Provocative by Lisa R. Jones is a two part series that is totally intriguing from the onset. A full review to come after the second book..

This book grabs you from the beginning. There is not slow build, Nick sees Faith and the pursuit is on. What starts as one night quickly turns to more. Nick has a hidden agenda. Faith has her own secrets. Nick is totally alpha, smart and quick to act on things. He is a successful attorney with daddy issues. Faith is an artist but she is a person who can handle tough situations. She gives Nick a run for his money. She also has daddy issues along with mommy issues. Together they match up well. Will the secrets and lies tear them apart? There is a pretty good mystery playing out. There are a lot of questions that need answering. This sexy and intense story will be continued in Shameless which I eagerly await.

Wow! I'd forgotten how much I enjoy LRJ's writing! Why haven't I read more? Well, that's beside the point. She gives great contemporary romance with a side of mystery and suspense. Oh, and heat. My goodness the HEAT! After finishing Provocative, I immediately pre-ordered Shameless, book #2. Yep.

Nick Rogers and Faith Winter meet under conspicuous circumstances. He's come seeking her out and finds her in a rather embarrassing situation. This situation throws a wrench in Nick's plans - not only because he feels the need to help Faith but also because it makes him question his reasons for seeking her out in the first place. As these two become more and more entangled, more and more questions arise - for Nick, for Faith, and for the reader.

Both Nick and Faith are very compelling characters. Nick with his confidence and control, Faith in her vulnerability and vacillation between her dreams and what she feels is her duty. And the chemistry between them is electric!

The dual POV is the perfect format for this story. One of the things I found most riveting was that although Nick has his secrets - things he's hiding from Faith - we are privy to them. We get a glimpse inside his head and we see some of what's behind his motivations. Faith, on the other hand, has things she's hiding but I have no clue as to what her secrets are. And she's all the more interesting because of that. I'm also fascinated with how LRJ gets into their heads - the psychology behind their personalities. Nick and Faith have definitely been affected by their upbringing - their parents and their parents' relationships. This added so much depth to them both.

What can I say? I'm chomping at the bit for Shameless! I can't wait to have all my questions answered.

A sexy, suspenseful mystery you’ll keep flipping the pages to solve. Once again, Lisa Renee Jones has drawn me into her addictive web of intrigue and romance. The chemistry between Nick and Faith is undeniable and intrinsic, what starts out as a quick fling soon escalates to something neither were expecting. Provocative is a thrilling yet sexy read and I cannot wait to see how the pieces start coming together in Shameless!! I will definitely be reading!!

Sexy and sultry as only Jones can write but with enough plot to keep you turning pages.

Lisa Renee Jones always delivers. Although at first the use of the word "provocative" was a little cheesey.....

This author is a guilty pleasure for me.
First and foremost, that cliff hanger, It also didn't help that the book ended at 84%...I thought I had more time with it, but heck, it will just make the next one more exciting once it is released.
I really enjoyed this book, while the insta love is something I hate, for some reason I am always sucked in so fast and I can't put it down until the end. Yes there was still the annoying right off the bat nickname of "sweetheart" that drove me crazy. All her books seem to do that, but heck, it obviously isn't enough to deter me from reading them.

Provocative by Lisa Renee Jones is a well written and very sexy book that is sure to thrill and please her fans. It revolves around characters, that while new to her stories, inhabit the same time and settings as her prior tales. Jones does not rely solely on the sex to sell her stories, though she is very accomplished in her erotica, but instead infuses each book with mystery and suspense.

There are moments in everyone's life that change the course of their destiny and when Nick Rogers walks into Sonoma's Reid Winter Winery and sees Faith Winter for the first time, he knows that this is one of those moments. He knows that all he had thought before may be wrong and his intentions as well. But can Nick trust his desire or is the evidence that lays before him to great to ignore.

Faith Winter is under attack. From creditors to her own family. The mess of a financial situation left to her by her mother may be too great to overcome and she may lose the winery that has been her inheritance from the father she loved. When Nick Rogers steps between her and those that would hurt her, Faith doesn't know if she can trust him or not. But she cannot deny the desire and attraction that is immediate between them.

Nick is torn between protecting Faith and digging into the past that could destroy her. His father is dead and Nick is positive that Faith's mother had something to do with it. But what he is not sure of as of yet, is whether or not Faith had something to do with his father's death. But what he knows for sure is that he wants her, he needs her and he will have her.

This is book 1 in the White Lies Duet series and it lays the groundwork for a rather involved and well woven plot involving the parents of Nick and Faith. There is even the hint that Faith's mother and Nick's father had an affair. It is well plotted with secrets and lies and the innuendos of past indiscretions that make this book intensely interesting.

What keeps it from capturing me completely and having me wanting to read book two with anticipation are the characters. They are beautiful and sexy and rich and the best at what they do. Faith is an independent strong woman who needs saving by her alpha male. She is also an artist whose insecurities and family obligations keep her from achieving her dreams. Nick is an alpha male lawyer whose reputation precedes him and when he shows up, everyone runs in terror. He can run circles around a courtroom and have any woman he wants. But he wants the woman who may have aided in the death of his father. I have read these characters before. They are one dimensional cut outs for this genre. The names and the faces have been changed to protect the not so innocent, but still I have read them before.

This is a good book with very good writing. It will please her fans but I'm not sure its good enough to bring in any new ones.

Fantastic, Passionate, Magnificen

Faith Winter is taking care of the family winery after the death of both of her parents even if that is the last thing she would be doing. But something big is on the line and she has to find out where did all the money go that was supposed to be paid to all the vendors and such. Her mother seems to be the answer to all the questions….too bad she’s dead.

Nick Rogers aka Tiger is a man on a hunt and his prey is no one else than the sexy Faith. He introduces himself to her in a very sensitive and vulnerable situation for her and being like a prince in a shiny armor but there is more underneath is all. He is after his father murderer and he has his eyes set on the innocent looking Faith.

Lisa Renee Jones…. IS THE QUEEN of this genre!
Lies, Betrayals, Murders, Mysterious plots are HER thing.
She owns it, EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!

She is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite authors and never disappoints! Each time she manages to indulge my mind, captivate my heart and spellbound my soul. And it’s no different here, from the end of chapter one I thought for myself “Damn, she is doing it again”. This will be another home run and sure enough it was. The chemistry between Nick and Faith is so explosive you can feel the fire burning from turning the pages alone.

This story is SEXY fire burning, with INTENSE development, SUSPENSE like no other with so much HOTNESS taking your breath away!!!

Now I crave more and can’t see how I am to survive the wait for book 2! The writing is flawless as always with a perfect pace and I love reading a book that feels like it was written for me and me alone. I connect so well to these kinds of books and am so pleased that Lisa is my go to author for this state of mind and that pleasure is always guarantied.

I love the power Lisa Renee Jones sets in her books that is there for one purpose only and that is to blow your mind away in every way possible. I haven’t read the Inside Out series……*YET, but I am on my way there* and to read about some bits and pieces of it in Provocative was icing on a already so delicious cake!!!

Can’t really write so much more about this book without possibly giving something away but I can say this much… This book is EVERYTHING and EVERYTHING!!!! I recommend this 110% because it’s simply amazing and fabulous and gives satisfaction a whole new meaning or the word!

Mystery, power play, white lies and scorching hot romance all come into play with this new series by Lisa Renee Jones. The hero, Nick Rogers, aka Tiger, is a top corporate attorney bent on revenge against his father’s presumed murderer. Faith Winters is an artist running her family vineyard. There is an insta-connection between Nick and Faith, even though they are virtual strangers. But their mutual attraction comes from a dark place.

Nick is an irresistible combination of tenderness, danger and power and he claims who he is, his enemies call him Tiger. He is intrigued by Faith, but he suspects her of killing his father. He is conflicted and angry with himself because his attraction to her makes him lose focus on his final goal, identifying his father’s murderer. He likes a challenge and Faith is a major one. He has studied her and is biding his time. As they get to know each other, seduction and playful sexiness come into play, and doubts arise.

Nick is in deep and he can only hope that Faith is innocent. Even though they want to earn each other’s trust, he is deceiving her. Faith feels exposed and vulnerable, she is in trouble with her creditors. Nick wants to help her, he always takes charge of situations and wins. But he is more confused than he has ever been in his life, and so was I…

This story had a general atmosphere of deceit, mystery and secrets that I enjoyed. But beware of the cliffhanger! The writing style of Ms. Jones is utterly addictive. I never can get enough of her fast-paced, riveting stories. I can’t wait for the conclusion of this intriguing story!

Title: Provacative
Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Publisher/Year: Lisa Renee 4/18/17
Length: 254 Pages
Series: White Lies Duet #1

Overview

Book one in the sexy and intense new White Lies duet by Lisa Renee Jones!

There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existences, that embed in our minds forever, and sometimes our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us.

The moment I walked into Sonoma's Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments. Provocative because I know at least one of her secrets, of which, I suspect she has many. Provocative because she believes I was a stranger to her when we met, but I am not. Provocative because I sought her out, with no intention of touching her. But now I have. Now I want her. Now I have to have her. But that changes nothing. It doesn't change why I came for her.

My Thoughts

First off - i have to thank the folks at Netgalley for getting me a pre-read of this new series. I'm a huge fan of all things Lisa Renee Jones and while you don't have to read all the others, it's helpful since characters pop up again in this one, chris merit and Sara to be specific.

So in this first book of the White Lies series, we meet Faith who's come back to Sonoma to run her family's winery after her father died 2 years ago and her mother died a few months back. She's stuck dealing with the debts that her mother accumulated and there are secrets being held that she can't figure out since her mother's account are empty and there should be money around.

Then there's Nick - a tough Lawyer who's in town on a mission of his own. He's got a reputation for taking no prisoners and when he comes to Faith's aid, we see that maybe there are other motives. specifically the fact that his father passed away a month after Faith's mom from the same cause, under mysterious circumstances and apparently his father had paid Faith's mom upwards of a million dollars for reasons unknown.

throughout this first installment, we see how the story is set up - There is clear chemistry between these two from the moment that they meet, but Faith has such high walls that it makes their relationship one that's tough to start and unlikely to last. Add to that, the fact that Nick thinks that Faith had something to do with both parent's death, and that's a secret that he's keeping close to himself - and well i think that we've got an interesting twisted story.

while he wants to think she's innocent, there are things that keep turning him the other way, and a twist at the last moment of this book makes you really wonder who's on what side. I'm glad that we only have to wait until July to get the next book since this one was great.

We get all the best parts of Ms Jones writing - really heated and passionate scenes between our mains and a really twisted story of who's right and who's wrong - and who can be trusted. It has all those qualities that make for a great new series.

This book is one that I was hooked from the very beginning and i didn't want to put down.

Lisa Renee Jones is a favorite of mine, and stories like this one are the reason.

For me, it is the characters, and the fact that you get so involved in them that you forget there is something about them that may be an issue, a secret they are keeping...and, in this case, you know from the blurb that there is something going on, that he is there for her for a reason (there are no names in the blurb, so I am leaving them out of this review) but, he is drawn to her. And, she to him. And, as a reader, you are drawn to both of them. They are compelling, you want to know more about them, you want to know their stories, the ones they don't tell anyone.

And, there are always stories in books by Lisa Renee Jones, and that is the best thing about her work. You know you are going to get not just a couple of characters and a plot...but a full story with nuance that leaves you wanting more.

And, then there is a cliffhanger...and that leaves you wanting more too. I am going to need the next one, now, please.

I recommend this book.

Faith Winters, painter, and winery owner. If only that were all she was. She is now involved in an a mystery. Let's see we have a mystery that is her mother and her mother's indiscretions. She has a man that is attracted to her but is known for being a ruthless lawyer, a Tiger . But we will get to him in a bit. Now back to Faith, she has people that want to buy her father's legacy, someone lurking around her that is unknown to her and she has her art that is taking off. A lot in one book I know, but that is what Lisa Renee Jones gives us.
So back to the Tiger or Nick, sexy and dangerous Lawyer that would rip your throat out in court. He is investigating, the death of his father and how it ties into the woman he is now obsessed with. Oh man is this book filled with twists and turns! You might think I have given you some answers but I haven't. I have just teased you into buying a book that will give you an immense rush while reading it. not only will it give you a rush from the heat between Nick and Faith, but you will get it from the suspense and the danger implied through out this amazing read.
Addicting and obsessive that is what Provocative is.

Provocative (White Lies Duet #1) by Lisa Renee Jones
4.5 stars!!!

“Murder brought us together. Lies could tear us apart.”

I have had an amazing reading week this week and Lisa Renee Jones has just added another one to the pile and this is definitely my favourite of hers to date. Provocative is a romantic suspense with a whole heap of sexual tension that keeps those pages turning a mile minute. This was a book that kept my attention from the very start and held me rapt until the very end. Now I am desperate for Shameless and a few months to wait will feel like forever.

“And just like that, Nick has proven I was right about him from the beginning. He is dark lust. He is all-consuming. He is an escape I crave. Maybe he’s even an obsession as he’d called me. But more so, he is dangerous. I sense it. I feel it like I feel this man in every part of me inside and out. But then, so am I.”

Faith is the owner of a winery, inherited from her parents, but at heart she is an up and coming artist. Faith bleeds art and it pains her that she has had to put her career on hold while she rescues the family business her father loved so much. The winery though is thwart with problems and none more so than money, with her mother’s will in probate she is stuck between a rock and a hard place and with creditors banging down the door she is adamant to do the impossible.

“Because you touching me still feels better than you not touching me…”

Nick is a lawyer and one that is hugely successful and highly feared, he didn’t earn the nickname “Tiger” for nothing and more than lives up to his reputation. Nick has done his homework on Faith, he knows her inside out on paper but what he wasn’t prepared for was the connection they shared in the flesh. From the moment these two meet the pages crackle, the tension sizzles and the chemistry only flames. But this was not on Nick’s agenda. But what is Nick’s agenda?

“That’s where we’re differing here, Faith. I’m thinking about every moment I have with you and you’re thinking about goodbye.”

A relationship born from secrets and omissions is definitely going to have its problems and these two are guilty of this on both sides, but it is this that ramps up the suspense and intrigue as Lisa Renee Jones slowly lets slip little snippets of what each of these two are hiding. I loved how the reader is just as ignorant of the truth as the characters, and as these two are enlightened the reader is too. Each fact was safely stored and continually churning around in my brain as I try and piece together the truth just as quickly as Nick our intrepid lawyer. But, what is fact and fiction? What are truths and lies? And basically, what the hell is going on?

“…maybe even from that very first provocative moment when I first made eye contact with Faith, my original agenda has changed. I stopped looking for ways to prove her guilt, and started looking for ways to prove her innocence. That might seem as if it works for her, but the truth is, it doesn’t. Because when I want to believe in someone and they let me down, they betray me, my wrath is vicious.”

The chemistry between Nick and Faith is off the charts. Neither character wanting a relationship and yet both are constantly fighting the inevitable and it is this push and pull that really cemented these two as a couple I wanted to see make it. The banter and dialogue between these two is infectious and really brought these characters to life. It is this that gives them that human touch and gives the reader that all important character connection.

“Do you know why I painted that, Tiger? Because I was trying to figure out why I want to trust you but can’t.”

There is still a lot to come for these two and I am still battling my brain trying to fathom how and where Lisa Renee Jones is going to take their story. The suspense and intrigue was spot on and I love the fact that even having finished this book a few days ago, my grey matter is still churning away. I am desperate for Shameless which releases on July 11th, I cannot wait to see what is in store for these two.
