Sadie's Highlander by Maeve Greyson was a surprisingly refreshing historical modern time travel romance. It's the first book I've read by this author and with all the smiles and rapidly turning pages, it will not be my last. I appreciated the opportunity to read the book and Thank Netgalley and Loveswept for the ARC in exchange for a honest review. Link coming soon.

A great new highlander story by Maeve Greyson. Not a lot of time traveling like her previous series but still a wonderful story about Alec, a 10th century Scottish highlander sent into the future to protect the Heartstone with his family. Some years later, he meets Sadie and totally falls for her. The story was entertaining. The romance between Alec and Sadie was sweet and hot. The villain in the story was very hate-able. I totally wanted to bitch slap her. LOL. Sadie had some issues to overcome and it took her a bit too long for my taste to overcome them but with the past she had, it was understandable. But there was a HEA in the end so I was happy with how the story played out.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Even though I read several genre's of romance novels, the Highlander is my first love. I could probably count on one hand the author's I feel master the Highlander: the culture, the history and of course the HOT men. Ms. Greyson is one I would include as a master of the Highlander.

I have read several of her books but I think this was my absolute favorite!

The MacDara family has been brought forward in time as they are the protector of one of the world's most important artifacts. A loss of these artifacts could mean the end of man. They now live in N. Carolina and run a Highland themed Park, which is also a cover to protect the artifact. Alec is the oldest of the MacDara brothers, not really ever feeling he will find love and have an heir.

Sadie works for her sister, who has a film production company and has asked to make a film in the Highland theme park. Sadie's sister is a total b**** and treats her more like a slave, demeaning her every chance she gets. Sadie has dreams of being a film writer and feels her sister may eventually give her a chance if she bides her time. Sadie was deemed useless by her parents also, so her self esteem is non-existent.

As soon as Alec meets Sadie and finds out she is the writer of the emails he received in regards to filming at the Park, he is determined to spend more time with her. He thought she was charming, witty and funny in the emails and when he sees her, she is also beautiful to him.

One of his conditions to letting the Park be used for filming is that she spends the days with him, explaining what is going on with the filming. Sadie's sister sees this as a plus and basically tells Sadie to do WHATEVER she must to keep him occupied and away from the film site as she is not known by sticking to agreements when filming.

Sadie is just as attracted to Alec and they succumb to the attraction eventually. How can this last when she will be heading back to LA after the film finishes? Alec has other plans.....

When Sadie's sister pulls one of her unorthodox stunts, Sadie just knows it is all her fault and she can never forgive herself, can never be a part of Alec's life. Can he convince her otherwise?

I fell in love with Alec right away...he's handsome, smart, honest and such a good man. He shows Sadie from the beginning that she is not the person she was treated like all her life. And when he needs to be really patient with her it's hard for him to not just throw her over his shoulder and take her home, like a caveman.

I love the way Sadie's character was handled, how her needs were addressed.

If you are a lover of Highlanders, this is a must read! I look forward to seeing more of the MacDara family.

This was a poor start to a series.
At the very start you are overloaded with information that has too many holes. The lead male Alec falls in love within 15% of the book. Sadie and Alec don't do anything but have sex right up till 70% it's boring and there is no story apart from the sex scenes. The whole backstory needed to be brought in. I was disappointed the brothers weren't described and we knew nothing about them. They are after all part of the story. I hope the author doesn't disappoint in the next book of the series. There is more to stories than sex.
Sadies sister is an evil woman and is up to no good, but just when it starts to get interesting the book is quickly ended like the author had enough and just wanted the story to end. This was a huge let down and I wouldn't recommend it to other historical romance lovers. I will however pick up book two with the hope things get explained and more detail on the family is told.

Terrific story, giving the time travel genre a little twist. This highland family is bent on saving a modern girl from her awful family and herself. Quirky townspeople, brawl highland men and an all knowing demigod make this touching story fun and very readable.

Sadie Williams is employed by her sister's movie company and allowed to work at the ultimate theme park in North Carolina, Highland Life and Legends. The owner and operator of the park is Alec MacDara who is actually a tenth century, Scottish Highland warrior and time-traveler who has been transported to the twenty-first century along with his brothers. Sadie has to work closely with Alec and is attracted to the handsome Highlander. An enjoyable story and a cast of characters that are likable and engaging. Recommended for lovers of time-travel and historical romance.

I LOVED both Sadie and Alec. Sadie was the kind of heroine I love. Strong, yet super vulnerable. Alec was hot and alpha and I loved how he knew Sadie was for him right from the start. The story line of the Highland Warriors traveling FORWARD in time is unique and intriguing.
With all that being said, I was a bit disappointed with the end, it just fell a little flat for me. I believed that her sister was a horrible person, but I don't believe for one second that she would've done what she did. It just wouldn't happen (and yes, I know this is fiction, but no). And why did SADIE go to jail? She wasn't even there. And what happened to the sister and the others? There was no conclusion with her at all. And I didn't like how Alec's family treated him and the end was just a little silly. Anyway....I still enjoyed the story and will probably re-read because I loved Alex and Sadie that much! :)

An imaginative book that I really enjoyed and will definitely read again.
Alright, there were some parts where I thought that the heroine's feeling of guilt was a bit too much but, well, considering her upbringing and her history I fear that it might be rather realistic. I was upset though because I really really liked the heroine and I would have loved to kick her b*east of a sister in her b*eastly bony behind.

Okay, I think, it is obvious that the book got me and that the characters were interesting, even though not all of them are nice ones (nope, definitely not, this ....sister...is unbelievable, simply unbelievable....)
The whole story is not really a time travel story at least only partly because the whole family was sent forward to a time where they and the heartstone were safe, well, at least the stone was considered safe till...yep, right, at least the family is safe - and trying to adapt to modern life. Quite a feat for someone from the tenth century but a good mentor and 15 years are a big help there.

When Alec reads the mails sent daily by Sadie Williams in order to convince him and his brothers to open their theme park for her sister's motion picture company, he wants to get to know the woman behind the mails. In order to meet her and get to know her, he'll even put up with her sister Delia, b*east par excellence, and her movie company.

Delia's behaviour towards Sadie very often made me see red, such a spiteful, horrible woman - un.be.lie.va.ble. Fortunately Alec didn't tolerate her and her behaviour either and I just relished the moments when Delia has to realize that he is really interested in her supposedly plain and ugly adoptive sister and not in her bony, b*eastly beauty.
An interesting story with a nice setting and very likeable characters - I can recommend the book.

I always love me a kilt-wearing Scottish Highlander and I certainly would never turn Alec MacDara away. He has everything to make a lady swoon especially with his old-world charm. Sadie Williams is his ladylove in this story and I thought her character quite fun until the end of the story where I was getting a bit irritated with her. I found some of the background characters to be quite delightful and I really loved Esme. I would have liked to see a bit more of the other brothers. I did enjoy this story however the ending was silly to me.

What an interesting romance. Totally enjoyed it from start to finish. Good characters.

Alec likes to make sure his woman is well taken care of, “are ye no’ hungry then?” Alec frowned down at her full bowl. She’d just said she loved chicken and dumplings. He wanted to be certain to give her plenty." There are times Alec has to put his foot down on thingd, "...after the night it had snagged in his short and curlies and the pin had nearly impaled him in a rather important spot, he’d forbidden the wearing of the brooch during sex." I loved this book, and I can't wait for the rest of Alec's family to get books.

That was abrupt. And a bit confusing.

This is her sister? I'd disown her, not work for her!

Geez, she's Cinderella.

Take that, witch! Hunky Scot likes your sister, not your skinny Botox-ed butt.

Is this a meeting room or an interrogation cell?

I also hate technology.

Take the terms, girl. You'll be free of your annoying, evil sister.

Is that legal?

Why didn't the goddesses just keep them in modern Scotland?

One wonders if teenagers have always been bratty, even in the tenth century.

Well that's not stalkerish at all.

Will all their dates be chaperoned, hahaha?

Unlikely friends, but adorable.

Seriously, is there no one nice working at this company?

Why can't more men think like him?

Esme hears worse than that in school, you two.

She's going to send you a one-way ticket to Crazytown, Alec.

Does she trust anything?

The sheriff is on the MacDaras' side.

Yeah, Miss Martha, because what you name a goat is really important.

You know you could just fly to the city anytime, right, Miss Martha?

Naked old-lady bits kind of ruins the romance of the gesture.
