I've read the first book in this series, and although this was book five, it was easy to follow the characters and revisit the regulars. The mystery was well-done, I thoroughly enjoy the way Verity interacts with the ghosts and her relationship with Frank, and it was sympathetic to the memory of the Widows and Orphans in the end. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I'll be going back to find and read the rest in the series, to fill in the details of Verity and Ellis's relationship.

Verity Long is a southern girl, so when she's very neatly roped into joining the Sugarland Heritage Society, she straightens her back, lifts her chin and goes full steam ahead investigating the ghostly happenings that she's been hired to fix.
Verity gets a mysterious call from a woman reporting a murder and suddenly the Heritage Society house where the call originates from has the alarm go off. When boyfriend and police officer, Ellis Wydell, arrives at the site, all the doors and windows are locked, and there's not a soul in the building...or is there?
Things really start going to hell in a handbasket after Verity finds the newly elected head of the heritage society, dead at the foot of the stairs in the foyer. With spirits whispering to her of murder, Frankie running an after-life horse race in her back yard, ghostly mobsters coming into town, things are getting a bit crazy. Oh, and the police are trying to shove her out of the investigation...again. Good thing Verity has Ellis on hand to look for and gather the evidence she finds along the way.
I have to say, Angie Fox did a wonderful job of pulling me into this story from the start, and the stuff I had to do today? ...well, that didn't get done. I totally loved, and for some, loved to hate the characters in Sweet Tea and Spirits. This story kept me riveted from beginning to end, and since I missed a few books in this series, I'll be getting them now. All of the characters that appear in Sweet Tea and Spirits are well fleshed out and really seem to come to life. The mystery was excellently crafted, and though I thought I knew whodunit, there were some wonderful twists I didn't foresee.
I highly recommend Angie Fox's Sweet Tea and Spirits, and I'm really looking forward to more in this series, as well as heading to grab the two books I missed.

I love strong willed , speak her mind yet remember her manners protagonist. I love Angie's work she gimmes mystery mixed with humor and can tell a story like a bunch of old ladies on a Sunday morning. I appreciate that the fact she's doesn't give me love triangles.

I absolutely love Angie Fox. Her books are always a fun read and this one was no exception. I enjoy reading in the evening to wind down for bedtime and there is something about Angie's books, they keep me smiling and turning pages. I would definitely recommend this book and this author!

This time Verity was "invited" to investigate a murder by a phone call from a ghost.
Go figure!
If it wasn't weird enough being able to see + talk to ghost, now ghost are calling her on the phone.
Meanwhile, Verity has a new mystery to solve.
The murder happened on the local historical society house.
Will the ghost "residing" there help Verity?
Who killed Julia the new president?
Who is putting the mannequins on those compromising positions?
Will Verity be able to solve this mystery without getting herself killed?
Once I started reading this book, I did not want to put it down.
I really wanted to know what happened next.
I also want to read more on the romance between Verity & Ellis.
I can't wait to read the next book.

I am very glad to see that Verity is finally getting paid for her work and that her relationship with Ellis is going strong. What I had hoped to see in terms of Ellis' relationship with his mother didn't happen. For a smart man, he has these blinders on where his mother is concerned. He has seen first hand how his mother tried to destroy Verity. It didn't strike him as odd that when his mother, a manipulative woman, was over that he didn't receive calls from his girlfriend? Even if his mother deleted the messages and call log on his phone, he could have gone online and viewed the information, so why didn't he?
I have always been surprised that with as many people as Virginia has has hurt in the town that Verity, hasn't and isn't, receiving more support in her town. I understand the Ghost business would make some wary of her but those who have received help with their ghostly problems could have smoothed the way for her. I am really upset by the lack of respect that she receives from the Police Officers in town, other than Ellis, who have witnessed first hand, her and Ellis solving cases. I really hope that changes in future books because it is getting old.
I am also hoping that in the next book, that Virginia and her precious Beau, finally pay for their crimes. They have gotten away with their bad behavior for far too long.
As always, I loved all the scenes with Lucy. I just cannot get enough of her. Hopefully now that Frankie has found a softer side, thanks to Molly, Lucy will finally be more comfortable around him.
The planting of trees was a beautiful touch. In upcoming books, it would be nice to see Verity's ancestors show up, long enough to help her reclaim the land that they worked so hard for, and help her deal with Virginia.
I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

Sweet Tea & Spirts by Angie Fox is the next book in the southern ghost series. Verity can talk and see ghost thanks to ghost Frankie who is bined to her property. But if Verity takes his urn he can go with her. When theres a murder at historic society and Verity is determined to find the killer. With help from her hunky police boyfriend. This book has it all action,, adventure, romance! Once you start the book you can't finish it till your done. Highly recommend and can't wait for more by this author!

One of my favorite authors I can always count on along with her characters for a great story and a good laugh. As always looking forward to more.

I love this cozy series with Verity, her boyfriend Ellis and her ghost Franklin. With her new business of ghost hunting gaining traction she is surprised when the historical society calls needing help with ghost moving the exhibits and a murder. Verity surprises everyone by agreeing to join the Sugarland Historical Society now that Virginia, her arch nemesis is no longer president. This is book 5 in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries and while it could be a stand alone, you need back info on how Franklin got to be her sidekick and why Virginia is so nasty.

Rating: 4.5 She Got Paid Stars!
The cover, I really like it.
The story, Finally!!! She got paid! Although it was an only payment it helped her. We are once again involved in a mystery with ghosts. Verity is trying her best. Ellis is still hot. Though I had a problem with Ellis’ mom interfering, she really is mean. Frankie is still driving crazy Verity and apparently has found a new meaning of being dead.
The romance, i think their relationship is evolving but other things are trying to get in between, is up to them to let them. I really hope we can see in future books more passion between them and their relationship more permanent, it does seem to be in the air right now.
Verity, I like reading her and all her antics.
Ellis, I really hope he doesn’t allow his mom to manipulate him. He is exactly the kind of man every woman wants and needs in her life.
Overall, did I like the book? Yes, I did. Would I recommend the book? Yes, it has its flaws but is enjoyable.

Princess Fuzzypants here:
When I started reading Verity's first book, I was not sure if I was going to like her. It didn't take too long for me to decide I love her. How could anyone not like a character whose pet is a skunk and who talks to ghosts.
She is her usual spirited (pun intended), feisty and caring human. When she first realized she had a ghost for a guest in her home, she seemed pretty shaken by her new talent of talking to ghosts by borrowing his power. She's comfortable enough to have a career in ghost communication but not everyone in her small community accepts her skills or believes in ghosts, although the numbers are climbing exponentially. She is hired by the newly elected President of the local HIstorical Society whom she soon discovers dead in the house where the ghosts "live". She had been called by one of the ghosts the night she was hired but once she starts to investigate, she is undecided whether the ghosts mean well or evil.
As it turns out, it is the human element that is evil and while she solves the murder, she also solves a mystery about the house and its inhabitants. It is all done in a lively, humourous and exciting way. It is not easy to balance humour and suspense but this series does it well. The characters are quirky and personable.
I can recommend this as an entertaining summer read. I give it five purrs and two paws up.

I finished Sweet Tea and Spirits by Angie Fox last night and it was a great ghost mystery with a fun and exciting twist I did not see coming when I sat down to read it. Now I am almost convinced I read an earlier book in this series as I felt so at home in this paranormal cozy.
What makes this a fun read is the hierarchy of the community and social status not just among the living but also with the very active community of the undead as well. I would absolutely read another book in this series happily!

What can I say I love this series! If you haven't read it do yourself a favor and pick it up. It just gets better with each book! This is book 5 and Verity Long final got a paying job to bad the person who paid her turned up dead. Now Verity feels it is her job to find out who did it! She will talk to the spirits to see what they know with the help of Frankie. Frankie might also have found love!
That is all I am will give you because you need to read it!

I love this series! I found Frankie's storyline to be very entertaining this time. Seriously, I think Angie Fox managed to fit a bit of everything in there - including a ghost being afraid for his (after)life. Verity's storyline was also really good, with some very interesting revelations.

In this book, ghost hunter Verity becomes involved in the murder death of a newly elected president of the town’s historical society. The society works out of an abandoned Confederate orphans’ and widows’ location—which really was not what everyone thought it was. However, the town does not seem to accept the reality of what this location was in its heyday, preferring to continue the myth of its real purpose. The ghosts who reside there would like the truth to come out, but can it? Can anyone change the minds of Sugarland citizens? Verity becomes intertwined in this, as she investigates the murder, working her way into the town’s detective’s investigation, while using her ghost friend Frankie’s assistance as well as her blossoming close relationship with a town cop to get in the middle of things. This newest addition to the series goes a bit farther into the paranormal world than the others. Still, it manages to maintain enough of reality to make it believable, interesting and, above all else, somewhat humorous. Verity is her old self, constantly stepping into situations that can only cause the reader to wonder about/be amazed at, while building her business as a ghost hunter in Sugarland. She once again remains a strong, resourceful woman, showing her strength time and again as she maneuvers way through countless twists and turns in her search for answers. Still, she is as feminine as ever and continues building her relationship with her beau, deputy sheriff Ellis Wydell, who again works closely with her to reach the truth. Then, there is her ghost mobster friend Frankie, who gets himself into many more different and interesting situations, as he helps Verity search for the truth about the murder. Finally, Verity’s pet skunk, Lucy, is another part of Verity’s never-ending stream of odd but lovable ghosts/people/animals she lives with in Sugarland.
This is a great installment in the Verity story. The characters are well done and realistic. Sugarland is Sugarland, a small town with all the trappings of a small town. Frankie is the ever interesting, ever faithful resident ghost (at Verity’s house), who aids Verity in her search for truth. Finally, I enjoyed the way the author had Verity’s and Ellis Wydell’s relationship grow and become a big part of the story, since this relationship aided Verity in her quests for answers. This book will delight any readers who have enjoyed the other books in the series and will pique the interest of any newcomers to the series. The story is also a bit refreshing with many good touches of humor, as these novels usually are. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

A crime, some ghosts, a new partner, a bit of love , a bit of destructin, this book has everything and is fun to read

Another awesome book in the series! So happy to have more of Verity, Frankie, Ellis & Lucy.
Some awesome stuff happening with Frankie (ghost). And Verity gets herself in lots of trouble this time.
Can't wait for more.

Another thoroughly enjoyable romp around Sugarland and its resident ghostly population. Frankie was developed a little more in this book too, which was nice and Verity even managed to play nicely with her near-MIL for a bit! The mystery to solve was a good one and I liked how we learnt a bit more about the history of the town too. I shall keep my eye out for Verity's next outing!

The Southern Ghost Hunter stories are cute and refreshing as a glass of ice cold lemonade on a summer’s day. They are light and fun with a touch romance (and more than a little ghostly mayhem). The newest installment, Sweet Tea and Spirits lives up to reader expectations, providing a relaxing escapist adventure.
Verity Long and her ghostly pal Frankie are hired to investigate strange goings on at the headquarters of the Sugarland Historical Society (formerly a home for widows and orphans). The new president needs Verity to stop a ghost’s salacious antics (posing the museum mannequins in risque positions). Before Verity has the chance to begin, Julia is murdered, leaving her with a mystery to solve. Frankie has his own problems, between having run afoul of a fellow mobster’s ghost and having fallen in love with one of the historical society’s ghosts. For once, Verity has the support of Ellis’s mother, Virginia, as she goes undercover with the society set in order to find a murderer and put the scandal to rest.
If you are looking for a fun, paranormal mystery that is a quick and relaxing read, Sweet Tea and Spirits is a great choice. It is also nice to see Verity and Virginia on the same side (if only temporarily). In this installment, Virginia is a much more human, albeit still controlling, character. The books do not have to be read in order.
4 / 5
I received a copy of Sweet Tea and Spirits from the publisher and Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Another ghostly case with my favorite Southern gal and her gangster ghost associate snooping around at the old historical museum trying to solve a murder, a ghost problem, and their separate relationship issues. Let me just get my hot cuppa and cozy into my favorite comfy spot.
Review
Sweet Tea and Spirits is the fifth installment of the Southern Ghost Hunter series. They can be read standalone, but work best in order to follow the relationships and situations that are ongoing with the series.
The first scene had my right back in the world of this series. The humor displayed through Frankie’s antics, as even in the afterlife, he’s just doing what a gangster will do, and Verity’s sweet southern gal persona appalled at her resident ghost and more appalled that her boyfriend Ellis wants her to do a meet the family because they are getting serious.
But then things are off to the races when Verity gets another case from the president of the historical society shortly before the lady is murdered and only Verity knows its murder because she gets a ghostly prompt that tells her.
I enjoy this blend of light-hearted and mystery with some moderate chills and humorous moments. By now, Verity is hitting her stride accepting her role as ghost hunter in the community even though some folks think she’s nuts, but also moving on from the fiasco of leaving her cheating ex at the altar and dealing with the aftermath since he’s from one of the most influential and prestigious family’s in town- and hsst, Verity is not in a deepening relationship with his older brother.
Now, the tone of the book may be light, but the mysteries are actually rather clever. Some elements are easy to figure out, but then there’s the twist and the surprise is fun. In this case, I had the murder figured out, but it was the ghostly situation that had the impressive twist. Very clever…
And I did enjoy that ghostly Frankie got a bit of romancing in with a pretty ghost.
All in all, these are fun, light distractions and I look forward to each new installment. Cozy Mystery fans who don’t mind some paranormal and romance are probably the best match for this series.
