I just saw this was on my netgalley shelf from years ago and I hadn't reviewed it, so sorry about that. I recently borrowed the audiobook from my library unaware it was already on my kindle from years previous.

I absolutely loved it and gave it 5 stars on goodreads. I loved the flashbacks to the past and how the story wove together, I thought it was thrilling and wonderful and will make sure to check out more books by Holly.

Told in short chapters and narrated between past and present, we follow 2 very different sisters, Robin and Sarah. It jumps between first to third person, past and present which was a bit confusing at times. I enjoyed Robins character and her recollections from what she oversees. Overall a great read with an ending has a twist I did not see coming!

Robin and Sarah weren't the closest of twins. They weren't even that similar. But they loved each other dearly. Until, in the cruellest of domestic twists, they were taken from one another.

This book started off really well, but by half way through it began to drag a bit and then pick up again at the end. A very good analysis of family relationships and how a twist of fate can change everything and alter the dynamics of it. I wasn't sure about the Don't Close Your Eyes title, and was expecting a bit of a thriller and more scary moments, however, overall it was a good read.

Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat threw out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go I found this book thrilling the characters were fantastic and well thought out and the little clues all the way threw keep you guessing until the end this book stays with you long after you close the book this book is well worth the read I promise you wont be disappointed

A well written novel however I didn't like the characters so it was difficult to not get distracted and I struggled to fiinish the book.

Shouldn't twins be best friends? Shouldn't they know the ins and outs of each others lives? What if your twin was taken away from you? That's what happened to Robin and Sarah. It is hard to maintain a relationship across the sea. Lots of things happen and lots of secrets are formed.

DNF. I couldn't connect with this book at all and found it really hard to get into. I had high hopes for this, which is a shame.

A great book that kept me guessing right to the end. A slow burner that was well worth the wait to reach the end.

This book was a gripping, dark and extremely well written novel about lies and secrets. The stories of two families and their own demons which are revealed in a cleverly told story of two dysfunctional families and how a parents actions totally messes with their childrens heads! This was a fantastic psychological thriller and well worth a read ... or a listen!

I have previously read Holly’s book Love will Tear us Apart and loved it, so I was looking forward to reading this I did enjoy it especially the last 10%, but I couldn’t warm to the characters therefore I could only give it 3.5 stars. I will definitely read more from Holly in the future.

This book is not really a psychological thriller. It is more a domestic thriller. It is a great book and has a twist at the end that i did not see coming. i thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel.

There is nothing that I like better than reading about a dysfunctional family so when there were clearly two in this story I was in my element. This is one massive prime example of how parents can really mess up their kids on a huge scale. The story is told by twins Sarah and Robin both in present day as adults and jumping way back to when they were children.
The weekends were always exciting, when they were young, with the friendship of two married couples brining together the twins of one couple with the son of the other. Callum, Sarah and Robin had sleepovers mainly at Callum's each weekend. Oh boy, my heart went out to this lad from the moment in appeared on the pages. Holly Seddon captures the brutal reality of very different childhoods in these early chapters and it made my heart drop like lead.
Things are seen and innocent tongues can't be still and so the spiral continues downwards with heart breaking consequences for them all. I don't want to spoil the story for any readers so obviously I won't go into the events that follow but whoa there are some pretty major issues going on in this story. What you have to get to grips with is that the story spans over 30 years. It leap frogs to the main events that take the twins onto new paths in their lives. I really wouldn't want to be in their heads very long, with so much hurt and confusion.
This really is a break your heart and stick you back together with sticky tape the best way you can kind of read. Brilliant! I originally received this book from NetGalley.

Twisty, very gripping and right up my street. An unusual scenario and I found both sisters easy to empathise with. More of a plodder than a joyride but very easy to read. I look forward to exploring more of Holly Seddon’s works.

Having twins in the family I'm always fascinated by stories about the links between them even when they are seperated. I loved Seddon's first book and this proves that she is most definitely not a one hit wonder.

This is a very readable novel, and it kept me engaged throughout. I really wanted to know what was going to happen. The characters were interesting and multi-faceted, and the whole family swap scenario was original.

However the novel only got a three star review from me, as I was left feeling a little flat after it. It is certainly not a happy tale, but I didn't feel like all the ends were satisfactorily tied up. The conclusion did not answer all the questions for me, and I felt that the build up to the conclusion of the novel, didn't really match with what happened.
I would certainly read more by Holly Seddon, but I liked, rather than loved this one.

Don’t Close Your Eyes by Holly Seddon is the story of twin sisters, Robin and Sarah. Now adults, the girls haven’t seen each other in years and have long since lost contact. They both have their own problems and are both very much alone. Robin has had a successful music career but is crippled by anxiety, OCD and agoraphobia and hasn’t set foot outside in years. She has a very specific routine that keeps her safe inside her home, her entertainment coming from spying on the neighbours in the block of flats across from her home. Scared to sleep most nights, Robin keeps herself secure and safe by hiding under her bed. Convinced she’ll be attacked, her home is a fortress and she doesn’t dare to leave her house.

Miles away, twin sister Sarah has just been kicked out of her home and forced to leave behind almost 4 year old Violet who is her world. Desperate and with no one else to turn to, she goes in search of her sister hoping that together they can fix all her problems and reunite her with Violet.

Told from the perspective of both girls, throughout their childhood and into their adult years we slowly uncover what it is that pushed these girls apart and left them strangers to each other. Their childhood was traumatic and filled with scandalous actions of parents who didn’t know what to do for the best. And as the girls try to grow up dealing with the fallout of their childhood, they both spiral in different directions.

For the first maybe 80% of this book, I was plodding along nicely thinking this is a good book but not really sure where it was going or how it would end up. But then the twist of an ending had me surprised and really turned it around! I didn’t expect where it was going and really enjoyed the shock of the twist. Some books are very predictable and while I could guess certain things, the big one was a good one!

Really well written and perfectly paced and structured to fully build the girls’ characters and reveal the secrets of their pasts, Don’t Close Your Eyes was a really enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend.

Don’t Close Your Eyes was a great psychological thriller that kept me hooked from the first few pages. A great five star read that was well written that I loved.

This was such a gripping story...my heart was racing. It is such a good book to read on a long train journey as it made time pass quickly.
