Eve and Jack have both been hurt. Can they heal each other? This is a lovely story set in Cornwall (I'm a sucker for anything set in Cornwall). A good read.

Summer at Conwenna Cove offers the perfect escape from reality, instantly transporting you to the beautiful village of Conwenna. Life in this quaint Cornish hideaway sounds utterly idyllic, and by the end of the book, I was definitely wishing I could visit, too!

The two main characters in the book are Eve and Jack; both are troubled souls searching for calm and respite in the haven of Conwenna Cove. From their very first meeting, it's clear that the two are destined to end up together, yet the road to happiness is certainly not straightforward for this unlikely pair.

In addition to Eve and Jack, the book is filled with a whole host of lovely characters. Eve's aunt Mary (Jack's landlady) and Eileen, Mary's dotty friend, make a particularly nice accompaniment to Eve and Jack's budding romance - not to mention the plentiful supply of delicious, homemade cakes that come their way! However, though, it's not just the human cast who deserve a mention, as Gabe the rescue greyhound is sure to steal any reader's heart! With his soulful eyes, his gentle affection, and his sad past, Gabe certainly is a dog unlike any other.

From baking to greyhounds to gorgeous coastal scenery - and with a wonderful splash of true love thrown in for good measure - Summer at Conwenna Cove is a good read and a wonderful way to escape reality for a few hours.

Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.

This isn't your standard feel good women's fiction and I love that isn't. So much of this book resonated with me, especially the high pressure and stresses of being a teacher. It's proof that sometimes we need to listen to our bodies and switch off and this was just what I needed to read.

The book is a real page turner and tackles some challenging issues such as: stress, anxiety, divorce and PTSD. I found that the start of the book was enthralling and I could quickly get into but the ending became more predictable, which is why this not 5 stars for me.

A nice light-hearted read with some serious undertones makes this an enjoyable read.

This book won my twitter poll of my which to read next. It was one of the highest rated books on my netgalley TBR and won by a considerable amount so this was one i was very excited to read. Having visited Cornwall for the first time ever last year and dreaming of it since i do love a book based there even more than before now.

Eve is a workaholic, having thrown herself into her day job after her life started to crash around her eventually something was going to give. When in the middle of an important meeting with the board of governors Eve suffers a major anxiety/panic/migraine attack and decides enough is enough after she throws up then and there.

Realising she needs a break and not knowing where to turn - she turns to the only woman she calls family - her aunt Mary, who suggests she visits her in Cornwall, she believes that Conwenna Cove has healing properties.

Jack has suffered some of the worst experiences a person can, and has settled in Conwenna Cove, being in the open, near the sea and surrounded by rescue greyhounds he is happy. What he didn't expect when he meets Eve is to like her, and to actually want spend time with a woman.

The pair are both scared to trust, to acknowledge their feelings but are both working on healing themselves. Summer at Conwenna Cove is a wonderful read, its full of Cornish delights, wondrous amounts of cake (oh am i crazing Lemon Drizzle with a cup of tea!) and a real likeable set of characters. There was not one person i came across who i disliked. Eve was such a sweet character, she was strong and proud but wanted to do right by everyone.

If you are after a perfect summer read that can transport you to the coast, having you smile and warming your heart this is the one for that. I love Darcie Boleyn as an author having read a few previous reads and this just bumps her up my author to read list.

Eve, a headteacher, is forced to make drastic changes in her life. When a particularly bad anxiety attack has her reevaluating things, she packs her bags and heads off to her aunt Mary's house in the beautiful village of Conwenna Cove.

There, her plan is to enjoy the change of scene and rest and recuperate. Then, she meets Jack who also has a scarred past. He was in the army in Afghanistan for a time and now works at the local greyhound rescue centre. He's rebuilt his life once. Can he do it again?

Can Eve rebuild hers? Do they want each other as something more, or to just be friends? With Jack feeling more comfortable in a rural setting rather than bustling Bristol where Eve moved from, what does the present, and future hold for them?

Jack is very sweet and attentive, but his past makes him vulnerable. Eve is fragile in appearance and confidence. She seems to blossom in Jack's presence and they compliment each other well. The way their relationship plays out is rich in subtle details and there are some very tender moments. There's also a good mix of tension and action.

Eve fears at times that she will lose everything and everyone she has and her lack of confidence is crippling at times.

This is the second book I've read by Darcie Boleyn and her portrayal of Eve's Jack's and aunt Mary's emotions and internal conflicts is both written in a style that begs the book to be read or listened to and very relatable and humbling.

I don't read romances often, and I'm pretty sure I picked this one up because there was a dog rescue mentioned in the description! I also love beach settings. I don't regret it, as I needed a lighter story right now. One word of warning: if you're perhaps on a diet, you might get a lot of cravings reading this one. I'm not on a diet but I can't eat anything I want right now, and I certainly suffered from all of the lovely descriptions of delicious food. Cakes, scones, oh my! The setting is beautiful and easy to imagine, you can almost feel the light breeze coming from the water and delicious smells coming from Aunt Mary's kitchen. I still can't say that I'm the biggest fan of romance, and there were a lot of corny moments and some dialogue that induced some eye-rolling, but it's a cute story. This would be a perfect book to take with you on vacation or simply a nice day at a beach. It's a nice quick read with short chapters and it's easy to get through.

Eve has a fantastic career, but rattles around in an empty house meant for a family after separating from her husband. She's been through a lot of stress lately, which happens to manifest in an intense migraine and panic attack... in an important meeting in front of her co-workers. Embarrassed after getting sick in from of them, she finally decides she needs a break from her busy life... but a staycation isn't what she needs at all. She needs to get out of that house with all of the memories it holds, and ones that she hoped to make there. Luckily, she has an aunt in Conwenna Cove. Despite them not communicating often for the past several years, Aunt Mary welcomes her back with open arms. Fresh air and good cooking is just what she needs... but she didn't count on her aunt having a handsome tenant. Jack is initially wary of her, having gotten quite attached to Mary and worrying that Eve will simply end up leaving her behind again. It's not long before they're drawn to each other, just like Eve is drawn to the greyhound rescue (and one particular dog) where he works and helps to rehabilitate the creatures. She initially planned on a short vacation, but she's going have a hard time pulling herself away, and she has a lot of healing to do.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging, romantic, feel good book.
The story is set in Cornwall, the perfect location.
I couldn’t wait to turn the pages and find out what happens to Eve and Jack.
Looking forward very much to reading Christmas at Conwenna Cove.

I don't recall reading any books by Darcie Boleyn previously, but I'm pretty pleased I picked this one up. I do love a good chick lit, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. Although sometimes I get frustrated at the predictability of the storylines of such books, Boleyn's writing is so good that I was quickly able to look past that. When you can pick out the 'happy ending' within a couple of pages it's frustrating to say the least, but the way Boleyn writes I was able to grow to love the characters and feel really invested in their story. I enjoyed this book so much that I'm straight onto reading another of Boleyn's books, Christmas at Conwenna Cave. Highly recommended!

From the first pages of this book I was drawn in, and by the time the action moved to Conwenna Cove, I was hooked.

I loved the descriptions of Conwenna Cove, and more importantly of Mary and Jack. For Eve has retreated to her Aunt Mary's house, after things get on top of her at work. What she wasn't counting on was that Mary now has a tennant, Jack, and that he would be an ex-marine with a soft side to him

He is working in a greyhound rescue centre, and I fell in love with Gabe, and I wasn't the only one. Gabe is a greyhound who needs to learn to trust, a bit like the humans in this story.

This was a great story of learning to love and trust again, to follow your instincts, and of a summer in a Cornish seaside location.

This is easily Darcie Boleyn's best book so far, I can't put my finger on exactly why I loved it so much, but perhaps its because there were things in all the main characters that I could relate to easily. I loved Mary, and even she has a love interest on the horizon, while Jack had many hidden depths, while Eve was coming to terms with many things in her life, once she gets past denial.

I loved seeing how Jack and Eve's story would pan out, whether they would get together or whether Eve would go back to Bristol permanently. There are some funny scenes too including one involving mayonnaise and one where Jack doesn't realise his own strength wile knocking on a door.

I really enjoyed this book, and am already looking forward to reading the Christmas edition of Conwenna Cove!

Review: This was a first for me and Darcie Boleyn did not disappoint. I was totally lost in Conwenna Cove, so much so in fact I have read Christmas at Conwenna Cove too. I was also lucky to get a pre-publication copy from Canelo. I am part of the blog tour so will be posting me review for Christmas at Conwenna Cove on the 19th October.

This book has a feel of a Sarah Morgan book there are however a few differences that really add to the book.

Eve and Jack our main characters have emotional issues from their pasts. Darcie has written about them so well that you instantly feel connected with the characters and their stories. It has a real positive feel to the story and is very relatable. It made me stop and think about a few things in my life.

The characters are great but as for the setting there is one word to describe it and that is magical. From the place Cornwall with its beautiful beaches and cliffs, to the quant shops and friendly residents it is a place that feels so real in the pages of this book. Conwenna Cove is as much a part of the story as the characters are even more so.

I can't praise this book enough.

I will defiantly be returning to Conwenna Cove again and again.

When Eve falls ill during the meeting and ends up in the hospital for a check up, she doesn’t have a choice and has to slow down, she can’t continue overworking and burying all her problems inside without giving herself time to rest and heal. Eve’s parents live in Italy, so her only other choice is to go visit her aunt Mary at Cornwall. Eve has been so busy with work and life that she hasn’t seen her aunt in a while, but she welcomes her with open arms. She has only fond memories of the summers she spent in Cornwall. During her stay Eve meets Jack, who is Mary’s neighbor and helps her in the garden or where ever she needs help, he also helps out at a greyhound rescue center. Eve and Jack are both brokenhearted and in time they’ll help each other heal the wounds from the past.

I really enjoyed reading this well written story that has a great characters, stunning setting and delightful story. I loved how Eve and Jack found their way to each other as well as aunt Mary, who is the loveliest lady ever. All in all it was a brilliant book and I’d definitely recommend it.

An easy, feel good read. Just right for a lazy Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea and a lemon drizzle cake!

Good holiday read if you like modern day romance. The characters were well portrayed in line with the present day. However I found most of the irritating and did not care enough about anyone to really enjoy and connect with the story.

I've read Darcie's books before and enjoyed so was looking forward to this one. A typical chick lit book with predictable ending, I knew she'd stay in Conwenna cove! I enjoyed reading about the greyhounds and the sanctuary, we have a greyhound in our family 😃 And I live in Bristol so enjoyed that connection too. The only criticism I have on the book is Eve and Jack kept going on about 'what will happen when Eve returns to Bristol' it just got a bit repetitive as we knew she wouldn't stay in Bristol any longer. I enjoyed her and her aunts relationship and revealing their pasts. Overall I enjoyed this book, it was written well, look forward to her next one which I will look out for. Thank you for letting me read and review this book.

This book is all about Eve, a high flying head teacher in Bristol who suddenly suffers from a severe anxiety attack brought on by the stress of the job. In order to try and give herself some time away from work to recover, she heads down to Cornwall to visit her aunt. She used to visit her aunt a lot as a child, but, as life got in the way her visits became much less frequent.

Jack, a former marine, has become a tenant of Eve’s aunt and has been making his recovery from the after effects of his time in the marines. He is initially hesitant and wary of Eve when she first comes to visit, but, as time passes his opinion begins to change…

The premise of this book is beautiful, both of the main characters have been through a huge amount in their lives and are both struggling to cope. Anxiety attacks are portrayed in this book in a very sensitive way, there is no ‘pull yourself together’ in this one, but advice of taking time to recover. Both characters have been re – evaluating their lives and Eve’s struggles with a miscarriage prior to the book starting are incredibly hard to read, but this is an important subject to tackle in a contemporary book.

I must warn potential readers that this is not just a simple romantic comedy, there are some serious subjects tackled in here including anxiety, PTSD, animal abuse, miscarriage. However, this book is not sad, at the heart of it is a story about taking stock of what is important in your life and realising that after tremendous heart break, there can still be love out there for you. There is so much more depth to this book than just a simple romance, yet it is still an easy book to read. I highly recommend this to romance and contemporary fans who are looking for a book with a bit more depth and a bit more story to get your teeth into.

Sadly, a star has been lost for me as it did take a while for me to read this book and I did find myself skimming the book at points as my attention began to drift a little. However, I do think this might have been as I was reading this at quite a busy time, meaning I couldn’t dedicate proper chunks of time to the book. If you have a holiday booked, or a nice period of time where you can settle down and give this book the time it deserves then romance and contemporary fans, this is a book for you.

After Eve suffers a terribly and embarrassing anxiety attack at work, she takes herself away to her aunt’s for some well-deserved TLC. There, she is able to confront her demons and troubles, as well as get giddy for her aunt’s neighbour Jack.

There was a slow build up with the romance, which was sweet and appropriate, as both of them were dealing with past baggage, but not always believable. I really wanted to root for them and for the most part I did, but there were a few little niggling moments when they were characteristically mushy or harsh. Still a very good portrayal of forgiving and looking after yourself before taking on another relationship.

There was also a pretty good representation of anxiety and grief – maybe kind of brushed over when convenient but still treated as a long term problem, not something that could just be fixed by a holiday and falling in love.

This was not my usual book but quite liked it. There was a lot of telling rather than showing – even as Eve and Jack keep their secrets to themselves for a while, we get it narrated in their inner monologue anyway – which did quite annoy me but I got used to it. So, I had my issues but they were minor and weren’t enough to detract from a good love story about moving on and forgiveness.
