Bastian first sees Julia at the grocery store where she works as a cashier and sample girl. When he finally works up the nerve to approach her, he has somewhat of an accident. I thought this was a good story however, I could have down without all of Julia's dramatics at the beginning of the story when she was daydreaming about Bastian. I thought that it didn't fit with how the remaining story was written. Overall this was a good read. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This is a wonderfully written book about Julia and Sebastian (Bastian).
Julia is a mid twenty-something that works at the local grocery store as the 'sample lady'. She neither loathes nor lives her job. She's just existing until 'Big Sexy' walks in. This is the nickname given to this hunk in the vitamin aisle by her and her best friend, Kevin. He is the bright light of her day in a world otherwise lived in monotony.

Bastian (aka. Big Sexy) is a financial advisor who was smitten with the samples girl the first time he saw her. He decides one day to just ask her out, but something happens that he never gets too.

In the chaos, Julia ends up with Bastian's wallet, but is too scared/nervous to return. She develops the gumption to eventually return it, but soon learns that Bastian isn't all he's cracked up to be.

These two soon enter a whirlwind romance, but secretly realize that this person is the one. The question remains, will the secrets that remain between Julia and Bastian doom them or bring them closer together?

I truly loved this book. It had great timing, pacing and character development. I have read different genres of Virna DePaul's and they have all been fabulous. If given the chance to read this book, you won't be disappointed.

I was given an advanced copy of the book Mr. Rich, I enjoyed the story though it was a little racy with the sex scenes for me. The story was a fun light hearted romance with a HEA which I appreciated, with a little angst mixed in. The book is well written and I would read another book by the author.

is book was just ok for me. I would have liked more substance with the characters. Although I did like Bastian in part because of the picture portrayed of the exacerbation of his Lupus, he still fell a little short. Julia could have been expanded as well, especially her story about college and her playing with Ryland. Big story there that was never expanded upon. Julia's self talk didn't do much for her character either, she seemed too young. Back to Bastian, he could have used more polish. Initially I thought he would be certainly more mature, but that too was a short lived fantasy on my part.
I didn't like the way he handle his illness with Julia, and the way he dumped her. I did like the way she tore him a new one at the beginning of the book. The girl definitely had spunk when she reached deep for it. She was bright and had common sense, so contrary to her character and how she was presented most of the time.
The book felt rushed and choppy. I like Virna and she's written much better books than this. A little slower pace and a little more character development would have gone a long way with this one.

Mr. Rich is a book that had loads of potential. For some reason, the book just fell flat. The characters and the writing were great but something was missing. The book is about Bastian and Julia who live two completely different lives. Julia has been working at grocery store for five years now after a failed stint at school. Bastian is a wealthy financial advisor who has health issues. After a health scare at Julia's place of work, the two connect and eventually start a relationship.

Without giving too much away, I think the book missed on expanding the relationship between the two. The story started out really well but lost it's footing as the book went on.

I liked this book. I cant really say anything that I didn't like about it. I liked Julia. I really liked that she stood up for herself. I think she should have pressed Bastian more about his "ghosting" though. I liked Bastian too. He didn't see like the typical arrogant billionaire type but that was a good thing. I liked them together too. They had good chemistry. I understood the conflict in the story and why Bastian felt that way. I also liked the resolution. Overall it was an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars

Love the way the author, Verna DePaul, weaves the story of two people from opposite sides of the track find true love. There's ups and downs throughout but the author whittles the main storyline that nothing else matters but how they feel for each other. Side characters are well done as well. Having Lupus myself, thought the author did a great job of showing the way those with autoimmune diseases handle life.

Loved it!! Sweet and spicy, this book surprises with snappy humour that makes you fall in love with the book's heroine, Julia. Julia is a gem and Bastian is a dreamy hunk. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the authors writing style and I plan to read anything of hers I can get my hands on.

What a great book. Mr Rich is the first book i have read from this author but i am going to be looking for more of her work. I was so entertained by the characters and story-line i finished this book in one sitting. The chemistry between main characters was amazing. Bastian Rich is a billionaire financial adviser. He suffers from Lupus which has come back after being in remission. Bastian meets Julia a demo girl who hands out samples. Julia was a promising musician when she had a terrible rumor run across campus making her quit her dream. Her highlight of the day is when she sees him. Julia has been crushing on Bastian since the day she seen him buying vitamins in her store. If you are looking for a emotional, sweet, funny, hot romance then give Mr Rich a try you will not be disappointed.

This started off with a poor girl, Julia Rominger, who has a nothing job handing out samples in a grocery store, salivating over the hot guy who comes in to buy vitamins. When he finally talks to her, she freaks out, but then he passes out right there in the store. She looks in his wallet to give his name to the 911-operator and somehow ends up keeping the wallet. When she returns it to the owner Bastian Rich, after snooping through it and checking him out on the internet, it turns out that he’s been coming into the store because he has the hots for the sample girl.

It’s like Cinderella found Prince Charming’s shoe (wallet). I never bought his attraction to her. That’s the problem when most of the narration comes from the woman’s point of view and she’s always talking about how overweight and unappealing she looks. It’s just hard to discard her self-evaluation and believe that she’s so very hot that a great-looking guy would notice her handing out samples of subpar food and other hot guys will be attracted to her throughout the book.

What made this storyline stand out is that Bastian is more than a hot multimillionaire. He also is suffering from lupus and that is why he passed out. He’s embarrassed to be seen as weak so he is contradictory in the signals that he’s sending Julia. Fortunately, for the happiness of their romance, she’s feisty and not ready to give up on him. Which is ironic since part of the plotline is that she’s given up on her own dreams after a bad setback in college.

I found the connection between Bastian and Julia a bit hard to buy, but I still enjoyed reading their interactions and was pulling for them to figure things out.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3-3.5 stars

Nice read for those who like a traditional rom com, meet-cute and the standard trimmings.

After reading Filthy Rich by Virna, which was a 5 star read for me, I expected more from this one, so this was a bit of a let down. Not because Mr. Rich isn't a nice read, but because I think she can do more. To whom much talent is given, much is required and all that jazz

I received an ARC of this book, via Net Galley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Mr.Ritch is a great comedy love story. It is funny and very very hot. Julie feels for regular customer Bastian in the place that she is working. So funny thing happens and Julie is left with Bastian’s wallet. So it takes a whole lot of dreaming and making sand castles before she return his wallet. After the meeting she is shocked and disappointed in him, but he makes up and they begin a causal relationships which ends because they are both coward. Julie is great person direct smart and funny. And Bastian is ok character to. They have some mega mega explosive attraction and action between the sheets are hot hot hot. Funny sweet read

Mr. Rich by Virna DePaul is the first book I've read by this author. I'm impressed and pleasantly surprised. The beginning of the story started out really good and I was intrigued by the characters, but towards the middle it turned into more erotica and less romance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I just wanted more depth to the story and plot development. Overall though it was a cute little story and a light read. I appreciate the opportunity to read the book and Thank Netgalley and Loveswept for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

From the blurb I thought I would really enjoy this read. However, I just can't read any more. I'm 39% in and already skimming large sections so I'm marking this one as DNF.

The reasons it's not working for me are the characters. I can't figure out whether Julia sounds more like a stalker or an immature girl. Her internal monologues over her 'crush' are driving me insane, and that's without her stalker-ish behaviour. I mean, what sane adult does all of the things she does after just seeing someone in a shop? She sounds like a young teen who has never seen a hot guy in her life.

Unfortunately it gets worse. Kevin only adds more drama that is unnecessary as the gay best friend. He's stereotypical, over the top, and adds to the childish narrative of giggling high schoolers stalking a crush.

If all of that wasn't enough, the romance looks like it's heading in a cliched and predictable direction: two guys, jealousy, Julia has a hidden past, and Sebastian is hiding something too. Oh, and she's also the curvier type of girl who can't believe a hot guy wants to date her. I have no idea if I'm right with my assumptions, but I can't read any more to find out.

I'm sorry, but this is a relatively short book and there are too many stereotypes and cliches for me to continue. It's been a while since a book made me feel this strongly, but I really can't enjoy the writing in Mr. Rich, which is a shame because the blurb really sold it as a book I would like.

Sorry, but it's a DNF.

Very refreshing to have the rich guy hero be the vulnerable one, for once. I liked that Bastian had to chase after Julia and that he had to battle his own insecurities to do so. Bastian gave good grovel.

What I didn't like were the romance cliches. Julia's flamboyant gay BFF who drooled after Bastian and told her to chase her dreams. The other convenient man to fuel Bastian's jealousy. Julia's "secret" broken past. It felt like a lot of this was pure filter to drag out the story.

Also, I wasn't a fan of the forced humor such as the icky description of the old man using the cotton swab in the supermarket. The crude attempts at humor were pretty jarring next to Bastian's later, more tender pursuits of Julia.

Julia was likeable and I did like how she put Bastian in his place right away, I enjoyed their banter. It was an easy read and kept me interested although was a bit predictable.
