This is 1/6 of a book! Really? It gave a feel for who I guess will be the main characters, and a prelude telling how a child goes missing? That's it! Now if you want to read the rest you need to buy 5 more books (@ $2 each). Not for me. It wasn't that great & wasn't enough to hook me. It was good enough that I would have read the whole book, if it was a whole book.

I didn't realize this had so many parts I'm gonna skip it but thanks anyway! The idea sounds great, would've liked to read it as one solid book

Thanks for Netgalley for the ARC copy for my Kindle.
Short & an easy book to read. Liked it except for the intimate sexual details, didn't need these in the story. But I will read the 2nd book.

This was only 1/6 of the story, but it was very enjoyable at that! It almost reminded me of the TV Show Revenge. The main character Sarah's grudge against her sister Maisey has yet to be fully explained because of the fact that this segment of the series is so short. I wish that this six part story was combined more because the way it is spaced out is a bit off-putting.

It's short, which is both a blessing and a curse in this case. It's good because I'm irritated with the brevity of this book. It doesn't have time to get going deep enough with the way it's written. It's good because I didn't have to spend a great deal of time on something that fell through. I have no idea if I would have liked this book had it been longer. As far as episodes go, this one isn't my favorite. It's priced high and too strung out to keep my interest going.

My copy came from Net Galley. My thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is left of my own free volition.

I enjoyed the different view points between Sarah and her sister, Maisey/Lucy. There were a few points that I noticed would be a trigger for individuals that have been in abusive situations. Also for people that react strongly to when reading a story in which the author is implying that the spouse is cheating. There was some sexual content but nothing that was severely graphic. The terms used were slang for the most part.. The main character, Sarah is in a very controlling situation with her husband and his mother. Her mother-in-law feels it necessary to point out her weight after just having a baby, is pushing her to invite her family for a week and is taking cheap shots where she can. Sarah's husband is being felt up by people that should be her friends right in front of her. When she was going to say something, her husband silenced her with a look and then made it a point to force her to take off her panties discreetly while still talking to her friends and then being told to go into the restroom and put herself on facetime so he could watch her masturbate for him. I don't care for plots that have these kinds of controlling behaviors as they are a trigger for me (the way her husband dictates what she can/cannot do and wear and say, etc). Others may honestly not be bothered by it and might enjoy the romantic parts of the storyline however for me, I will not be continuing the series.

I enjoyed part one, it was a good start to the "series", which are all just portions of one novel. That I wasn't too keen on. I like the protagonist but many of the other characters are VERY unlikable, almost to the extreme. I'm interested in seeing what part 2 holds in store.

Good read, easy to get caught up in. I didn't realize it was actually short as it is. It doesn't feel that way reading it. Definitely don't like her husband thus far and will look for the rest in the series.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me a chance to review this page turner. The characters grab you immediately. You already start trying to figure out who each person is and what the big secret is. I was completely engrossed from the moment I got to the third page. I've already downloaded all the other 5 books and looking forward to start my vacation this week with a few good books....!

Not my usual read but I liked it . The characters were interesting and it kept me entertained

First, I read this novella in about an hour. Which I suppose explains why it is in 6 parts. It does a nice job of setting up the various players who will most likely be involved in the ongoing plot line. However, every single character was a caricature of stock inhabitants in a mystery; the evil Mother in Law, the callow husband who shows one face in public and another in private, the long suffering wife who stays with this jerk for the child they have together, the mysterious sister to the wife, who harbors a secret in her pasr, the catty circle of 'friends' the wife reluctantly associates with. The mystery was only slightly interesting as I'm pretty sure I had it figured out by the cliffhanger ending. The whole thing felt very cliche, but if you are just looking for a quick diversion to kill an hour or so, it'll do the job.

Released in six separate parts, Take it to the Grave is a suspense thriller about two sisters running from their dark past. In part one Sarah is struggling to balance new motherhood and her husbands snobby family. Her younger sister Maisey is working around the globe in a nursing program. In preparation for Sarah's son's christening, she's pressured to invite her family to the Hamptons, specifically Maisey.

In just a few chapters Zoe Carter manages to pack a heavy dose of suspense. From hints that neither sister is completely mentally healthy, despite living their dream lives, to the underlying thread of a past that doesn't want to remain in the past, I can see the next five parts of this story are going to create a tangled web.

While I enjoyed this opening to Take it to the Grave, I'm a little on the fence about the setup. Sarah's in-laws and their snobby friends are excruciatingly annoying and to me, have way too much page time. It doesn't take a lot to show that Sarah is trying to fit in with a slew of privileged people that she can't seem to keep up with so that aspect of the story was written with a heavy hand. Hopefully, continuing on in the story they'll be pushed enough into the background that I can fully take in the thrilling aspects of the novel.

I didn’t realize this was going to be a short novella, thought it was a full length novel honestly. After reading through, I am definitely waiting on the next installment. This thriller is poised to keep the reader on the edge of their seats throughout the series. I already have so many questions that need to be answered and it ended on the perfect note.
Sarah is a privileged lady, who lives in a very affluent family. This family seems to be very controlling and as is the stereotype with rich families is very concerned with appearances. The gist you get from both Sarah and Maisey’s memories is that their childhood was not a good one. The two sisters do not have a good relationship and haven’t spoken in years, clearly something related to a child judging by their memories.
I can’t wait to read the next installment.

This is the first part of a six part series written by Zoe Carter and my first exposure to this author. Sarah and Maisey are estranged sisters whose lives have gone in very different directions. Sarah married to a man from an affluent background, while living a privileged life hardly fits in the East Hampton world of the rich and famous. While someone looking at a photograph of Sarah, her husband, son, extended family and friends might be envious, her life beyond that posed moment appears anything but idyllic. In this first installment, I couldn’t figure out how Sarah came to be a part of this world, since she not only seemed uncomfortable, but everyone around her all seemed to have opinions and agendas that were most definitely not pro-Sarah.
On the other side of the world, about as far from the south shore of Long Island as you can get, her sister Maisey works as a nurse in remote and impoverished parts of the world. She will connect with people as long as there are no strings attached, and no one knows anything about her past, which is just the way Maisey likes it. If she is in a relationship with someone who wants to know more about her and become more serious, well, Maisey will be gone, to the next job, the next location without seemingly a backwards glance. Again, I couldn’t determine what event or events in her past made her choose to become a nurse essentially living a very difficult and nomadic life.
The glimpses into Sarah and Maisey’s lives and secrets were enough to make me wonder what happens next.

A newborn baby, a rich and handsome husband, a privileged life... Sarah Taylor-Cox has it all. But as you learn more about her mother-in-law, her husband, her friends, and the poisonous community she's surrounded by, you begin to wonder if Sarah's life is all that great after all.

Maisey, Sarah's younger sister, is on the other side of the world doing humanitarian work with Nurses Without Borders. Maisey is seemingly Sarah's complete opposite: a free spirit who refuses to be tied down by love and marriage, going so far as to leave a project in the middle of the night after her "fling" tells her he loves her. So now Maisey is headed back to the States just when Sarah could use a friendly face.

Take it to the Grave is being released serially. Part 1 was quite good - upsetting, tense, with character building and the start of a rising conflict. I am definitely interested in learning what comes next!

Just finished Take It to the Grave by Zoe Carter, and wow is all I can say. I received an free advanced copy from Net Galley for an honest review. First we read about Sarah's missing child, a mother's worst nightmare come true. From first glance it seems that Sarah's life is a grand one, but as the chapters reveal, not everything is rosy and perfect. We learn a little bit about her childhood, but more the people who surround her life,. A life I would not wish upon any one. Then we meet Maisey, her sister, who take off at moments notice, even when the work she is doing is greatly needed. Truly a great read, kept me up at night to finish the novel, and it was worth it. Have to get the next installment.

Short story part 1 of the series. Goes back and forth between sisters who lead very different lives. One is doing missionary work as a nurse in another country. The other just had a baby with her affluent husband. They start thinking of things in the past. Can't wait for part 2.

I thought this would be a short, thrilling piece of work, and an introduction to a new to me author, Zoë Carter. Well, two outta 3 ain't bad.

The Good: It was short. Yep, that's about it folks. I'd like to say the writing style appealed to me but it didn't. I'd like to say the intrigue of the storyline captured me but it didn't. I'd like to say the characters spoke to me but....well, actually they did. They said we are all horrible creatures drawn to be completely unlikable to our readers. Not necessarily a good thing when it comes to someone as character driven as myself. However, the plot wasn't without some interest on my part. I thought the opening prologue was interesting, even though nothing in the next 50 pages mentioned it again. I thought the ending was interesting as well, except it came a little to late for me to care what happens next in the story.

The Bad: The book was narrated by both Sarah and Maisey, alternatively. I don't normally mind this but when you're looking at the grand scheme of the book I had in hand, it didn't really work. I had 1/6th of this story. The constant back and forth perspectives made it impossible to really get "into" the story and to feel the tension it was supposed to create. In addition, the characters didn't have the time to grow and feel three dimensional to the reader because we were limited in page space. If the goal was always to release this book as a serial, having the first part as Sarah's voice and the second part, Maisey's, alternating that way, might have worked more in it's favor. Now here is one of my biggest contentions about this book....perhaps, through no fault of the author herself, the first part was offered for free on Amazon, at first. Now it costs $1.99. Each part costs $1.99, with the exception of part 2 right now is on sale for $.99. So, if you managed to get the first part for free and the second part for a buck to get the complete story you, dear reader, will shell out almost $9.00 for a book by an author who now has 2 books under her belt. I'm not trying to undermined all the work Ms. Carter put into her craft but when I can spend only a couple more dollars to get a brand new release by an author who is tried and true with dozens of NT Times #1 best sellers, why would I? I wouldn't.

In a Nutshell: I'm sorry Ms. Carter but I refuse to read any more of this book. Perhaps if it were to be offered as one complete book at a decent price I might reconsider. However, I do see your other book on Amazon is reasonably priced and is a full novel. I will check it out because I don't feel as if I've given you and your writing a reasonable chance.

In Part 1 of 6 of Take it to the Grave, we meet two sisters, Sarah and Maisey, who are estranged, and both with secrets they do not want revealed. Sarah is living a the life of a wealthy socialite in the Hamptons, while Maisey is a nurse, part of a group called Nurses Without Borders. Things come to a head in this first installment when Sarah's in-laws plan a christening for her newborn baby, and Sarah does not want to invite her family to attend. Her family did not attend her wedding either, so they are shrouded in mystery. Sarah finally decides to invite Maisey to the christening, and as Maisey is on her way to the Hamptons, Sarah receives a very disturbing text message.

This first installment was very readable and definitely leaves the reader wanting more, and although it is being presented in serial form, all installments are available, so there is does not have to be any waiting to find out what happens next with these two enigmatic sisters.
