A Country Love Song is sweet and charming and just a lovely story. It's the first book in the Smoky Mountain Knights series. This is a second chance at love story which brings together up and coming country singer Sutter Knight and her former teenage sweetheart Dawson Yates.
It's clear these two never stopped loving each other though hearts were broken ten years earlier when Sutter went to Nashville and Dawson headed in the other direction to gain his architecture qualifications.
I loved the small town feel of this book. I loved the push and pull between Sutter and Tanner as their story unfolded, and I loved the hope and promise of better things to come. The story is well rounded and well told and left me eager for the next in the series.

This was a lovely second chance contemporary romance and the first book in a proposed series that I will definitely have to follow.
Sutter and Dawson were high school sweethearts but broke up when Sutter left for Nashville to follow her dream of country music stardom. Ten years later, she returns to her hometown and finds that the old community venue where she and Dawson used to perform is about to be demolished, and Dawson is behind the project.
This was a perfect, light summer read, which was well written and very sweet. A charming small town setting, credible and very likable protagonists, some interesting side characters and some witty banter. I really enjoyed this. Nothing explicit, instead focusing completely on feelings and relationships. I loved the music aspect as well.
I received an ARC via NetGalley.

This was a simple and amazingly sweet book about life, love, and second chances. No heavy petting, nothing nefarious, just the simple pleasure of fighting for what you want and believe in (on multiple fronts) and reclaiming what's been yours all along, even if you didn't know it. This was a great read, and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good book, or needs a bit of a pic-me-up.

It’s been ten years but finally Sutter Knight feels like she has finally made it in the country music business. All of those late nights working two jobs to make rent and then to pick up any singing or playing back up for someone in there band. She has now just finished headlining her own tour and has decided to go to her home town of Sweet Tea Tennessee. When she arrives she notices that the theater in the main part of town is closed and finds out that it is getting ready to be torn down. This puts her direct conflict with the project manager her and ex-boyfriend Dawson Yates. When they finished high school he got a full ride to Brown an Ivy League education and is now an architect, she went to Nashville the school of hard knocks to become a country star. Now they are both thrown for loop when seeing each other and not only do they have the past to sort out but also the future. They are both still in love with each other but for me Dawson is a jerk especially always giving her an all or nothing line, wanting her to walk away from her career without even trying to make it work. My only problem with the story is the author never has them sit down and talk about what happened ten years ago and all you get is his side and she cannot tell him her point of view. Other than that it is a cute story.

A second chance at love comes to former high school sweethearts, Sutter Knight and Dawson Yates when they reunite in their hometown of Sweet Tea, Tennessee.

Sutter and Dawson haven’t spoken to each other in ten years when they both left town to pursue their dreams. Sutter is now a big country music star and Dawson is an architect. When Sutter returns home and discovers the Sweet Tea Gallery Theatre (that holds so many memories) is scheduled to be demolished, she is devastated. Then she discovers the contractor is none other than Dawson. Dawson plans to build a hotel in the theater’s spot. Sutter and Dawson both have strong feeling about what they want in town, but they also discover what they want out of life when they are brought together again.

I always enjoy a good second chance romance and this one was just as good as I thought it would be. It was sweet and entertaining and the nice start of a new series.

I loved my first trip to Sweet Tea, Tennessee and meeting the first (though not oldest) of the 5 night sisters (plus an intro to Blue). This book was sweet and funny - Sutter was a piece of work with an incredibly good heart and it was so much fun to see how she frustrated Deacon and turned his world upside down. I really enjoyed seeing them develop from a young love, and recognizing ways in which they made mistakes as teenagers, into a mature love.

I really enjoyed this one. It's a very sweet romance - heavy on the sweet, not at all X rated which is kind of nice for a change of pace. A lot of romances are very heavy with the physical stuff but this was more about the relationship and the feelings. It was a little refreshing, to be honest. The town in this novel, Sweet Tea, is a perfect location for a romance like this one. The story itself is a 'girl comes home and has a second chance with her first love'. The story also has a great deal of country music, architecture, and fundraising aspects which were fun and unusual. I really liked the characters - the side characters, in particular, shine in this romance. It makes me wonder if they will show up in future installments of the series and I hope that's true! All in all, I really enjoyed this romance and look forward to the future books. If you like a good second chance romance story with more sweetness than heavy sex, then this is the one for you! It's really good and definitely worth the read!

A Country Love Song is such a bittersweet romance between two people who had loved each other from childhood and allowed their dreams to send them in different directions separately instead of making that journey together. Sutter had turned to Nashville and further musical training for her dream of a music career. Dawson had taken the full sports scholarship up North to get his architectural degree. Each has had their hard knocks years and each are now finding success in their chosen fields. Now ten years later Sutter has made an impromptu visit to her hometown of Sweet Tea, Tennessee and makes a discovery that will pit her against the boy she’d loved… and the man he’s become.

I had my suspicions early on as to what exactly had divided Dawson and Sutter all those years ago. And I freely admit that that fact angered me for this couple. No spoilers as that’s not fair, yet good intentions are sometimes the worst possible thing that can happen to a person.

Sutter is impulsive and passionate, she definitely takes no flack from anyone. She’s quite willing to face down Dawson over a project that she feels strongly about, and is willing to put her talent and connections to good use to change fate. I believe the most touching scene (and there were many) was when Dawson stumbled on the stairs in his office when learning Sutter was back in town. This is a man who loved deeply, and perhaps only once in his life. That love hadn’t died and that reaction brought that fact home to the reader very strongly.

I enjoyed this couple very much. A Country Love Song is an emotional journey for everyone involved. A second chance… perhaps. A continuation of a love that never lost it’s flame, more likely. If you love Romance then this is a story that you’ll want to pick up. It is full of all the emotions, good and bad, that loving, losing and finding that one person again could possibly create. I’m looking forward to the next story in this series, and would recommend it for any Romance reader who loves a solid story, believable characters and holds onto hope that a wrong can be made right eventually.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Wow, Smoky Mountain Knights Romance #1, A Country Love Song by Sinclair Jayne is an awesome read. Take two positive goals that clash, add two memorable characters with a history, with a good helping of small town residents, stir it all together with great writing, out comes A Country Love Song.

This is a second chance at love with that special one that got away but it is also a look at the dilemma small town are facing everywhere. As always Sinclair Jayne makes you think while entertaining you with a charming love story. This is an author to watch, she is going to soar.

What an enchanting and fast-paced story Ms. Jayne has penned in this book, which had me hooked from the very beginning with how the heroine reacts to what's happening in her hometown. She's devastated as she has such great memories of the theater, because she's so musically talented and it's a place that helped her build her confidence and taught her to be more appreciative of what she's accomplished. Since if it wasn't for the old theater and showing the town how talented she is, no way would someone have pushed her to reach for more and encourage her to leave town to pursue her dreams.

As for the dialogue, it was hard not to be affected by the emotional roller coaster this hero and heroine take readers on, as their growing relationship illustrates that love doesn't die, no matter how long they've been apart for. However, I could understand the hero's need to protect himself by keeping his distance from Sutter, because he knows that once she gets her way she'll leave town again. Since there's no way that she won't, especially after all she's achieved in her career.

Furthermore, I loved the hero. He's done well for himself in all that he's achieved. How can Sutter be so determined to stand in the way of all the good that he's trying to do for Sweet Tea? Why is Sutter so determined for the pair to take a walk down memory lane -- so to speak -- and remind him of all the good times they had? In some ways, I thought it was a tad selfish of the heroine the way she uses their past when she was the one to leave him ten years ago. Yet, at the same time, she's trying to do what's right for the people of Sweet Tea, especially the children. They need music in their lives like she had in hers. While the heroine, she's strong, brave and I liked how determined she was to make sure the theater lived to see another day, because it's an important structure in the town, and still has a lot of offer. Also, I liked that the heroine was willing to get the secondary characters involved in her cause, as her sister is a pit-bull when it comes to going after what she wants.

Overall, Ms. Jayne has delivered a fantastic read in this book where the intense chemistry between this couple entertained me from the moment they came face-to-face for the first time in this story to the very end. Will they get their second shot at happy ever after? Will Dawson be able to forgive the person that interfered in their past relationship to make sure both he and Sutter ended up where they have in their lives? The way this story ended had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after, as no one deserved it more than these two. They needed to go their separate ways to achieve what they have, but I'm glad that they found their way back to each other. Because they're a couple meant to be, no matter the obstacles they face on their journey to happy ever after. I would recommend A Country Love Song by Sinclair Jayne, if you enjoy second chance romances, small town romances or books by authors Melissa Foster, Cora Seton or Bella Andre.

I really enjoyed this one! Sutton and Dawson are great characters and their second chance story was fantastic. These two were high school sweethearts. Dawson went to college while Sutton pursued her musical career. She's finally made it big and plans a trip back home to visit her musical mentor. While home she finds out the towns old theater is about to be torn down. This was the place where she got her start. Deciding to fight she finds herself on the opposite side of the project from Dawson. He's everything she remembers and more and the spark between them still burns.

I highly recommend this one.

A Country Love Song is a good second chance love story. Sutter and Dawson were high school sweetheart but after school ended they went their separate ways to chase their dreams. Ten years later they are reunited and they realise the thing they always wanted was right in front of them. A little predicable but still a great read.

3 1/2 Stars! Dawson and Sutter grew up together in Sweet Tea, Tennessee and become high school sweethearts. Together they sang and acted in plays at the Sweet Tea Gallery Theatre, which soon became their second home. But when high school ended they went their separate ways. Sutter went to Nashville to pursue a singing career while Dawson headed to the northern US to go to architecture school. 10 years pass and Sutter has not heard a word from Dawson ... but she has realized all her other dreams including becoming a country music star. She is missing her home town, so she heads back to Sweet Tea only to find that the Theatre is being demolished and a hotel is gonna be built in its place. Not only did she not know that Dawson was back home, but he is the responsible for the demolition. Sutter thought she was over him but when she sees him again, her heart starts racing and all her thoughts are of him. And by the looks of him ... he is not over her either.

This is a sweet romance, but I found it too slow moving and predictable.

A Country Love Song by Sinclair Jayne
A Smoky Mountain Knights Romance #1

WOW! I started this book last night and could not put it down till I finished THEN thought about the story for a while longer. I did not sleep till after 2am because sometimes a story is just so compelling that a mind cannot let it go till the story is finished and sometimes the story is not finished after reading the last page!

This is a second chance at love love story that works. There were reasons that Sutter and Dawson were in love for years but also reasons that made sense, at the time, for them to separate after high school. The fact that neither one ever connected with anyone as they had with each another was one significant reason the two might be able to reconnect – and then add in the fact that their chemistry was still off the charts didn’t hurt either. Once some honest communication took place and truths were brought to light the relationship had a good chance of making it but it still was not easy for either of them…and would not have a chance at all without both being willing to be all in all the way forever…and that was a toughie for both of them. Working to restore the Sweet Tea Gallery Theater was almost easier than restoring their relationship for an ultimate HEA.

There is so much I could say about Sutter, Dawson and their relationship before and after the big breakup BUT I won’t – I will just say this is a book worth reading and one that made me happy. I will also say that I am EAGER to read the next book in the series if it is even half as good as this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

5 Stars

I really enjoyed this novel. Hometown girl who is finally making a name for herself comes home, and happens to find many things that she missed. While there are a few times that the plot jumps ahead pretty quickly without much description, overall this was a great read.
