I ended up losing interest on this book and at this point I don't think I'll read it

So, this books was alright. It wasn't an "OMG I can't put this down" read, but I didn't think it was bad either. It was short compared to what I normally read. -I read it in a few hours, so to me, it was a quickie (haha).

After the tragic loss of his girlfriend, and band-mate, to an accidental overdose - Savage Saban disappeared. Ex-rock superstar, addict and bad-boy Brody Kent, formerly know to the world as Savage Saban, never wanted to be near the music industry again. However, to avoid a depressing summer dwelling on the past, Brody reluctantly takes a summer job through his firm as a personal assistant for mega pop-star Skyar Samuleson. She is hot, young and on the rebound from her country-star ex that did her pretty dirty and destroyed her self esteem, but Skylar turns Body's world upside down and gets him to feel something again. She can't help but falling for the mysterious bad-boy. Brody continues to keep his past a secret from the world but some people just can't leave well-enough alone.

I didn't really think the story was that complex, but it stayed focused and to the point. I felt the character development was okay. You had some back story on both Brody and Sky so you understood their motives and emotions, but there just wasn't the kind of tension between the characters that I believe could have taken the story to the next level. I also thought that the antagonist was a bit two dimensional and predictable.

There wasn't much world building. I would have liked for them to have explored more of the places they were throughout the tour. It was shallow in that sense, but I think that adding that element of detail could have made it so much more. We just skipped over time and potential for growth and development. As a result, it wasn't too heavy or intense - it was pretty light in the drama department. I prefer a little more tension and suspense in my stories.

What I thought was going to be a story filled with resisting temptation and tension from a potentially complicated situation/relationship [being on the road and working for/with someone you want more with, but shouldn't get involved with - all the while trying to maintain a professional relationship and keep things low-key], just wasn't. Without spoiling - what I thought was going to be the climax of the story going in, was not at all the peak of the story. For me it was small hills here and there (nothing you can't see over) instead of mountains and valleys.

There is supposed to be a second book (World Tour (Rocking The Pop Star Book 2)) coming out May 23, 2017. I wouldn't mind finding out what happens now in Brody & Sky's story, but I'm not dying to find out either. I'd be alright leaving this series where it is.

I’ve finally managed to get to this book, that has been in my to read Netgalley list for a little while. I have to say that I saw a lot of potential, but unfortunately it ended up not working for me.

The writing was standard for most parts and the book is told in dual POV, first person. My main issues here actually the intimate scenes. I found the writing in these scenes particularly poor and cringy, and the language used didn’t flow well at all.

The characters also had some potential, and I thought their backgrounds were well crafted, however their voices weren’t that strong, and even though there is some character development, it’s choppy and I didn’t feel it was that believable.

But to be honest, my main problem was the plot. I didn’t like the initial premise of this book, or the fact that when Sky hires Brody as a PA, she’s already expecting “extra services” from him. I hated this. It made me not believe in the romance at all. Everything also develops extremely fast, which I think I could have overlooked, if it wasn’t for the small thing I mention previously. The conflict was also very “meh“, but I was at least happy that there was trust between the 2 of them, and it wasn’t blown out of proportions.

In the end, this was a super fast read, but it had potential, it needed more development, more editing, and more relationship between the main characters, that didn’t involve exclusively sex, at least before they started dropping the L-bombs.

If you are looking for a fast feel-good rock romance this is the book for you. It gave me everything that I like in bringing me the inner workings of music along with chemistry between a pop princess and a bad boy rock star. Skylar is the pop star with a stage mom that could only make you cringe; her mom not only ran Skylar’s professional life but her personal life as well. Then we have Brody who was a rock star from a few years ago who gave it all up after his girlfriend and backup singer died of a drug overdose. Brody’s stage name of Savage Saban was the driving force of Kim’s death because he was the one to introduce her to drugs. Brody/Savage’s life was so wrapped up in drugs and groupies and he was spiraling out of control faster than anyone could help. After Kim’s death he stepped out of the lime light and hid under his given name eventually getting clean and giving up music. Now he was hired as a PA for the beautiful pop star, Skylar. He hid his identity very well and was a huge help to Skylar since he knew the ins and outs of the music business. Sky has eyes for this extremely good looking man and she was determined to show him she isn’t the innocent girl that many thought of her. The thing was if her mother would let anything like that happen especially if it could jeopardize her daughter’s career. How far was her mother willing to go to make sure that Sky and Brody never had a chance? Would Brody’s past be seedy enough to turn Sky against him once she found out the truth?

As I said this was a feel-good rock romance that has hooked me and I am definitely looking forward to reading World Tour which is the second book of this series.

This is a quick read with very little drama or angst. Very fast paced as far as the plot moving. The attraction was instant. Brody went from staying away to falling with no thought in between. The characters we likable but nothing stood out for me. Brody had rough past with his rock and roll career. Young and foolish. He lost his love and almost lost his life. He dropped out the industry. I liked him, and the author did not shy away from his struggle with his addiction. Sky didn;t leave much of an impression on me. It was an Ok read for me. I was expecting a little more drama.

It was a very quick read! I like that in a NA or a contemporary and I read this book in one sitting.
I loved the relationship between the two main characters and how supportive they were with each other (and honestly zero relationship drama involved which is nice to see in a book). There was a bit of insta-love and the romance developed really quickly but overall it was a fun and a guilty pleasure read for me.

Savage Saban was on top of the world ... he was a famous rock star and had millions of fans. But he became an addict and took his long time girlfriend Kim down that dark road with him. He survived the insanity, but she died of an overdose. After that he quits his band and goes to rehab knowing that if he doesn't, he will go down the same road as Kim. Five years later he is still clean, and sober, but he is hiding his identity. He is going by his real name Brody Kent and has transformed his body ... no one would recognize him as he also stays away from the music business. But his boss has just given him the temp job of a Personal Assistant to a pop princess.

Skylar Samuelson is the pop princess who has been ruled in business and her personal life by her mother her whole life. As she prepares to start her European Tour and turn 21, she tries to break from her mother by going on this tour without her. Her PA is pregnant, so she hires a new PA ... Brody. She wants to experience life as the pop star she is ... starting with seducing her new PA. Brody finds Sky hard to resist, but he is afraid his past will come back and in turn hurt Skylar. And their story begins!

I received a copy of this book from Jungle Fever Press through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
