Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartsone. Their cover? Owners and operators of a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. As the chairman, Alec has been fending off requests to film at the breathtaking property. It’s only because of the charming correspondence from an enterprising production assistant that he agrees to a meeting at all. That’s when Alec meets a woman whose lush curves make him forget, for the first time, all about tenth-century Scotland.

A lowly assistant for her sister’s motion picture company, wannabe screenwriter Sadie Williams is shocked when Alec agrees to let them film at the park upon one condition: that she report to him daily. Sadie’s sister always told her that their parents only adopted her because they felt sorry for the ugly little stray. But Alec looks at Sadie like she’s the most tempting creature in the world. And with his gleaming, musclebound body stripped down to nothing but a hip-hugging kilt and boots, Alec clearly knows a little something about temptation.

Alec MacDara and his family are druids in charge of the Heartstone. The Heartstone is the item that brings hope, love and creativity to the world. The MacDara family were brought forward in time by goddesses from the 10th century to modern day North Carolina to protect the Heartstone, and the family. They began and have run Highland Life and Legends theme park for many years.

Sadie Williams’ sister owns a film company and wants to film at Highland Life and Legends. Sadie emails Alec thinking that an assistant of some sort would be reading the emails. Alec actually reads them and is so enthralled with the sender that he agrees to an interview. The film company gets the right to film at HL&L but Alec has the stipulation that Sadie must stay at his home with his family the full six weeks for filming.

While Sadie is at the MacDara household she gets closer with Alec and soon they fall in love. Unfortunately Sadie’s sister, the evil beast that she is, ruins everything and soon Sadie is on her own once again.

Right after I received an eARC from NetGalley I opened this book up as I was pretty excited to read it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very far into it when I put it back down. Alec seemed creepy and I wasn’t sure about him at all. When the book title came up in my schedule again I wasn’t sure I wanted to finish it but I actually started from the beginning once again and gave it a fair shot. I think it might have been my state of mind that had previously made him seem creepy – he wasn’t. That said he was completely smitten by Sadie even before he met her and once they’d met he was like a puppy with a bone he couldn’t put down. They fell in love extremely quickly – like in a couple of days and that didn’t feel right to me. Sadie kept vacillating back and forth and that drove me nuts. They got engaged within days and yeah…that just doesn’t happen. (OK, I’m sure it does but extremely rarely IRL.)

The part that had to do with Sadie’s sister was ridiculous, imho. I guess Sadie had been conditioned by her sister to accept blame for everything the sister did, but I think Sadie took it to the nth degree and that was just too far. She put her relationship with Alec on the line because of something her sister did and it just didn’t ring true.

I’d love to say that what Alec did to win Sadie back to wonderfully romantic but I just didn’t think so. I wanted him to just talk to her instead of coming up with this incredible ruse – like that’s what he needed to convince her to be with him. IDK, seemed far-fetched to me.

Overall the story was decent but there was enough in there that bothered me that I’m not sure I can recommend this one.

I was captivated by this romance. It was fantastic. I read it in one sitting, it was so good. I didn’t really know what to expect going into the novel. I was a little hesitant about the whole time travel magic aspect and while I'm still not sure how I feel about the Druid and magic part of the novel, I did enjoy every other aspect. The characters, the feel of novel, and ultimately the romance were all on point.

Sadie is an amazing character. I love her views on her body and how women are depicted in social media. But my favorite part about Sadie was her inner monologue, without fail it always made me laugh.

Another thing that made me laugh was Alec and his family. Nothing is funnier than a big burly Scotsman getting embarrassed by his mommy. But I loved the family bond Alec's family had and how they interacted with on another. It gave the novel a homely touch.

Once thing I always like to mention when it comes to romance novels especially are the sex scenes. I am aware that not everyone is comfortable with sex scenes. If that is the case then you shouldn’t read this novel. There are many steamy and very detailed sex scenes. Hint: I will never look at a strawberry the same again. But if you’re looking for a hot novel to knock your socks off then look no further, this baby has got it.

Overall, a sizzling romance with much laughter and love. It’s an amazing story, with amazing characters. My only complaint is that I want more and I am not very patient.

This was not my cup of tea. I got so sick about hearing how "fat" the lead was. Ok I get the point you wanted to show that "big" girls can get love too. It went way overboard was too obvious. Especially saying women who were thin were evil. I love how every man in the story was beautiful. No dad bod men here, but we had to make a point for the women in the story,

My review wasn't positive so I didn't post it.

Alec is a sexy highlander, and he wears sexy kilts and lives in a castle...in North Carolina. His family has been tasked by the goddesses to protect the heart stone, which is responsible for giving humans a reason to live. Kind of cheesy, but cute. They've been thrown from the tenth century into present time so the stone can be protected, and they've created this highland theme park. Enter Sadie, who is an aspiring screenwriter. She has a demon of a sister, who owns the motion picture company Sadie works for. She's basically stomped all over by everyone except Alec and his family. Sadie and Alec

Sadie and Alec have some good chemistry, and I loved how much Alec supported her. What bothered me was how Sadie just took her sister's shit and it took until the climax for her to stand up for herself. There was some insta-love going on too, and seriously the timeline of how their relationship developed was a little too much for me... My other issue was how Sadie learns about Alec's origins. She was understandably skeptical when he tried explaining it to her, but then she just has this epiphany and blindly accepts everything he's telling her.

Despite this, I still really enjoyed reading it. I love time travel in my books, and I really love sexy highlanders, so that was enough to keep me reading mostly happily. Sadie's sister was a real bitch, had no work ethic, and basically had no respect for anyone but herself. There was enough going on in the plot that I never got bored and I loved watching Sadie come to accept herself. This was an easy and quick read; perfect for the summer!

Sadie's Highlander, by Maeve Greyson is a compelling paranormal romance that mixes historical highlanders with contemporary times.

The MacDara clan is tasked with the honor of guarding the sacred Heartstone. Due to extreme difficulties and violence in 10th century Scotland, the MacDara family is transported to the 21st century in North Carolina.

Alec MacDara, a former Highland warrior, is now the CEO of a Scottish historical theme park called Highland Life and Legends, which his family owns and operators while concealing their ancient past and continuing to protect the secret Heartstone. When a Hollywood company requests to film at their theme park, Alec meets Sadie Williams, a struggling screenwriter and assistant to her obnoxious sister, and decides that she's perfect for him. Sadie is riddled with insecurities, yet she focuses on writing skills, as well as her attraction to Alec.

With a pleasant mix of modern day and historic highlander romance, it's a lovely story with captivating characters and humorous interactions, yet the ending was slightly disappointing and unfulfilling, especially compared to the rest of the highly enjoyable story. However, it's an ARC, so (hopefully) the ending will be adjusted in the final print.

Sadie's Highlander is the first book in the Highland Protector series, and it's geared towards those who enjoy reading contemporary and highlander romances.

Alec MacDara, a Highland warrior, and his family have traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartstone. They now live in North Carolina and run a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. A production assistant for a motion picture company has been emailing Alec about filming at the theme park. When he meets this girl, he is spellbound and forgets everything but the promise in her eyes.
Sadie Williams, a wannabe screenwriter, has always felt like a second-class citizen. Her sister, who owns the motion picture company, has always told her that she was adopted only because her parents felt sorry for her. She was brought up to feel like she was an ugly outcast. But, when she meets Alec, she’s entranced. The one caveat he states for the use of their property is that she spends every day with him. Alec decides that he will somehow get Sadie to believe that she is worth loving, and that he is her future.
I loved this time travel romance because it showed that beauty is not just what’s on the outside, but on the inside, in the heart. Sadie reminds me of women I’ve known that felt they were worthless and stuck in no-win situations. It’s always in their dreams to be rescued by a handsome, kind gentleman who will sweep them off their feet. This story was lighthearted and a fast read. I can’t give it more than five stars, but I wish I could. An advanced reading copy was received in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this twist on time travel romance. Alec is from the past & Sadie is from the present. Alec has been looking for someone like her all of his life but never thought he'd find someone that would understand his family's secret. Sadie has very low self-esteem & a "sister" (Sadie is adopted) that treats her like dirt. Watching Sadie blossom & start to believe she's worthy of Alec's affections is beautiful. They're love is palpable throughout the book. Highly recommend reading this one!

This was a fun story about a family of Scottish highlanders thrown from 800 AD into present day for the good of humanity. The family of MacDaras have four sons and a daughter, each of which, I can see having their own entertaining tale. This, the first in the series, is of the oldest son Alec and a young woman named Sadie. The plot was interesting and the characters fun, and there was plenty of heat between the two main characters. It all takes place in a highland theme park in North Carolina, with a film crew, with a bit of chaos and whimsy throughout. I can see this shaping up to be an enjoyable series to follow.

Publisher's Description:

The Highland Protector series brings to life four mouthwatering Celtic brothers in twenty-first-century North Carolina—where the lasses are anything but tamed.

Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartstone.

My Thoughts;
Maeve Greyson has done it again! This first book in the new Highland Protector Series is not to be missed.

Sadie has grown up as an unwanted, adopted child. She was pretty much ignored by her adoptive parents and hated on sight by her parents only natural child. Her less than petite size has been a sore spot all her life. Although she is not unhappy with her curves, her family was always after her to loose weight.
Now her adoptive parents are dead and her sister holds the purse strings, so Sadie must submit to her cruelty.

Alec is the eldest son of his family that has been brought forward to the twenty first century from ancient Scotland to protect the Heartstone and the sacred weapons that surround it. They have been ensconced in a rural town in North Carolina and now run a thriving theme park based on Highland Life and legends.
Sadie's sister wants to film there so Sadie has been corresponding by email for weeks with a person she assumes is an assistant on staff at the theme park. It is, however Alec who has been reading these emails and this correspondence with Sadie is the only reason she and her hateful sister have been allowed to speak with him about filming a movie there.
Will this inauspicious beginning lead to the love that Alec hopes for or will Sadie's older sister be the ruin of an otherwise blooming love?
This, like most Maeve Greyson books I have read has a decidedly comical nature. It does also have a serious side that makes the reader look deeper into what society deems beautiful and acceptable.
I gave this book 5.0 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4.75 of 5.0 flames. Our hero and heroine enjoy some inventive sexual moments and the heat is palpable.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Get swept away with Sadie’s Highlander written by Maeve Greyson. Some people believe that time traveling can occur and then there are those, who only believe in the known. But since this is fiction, anything can happen.
In Sadie’s Highlander, we’re introduced to an entire family that traveled years into the future to protect the sacred Heartstone. And what better cover to do this is by operating a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. Alec doesn’t have a problem with a filming crew coming to the park as longs as one enterprising production assistant comes along for the ride. Well, what a ride it was, for Sadie’s life was full of nothing but an adventure from the time she was adopted into Williams’s family.
Sadie’s Highland has a wonderful plotline, even though this was a time-traveling – Highlander romance. It was anything but the run of the mill. Sadie’s Highlander didn’t spend too much time on the time-traveling even though it was mention several times during the story. But it did spend more time on the romance between Alex and Sadie.
Sadie’s Highlander was a winner for me. Like any story, it did have its downsides that might not be an issue for some readers.
For those readers who like Time travel, Hot Celtic men then Sadie Highlander is that story that you might want to add to your list of reads this Fall.

Sadie's Highlander is a fun beach read, one that you can finish in one or two sessions and enjoy. Predictable but lots of fun to read!

Sadie's Highlander provides the new Highlander Protection with a great start. Sadie is a hard working lackie for her nasty film producer sister. While she longs to write for film, her sister lies and promises her some writing credit on their current film. It seems like Alec MacDara has taken a shine to Sadie since they emailed each other because her sister, Delia wants to use the MacDara land for a movie. Delia encourages the naive Sadie to get cinch the deal.
The sparks between Sadie and Alec were sweet and sexy. I also loved the magical story of the Heartstone which is guarded by the MacDara family. If I had one problem with the story, it's that I feel Delia didn't pay enough for the meanness and trouble that she caused. Other than that, I will continue reading this intriguing new series.

I absolutely love time travel books particularly when you have one sexy hot alpha hero! *sigh*

This is a story of a powerful druid family, the MacDaras, who are thrown into the twenty first century with the help of a mighty goddess to guard and protect the blessed Heartstone. Alec MacDara, eldest son and tasked to lead his family is now the owner of the ultimate theme park in North Carolina, Highland Life and Legends.

Then we have the heroine Sadie Williams, who has self-esteem issues, works as an assistant for her evil sister Delia. Delia has a production company and wants to film in the theme park of Alec and needs his approval . Alec never allowed anyone to film in his theme park but due to the emails he received from Sadie, he approves the filming because for starters, he wants to meet the woman behind the said emails and when he does meet her, he finds himself strongly attracted to her. But said approval comes with conditions: and that is, Sadie lives in his mansion so they can work closely together and she puts a leash on her sister.. But naturally, things don't always go as planned and the evil sister always has to try and have her way..

I loved reading this book.. It's a whole different take on time travel romance and it's fast paced.. Never a dull moment for sure..

ARC was provided by NetGalley, Random House LLC and Ms. Maeve Greyson

Sadie' Highlander has all the necessary elements, but I struggled to finish it.

Alec Danaan MacDara is the eldest son and one of the protectors of the heartstone. Sadie Williams is the youngest sister and is very sweet and kind.
I found myself being drawn into the story from the prologue. The descriptions were wonderful, and I felt as though I was a part of the tale. The characters were so authentic, and real. They were kind and thoughtful but fierce when necessary. Esme is a teenager and acts just like one but is well loved by her family. You could see them all growing and living life to it's absolute fullness. The plot is a little different, but it moved well and was evenly paced and kept your attention. I loved this book, I found it mesmerizing and was delighted to see her sister get at least a touch of what she gave. The author did a great job taking all the parts and making it cohesive and so worth the read.. It does get racy in spots. I received this book from Net Galley and reviewed it voluntarily.

There were several things that bothered me in this book, which was sad because the author is clearly a talented writer. I enjoyed the preface and prologue, and I loved the inner monologue Alec had going on. However, there were two main issues that presented themselves early on which left the rest of the story to fall flat for me:

(1) How quickly they had sex. There was very little build up, their relationship wasn't given enough time to develop, and for someone who was so anxious about not taking the job for sex, Sadie couldn't get Alec's kilt off fast enough. Didn't seem genuine, and to be honest, this leaned more towards a BBW erotica than a romance. We get it - Sadie is very curvy. Move on. There are other ways of showing appreciation for women who are not thin besides bringing up her weight on every freaking page.

(2) Sadie was this weird combination of "I love myself" confident to "Nobody can love a fat girl" insecurity. The author needed to pick a persona for her and stick with it. I couldn't get a handle on her personality and it meant I couldn't connect with her as a heroine.

Sadie's Highlander ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️by Maeve Greyson
(Highland Protector #1)

This book fit the bill for me. Sexy highlander, times travels and the mousey sister made to feel beautiful and loved.

Alec MacDara is a time traveler from the tenth century. He and his family jumped time with the help of their Celtic goddesses to protect the sacred Hearstone. They have moved to the twenty first century under the guise of owners and operators of a successful theme park called Highland Life and Legends.

Alec has avoided every request to film at their authentic park but when he receives a series of 31 emails from Sadie, the production assistant at a movie production company, he feels he meets must meet her. Alec is so struck by her genuineness he wants to know her more. So their adventure begins.

I just loved this story from the beginning to the end. I really look forward to reading the rest of this new series by Ms Greyson.
