I received an ARC of this book quite a while back; apologies for life interruptions postponing this review! I enjoyed this book that has a balanced mixture of suspense, romance and a realistic storyline. A good story and good writing, recommended!

This is the second (and hopefully not the last) book in the Sweet Lake series. All of our favorite characters are back along with a few new ones; but not all of the visitors to Sweet Lake bring good things- some bring danger and Cat finds herself up to her chin in the thick of it. Two quotes from the story some up the richness of this book- "One of the most difficult lessons we learn is how to soar- above our doubts and perceived failings, beyond the abilities we believe limit us." and "Family is about the people we choose to hold close in our lives." Christine Nolfi blends both of these things well in this series.

This was an amazing book. So pleased I had the chance to read this. Not my usual genre at all but I really got sucked into the storyline with this one. Great book and I would definitely look out for other books by this author

Ryan's got a secret that Cat must learn into order to have a positive loving relationship with him. These two are fated for each other, as they, and everyone else in town know. It's a good read.

The Comfort of Secrets by Christine Nolfi is a powerful story of friends and families. In hopes of bringing prosperity back to the town, Cat and her friends are restoring Sweet Lake’s inn and Cat’s mother’s besties want to be involved. Despite the Swan Lake Sirens’ preposterous ideas on how to put Wayfair Inn back on the map, so to speak, they are an eclectic, sometimes humorous, band of women who come through in the difficult times. When the new ad campaign manager comes on board, things begin to liven up. Passionate romance is woven with secrets, suspense, and some super sleuthing to bring an engaging story with strong likable characters and a quick moving plot. Nolfi expertly writes about the gritty subject of broken families, abuse, and depression. I look forward to reading more from this author and am wondering if there are more stories to come from the town of Sweet Lake and its colorful characters.

Welcome back to Sweet Lake! The stories of Linnie, Cat and Tilda continue in The Comfort of Secrets. This book focuses primarily on Cat, the event planner for the Wayfair Inn. As she embarks on a relationship with the man she has been waiting for all her life....long-hidden secrets threaten to sink it before it even gets started. The Sweet Lake Sirens, ladies of Sweet Lake with unique personalities and loyalty, with an affinity towards quirkiness, are also affected by these same secrets...and these secrets can break your heart. But don't let the Sirens fool you...they have their own strengths which may surprise you!

I really appreciated and enjoyed the character growth through the sensitive and creative writing of author Christine Nolfi. the storyline begun in Sweet Lake carries on beautifully with romance, family drama, and mystery. A great sequel in a series destined to make the reader want to know more about the lives of the characters of Sweet Lake. I recommend this series for the reader who loves to follow characters through the ups and downs of their lives.

I received a copy of this book from the author; the opinions stated are my own.

This novel was delightful! I really enjoyed the way the friendships were portrayed both with the younger women and the older women. Christine’s characters are depicted in such a fun and honest way that you wish you were one of their friends! Christine combines humor, romance, and mystery in a way that makes this an enjoyable read. This is the second novel in Christine’s Sweet Lake series. Cat is the events director of the Wayfair Inn. She works there with her close friends, Linnie and Jada. Cat is soon engrossed in planning a huge event at the Wayfair Inn and determined to prove that she is capable of making it successful. Along the way, her mother and the other women who make up the Sweet Lake Sirens try to guide her into doing things the way they think she should do them. Cat is also exploring a blooming relationship that is complicated by a past of chilling events. This novel explores the strength of friendships. It also explores the intricacies of family relationships.

The Comfort Of Secrets by Christine Nolfi is part 2 of her Sweet Lake series. I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book much more than I did the first. It seemed like it had a more in depth storyline. While Sweet Lake laid the background for Linnie Wayfair and the Wayfair Inn, this story centered around Cat Mendoza, one of her best friends who also works at the inn. This story seemed much more complex. I actually think it could be considered a romantic suspense. There were twists and turns that kept me on edge just waiting to see what was going to happen and how it was all going to play out. I just loved the characters, especially the Sirens! They are an eccentric group of older ladies that are anything but dull. Now that I’m finished, I am anxiously waiting to see how Christine Nolfi plans to follow up in the next book. I think she’s going to have a hard time topping this one!

Welcome back to Sweet Lake! I still feel like it is a place I want to visit after reading this installment. The characters are quirky, fun, and just a joy to be around. At least in my head they are! And the Siren's meetings....the more I read about them, it's almost like a pull. I want to attend one of those meetings just to experience it on my own! I bet it would be a hoot to see.

As I mentioned in my review for the first book, I will also mention here that there is some language I did not care to see. It wasn't overbearing, and I simply skipped over those words. Other then that, I was excited to see Cat's story after meeting her in book one. In fact, I think I was looking forward to her story more then anyone, so I am glad it was now and I didn't have to wait too long.

If you are looking for a book to make new friends with, I think this might be the book for you! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A charming story full of entertaining characters, friendships and love.
Cat and Will start as friends and allow themselves to unhide secrets and grow together.
A totally enjoyable read--the author wrote and easy and most satisfying title.
Thank you for the opportunity to have read this title prior to publication--it was totally appreciated.

I really enjoyed this story. It had all the elements you want for a fun and interesting story. The characters were witty, sarcastic, infuriating, loving, devoting, hilariously funny, and so many other things that spelling family and friends. Yet, there was one element that none of them willingly wanted excitement at the expense of another but one. And for that everyone’s life forever changes.
This story revolves around Cat Mendoza who is from Sweet Lake, Ohio. She’s been living the last eight years at the Wayfair Inn in the south wing and helping to bring back the of life Wayfair Inn.
But now the push is on and the funding is in to make the changes her friend Linnie has always wanted to make to the place. So, the three friends Jada, Linnie, and Cat have big plans in the works.
Linnie the owner will oversee all construction, renovations, and the everyday running of the place as a whole.
Jada the chef will be handling the kitchen and the staff and all of the baking, cooking and the staff.
Cat is in charge of the marketing and budget. But she is smart enough after losing her own business eight years ago to turn to her friend Miri who owns a marketing firm "Adworks."
But when morning sickness strikes and the drive from Cincinnati is not in the cards she ends up sending her best guy for the job, Ryan D’Angelo. The only thing is she has no time that morning to call and tell her between briefing and barfing. So, Cat was not happy when caught off guard.
Especially, when tall, dark, green eyed, and sexy as hell starts off flirting out right and can’t seem to edit himself. He seems to be out right and openly staring too. Truthfully, either can she. It feels like they are two magnets. The thing is he can’t seem to stop getting texts. Someone keeps blowing up his phone. He answers a few and then he stops for a while.
Cat decides to take him for an outing of the grounds since he is going to have to sell the idea of the place to the outside world so he will need to get a feel of it. Going outdoors for him she notices alone causes him a reaction. When she says something he basically says he doesn’t “do” outdoors. The closer they got to the line of the wooded area he goes into a panic look on his face and started sweating. She put her arm around him and guides him away.
When he gathers himself, and his composer, is back in place, he says, the least amount he can. Somewhere in there his mother and he were involved. The next few days the text get even more out of control when he confides his mom has panic attacks thinking someone is coming after her.
This is a funny book but yet there are some heart-wrenching moments that just grip you too. There are some very intense ones that need to be paid attention to. For it could be anyone of us. If you are like me you might be even talking out loud to a few characters or yelling. :P
I give this book: 5++++ stars. Provided by netgalley.com.

I loved the first book in the series and this was equally wonderful. In this return to Sweet Lake our favorite funny characters, and the cozy setting of small-town Sweet Lake, Ohio are in full glory . I devoured this book as it had everything, suspense, romance and starting life over on ones's own two feet. its both heartwarming and captivating. The book drew me in and I was unable to put it down. This is a enjoyable fun series to read that truly sweeps you away with its charm and delightful story.
I love these stories and hope the author will consider continuing the series.

"The Comfort of Secrets" is the story of Cat, a young woman trying her best to show the small town that she grew up in that she can be an adult with true responsibilities that she can take seriously. After developing a reputation for being fun loving and fancy free with no regard for consequences, Cat has a long road ahead of her. Luckily she has some good friends in her corner who are pulling for her to figure out her career and her romantic life.

This is the second book in the Sweet Lake series by Christine Nolfi but you don't need to read the first book in order to enjoy this book. Many of the same characters from the first book appear but Cat is really at the center of this book.

The characters in the book were great. I loved Cat! She's the kind of scrappy character that you can't help but to root for her. The reader knows early on that Cat really has changed and she really is ready to take on being the event planner at the inn in town but almost everyone around her seems convinced that she is going into this endeavor with her eyes closed and want to make sure that she knows that they think about this.

You're also pulling for the love match in the book! Ryan comes to Sweet Lake as the ad-exec charged with getting the inn some business through some slick advertising. Love is the last thing on his mind. The love between Cat and Ryan feels a little insta-love but works relatively well. Ryan is more of a realist but Cat is a dreamer and this seems to fit in her character a little more. The love between them is very sweet, especially when we see the plans that Cat carries out to give Ryan back some of the childhood that we learn he missed out on.

This is a sweet romance with a quirky set of characters. This book was a lot of fun!

The story continues with Cat’s turn. With each book set in Sweet Lake it is like coming home again. I cannot wait to step foot into the wonderfully charming little town and reconnect with my friends again. It is wonderful that each book is its own story with a Happily Ever After yet the characters are familiar.

There is family drama, amazing friendships, romance, and so much love. I love the family secrets and how protective everyone is of each other. They keep secrets, tell secrets, and go to the ends of the world to protect each other. The Sirens are the queens of the town and seem to be able to keep everyone in line and pull the strings needed for everyone to find their happy endings.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This second novel in Christine Nolfi's Sweet Lake series at the Wayfair Inn, seems to be an easy, light beach read. It is light and funny, but so much more. The author deals with some real life issues while entertaining us. There are several storylines going on, which gives one a real sense of depth. There is friendship, family, romance, and a bit of mystery.
Though part of a series, The Comfort of Secrets could easily be read as a stand alone book....but then you will miss out on Sweet Lake, so I suggest you read both!
It is rare that I like a second book as much as the first. The author went so much deeper in this one,
that I think it was even better!

This is the 2nd book in the series, I think you need to read the first one to get reconnected with the characters! This is a heartful book about people and relationships, sometimes down right hilarious. Towards the end the suspense kicks in and you can not wait to see what happens! I loved feeling all the emotions I did as I read this book.
