It may just be my opinion, but nothing in this month's preview looking good enough to buy! Maybe I'm just craving something more summery
Thankyou for a really handy and concise guide to the releases of the month. An invaluable asset to bibliophiles such as myself!
This was the first time I have downloaded the Buzz Books Monthly. Gosh there are so many titles that sound interesting but I have to be sensible and restrict the number of requests I make.
The two that caught my interest are The Marsh King's Daughter and The Force. I tried to request the Marsh King's Daughter from the UK publisher (rather than from the link on the sample) but I think it's unlikely I'll get it at this late date since there is a note saying that interest in the title has been unprecedented and approvals will be limited which is great news for the publisher and the author. I may just have to wait till publication day then buy it.
The second title that caught my interest doesn't seem to be available to request.
The publishing calendar is my monthly go-to - I always find a great release I overlooked.
These monthly updates are great and very helpful! In June, I am looking forward to having more time to read and already have a long list. I am especially looking forward to several new mysteries, including Margaret Maron's Take Out.
Several of these titles sounded interesting and I will be checking into them
I love getting to read excerpts prior to publication, and the June Buzz Books is a great example of why excerpts are so effective. Before I read the excerpt of Hunger by Roxane Gay, I was afraid I wouldn't like a book about weight and carrying heaviness. Now, having read the excerpt, I can hardly wait for the book's publication, so I can read it for myself and evaluate it for a nonfiction course I teach. Roxane Gay is such a powerful writer, and she's good enough to draw me in quickly and to make me avid about what she wants to share about being overweight. Body size, weight and hunger are topics we want to shun examining, but Roxane Gay has made me want to read and look carefully. Thanks so much for this excerpt!
Whilst I wasn't particularly interested in most of the adult novel samples, I was thrilled to see an extract of Dividing Eden, a book I have had my eye on for a while. I also read the chapter of Roar which I enjoyed and have added to my shelves on Goodreads.
Thank you very much for this sampler, it has exposed me to at least one great new book I wasn't previously aware of!
A concise and helpful summary of books to look forward to in June along with excerpted from featured authors.
June Buzz Books Monthly
I welcomed the opportunity to read these exclusive excerpts as well as getting a heads up on forthcoming new books of interest for June.
I personally enjoyed 'The Marsh King's Daughter by Karen Dionne and felt it was a plot that I would be able to get into.
I wasn't entertained by 'Hunger' (Roxane Gay), finding it to be rather navel gazing and completely self-absorbed.
'The Answers' by Catherine Lacy was not to my personal taste, as I found it hard to identify with the concept of becoming someone's "Emotional Girlfriend". Therefore, I was irritated by the whole premise of the book. "Feng shui for the energetic body, guerilla warfare against negative vibes" was too much of an ask, if you don't believe in all that new-age health, mystical quackery (being polite here)! I suppose you could say that I'm a sceptic.
'Come Sundown' by Nora Roberts was a pleasant read, but didn't grab me hook, line and sinker, though I detected a potential love interest in Cal and Bodine, which tends to draw me in.
'The Force' by Cora Carmack and 'Dividing Eden' by Joelle Charbonneau did not appeal and are not among my current genres, so I didn't read them.
Many thanks to Netgalley for my copy of June Buzz Books Monthly and I will be looking out for future months' editions.
Excellent book choices, as always! Book Buzz provides teasers and samples of the hottest reads yet to be published.
A great sampler (as always) of titles to look forward to next month.
I love getting these previews!!!! These books give me a chance to see what is coming out soon and start my reading list. Thanks for publishing these!
Insightful! Definitely great to know what books to be on the lookout for. A tad overwhelming though.
Preview of upcoming literature, including debuts. Can't wait to get my hands on The Marsh King's Daughter.
I pre-ordered Roar. It sounds exactly like something I would love. I'm thinking about reading Dividing Eden and The Marsh King's Daughter. We'll see how they fit into my TBR when it gets closer to release date.
I love the opportunity to read these each month. It is such a great way to learn what's coming in the fiction world. There are some excellent excerpts among these titles.
Every month, I look forward to the next Buzz Books. The excerpts either introduce me to books I somehow missed, or get my blood pumping for something I've got in my queue. Great as always!
