What do you get when you cross a rogue who is fed up with being a rogue and always in the gossip columns and a daughter who never goes against her parents, that is until her betrothal to a man old enough to be her father is announced. She decides to have one fling before being tied down and goes to a masquerade where she meets the rogue and an instant attraction on both parts. Meanwhile the rogue meets a nice girl though dull and her sisters at a museum, as he gets to know her he realises she's not dull at all and realising who she is, does he tell her who he is?

This is Michael Rutland, Earl of Wainwright, and
Camillia Grenville's story and the second book in the Rogues to Riches Series.

I love Erica's stories and couldn't put down

I voluntarily received an advanced copy and chose to leave my opinion

Erica had written another enjoyable and relaxing read. The characters are well developed. The story flows smoothly without any unnecessary fluff and concludes in a short span of time. Erica has cleverly included characters of the prior book and the next book in the series; even though this book can be read without having read Lord of Chance. This series is proving to be fun, light reads.

What an amazing storyline! It was based on a Cinderella story, but was so different, so more. The allure of the masquerade and anonymity of the balls made me want to be a part of it and made it so I couldn't put down the book. I felt a part of the story and the people. A fantastic addition to the series! Book provided by NetGalley.

Charming and sweet. A classic romance novel from start to finish.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Lord X and Lady X, two people unaware of each other's identities but aware that the attraction could not be mistaken for anything else but love.. Gorgeous read.

Publisher's Description:

Nondescript “good girl” Miss Camellia Grenville only ever opens her mouth when forced to sing at her family’s musicales. That is, until the night she infiltrates the ton’s most scandalous masquerade ball on behalf of her sister, and finds herself in the arms—and the bed—of the one man she’d sworn to hate.

Irresistibly arrogant and unapologetically sensuous, infamous rake Lord Wainwright always gets his way. When he accepts a wager to turn his rakish image respectable in just forty days, he never anticipates falling for an anonymous masked lover...or that discovering her identity would destroy them both.

My Thoughts:

I loved this second book of the Rogues to Riches series. I read and reviewed Book #1 but was not as impressed with it as this second one of this new series.
I have read several Erica Ridley books in the past and will most likely continue to read others. She has the ability to make her readers laugh and to draw them in.
Although this book is part of a series each book can be read as a standalone title but from the description of the next book in this series it may be best if you have read this one beforehand.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5 flames.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley to read. This in no way affects my opinion of this title which I have voluntarily reviewed.

I adored this story! It was sweet, riddled with a delightful sense of anticipation, and with it just the right amount of tension. Erica Ridley's double-identity plot was an absolute stroke of genius, elevating this book above its counterparts.

I didn't think the final scene was written in the same vein as the rest of the story, but the book as a whole was good enough to overlook, and the ending was still satisfying.

I highly recommend this book!

Michael Rutland, Earl of Wainwright, a rogue of the first order resents being the butt of many a gossip column and bawdy comic....not that his reputation was undeserved, he just wanted a change and thought it should be someone else's turn.
Camillia Grenville was content to be the eldest spinster sister....until he father announced he had betrothed her to a man.....a dishwater dull man almost his own age.
She was going to submit for her sister's sake...but decided on one act of rebellion.....having fun in the few weeks of freedom she had left.
To this end her sisters talked her into attending a masquerade ball at the rather risque Duke Lambley's home.
Micheal and Camillia meet and find solace with each other without even knowing each other's identity for one evening a week, three weeks in a row.
They had met before the party, he had thought her a bore, she thought he was his reputation.
Woven with disappointment, humor, happiness and sensuality, it makes a very nice addition to the 'Lords' series.

What a sweet story. I'm a sucker for a good fairy tale and this one was a joy to read. It just proves a bad boy can change his ways for a special girl. I cant wait to read about the 2 younger girls they got a lot of spunk so it will be fun to read what goes on with them ty so much for the story

A very entertaining read as I would expect of an Erica Ridley novel. Good characters, good storyline, just the right length. What more could one ask for? Thoroughly recommend.

A well written, enthralling romance with hints of Cinderella, Lord of Pleasure tells the delightful tale of Michael, the Earl of Wainwright and the mousy spinster, Carmellia Grenville. A series of masquerade balls and the anonymity of masks allow Michael and Carmellia the liberty to cast off society's expectations to see the souls beneath. Falling in love at night, the two remain at odds during the day as Michael cannot escape his roguish reputation and careless words. The big reveal of who Lord and Lady X actually are just drive home the lesson that a book cannot be judged by its cover. Character growth is tremendous as Michael throws out his roguish ways and Carmellia grows the backbone to throw off societal expectations in the pursuit of happiness to reveal two complex characters. A beautifully written fairy tale with a hero to fall in love with and a heroine to relate to that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys happily ever afters. My voluntary review is based upon an advanced review copy.

Reputation is everything. Lord Wainwright’s reputation is all bad. There has never been any gossip about Miss Grenville at all.
Together, they manage to scandalize society. Another entertaining Rogues to Riches story by Erica Ridley

This is one of my favorite authors. I get so excited when I see she has a new book. This one did NOT disappoint. Great story. Great characters. Can't wait for the next one!

Miss Camellia Grenville has always done the proper thing for the family. She is the good and dutiful daughter and has even kept herself from enjoying most social events so as to not impinge on the family's reputation. When she takes an opportunity to go to a masquerade party, her whole world changes. Lord Wainwright is known to the ton as the Lord of Pleasure. His very presence makes women swoon and he charms every woman he sees. When a bet with his friends to remain out of the scandal sheets for 40 days tests him in ways he never saw coming, he realizes that he does want to be a better man and not just to win a bet. When he meets Lady X at the masquerade, he has no idea who he falling for.

I enjoy Ms. Ridley's writing and have read many of her other books. This one, however, did not quite charm me as the other ones have. I especially thought the announcement that Camellia makes at the end of the book was totally out of her character. One doesn't go from being "mousy" to "scandalous" in a month's time. I did enjoy the banter between Camellia and Wainwright at the masquerades although I thought the revealing moment at the party was a little over the top.

While this book wasn't my favorite, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what the next Grenville sister does.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love a good historical romance, especially when there's a Masquerade involved. That's when the fun starts. Lol. Anyway, I adore both the MC in this story and I'm happy they had lots of interaction time even if they didn't really know that they're each other's love interest. It kept me anticipating when they'll find out and what their reaction would be. All in all, a fun read. I'm glad to have received an early copy. Thank you Erica Ridley. :)

I have received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I felt that this book was just okay. While I love historical and regency romances, I couldn't really get into this one. I felt like the Grenville sisters were varying degrees of annoying. With Camellia and Dahlia, being so judgmental. Personally, I felt Michael deserved better. I also felt the book took too long to get to the point. The book only became semi-enjoyable towards the end.

I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in a new series by one of my favorite authors Erica Ridley. We have two characters that meet in secret every week and fall in love but they don't know who the other is. I enjoyed the story a great deal it was a pretty easy read.

I liked this one a touch more than the last one. While the "meet at a masquerade" plot isn't exactly new, especially when paired with "and fall in love with the man you despise", this was still sweet and fun. The Grenville sisters are a hoot, and I look forward to seeing the rest of their pairings.

Michael fell in love with Lady X. And he got to know Camellia and came to respect her. The same could be said for Cam. Michael is trying to turn from his rakeshell ways. She realized that the Michael she has started to know is not the Michael that society portrayed him as.
The book is slow going, but only because I couldn't wait for each of them to figure out who the other truly is. And in what way it would come out.

This is book two in the Rogues to Riches series and I think it might be my favorite books from Erica Ridley. I absolutely adored both Lord Wainwright and Miss Camellia Grenville's characters and their romance. I loved to see this side of a hero who doesn’t want his rakehell image but is stuck with it. He wants someone to see him for himself, know the real person behind the mask rather than the image that the ton has created for him. The heroine, on the other hand, is labeled as mousy but is daring and a risk taker at heart. The chemistry between the hero and the heroine in sheet-scorching hot but the romance is also just as much sweet and romantic. This book will definitely end up on my shelf of favorite romances.
