As I've come to expect from this author and this series, Fierce Obsessions was a hit out of the ballpark for me. I just can't get enough of these cast of characters! And not only are the characters awesome, but each and every book is filled with a crazy amount of steamy romance, witty dialogue that will have you laughing so hard you can't take it, and enough suspense to keep you glued to your e-reader!

In Fierce Obsessions, we finally get to see Tao and Riley get together. They are friends/enemies at best up to this point, but the attraction between them was so much more than simple lust. They definitely complimented one another well. I was excited to get the backstory with Riley, because she's always been a mystery since she showed up, but it was easy for me to pick out the bad guy despite the circles the story line seemed to run in about that particular aspect. That aside, this was still a kick-ass book and I couldn't put it down from page one. One thing I loved the most about the book, was the fact that her new pack had her back in a way she had never experienced before. It was heartwarming to read and it just made me love this pack even more! So...with all that said you definitely need to read this one. I think it could be read on it's own, but why would you want to miss out on all of these awesome characters and not read them all???

Fierce Obsessions is one of those books that I put off reading. Now, after completing this beautiful story, I am wondering why. Riley Porter was introduced in book 5 of the Phoenix Pack. If you never read book 5, my advice would be to stop and go back and read Savage Urges.
Riley Porter is a raven shifter whose life was filled with discord, pain, and sorrow. And now it seems that the fates are not finished playing games with her life.
Tao Lukas is the Phoenix pack enforcer. He doesn’t like lone shifters, especially ones who might be carrying secrets that might come to harm his pack. But, for some reason he can’t stop the attraction he feels towards the all secretive Riley Porter.
It was nice to see all the old characters from the other books make an appearance. Fierce Obsessions is that one book that you might just want to read repeatedly all summer long. The interaction between Tao and Riley was beyond hot. I really liked how this story turned out it was rather entertaining.

I am a huge fan of Suzanne's books. I loved all her paranormal books so far, starting with Deep in Your Veins series, through Phoenix and Mercury Pack to Dark in you.
I just know that it doesn't matter which book of hers I grab, it will not disappoint me.
This one was no exception. It's true that it is a lot like the previous ones and that they all have a similar pattern, but that doesn't change the fact, that I still enjoyed reading it. A lot.

Fierce Obsessions is a story of Tao and Riley. We've met both of them in the previous books and now we finally get to read their story. Although they represent different species - he is a wolf and she is a raven- they have great chemistry and are perfect for each other, even though they do not see it at first.

I liked both their characters a lot.
Tao - so strong, possessive and sexy as hell and Riley - laid back and funny girl with sassy mouth, but also an amazing guardian to two little orphaned children: Dexter and Savannah. She protected them so fiercely. I admired her for that.

Their story was well-written and filled with plenty of emotion. It was hard for me to put it down. Especially since in this book we also get to read some bits about other members of Phoenix Pack, which is great, cause I miss them a lot and like to see more of them.

If you're not familiar with this series and Suzanne's writing, you should definitely give it a try. You won't be disappointed. She definitely is one of my favourites.

Suzanne Wright has added another awesome Phoenix Pack book to the series, and this one is one I've been wanting for awhile. Because scowly-faced, stoic Tao finally has fallen in love. And it was so much fun to read about.

One of my favorite parts about this paranormal shifter world that Suzanne has create is that we're not just talking about wolves here. Although the series centers around a wolf shifter pack, the author has very cleverly and slowly woven other types of shifters into the mix. Not only are they there, but these other types of shifters are now falling in love with the wolves that we've known from day one.

Riley entered the story a few books ago when we learned of the sanctuary that helps lone shifters of all types. She was a sort of surrogate mother to several of the shifter children there - namely a cheetah shifter boy and a viper shifter girl. When the Phoenix Pack took in the children, Riley came as a package deal. Riley is a raven shifter, and although not technically a lone shifter - she has a home flock and family - she hasn't lived with them for four years due to a rift with some of the other members of the flock.

Tao has been dancing around Riley in his own way ever since her first saw her, and he has finally decided to make his move. As you can imagine, when Tao decides to act, nothing can deter him. Not even a stubborn, independent raven. When Riley has to return to her home for a family engagement, Tao goes with her. And it's a good thing too, because members of the flock are turning up dead, and Riley appears to be a link to the murders.

Although it's clear she has a definite connection to Tao, I loved that Riley didn't automatically fall at his feet. Quite the opposite. She has no problem acknowledging their attraction and acting on it. But, she required a bit more from Tao before conceding to be his mate. She needed to trust him. To get to know him. And vice versa. I really like Riley and how strong she was. I loved how protective she was of the children and how she cared for them.

Despite half the book taking place at Riley's flock, there was still plenty of time spent at the Phoenix Pack compound too. We saw all the pack members we know and love and got to see them interact together. It's really one of my favorite parts. Now with Tao paired up, one of the last ones I can't wait to see find a mate is Dominic. Hopefully his turn is coming soon!

OMG Tao's story I just loved it.

This book is an absolute must-read, it kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

This story had a little bit of everything; suspense and romance. I can't wait to see what's next.

No-one writes shifter novels quite like Suzanne Wright!

I fell in love with this author's work after she was recommended to me by a 'bookfriend.'

In Fierce Obsessions Tao and Riley are a strange match, or so it seems. It very quickly becomes clear that they are in fact, highly compatible. Tao is determined to protect Riley, even if it's from herself.

As we have come to expect, things don't particularly run smoothly and the feelings of the two main characters are tested. Despite this, Tao is absolutely sure that Riley is 'the one' for him.

Riley's quick wit and sarcasm is more than a match for 'Gretchen' and puts her firmly in her place on more than one occasion.

The story of Riley, Tao and their extended family is definitely one to share.

This is the usual entertaining story we expect from Suzanne Wright. Here writing has a way of drawing the reader into the story. We venture into the Phoenix pack once again with fun mixed in with a danger. Riley and Tao are opposites that somehow find themselves matching. Riley is a raven shifter and Tao is is wolf. On paper they don't make sense. When they first meet, Tao tries to get rid of her. After one night together, he can't stand to be away from her. They both are strong character. Tao is the alpha male with strong protective and possessive traits. Riley is also a strong female. She gives Tao fits throughout the book. Watching the relationship develop is great. They went from enemies to mates. It was not overnight. it took the course of the book. The dialogue, as usual, is fun and quick witted, Great series!

This was another great addition to the Phoenix Pack series. I want to start with, that you should definitely read the first five books in the series to understand what is going on. This book is about Riley and Tao. Riley is a raven shifter who has been living with the Phoenix pack, and Tao is the head enforcer for the pack. Tao does not trust Riley, and Riley is hiding secrets. At first glance, it seems that these two shifters cannot stand each other, but there is more to it than meets the eye. Riley is hilarious with her made up facts and tendency to steal shiny objects. Tao is an alpha male and he always gets what he wants. These two are perfect together. There was drama, suspense, intrigue, and of course romance. I would definitely recommend this book, and cannot wait until the next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Sixth volume in the Phoenix Pack series, Fierce Obsessions features the pack’s chief enforcer Tao and one of the newcomers, raven-shifter Riley.

We find a little the series’ usual pattern with emotionally closed characters, but less than some previous couples. By the way they open to the other quite quickly and don’t struggle for long against their feelings.

Tao is once again a possessive and dominating male, but he’s less than his predecessors, which I found appreciable. Likewise riley, who says refusing to become attached to anyone, already has profound links with some of the previous heroines and with the children towards whom she’s very protective. I especially liked how the little viper-shifter girl returns the feeling by being protective and threatening in front of Tao.

We learn they have avoided and distrust each other till Riley’s arrival in the pack at the end of the previous volume but we see nothing of this time as the novel begins the morning after their first night together (after a too boozy party) and their relationship begins directly. So I’d rather not have known they couldn’t stand each other for some months, I was wondering if it’s possible to change one’s mind so fast or be so much mistaken on one’s own feelings. Of course we see torrid love scenes that are the author’s trademark and are still so pleasant to read.

As for the plot, first I liked seeing the interactions in a flock of ravens during Riley’s visit to her family. Beside the familial groups they are more individualistic than the mammals met until now even if they have some loyalty to their flock. There’s also some moments showing the characteristics in the ravens’ nature and behavior as there was for the other shifters species added to the series before.

Secondly there’re two distinct plots: one with the bad guy ready to do anything to have the help of Taryn, the pack’s alpha female, and one with the person mad at Riley. The final battle was especially bloody and highlighted Riley’s physical differences.

However I begin to be tired of Greta, the alpha’s grand-mother who spends the series criticizing and belittling each heroine in turns. What felt funny at the beginning, with the biting comebacks between Greta and the heroines, isn’t anymore through repetitions even though the slanders renew themselves. I don’t understand that nobody suffocated her with a pillow during her sleep yet.

Title:  Fierce Obsessions
Series:  The Phoenix Pack Book #6
Author:  Suzanne Wright
Genre:  Romance, Paranormal
Blurb:   When raven shifter Riley Porter was given sanctuary by the Phoenix Pack, she let them believe she had left her flock. Reluctant to divulge the secrets of her past, she was still embraced as family. Only Tao Lukas, the protective and passionate Head Enforcer of the pack, was resistant to the enigmatic shifter. Until Riley started to arouse in him something other than suspicion.

Tao doesn’t trust lone shifters, especially ones so guarded—and tempting. But the sexual tension between them is making them both come undone, and vulnerable to more than desire. All Tao wants is for Riley to stay with him and to trust him with the truth of her past.

As Riley’s mysteries come to light, so does a danger that threatens not only her life but the safety of the entire pack. For Tao, keeping Riley safe means keeping her close—forever—as his mate.
Thoughts: One of my favorite paranormal authors is Suzanne Wright. She’s amazingly talented, and has the unique ability to lend individuality to each of her characters – which makes it so easy to fall in love with all her characters. If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll easily recognize both of our main characters – Tao who we’ve know from the very beginning, and Riley who is one of the more recently introduced characters. It was nice to learn a little bit more about her and her raven’s ‘flock’ and see a little more of the dynamics between these two characters. Tao and Raven have a chemistry and a relationship a little bit different from any of the others, with a bickering, teasing, and even toying aspect to their attraction.
Fierce Obsessions, of course, features the other ‘pack’ characters – which may be a little overwhelming if your new to her as an author, but from just a story aspect it can be read as a stand alone. I recommend reading them in order though – and they are all well worth a read. Though as a heads up, early readers also may notice a bit of a discrepancy in the storyline from book one (the original one anyway), as it was changed and edited a little bit to include removing a scene. If details are your thing, I imagine that that may bother you to the point that it detracts from the enjoyment of the book a little, but for me it was a non-issue.

Man, I love me some shifter smut! 4.5 stars!

I love Suzanne Wright, and the Phoenix Pack books are among my favourites of hers. This is book #6 in the series, and if you’ve read any of the others then you will know what to expect – a strong female character, an even stronger alpha male, wisecracks, banter, epic insults and put-downs, strong paranormal themes, a bit of intrigue and excitement, lots of laughs and of course a wickedly sexy romance that is hot, lots of fun and gorgeously romantic. Yes, it’s formulaic, but it’s fun and it works, and I loved this one!

This book is about the Phoenix Pack head enforcer, Tao. In previous books Tao has been the quiet, stoic man in the background. He is strong, serious and completely dedicated to his job protecting his packmates. And that’s why, when the pack took in raven shifter, Riley, he was instantly cagey about the new, unknown, secretive and highly defensive presence in his life. But there’s also an attraction that he cannot deny, and this book begins with a bang – or post bang as it were – with Tao and Riley waking up after a drunken night together. And we’re right into the action as Tao decides that one night isn’t going to be enough.

“If you expect me to walk away and forget what it’s like to be in you, tasting you, exploding deep in you, you’re out of your mind.”

And though she puts up a fight, Riley is more than happy to go along with that… in her own unique way…

“It does help your case that you’ve got as much dick in your jeans as you have in your personality.”

Neither of them are interested in anything permanent, but their connection is undeniable and they’re happy to enjoy each other – and OMG, do they enjoy each other! Like the other couples in the series, there’s a strong sense of antagonism to their romance (it’s the shifter way), and that translates into steamy hot, almost combative sexy time that is passionate, intense, and so, so hot! But along with all of that intensity, comes a sensational sense of fun, and I just loved the dynamic between them. The girls in this series are smart, sassy, and not afraid to give just as much as they get, and I loved the playful, smutty banter that is a huge part of Tao and Riley’s relationship.

“I'm thinking about fucking your mouth, to be exact.”
“Of course you are,” she said drily. “You're a boy. Boys are delusional.”
He smiled. “You're not going to let me feel what it's like to slide my cock in your mouth? That doesn't seem fair. I go down on you all the time.”
“Oh, I won't deny you eat pussy like a champ.”
He laughed. “Like a champ?”
“Totally. But you know, over seventy percent of erectile dysfunction cases are caused by having too many blow jobs.”
“They are not.”
“They could be.”

Riley is a lone shifter who left her flock four years ago, but she receives a call inviting her back for a special occasion and it’s one that she can’t refuse. Being the protective alpha male that he is, Tao goes along for the trip. But returning to her home uncovers tragic secrets from the past, and a new danger emerges, threatening Riley and her family, and brining the Phoenix Pack to her defence as they fight to protect their own and uncover the threat.

It’s exciting and intriguing, and I was fully invested in the mystery/suspense part of the storyline, which is blended wonderfully in with Tao and Riley’s story – because let’s face it, it’s all about the romance, and I thought the development of the love story between Tao and Riley was really nicely done. Every single moment is dripping with chemistry, but the growing emotion is a gradual, natural thing, and I could feel the shift between them as their feelings for each other grew deeper. It’s beautifully explored, and there are some gorgeously swoony moments as they fall for each other easily and without angst and drama, and I loved the way their story played out.

“It doesn't matter to me if you're the other half of my soul or not. You're in my soul. I don't know how you got there, I really don't but you are.”

The rest of the Phoenix Pack are a big part of the story, and I loved seeing all of the other couples. And I enjoyed the introduction of new characters – both the beloved and the evil – in fact, probably more of the evil, because the smart-mouthing is hilarious and had me laughing out loud as always.

“You know, Cynthia, there are no guys standing around with their pants down, so I can’t help but ask myself why the fuck you keep opening your mouth.”

As always, I loved the paranormal parts of the story. The shifter dynamics and politics keep the story engaging, and really drag you into another world. And for the first time, I loved exploring the avian world with Riley as a raven shifter. And I thought the combination of the wolf and the raven together was beautifully done.

I really enjoyed this read. It was everything I was hoping for, and I’m looking forward to more from this fun, sexy and exciting series.

4.5 stars.

I hate to say this but is it me or is this series starting to feel a bit repetitive? Gaah! I adore this series and the authors work but with the release of the last few books I’m starting to find more and more faults with them and I honestly don’t want to. I want to love them all but for me Fierce Obsessions was my least favourite book from the series.

This story started WAY too quickly. There was no suspense, no build up, it was just WHAM and the story had already started before I even knew it. I guess I felt a little cheated. Tao has been always been a favourite character of mine so I was majorly excited when he was getting his own story but something about his and Riley’s story just didn’t click. I’m not sure if the author gave us any hints that the story would involve Tao or Riley (maybe I forgot if she did, I don’t know) but I was a little surprised that Riley was Tao’s love interest. And that’s not because she’s a raven shifter which was pretty cool to read about but, because I never felt any hint or spark between the two characters during previous books. It’s like the story starts and Tao is already so in love with Riley that he’ll do anything for her – it was all just so quick.

I also wasn’t a fan that most (I say most, I mean half) of the book taking placed away from the Phoenix territory. Tao and Riley leave pretty early on to go visit her Raven pack and I wouldn’t have minded but it was so early on that I wasn’t invested in Riley that much as a character to care what happened before she became a lone Raven. I wanted to get to know Riley more before having to get to know all the people from her life before and also I wanted more time to explore Tao and Riley’s relationship before being whisked away from my favourite pack, so yes, I felt it took me away from the story a little.

And Greta – I used to find her funny now she just grates on my nerves. Please do something about her!

The rest of the story was pretty enjoyable to read and I loved being back with my favourite characters. I understand with a series this big that I won’t enjoy every book but I feel like the last few have been a little rushed and I’m hoping the author will slow down a little. I will continue to support the author and this series because I do love them, it’s just a shame I couldn’t enjoy this one more.

Thank you to Montlake Romance for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

The minute I learned Fierce Obsessions was coming out I grinned like a lunatic and yelled “Gimme!”. The books in this series tend to follow a certain formula but what a formula it is. Ms. Wright’s heroes are always OTT alpha’s that can dirty talk like nobody’s business, her heroines are badass and snarky, and the chemistry is off the charts hot. Needless to say, I cannot get enough.

Fierce Obsessions starts with a bang, well, technically it starts with the after effects of a drunk-out-of-your-mind kind of bang. Riley wants to forget it ever happened but Tao has a different idea.

I read that quote (to the left) and immediately messaged Sparkles and Lily thrilled that I’d hit the dirty talking alphahole motherlode. I could wax poetic about how freaking awesome Tao is for days but I’ll just say he’s hot, sexy, awesome, sneaky, and absolutely perfect for Riley. He played her like a fiddle, in more ways than one.

I’ve wanted to know more about Riley since Makenna’s story. The fact she’s a raven is cool enough, but the mystery surrounding her and the way she was so protective over Savannah and Dexter intrigued me. Nothing about Riley disappointed and I was thrilled she was such a good match for Tao. Her story was heartbreaking and nothing like I thought it would be. When the action moved over to her old flock, things took on a whodunit type vibe with fingers pointing everywhere. I did enjoy meeting Riley’s uncles, but I gotta say, the rest of her flock were less than impressive.

Along with the mystery going on over at Raven’s flock, a mobster wants Taryn to perform an impossible task and gets offended when she doesn’t comply. Although interesting, as a side story it felt unneeded and I kept wanting to wave it away when it came up. When things heated up, I think it took away from the final resolution to the mystery and the ensuing battle.

My other little niggling annoyance was Greta. Her antics are becoming more annoying than anything else and just aren’t funny anymore. Since she regularly targets Savannah and Dexter, I’m finding I have less and less patience with her and also wonder why the men put up with it. Her excuse for targeting a child didn’t hold water for me at all.

Even with my two little issues, I loved this book and absolutely devoured it. Both Tao and Riley were everything I wanted them to be. Fierce Obsessions was fun, suspenseful and hotter than Hades. I’m hoping Dominic is next, but it very well could be Trick. Either way, I’ll be thrilled.

I'm just kind of tired of the usual female bullying that is abundant in this series. It's not just an instance, it's sprinkled throughout the book. It was ok the first time. It started to grow old around book 3. Why does every older female in this series have to be a jerk? (I refuse to use the word bitch because that's all that is used to described them by Ms. Wright herself. It's nauseating.) I'm just done. The insta relationship that you don't really see the start of for THIS book makes the story drag. It's BAM. It's there and not a lot of explaining or whooing involved. Just endless drama from other parties to move the story along. I know. This is particular series that has a formula. Either you like it or you don't. I just don't anymore.

Another great addition to the Phoenix Pack series! I loved the idea of Riley being a raven shifter and Tao is a wolf. It took back the the 1985 movie Ladyhawke; I really like the scene of Riley in raven form riding on Taos back in wolf form. As always the story is steamy; although I do skim some of this now because it is kind of repetitive. But the storyline was really good and kept me intrigued.

I still can’t wait for Dominic's story and I can’t wait to see what woman take him down a notch. Well Done!

I can't get enough of The Phoenix and Mercury packs, so when I see a new book come up, I have to grab a copy and read it ASAP. I have loved each and every couple that was featured and introduced and I continue to love the world and storylines.

Riley has been a mystery since she was introduced and I really enjoyed getting to know her and her backstory. She doesn't have as much baggage as I thought she would, but there are things following her around keeping her from really getting settled in the life that she deserves. It always seems to amaze me how kick butt and capable the woman that are introduced are even though all the men are alpha, must protect the little woman, types. Riley definitely can protect herself and it was fun watching her navigate her new reality with Tao. Tao doesn't like outsiders and he immediately felt that Riley was a danger to his pack, but she quickly proved that the only danger she poses is to his heart. I always liked Tao so it was nice watching him find his mate.

Watching the new couple navigate their separate issues—emotional and physical—was interesting. They have a ton of chemistry and they are both equally protective of the other even though they both try to keep their distance at different points. Their mating bond was actually less difficult than past relationships in the series and it was nice to not have the connection blocked for an extended period of time.

One of my favorite things about this and the Mercury pack series is how involved the other pack members are in the stories. I never have a chance to miss past couples because they are present and involved at every turn. I love seeing them and love finding out the new things that have happened since their stories ended.

Do yourself a favor, read FIERCE OBSESSIONS and then pick up some of Suzanne's other books. I have enjoyed all the ones I have read so far.

I gave it 4/5 stars
