Despite being utter trash for novels like this I really didn't like cup of danger. I felt that the romance wasn't realistic at all neither were the characters or setting and I DNF'd the book at 40%

Liv and Calen come together amidst her dream turned nightmare marriage. Twists and suspense keep you turning pages to find out the ending. First book in new series.

Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks.

Business can be dangerous, and you're never too old to find love. A great mix of romance and thriller, a unique story and a wonderful read.

This book was good. The story was quickly paced with strong characters & a good storyline. This story had it all, love, hate, back stabbing husband, attempted murder adultery & criminal intent. It was well written & kept my interest.

Well I was disappointed in this book, and in myself to be honest because I picked it. I guess after I read the blurb, I was excitement as was promised, I did not get that, I honestly had to make myself continue to read this book out of obligation and I hate that, I hate devoting time that I could have given a book that I actually enjoyed, because this was so not it. Liv married a much older man Martin, for his money, they were not in love, and his kids, obviously did not really warm up to her, because she was their age, and in reading the story, we find out, that Martin also had lied to them, that Liv did not want them. Martin was a horrible human being, he constantly cheated on her, he stole her company from her, and lately he was turning abusive. We meet Callen. who is comes from Ireland, thinking about going in to business with Martin. He and Liv have instant chemistry, and Liv feels a little guilty (yeah right), anyway Callen, is getting bad vibes from Martin, and then all hell breaks lose, Martin attacks Liv, Callen takes her away, she sleeps with him, someone tries to kill Martin. Martin's kids realize Liz is not the bad person, their dad is, and that their mother committed suicide due to the harsh treatment from Martin, anywhoo, Liz decided she is divorcing him, he goes after her hurts Callen, he finally gets arrested, yada yada yada,.... She marries Callen, and has a baby, and Martin is in jail plotting, why am I giving you all this info you ask? so that I can save you!

This was a great story. There was a bit of everything here, love, cheating, hero, strong women. I look forward to reading more from this author. Definitely, one to read and to continue reading. Will share this with all my friends.

Martin Kane is a despicable piece of trash. A liar, a thief, an adulterous husband, a violent temper and a firm belief in his own godhead. There is absolutely nothing redeemable abut this man. And that is only the beginning.

Over the years of her marriage Liv has had the rose colored glasses rudely ripped off and she sees her husband for exactly what he is. Trapped in an unhappy marriage she really sees no way out since Martin has no desire to let her go free. And what Martin wants Martin gets, one way or the other. This time he’s gone too far when he hit Liv, and she has someone to turn to. It’s time to take back her own life.

Calen traveled from his homeland of Ireland in hopes of making a deal with one of the most successful coffee businesses around. It turns out that the owner wants to take over the company not simply purchase their famous tea. To further complicate matters Calen is attracted to Liv and sees what a desperate situation she is in.

A Cup of Danger is a dark Romantic Suspense story. It’s full of danger, intrigue, double crossing, and just abut any nasty thing you could possibly think of. Martin Kane is not a nice man, and he doesn’t intend to lose – ever. Look for shenanigans and showdowns as several plot twists and turns bring about an ending that is satisfying yet has a touch of a cliffhanger. Mystery and Romantic Suspense readers would enjoy this one.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for this review, so it is with some regret that I have nothing nice to say.

I found almost everything about this book to be half-baked and underwhelming. The characters are incredibly 2-dimension; there's a villain with no discernible motive, a hero with no perceivable personality, and a heroine with absolutely no identity.

There's no passion, an ice-cold build up to a sex scene which feels like an after-thought, and then somehow they fall in love in approximately four point seven seconds.

I found myself speeding up the reading towards the end just so that I could be done with this book.

Ok it's not often that I give a two star rating so I'm going to explain it. This has an excellent storyline but the problems in the book were too many to overlook. Missing scenes, missing words, wrong words, and a total time-line problem. That being said, I love Calen and the characters. There were lovely scenes. And a great ending.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A Cup of Danger is a short, older woman/younger man story. Livia is an unhappy 35 year old woman who has been married to Martin for 17 years. He's a horrible husband: adulterous, cold, selfish and lately, violent. When Livia meets Calen, a man 7 years younger than her, she's instantly attracted to him, but she isn't about to cheat on her husband, even though she knows he cheats on her. But, when things escalate and Martin hits her, Calen is the man she turns to for support.

I found myself wanting more heat between Calen and Livia as I was reading. I really dislike it when sex scenes are fade to black, as they are here in A Cup of Danger. Although I like both Livia and Calen, I feel their connection would have been more believable and more passionate had their scenes been descriptive rather than off screen. I like the secondary cast: Bode, David and Dee, and hope their stories are coming next. If they are, I'd hope they are expanded and given more detail and a stronger connection than was given in A Cup of Danger.

Jennifer Conner is a very talented author. Her contemporary romances are constants on my one click list. A Cup of Danger, though not as light and humorous as my normal reads by her, definitely grabs hold of your emotions. Living a life of privilege while trapped in a world of secrets and danger is not what Livia Kane signed up for. A cold husband with violent tendencies, an emotionless marriage and an attraction she is blindsided by, may just send her over the edge. Hopefully, she can survive the fall.

Hopefully this will be just the start of a great series! Many characters introduced that have great potential for their own stories to be told. Was new to this author, look forward to more in the future!

Certainly a different storyline. Good overall. I liked the story for the most part.

I was a little confused when I discovered this was an older woman/younger man romance, I re-read the blurb to see how I could possibly have missed this information only to discover there's nothing there.
Now as it turns out the age gap isn't really a thing, it's mentioned a couple of times Livia is thirty-five and Calen is twenty-eight and yes seven years is a bigger gap than I would have liked (preferring none or the other way) but it's not a big deal and doesn't really impact the book at all but I still feel it should have been mentioned.
To someone looking in it might appear that Liv has the perfect life after all she has the clothes, jewellery, cars, houses and lifestyle but actually it's draining the life from her. She married a much older man (Martin) and she loved him but he never loved her back and her entire life is a sham.
Calen is over from Ireland trying to get a buyer for his tea, Martin is after buying the company not just the tea, will Calen take the money and run or does he want more?
Calen and Liv are instantly drawn to each other but what chance do they have, he lives in Ireland and she's married.
This was an entertaining little read I liked Calen (I mean seriously what's not to like) and Liv, I felt Martin was a little too OTT at times but that could just be me, I was certainly never bored.
It's also worth mentioning that any sex there is occurs off page.

This author is awesome. Her writing style, her depth of characters and even her modesty in the hot stuff. Sometimes a story is more that hot sex scenes and she delivers well.

Review Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for an honest review. Livia is j. A loveless marriage when she meets Calen, an Irish businessman who is to meet her husband for business dealings. Calen and livia are meant to be and nothing will drive them apart. A refreshing read without lots of love scenes and a good story woven through
