I absolutely loved this excerpt!! I cannot wait read the book when it is released!! It is definitely up my alley in regards to the subject matter!!

I cannot wait for this book to be released! This excerpt teaser was good and bad. Good because I loved it. The characters and story were so much fun! Bad because now I have to wait to read the entire book until April! I want it now!

It was just okay with me. But I'm looking forward to more books from this author.

Only an excerpt, it is interesting to read the start and the now of Cam's and Vee's relationship. you can feel the secrets and the need for distance and resolution from them both. the author is very good at building suspense and questions with the characters, the confusion that is Vee, the determination that is Cam and the bewilderment that is Logan. definitely builds up the story, would definitely want to read the rest of it and find out what did happen.
in that respect, the excerpt does exactly what it is designed to do, make the reader want to read the rest of the story.

I loved everything about this book, and it’s honestly no surprise to me. It has all kinds of elements that I love… second chances, best friends, something of a summer road trip… and a little bit of drama.

Vee’s best friends just landed a coveted spot on a battling bands reality show, and Logan, the lead singer, has talked her into joining them and getting some much needed experience in PR and marketing. How can she turn down spending the next three months with her friends and the rest of the bands on the tour?

Then she finds out that her first love… and first heartbreak, Cam, is on the bus… and sleeping across the aisle from her.

This is written in alternating timeframes… from the past when she first meets Cam and the story of them falling in love and in the present the story of them connecting again and learning to forgive.
I found myself immediately loving Vee so much. She’s always been in the background of the band… whether it was managing them or helping them write songs, she wasn’t one to want to be on stage, the center of attention. She’s super talented though and I loved that the band appreciated that and didn’t take advantage of her.

Cam, Cam, Cam… you know immediately that he has demons that he’s trying to out run. Even Vee knew he was hiding things, but she couldn’t stay away even if he wouldn’t share the things that were haunting him with her. Watching them fall in love, though, begs the question “can you really love someone you only know bits and pieces of?” Because that is all Cam was sharing with Vee, and it was hard knowing bits of his story and knowing she was so completely in the dark about it all.

I really loved how Pennington weaved in the battle of the bands / reality TV part of the story… the constant presence of the cameras and the added drama of her on the bus even though she wasn’t a band member … and the even bigger drama of the reality TV fans added an element of fun and stress on the characters that was definitely needed. Plus the music and the performances and songwriting were just so well done!

The end of this book had me swooning my face off…

I could honestly read another 30 chapters of these characters and their story… seriously. There is just so much depth to these characters and the story that as soon as I turned that last page, I was immediately missing them.

If you’re a fan of sweet, heartbreaking, second chance love stories… stories that are filled with emotion and bit of drama, then look no further. You’re definitely going to need to put this on your TBR list … I know it doesn’t come out for forever, but this one will absolutely be worth the wait!

This fantastic preview pulls you right in as you go back and forth from present day to the past and slowly learn about the beginning of our two main characters' relationship and start to piece together what tore them apart. I can't wait to read the whole thing!

The story idea for this book instantly attracted me, as a singer/songwriter. However, I just couldn't get into this book. I didn't feel connected to the characters, especially because it just jumped right in. I feel like the female narrator, Virginia, was flat, and while I liked Cameron okay I just didn't care about him all that much. I liked that it flipped between timelines but I felt like it was all telling and literally no showing which was frustrating. I only had a sample but I wasn't disappointed when it ended, which is a bad sign for me. I would have finished this book had I had the full arc but I would have only skimmed.

It was a bit slow at first but it gets better. Since I only read the preview, I guess the story belong to slow burn romance category and the plot made me curious about what happened next! :D

The preview chapters of Love Songs and Other Lies was great!

Vee is back on the road with a band made up of her high school friends. She used to manage them back in the day and had a relationship with Cam.

There was just enough information in the preview to present a number of questions. Why did Cam move to town? What happened to Vee and Cam? How far will the band make it in the competition?

I am looking forward to reading more!

I received an ARC sample of this book from NetGalley. I LOVED this sample and I can't wait to read the rest of the book (HINT HINT!!!). I don't know if I can hold out until next year! I love books written in first person alternating between the two main characters and this book was exactly that! Vee and Cam seem like really great characters and I can't wait to read their entire story.

Love Song and other Lies was great! I was immediately wrapped up in all of the characters lives. It was quirky, fun, and a really great read. It was well written and full of surprises.

I don't know how to rate this as my ARC was an excerpt.
But from what I got to read I give it 3.5 and here is why.
The author went from past to present which is not my favorite in book
I just don't feel it, I like it better when their past story (romance) is told in
Conversation. I understand is the way of an author to makes us feel their
Connection more but personally with a few words of an author that knows
How to really express how the leads feel can I feel the love or anger they feel.
Also the author gave away who the lead girl had a fling and who she loved in the first
Few pages and I love the element of surprise. When you have read so many
Books (over 1000) you are in the look out for unique books, books that surprise
You, that are unique and aren't predictable. Sadly people have the genre of YA
As predictable and copies of others, books that blend. Also with my experience
Of reading you know who she will end up when there's two POV that happens 99%
Of the time. And I like the element of surprise, give me unpredictable, A different
Unique ending, leave me guessing until the end who she will stay with.
On this read we read how our lead girl still have feeling for the lead, well from what
I could read.
I love reading YA, love reading about musicians also Love triangles are my life hahah.
And this book has those three elements. I just wish it wasn't predictable.

Take in count that this was my personal review and that is from a excerpt maybe
The author would give us a plot twist and the lead girl won't end up with the lead
But Logan or another guy. Maybe the author will surprise us.

looks like this will be a good read.

I received this E-ARC excerpt via Netgalley and Macmillan-Tor/Forge in exchange for an honest review. I had heard about this book through Netgalley. It sounded really cute and funny! I didn't hesitate to request it. I didn't realize until after I requested it that it was an excerpt and it isn't coming out until next year (January 30 2018)! I was expecting it to be about 60-70 page. But instead it was 216 pages.

I don't want to mention too much as it isn't coming out until next year. I will say that it's really cute and fluffy! I enjoyed it quite a bit. I can't wait for the book to come out next year! I will definitely be buying myself a finished copy.

Highly recommend for contemporary and music fans.
