I Am Bat is a picture book about a bat who likes cherries. He doesn't want to share, but they mysteriously disappear anyway. Then, he gets a surprise. This book is wonderfully cute in concept, pictures, and wording. Touches on fruit, colors, feelings, and hints at friends. Color combinations and illustrations are great. I hope the author writes more adventures for Bat. Looking forward to recommending this book at the library!

I really enjoyed this cute book. Readers of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus will like I Am Bat. The character is really comical and fun. The book invites plenty of reader interaction. The illustrations are funny too and I especially like the bat’s cute round tummy.

This is a simple picture book but there are so many things children will enjoy about it. Bat is grumpy and selfish with his food, but he is endearing. The illustrations go a long way in making the reader like this grumpy little bat. They are simple drawings, but are well done. The book lends itself to some interactive aspects as well. Children can count the cherries; guess which animal took the cherries, and it could even open discussion about emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think small children will have a lot of fun with it too.

This fun story of Bat who extols the virtues of his beloved cherries is a great option for read-aloud programs as well as one on one sharing. Any young child will easily associate Bat's attachment to its cherries with their own attachment to the things they love with a possessive passion. While other characters in the story are only seen and not heard, they play an important part in the lesson Bat learns at the end about putting too much importance on one thing.

Delightful book! I guarantee this book will appeal to my younger readers.
The message of coveting a possession so dearly and having it taken from you will definitely resonate with my students. The bat is a distinct personality with apparent likes for cherries. When the cherries disappear, he is so forlorn. However, when his "never can let go" cherries are replaced with pears, he is able to move on and enjoy the next food type in its stead.
The reader will be able to identify that even if you imagine you can never let go of something, it is possible.
The illustrations are simple but grab you from the start.

I received this arc from Netgalley for an honest review.
The Little bat does not like to get up early, but he loves cherries. His cherries keep disappearing. Where are they going, it must be the reader.

I wanted to like this book, but the story wasn't very strong for me and I wasn't a huge fan of the images - the story is easy enough to follow for young children who are just learning a few words, but don't see it being a book that is read over and over again. Two stars from me sadly.

Simple, adorable, fun. A bat is defending his cherries, until they start to go missing. A who done it, with a happy ending.

This is a pretty short picture book for kids but it is super cute. I love how the bats are presented as cute fruit eaters as opposed to scary. Bats are great for the planet and it's great to demystify them and show kids a better side.

This was pretty funny! I think really young children should enjoy it. The story is really simple- a little bat love cherries ad they disappear. He thinks the reader took them, but is soon distracted by another fruit he loves- pears! Illustrations were fun; simple and bold.
