I really enjoyed reading this - gripping from beginning to end!

I dnf this one real quick. I can't stand major rich playboys who thinks their stuff don't stink and all he thought about was sex. Meeting Red the female character the way he did had no lead up and it was just dropped in my lap. I wanted build up. Red was also immature for me. Not a lot was happening in the beginning or even grabbing my attention. I couldn't stand Caleb or Red. This one just wasn't for me.

Apparently I'm one of the last few people to catch on to Chasing Red, a Wattpad sensation with a very tantalizing title. But late is better than never and I have such a crush on this book it's ridiculous.
Our two main characters meet under unusual circumstances. They're at a club when Caleb, who's known around campus for having his fair share of dalliances notices Veronica dancing on the floor. There's something about her movements, her face, that red dress that captures his attention. Next thing you know she sidles up to him but when she perceives that he's just throwing out his typical lines, she walks away. He's baffled by what just happened and leaves only to find her outside drunk and being propositioned by a very sketchy guy. Hesitant to leave her a dangerous situation, Caleb takes her home with him where she can sleep it off and be on her merry way the next day. Only he finds out that she has nowhere to go and so offers to let her move in with him rent-free. The rest of the story is them dancing around each other as Caleb is obvious in his attraction towards her and Veronica is always skirts around it.
So yes, it's all unusual and requires some suspension of disbelief but Caleb is a genuine-hearted person who finds himself in front of a person who has faced more disappointment than she can bear. The easiest solution is simply to cut herself off from people and not get attached. But he makes that difficult because he's so incredibly kind and funny.
Honestly, I enjoyed this story more than I expected I would. I was hooked on it right away and thank goodness, too because I was in danger of falling into another reading slump. While I don't relate directly to either of these characters there were some basic emotions that spoke to me such as Veronica's sense of self-preservation and the immense leap of faith that's required in order to trust anyone, or Caleb's innate need to take care of people and have love reciprocated. I did like the inclusion of POVs from two of Caleb's friends, both of which are surprising and their presence adds drama to an already unorthodox and vulnerable relationship.

I so wish I had the second book handy as soon as Chasing Red was over. It's been a while since I've been left longing for the next installment as I have been with this one. I hope you feel Chasing Red is as captivating a read as I did so that we can all look forward to Always Red together!

First off, I want to say what drew me to this book, is that gorgeous cover. Its simple, yet complex and the colors are what take it to the next level. So kudos to the person(s) behind the cover art.

Now moving on to the story, I wanted more. Let me explain, what I meant by that. I feel like, I've read stories similar to this book, so when I say I wanted more, I meant, something different then what is out there now to read. It could have been the smallest thing that could have changed this book for me, but it lacked the "wow" factor for me. I enjoyed reading (most) of the time. I did have sections, that I would loose interested in and put the book down for like a day or two. But with all that being said, it was still fun to read.

This is your typical sexy rich college boy falling for the beautiful poor college girl. Caleb meets "Red" (Veronica) one night while she is wearing a red dress, hence the nickname of "Red". Veronica doesn't want anything to do with him and this of course, puts a bullseye on her for Caleb. Which things lead to her needing a place to live and Caleb takes her in. She pushes away over and over all his advances but he doesn't quit. The attraction is definitely there for both of them. Walls finally start to come down and this opens up for other problems when others want to tear them apart.

Main thing, I want to say is don't give up on this story, the ending will make up for everything else. And get ready for a tremendous cliffhanger.

A romance that will grab your heart and not let go. Will Veronica get hurt, or will she find true love? Will Caleb send her the right messages, or will he be too controlling and cause her to drop him and walk away?
The suspense will keep you wondering! Amazing read!

This book was on the Goodreads' must read list and I jumped at the chance to read it, but was the story worth the hype though.? This story about a girl named Veronica or Red, which is what Caleb calls her. Red is a girl with a troubled past and down on her luck when she runs into Caleb at a club. Caleb is a basketball superstar who notices Veronica in a smoking, hot dress, which is where her nickname comes from. The two meet up and go their separate ways, but fate has its way and they end up at Caleb's apartment. It's not what you are thinking because Caleb is a renowned Superman who just can't turn his back on a damsel in distress. This story is pretty much about their relationship blooming and Caleb trying to show Red that she can trust him.

There was so much hype around this story that I had high expectations. Sadly my expectations were not met because this story dragged along and it took me entirely too long to finish this story. Just to give you guys a heads up, this is a clean romance and there is absolutely no sex in this story. I mean, it's not a big deal to me because sex does not necessarily equals a good story. The chemistry between the characters took a good while to develop and Veronica was not charming in the least. She was my least favorite thing about this book and she was not a likable character. Veronica had the hard upbringing with the drunk father to match, but for some reason, I was not fond of her. I absolutely loved Caleb and he had great character development. He was charming and sweet, but Red was a little too stubborn to carry this story. I was more interested in Kar and Cameron story because their relationship was more interesting than the main characters' relationship.

Eventhough I had a few negative things to say about this story, the last 20% saved this book because the story really picked up and the intensity of the conversation between Red and Caleb grabbed me. It was the first time that I actually felt their chemistry and their relationship. This story's ending is what made me want more. This story ends in a cliffhanger, which I normally hate, but the ending was too good to be left alone. I look forward to reading the next book and hopefully the author starts the next installment with the same intensity as the ending of this book.

Chasing Red reminded me of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie MacGuire. I enjoyed Ronin's style and her male lead, Caleb, is swoon-worthy. Red, though, was harder to like. All in all I enjoyed this book but the drama made me roll my eyes more than once.

When I found out that this wattpad story was being published I screamed of happiness. I love Chasing Red, i have re-read it on wattpad so many times. I really like the book, the only thing that bothered me, and I think is because I have mature , was the I found the relationship & actions of the mc a little childish. I feel not many college people dont act like that, maybe that is me, but its something that made me umcomfortable when I read it. Other than that, I did kept reading it and enjoy it a lot. I am excited to support this book in the future

I've just finished Chasing Red by Isabelle Ronin and it was great!

NetGalley granted me Chasing Red, so thanks to them for allowing me to read it!

Chasing Red is a New Adult novel. Although, no sex takes place, it's mentioned a lot and the main characters come close to being in that situation once, or twice. I'd therefore put an age rating of 17+ on Chasing Red.

I read Chasing Red for the black/orange cover of the Boo!kish Bingo, Life And Lit event on Facebook. It's not Halloweeny at all though. Just a contemporary with a black and orange cover, along with other colours too!

3.5 Stars!

What I really enjoyed about Chasing Red was the relationship between the two main characters didn't feel forced or instalovey at all. Both Veronica and Caleb had their issues but they stayed strong together, until the very end, where some bitter rivalries came into the story...

The story is told from both Veronica's and Caleb's perspectives, throughout. We get two chapters from two other characters as well. These help us understand those characters motives as well as the motives of our lead characters.

Spoilers below...

Veronica and Caleb meet at a club. Veronica is wearing a skintight red dress.

"Her short, tight dress covered her hourglass figure like a second skin, seducing the dozens of eyes turned in her.
And it was in make-me-sin red. Damn"

Caleb calls Veronica, Red from their first meeting. He only refers to her as "Veronica" to her face once in the novel, when they're having issues. She likes the nickname for the most part.

Veronica is destitute. She's been kicked out of her apartment because she can't afford the rent.

"I hoped he didn't think I was trying to find out how much money he had. That I was a gold digger. But why wouldn't he think that? He didn't know me from Eve"

This shows that although Veronica is attracted to Caleb, she doesn't think she's good enough for him. She's worried he'll think that she's just after his money. Caleb is a good guy though. He invites Veronica to stay in his apartment when he realises she doesn't have anywhere else to go.

"Girls were my weakness.
I knew this, but I had never broken my rules for any girl.
Until last night"

This is the first line in Caleb's perspective. We can clearly see he used to be a bit of a player and that he's used to getting what he wants when it comes to women. Although, this is true, I found Caleb to be a very caring character throughout the story. He was always more concerned with how Veronica was feeling than himself.

"I yearned to be a part of her world. I wanted to be hers"

shows just how much Caleb wants to be around Veronica. He's craving her.

There are side characters in Chasing Red, but our main characters are still Veronica and Caleb. The side characters are just there for the two protagonists to have different sorts of scenes with.

There are minimal characters in Chasing Red. This works well, I think because the author was able to concentrate on writing about a select few characters, rather than a bunch of them. We only get a villainous character forwards the end of the story and I don't want to spoil who it is, but this character is the only one that Veronica is uneasy with. It's not that realistic to only have one person you dislike, I don't think, but we all experience different things.

What did I like about Chasing Red?

I liked the small cast of characters

I liked how the main focus of the story was on the main couple.

I liked how Veronica's past was drawn upon a lot throughout the story.

I liked how our main couple had their issues in being together. This isn't just an instant love book.

I liked how we got the story from both the male perspective and the female perspective. Although the author is female, it felt as if she's drawn upon male influences to write Caleb's part.

What didn't I like about Chasing Red?

I didn't like how the villain seemed to be the only character that Veronica didn't like. I didn't think this was very true to life.

I felt Chasing Red kind of felt incomplete. Maybe it would have worked better as just one novel with book 2 included as well? I won't know that though, until I've read book 2...

All in all then I really liked Chasing Red. I can't wait to read book 2, the last in the supposed duology when it releases...Will you read Chasing Red?

Stand by for my next review, coming soon...

A good read following in the steps of other current NA bordering on Adult genre.

Having red the book on wattpad first I have to say this edited version is a lot better. Thumbs up

I received a copy of this through NetGalley for my honest review. And it's another case of I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. At least the heroine of this NA romance was not TSTL. She was immature and made assumptions based on very little evidence, but that's to be expected of someone with little experience at that age in their life I suppose. It ends on one heck of a cliffhanger, so there is no resolution/happy ever after...yet. Our hero is kinda dreamy, swoony, and perfect...and he does a lot of chasing after Red, who is a bit standoffish and hard to get close to, based on some of her history. The writing was pretty well done, consistent with characters of that age group, but it could stand a bit of an edit.

Wow, this story was really a mess. The two main characters were highly unlikable. I didn't see their "relationship" developing ever. I couldn't take the back and forth drama between them. I could only survive about 25% of the book before giving up.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I can certainly say it won't be the last. This book kept me on my toes the entire read. It was a book you couldn't put down so you can expect book insomnia when you read it.

I must say that I had high hopes with this one... But while reading and after, I didn't feel as much as connected to the story and to the characters as I hoped I would. The author knows how to write but I think I was intimidated and got bored with all the dramas in the entire book. I don't read Wattpad so I read this one without knowing anything about it, and if it's a series, I hope the next one is less dramatic.

I read this one on Wattpad and I was curious to see what the difference was going to be between the two.

There were some things I liked and didn't. Let's just say what I didn't involved his friend. And I really like the heroine. The Hero needed a little work, but for the most part I liked him.

And the plot was good, but now I'm seeing there's going to be another book. I don't know how I feel about that.

I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of this book and the set-up between a rich college guy and a homeless and insecure young woman. But the developing relationship between Caleb and Veronica seemed way too wordy and repetitive, and I found myself getting bogged down with the story. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which is something that will not appeal to all readers. However, the author has created characters that appealed to me enough that I will be looking for the concluding entry to see how their story ends.

This is one of those novels that the cover is what caught me right off the bat. Now that I have finished the book, it fits even more. This was my first tie reading anything from Isabelle Ronin and I am definitely going to have to read more in the future.

A novel crafted chapter by chapter to leave you on your toes. I felt like I was reading mini episodes of Red and Caleb’s dance around each other. It wasn’t writing any different than any other book per say, but each chapter felt like it had its own start and end. It made it each to pick up and put the book down as I needed too.

Falling in love in college is always an adventure. Falling for the last guy in the world you thought you would is a hurdle all its own. Throw in a heck of a lot of doubt and fear, along with a guy who knows exactly what he wants and this book as a rollercoaster.

I loved reading about Caleb chasing red and I loved their mini dates. It was a fun book to get lost in. Once things started to get tricky at the end I found that I had gotten really invested in it even if Red sometimes drove me crazy with her indecisiveness. I can’t wait to read the next novel in this series. I have a feeling some of the secondary characters are really going to come to the front.

Well I did finish it but boy was that a chore.

Hero and Heroines were immature.

The dialogue was silly at times.

And I liked the hero more then the heroine, she was irritating.

Writing was okay, pacing dragged at times.

Rich, party, bad boy rescues girl in trouble.

Girl is fearful, can she trust the guy??

Hero constantly trying to win her trust.

They dialogue and inter monologue was high school, too immature for this girl.

I received this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Chasing Red, follows the relationship between the wealthy hot man on campus and star basketball player Caleb Lockhart and the siren in the red dress he meets while out clubbing with his freinds ; Veronica Stafford and these two could not be any more different. Caleb, is smooth and charasmatic and even though he may be a player, thoughtful , kind and giving . Veronica has had a hard life and is virtually alone in the world to fend for herself. She finds herself kicked out of her apartment and homeless until Caleb offers, no insist she take his spare room and though Caleb is chasing her hard she keeps pushing him off with the classic Na/ ya story angst. Veronica constantly tries to deny her mutual attraction to this thoroughly iriisistble man who along the line falls totally head over heels for her . Caleb though is left trying to continually prove his devotion . A thoroughly engrossing story line all leading up to a small cliffy.
