Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
When Mags hears that her estranged brother, Abe, has attempted suicide, she goes to visit him at the hospital, where she meets his fiancee, Jody, with whom she forms an uneasy relationship.
As Mags gets to know Jody, she learns more about her brother's life, and she starts to question Jody's version of events of the day of the incident . Was there was more to Abe's "suicide attempt" than meets the eye?
Oh my goodness, I really loved this book. It had me intrigued throughout and culminated in a thoroughly satisfying conclusion. It also had some extremely complex and flawed characters. Highly recommended.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read the GIRLFRIEND by Sarah Naughton.
A young man falls to his death, while his girlfriend watches tries to console him but knows he is almost dead - and she screams. next....
A young woman is stalking a young man in a pub - she catches his eye, she lures him out to the parking lot, she knows what she will do when he gets to her car, and she does it! The young man takes this "affair" as a quick one night stand - but it is much more than that.
Mags' brother Abe is in intensive care when she comes to his bedside - he has fallen down a staircase - and his girlfriend is by his side. Mag's wants to know what happened, and the girlfriend's story just doesn't feel right. Mags has not seen her brother in many years. She now lives in Las Vegas, but has traveled to England because of her brother's accident. Mag's and her brother have had a tough life and they have not spoken in a long time, but she loves him. Mags is determined to find out what happened to her brother and she won't leave until she does.
This book has many voices and goes back and forth in time. Sometimes confusing and alot of information, but all in all, a very good read.
Good Ending. Recommend.

This novel was full of atmosphere so well done I felt I was with or one with each character. After Mag learns of her brothers horrific accident, she goes back to the U.K. where she hasn’t set foot in decades. Her mission is to find out who was responsible for her brothers terrible fall which has him in serious life threatening condition in hospital. Enter Jody, the girlfriend who found him and keeps a bedside vigil. Both women have had horrible childhoods and through flashbacks we learn that people are discrediting their theories on what happened to Abe based on that alone. Lives filled with secrets; lives filled with mystery; lives filled with unspeakable tragedy. The author has done an excellent job pulling us in and making us feel we are one with each character. So raw. My only caution is that this novel will trigger abuse survivors. However, the author did a remarkable job at capturing the various tragedies. Well done!

It was all a terrible accident, a man falls down a flight of stairs, or so his girlfriend Jody says. Mags has been estranged from her brother for some time, but she doesn’t believe Abe’s fall was an accident. Something about his “grieving” girlfriend rubs her the wrong way. So was he pushed, and if so, why? This is a pretty twisted story of revenge that I would have liked better if any of the characters were more likable.
