There is a lot going on in this book unfortunately not a lot of it makes any sense. Jane is a lawyer in NY settling her mother's law practice when she becomes involved in a serial rapist case. There are rapes, murders, stalkings, politics, psychics, and more and they are not all necessary to the story. There were way too many characters. The police are rather ineffective letting Jane direct the investigation. There were no explanations for many of the dangling threads. I was very frustrated by the ending, it was not a surprise at all.

Jane Larson is a lawyer closing up her mother Martha's law office to fulfill her dying wish. Her mother knew some very colorful people and had interesting clients. Jane also inherited the attention of the Gentleman rapist from her mother. The rapist has now began raping and killing women Jane knows. Closing up the law office is taking more time than originally planned.

Everyone in this book had a link to everyone else. Six degrees barely seperated most of the characters. Having a serial rapist tell you you're on his list should scare Jane but she doesn't show it. She was so busy taking care of clients she didn't always think about her own well being. I liked Jane a lot though. She didn't back down. Her friendship with the detective investigating the rapes Sofia was hilarious most of the time. I would like to have both of these women as close friends. Their the through thick and thin kind of friends.

Thanks to the author, Melange books and NetGalley for a copy to review for an honest opinion.
