One of life’s little cruelties is that brief moment just before fully awakening when it’s possible to forget reality – for one tiny moment – before it comes crashing in with full force once we leave that safe state. That is Kate’s life now. Once each morning held a promise, now it holds a memory and a guilt that she cannot escape. Kate’s self esteem is at a rock bottom, she holds herself responsible for the accident that changed so many lives. She’d begun to think that maybe there was still brightness in the world when she met her husband to be, Rob. Yet, that is proving different than what she expected as well. Lies and secrets have no place in a loving relationship… and lately it’s the loving that’s in question, not the other parts.

A Kate begins a new life with a new job as a private investigator, she meets Ben for the first time. There are sparks there, ones she knows she shouldn’t be feeling, but it’s hard not to notice a man as handsome as Ben… or one in as much turmoil as she, even if he does his best to hide it.

The case they’re currently working on will bring them closer – and bring out truths that neither one was expecting. Lives are about to be changed. Can something as honest and true as real love survive?

Tell Me No Secrets is a heartbreaking, captivating story. Two people who have faced the greatest tragedies of their lives now must face even more. The outcome is not guaranteed unless love can break through their barriers. Only time, patience and solving a mystery may bring them to their own happy ending.

There are times in a story that I will absolutely loathe characters. Kate’s mother is now at the undeniably top of that list, followed closely by Rob. What despicable people. And the truly sad part is, these types of monsters do truly exist in our world, unfortunately. It was with satisfaction that I watched Ben and Kate leave their pasts behind for a better future together. Nothing can erase the past, but with the right support and people in our lives we can live again… and deserve to be happy. Tell Me No Secrets gives us a good mystery to solve, a look at how devastation affects people differently, quietly rejoice when people do truly get what they deserve in life (the good and the bad) and find a love that is strong enough to not be broken by life. And that is a treasure to hold onto.

There are twists and turns in Tell Me No Secrets, the type that keeps you glued to the page. Not everything is as it seems, and there is a darker level to this story as it moves forward. In all, it’s a thrilling ride that you won’t want to miss.

This story has many layers, and I’m quite certain you’ll enjoy discovering them all for yourself. I’d definitely recommend this story to any reader no matter the genre, but Romantic Suspense readers would particularly enjoy this one.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Kate Duggan blames herself for an accident which killed her brother and crippled her twin sister Eve. She has a constant reminder of the crash – a scar on her face which she camouflages with makeup. Not only does she feel guilty for what happened, her own physical disfigurement has left her with low esteem. When she meets handsome personal trainer Rob, she believes she has found someone who looks beyond the scar and really loves her. Now engaged and living in a cottage her grandmother left her, things appear to have changed. Rob is no longer a warm loving man but bullying and secretive.
Originally training as a lawyer, Kate joined the Met as a police officer . Having left her uniform days behind she is about to begin working for private investigators Parker and Sons. On her first morning when introduced to the owner’s son Ben she feels a spark of attraction but reminds herself she is already committed to Rob. Ben is also attracted to Kate but is still mourning the death of his wife and unborn child. As the two of them begin working together on a drugs case, a close friendship forms.
Lynda Stacey provides all the right ingredients for a thoroughly enjoyable read. She skilfully brings her characters together , introducing us to a hero and heroine still holding onto their painful pasts, a thoroughly unpleasant boyfriend and the mother from hell to mention but a few There are enough plot twists and turns in the plot as it sweeps Ben and Kate in and out of dangerous situations, as you wonder whether they will eventually get together or not. An excellent follow up to her first novel House of Secrets.
