book, but I just couldn't connect to the main character. Pippa comes home after her ex-boyfriend sets her up and she looses her job. Throughout the whole book she is trying to get her show back and doesn't seem to care about the effect her leaving would on her grandmother, Phi, or Matt. Although Matt tells her that their relationship is short-term and he's okay with her regaining her previous life, it kinda felt to me like she was using him and his long-time crush to make herself feel better. I did love the character of Pippa's grandmother, Phi. Phi is fabulous. The relationship between Matt and Phi is sweet. Matt is sexy as hell - a man who takes care of his family (no matter how crazy they drive him) and Phi, a diva past her prime who loves him and helped him in a time when he really needed it.

The writing is funny and sexy. I liked the plot and the relationship that grows between Pippa and Matt. I just wish that I could have connected to Pippa more.

How I rate it:

I give Positively Pippa a 3/5

When her ex-boyfriend dumps her for a younger woman and then ruins her career by airing a TV clip that does serious damage to her reputation, Pippa Turner returns home to Ghost Falls to avoid the media fallout. However, her stay in Ghost Falls is supposed to be temporary, but with her high-school crush determined to woo her, she's finding it harder and harder to want to leave town. However, when the chance arises to get her career back on track, will Pippa stay for Matt or will her return to TV and working again be too much incentive?

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Hegger, and I've got to say if all her books are this good, than I've been missing out on some fantastic reading. The way this story started was absolutely enthralling and drew me into this story immediately with what Pippa is facing when it comes to the fallout of her ex's betrayal. She's facing a lot of anger from the public, and no matter how much she tries to prove her innocence to the clip, she finds herself getting deeper in trouble. How could her ex be so cruel? Will the truth of what really happened come out?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as Matt sacrificed his own happiness to take care of his family and Pippa has always felt like she wasn't as loved as her sister when it came to her mom's affection. It's why she's so close to her grandmother, Phi; an eccentric old woman that loves to flirt and discuss the past, which sounded like such fun by everything she experienced and all the treasures she has. Whenever Phi was in the story I was smiling, which was a lot. She brings such joy to everyone's lives and I absolutely loved the nickname Matt and his brothers have for her, as it certainly suits her because of her past profession.

Both the main characters were compelling, not only because of their growing relationship, but because of their past and the challenges they face throughout this story including solving the case of missing treasure. Certainly, both have big decisions to make with Pippa trying to get her career back on track, but first needing to find a way to clear her name and prove her ex did wrong. Will she succeed? Will she find an ally to help her prove her ex was in the wrong? Indeed, she's strong, brave, independent and I loved that she was willing to give Matt a chance, even knowing that their relationship can't go any further than what they have while she's in Ghost Falls. Since she has a career to get back to that she believes can't be pursued in Ghost Falls, even if she wants to stay. While Matt, he can't leave their small town, because he believes his family would fall apart if he wasn't there for them. However, with the proposal Matt's brother offers him, it's finally time Matt did something for himself. Will he finally make some changes in his life?

Overall, Ms. Hegger has penned a delightful read that offered plenty of amusement from Phi and her flirting as well as the banter between the hero and heroine that created plenty of chemistry as they got to know each other again. The way this story ended had me concerned for one of the secondary characters, the identity of the thief and whether it would have an effect on the decisions the main characters made for their futures. Moreover, I liked that Matt was determined to do what's right for him and that he helped Pippa decide what was right for her too. Because these two were so right for each other, so no way should they let anything stand in their way of being together. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as we discover how far Pippa and Matt have come in their relationship and their careers, which had me smiling. Since both deserved all the happiness in the world. I would highly recommend Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger, if you enjoy the second chance romance trope, the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Alice Clayton, Kimberly Kincaid or Melanie Harlow.

As a fan of Sarah Hegger's Sir Arthur's Legacy series, this is my first time giving her contemporary romance a shot. I'm not a huge reader of contemporary romance because I have gotten rather picky (it's a side effect of finding gray hair, I promise). But I will be adding Sarah to my trusted authors list for contemporary. Positively Pippa checked all my boxes with mature characters, a likable heroine, a fun flirty hero, a lovable secondary character, minimal angst and drama, and an awesome setting.

At first, I was skeptical about this heroine, Agrippina "Pippa" Turner. As the host of her own makeover television show, I was disinclined to like her as one of those "Hollywood" types. The novel starts off with Pippa suffering a career-ending and ostracizing scandal which sends her slinking back home to Ghost Falls, Utah to hide and nurse her wounds. Luckily, Pippa turned out to be a likable heroine, and a genuinely nice person. She was also fun with a great sense of style, and the most amazing grandmother ever (more on Philomena later). I enjoyed watching Pippa manage the scandal, social media, and a budding romance with her hometown crush.

Matt Evans is the All-American small town guy - a hunky high school football star who experiences tragedy and becomes the bedrock for his whole family. My love for Matt was bordering on hero worship. He took on the reigns of his family at only nineteen years old without a thought for himself or his future happiness. Everyone calls on Matt when they need a problem solved, and he never fails to step up and work things out. I liked that his good guy persona was balanced by him being flirty (and a little dirty). He was a hero that you want to see get what he deserves (in the best way).

The romance between Pippa and Matt unfolded at the perfect pace. They had fun and kept it light-hearted at first, and the feelings deepened as the story progressed. While the book took place over a relatively short time, the characters had the hometown history to avoid it seeming like instalove. Plus, Matt was just so great that you wanted him to hurry up and get his HEA.

Pippa's grandmother, Philomena, was a dynamic diva and really stole the show of this story. A former Opera singer that, at seventy-eight(ish) years old, is still as eccentric as ever. Whether you are looking at her glittery eye shadow and dramatic dress, or her outlandish mansion, Philomena was one of a kind but with a huge heart. I think she added such an entertaining aspect to this story that I almost wanted to read more about her than our main characters. I'm glad Sarah added her as a secondary focus/distraction from main events.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Kensington.
