I might sound like a broken record, but Opal Carew is definitely one of my favorite erotic romance authors. She hit it out of the park with her recent Dirty Talk series. Her latest release, Heat, is another super hot, emotional story that I enjoyed.

Rikki has moved to a new town in hopes of getting a fresh start. Her first love, Jesse, was a firefighter who was killed in the line of duty. Even though it has been years since he passed away, she has never fully healed or recovered from that loss. Additionally, Rikki has a policy against ever dating a firefighter again.

When Rikki goes out on the town with her new roommates, she meets two sexy guys, Carter and Simon. There's a strong attraction between all three of them, made more electric when the guys reveal that they're so close that they share everything. Unfortunately, Rikki has a little too much to drink that night, so even though she wants to explore something physical, the guys refuse to take advantage of her. (+1 for Carter and Simon.)

Meanwhile, Rikki has been hired as a photographer to shoot images for a firefighters' calendar to benefit charity. She's surprised, though, when she attends a meeting at the fire station and in walk Carter and Simon. Yep, they're firefighters.

At first, Rikki's firmly against pursuing a relationship with them because of the inherent danger of their jobs. Also, she still feels loyal to Jesse, even though he's gone. But then the guys convince Rikki to explore the chemistry between the three of them, made more complicated because Rikki is quite inexperienced sexually.

There's a lot going on here: the ménage aspect, Rikki's grief, and the fact that she's a virgin (though not for long). As Rikki's relationship with Carter and Simon grows, she learns to move forward and no longer be trapped in the past.

Carter is the sweeter, more laid back of the two, where Simon can be a bit of a hot head and quicker to become jealous. When an old friend from Rikki's past surfaces, a new conflict is added to their already complicated arrangement.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. Rikki has been through so much tragedy and I just wanted her to find happiness. For the most part, her interactions with Carter and Simon are playful and sweet--when they're not hot and dirty, that is. Although there is an angst factor to the story, it's dealt with appropriately and in a sensitive way.

I can always count on this author to bring the heat with her books, which makes that a fitting title for this book. The story also satisfies on an emotional level, which makes it another great read from Carew.

When your one love passes away on duty you are determined to never be in that situation again, This is what Rikki to;d herself, however when her friend convinces her to photograph firemen for a charity calendar she ends up in the same situation. Not with one firefighter but two at the same time together.
This is a story about letting go and giving in to something you never thought you would be interested in.
I thought it was a good story and the heat factor is very high

Four alarms and a cool rag! Wow, this was one hot story. The author sure knows how to light things up and still tell a story! Opal Carew covered all the bases on this one with not just one buff guy, but a whole firehouse full of them! And we had to settle for the story of just two – bummer. Maybe she’ll continue with this and give us more of the same.

It’s a little more erotic than maybe some people are expecting but the hot scenes should cause an instant meltdown to readers! One virgin photographer and two experienced guys – but she’s not as inexperienced as you might think. At least her thoughts have kept her satisfied along with BOB, but with the real thing staring at her, she’s just not going to let it pass her by anymore! Fun read, lots of hot scenes, and a story in there somewhere I’m sure.

Heat
Opal Carew
3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not too sure about this one. As much as I enjoy steamy books, I like the ones I read to have a plot to them. The plot in this one was basically sex and more sex.
Each time I thought there was gonna be more to the story it reverted back to sex. I also didn't like the constantly changing point of views.
So over all I'm only giving this 3 stars because it kept my interest enough for me to finish it.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Heat is aptly titled!

Long time fan of Opal Carew's writing. I adored the instantaneous chemistry between the threesome. Rikki's character was a little wishy-washy; I both loved and hated that about her.

Can't wait to read more about the sexy firefighters that share a station with Simon and Carter, especially the sexy tattooed Dodge.

Sexy firemen...check
Serious heat...check
Steamy, naughty thought inducing and leg shifting reader involvement...check
Hot menagerie...check

All the beginnings of hot, filthy fun just add batteries. Lol.
Was it hot? Yeah, it was. The problem is that I couldn't really connect with the characters. I wasn't emotional attached. It felt more like a fun romp but it is still some naughty fun.

Hot, sexy menage!

Rikki loved and lost her studly first love firefighter, so she shut herself off from life for awhile. Now she's being reawakened by a connection she felt for an off-limits guy ... or two!

When she ends up in a hot love affair with two firemen, will she put aside her fears and enjoy a future or will the never ending pressure of wondering if they will come home from their dangerous jobs every day be too much for her to handle?

Not my favorite book from Carew. The characters and storyline felt a bit off compared to other books. There was a lot of back and forth going on. At times it seemed almost too much and took over.

I'm a big Opal Carew fan and I love most every thing she writes but I am on the fence about this one. While I love that it was set in Virginia, where I live, I just couldnt connect to the character Rikki. The story was good and the sex scenes hot as h@*&. I hope to read more from Opal.

Rikki, Carter, and Simon were 3 steamy characters. Rikki moved to a new town to start a new life after she lost her fiancé. Her friend set her up to make a calendar of firefighters to raise money. Rikki met Carter and Simon at a bar and had an epiphany that they all belong together. She drank too much and ended up going home with both of them. They were gentlemen and didn't take advantage of Rikki. To her horror the next day she found out that they are both lieutenants of the fire department where she will be making the calendar. One conversation leads to another and they are exploring their feelings. Things only heat up from here. I liked their story, but at times I wanted to strangle Rikki because she couldn't make up her mind. As always Ms. Carew's stories keep you engaged.

Great premise with some muy caliente love scenes. Granted, you kind of have to suspend belief a little with the love scenes - a virgin is ready to go all in on her first time and knows exactly how to perform oral...seems a little suspect. That said, once you get past that, this was a fun read. The supporting characters helped the story (although I think Rikki had a few too many roommates to keep track of) and I liked the guys in the fire house enough to hope that they get their own story before long.

Another example of Carew being a reliable author that you can count on to give you heat and a fun time.

Sheets on Fire !!

Wow, Ms. Carew delivers the goods in this steamy edition of two hot, sexy firemen bent on winning the heart of a reluctant female.

Rikki’s trying to move on from a relationship that ended tragically, even going as far as starting over in a new town, new career, and roommates. This was a good time in her life to set new roots and live in the same town as her best friend from college, Cassie. And Cassie’s got her working her skills as a photographer helping create a calendar with gorgeous firemen to help fund the local charity. What she didn’t expect was to meet the two men, she lusted the night before at a bar, to be firemen. Rikki is immediately drawn to Simon and Carter, but she’s not willing to let down the walls surrounding her heart since the tragedy with Jesse, her fiance who was a fireman, and lost his life in a rescue. Rikki isn’t sure she could live in constant fear over their dangerous jobs and survive losing them.

Carter Fenn and Simon Davies are both attracted to Rikki, and they have no problems sharing. These gorgeous men are protective, reliable and attentive when it comes to Rikki. It was fun to see them bring out their arsenal of sensual skills to reignite Rikki’s sexual appetite and convince her they mean to make her theirs. But then the unthinkable happens. Can Rikki get over her confusion and hurt?

Heat is pure entertainment with plenty of steamy, sizzling action. You can’t pick up an Opal Carew book without getting lots of sinfully, wicked goodness and romance.

Rikki's first love was a firefighter and after he died, she decided to protect her heart by pouring her desires into the novels she writes. When research on her latest book brings her to a firehouse, she's determined to keep it professional, but these men are too hot and charming to resist. And when firefighters Simon and Carter make it clear they're willing to help her fulfill her steamiest fantasies, Rikki realizes she's going to lose more than just her cool.

As Simon and Carter help Rikki unlock her desires, she finds herself falling for both men. But how can she give them her heart when they can't promise she won't lose them too?

Review:

Well, this is my second ménage for this week.

I must say this for both books being ménage relationships neither book showed three people on the cover which might fool some people if they don't read the blurb, just saying.

This is the story of Rikki who goes all out with her first sexual encounter and has sex with two men. Okay, that had me pausing for believability sakes, again, just saying. Hey, at least it was with two hunky firemen, Simon and Carter. The story had a lot of potential if some of the things they did were not a little far fetched. I really liked that the one thing in this relationship that Rikki is afraid of is the one thing that she must overcome to get her HEA. Another thing I liked was using a fundraising calendar as the thing that brings the three of them together again. You see those fireman calendars everywhere nowadays.

So overall if you are looking for a quick, sexy read than reading this should fulfill that need.

3.5Stars

HOT!!! This book was super hot with sexy scenes that had my kindle smoking. What I love so much about this authors books is that she can write the best steamy scenes but also a very sweet romance as is the case with this book. I loved the characters and the story - can't wait to read more by this author!

I really loved this steamy ménage read! Rikki is trying to start over after the love of her life, a firefighter was killed. Now to get her photography business going she agrees to shoot a sexy firefighter calendar to help raise money. She meets Carter and Simon at a bar and is surprised the next day at fire station when she learns they are firemen. Will she keep her vow and stay away from these sexy firemen or will she risk her heart again? I admit Rikki can be a bit annoying, but I really liked the story and the steamy sex, a good read.

Even though the sex scenes were hot, this was just an okay read for me. The heroine and one of the heroes had some moments where they just annoyed me to the point that I didn't like them, but they were true to life. The story flowed, but I just really didn't connect with heroine. What was with all of the men wanting her?!

A deliciously naughty book about taking chances on your soulmates. Rikki had lost the love of her life and vowed not to be involved with another firefighter. Starting fresh in a new town with a new career she walks into a bar and there they are two gorgeous men with whom she feels an instant connection. At times humorous and fun not to mention the fact that they cannot keep their hands off each other I finished this book in a few hours. A good summer read.

I love Opal Carew stories, she brings the heat like no one's business. Often there are some menage elements, but the heroine ends up with one man, in this case, the whole story is a menage and the lucky heroine ends up with not one hot firefighter, but two! As one comes to expect from Carew there were smoking hot scenes aplenty and I did adore both men. Carter and Simon were my favorite things about this story in fact. I'll admit, the heroine, Rikki, fell a bit flat for me. I understood her pain after losing her fiance, but she came off very whiny. Luckily Carter and Simon were there to help me ignore the moments when I found Rikki less than a favorite.

Having read and enjoyed other books by this author, I was excited to read this newest one. While I really liked the premise of the book, I had some trouble liking the heroine, Rikki. Having loved and lost a firefighter, Rikki has vowed to never get involved with another fireman. But fate has other plans, when Rikki finds herself falling for two firefighters. Simon and Carter know that Rikki is the one for them but she is afraid to risk falling for men with such a dangerous career. Rikki came across as whiney and indecisive. Despite getting heavily involved with Simon and Carter, she still goes out with another former friend and contemplates getting involved with him simply because he is no longer a fireman. Her stringing everyone along of course leads to hard feelings and makes it difficult to like her. Otherwise the remainder of the book was good. Full of some very steamy scenes, not all of which were ménage but many were. A quick but fairly enjoyable read.
