This book wasn't my particular cup of sweet southern tea. I think it does have a niche following, particularly in the Hallmark Channel watching demographic, but I just didn't love it. The characters felt too perfect, or too evil, or too....much. The author used the plot device of withholding information from the reader in the hopes of a big emotional pay off that I never felt (this happened on 2 occasions, and maybe I just needed to read it better but I definitely am missing one of the plot resolutions...maybe that's coming in the next book?) And the worst part is that it just felt too long. The build up is so Melanie can go off on this sea voyage to find herself and be anonymous after so much fame from this winning trial (honestly I can't tell you the names of any lawyer from any famous case...) AND SHE DOESN'T GO OUT TO SEA! That's the sequel.

It's a long slow burn building up to the action which is put off to the next book. Which in all honestly I probably won't read. I think the character development was good enough, there were a few too many platitudes for my taste, overall I hope the best for the author and think this could do better if I had had different expectations for it.

Melanie Bridges won a multimillion dollar lawsuit against a major liquor corporation for her clients and MADD. She went from being a relative nobody to a well recognized person with celebrity status!
Her law firm was so pleased with her they gave her a tremendously stressful workload which she could not handle and so she turned to alcohol to help her stress.
Melanie is advised to get treatment and take some time off and go sailing in the Caribbean.
Melanie does not realize that her family has a long-kept secret that concerns a Supreme Court Justice that has been given some horrible news by his doctor.
You will have to read the story for yourself to find out what happens to Melanie and what the family secret is

This is the first book of a series and what a series it looks like being. The author Oliva Bridges takes time to build the story and the characters in to a must read the next one in the series going beyond a mere page turner.
After winning a landmark case in the court room we get to watch as her career storms on at a pass and all that this entails. It's a great book to get lost or if you prefer be engrossed in, a time when you are chilled if not you will be and sit back and enjoy. Like in the deep South or so us Brits are lead to believe there is no rush so get to know the cast and the path that brings them to our attention and you will love them. That may not be the story that is told but it is how it plays out.
This book come in 3 very separate parts each following on perfectly from the previous part with their own twists and turns as they progress forward to the next step on the path. If you have the time to sit back and unwind or just to chill and read this is the ideal book.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley for a honest review.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Anonymous through Y&R Publishing and Netgalley:

In this book we are introduced to Melanie Bridges, a small town girl from Carlton North Carolina after winning a landmark lawsuit. A case that rocked the nation all the way to the Supreme Court.

Jordan Melanie's older sister is sucessful as well. She built a name for herself as one of the Top twenty five Oby-Gyn's in the nation.

Soon Melanie finds her taking a small sabbatical but the pictures meant to be momentos somehow end up in the hands of press with captions like "Practice What You Preach."

For several years Melanie finds herself fighting a libel case against the newspaper that drug her name through the mud.

J.R (Justice Williams) is married to Gloria, they have a glorious life envied by millions, but were unable to have children.

While Married Melanie suffered horrific abuse, and years later she finds herself drinking to dull the pain, to fog the memories. Soon Melanie finds herself seeking the help she needs from a Christian doctor. Doctor Johnson encourages her to let Healing take place and to seek the Lord's guidance.

Will Melanie find healing and happiness once more, or will her reputation be forever damaged?

I give Anonymous five out of five stars.

Happy Reading!
