Ok. So that was like riding the Big Dipper with a blind fold on and then being put on the waltzer...

Whooa! WHAT. AN. ADRENALINE rush and I mean from sentence one to the last! This book grabs hold of you by your lapels and literally drags you along for the scariest, heart pounding read ... Well possibly E.V.E.R!!!

This thriller should come with a warning, if you are not a fan of horror or grisly murder scenes that only a deprived mad person could commit then don't pick this book!!! However if you are a bit of a thrill seeker, love twisty, pacy and truly shocking thrillers then I think you are going to LOVE this!!

Inventive is an understatement- this kind of reminded me of the films Final Destination. The imaginive work ( hopefully 😱😱) of a skilled writer who knows how to grab and keep his audience on tenterhooks delivering shocks and surprises that no one saw coming.

I literally couldn't put this book down and raced through it. It's an easy fast read because you keep turning those pages faster and faster. Just when I thought this couldn't get anymore exciting the last chapter or two pick up a pace and it's like POW.POW.POW with revelations delivered like punches to your senses until your dizzy with adrenaline. I adored the super strong female protagonist Hazel and Rena, they really enhances the book for me and the inclusion of the whole # Twitter trending element made this modern and even more chilling.

I kid you not this was one of the most brilliantly paced, exciting reads of my life.YES the murders are grisly, horrific and depraved but it's like being plonked in the middle of a very scary film and feeling like you're right their alongside the characters.if you love to be scared and are a fan of horror films this is a must must must!!

BRILLIANT!

First of all I want to thank Netgalley for the ARC and for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

Hazel Salter owns a company Veracity Media. She won an Emmy Award for best documentary ‘Isles Brides’ but now her company has big financial issues. Her office is about to shut down.
Now she wants to do another documentary and this time it is about the ‘Be my killer’ story. It’s about the one who dared to put his or her name into a Twitter stream. The Twitter account @BeMyKiller was supposedly set up as a prank. Millions of people had responded to the dare and put their names forward using #BeMyKiller and included a message goading their potential murderer.
Four people had died after using the hashtag, all over the USA. Hazel’s friend, Meredith Hickman, 26 years old, had been brutally murdered in Broomfield, Vermont. The girls grew up together in this place until Hazel, at the age of 10, left town with her mother when her father died.
Now she’s wants to find out what happened to her friend but most importantly she wants to find the killer too!
Hazel goes to Broomfield and she and her crew meet up in an abandoned shopping mall, that’s the place where they will camp out and she invites a few people to interview who have links to this Twitter story. Starting with Henrik Fossen, the one who created the Twitter account. Hazel is eager to get him in front of the camera. Hazel is convinced that this is the work of one person killing all these people. The FBI think otherwise …
As soon as they are settled strange things happen and people disappear. There is someone out there who doesn’t agree with what Hazel is doing …

The book is gripping from the moment you start to read. The way the author describes the brutal murders is absolutely gruesome. You know for sure this is a book where many things will happen and it’s not disappointing at all until the end. The author has done a great job and the plot was great, I had to guess until till very last pages who was involved.
The characters are well written, though I had to write them all down as there are so many and this was sometimes confusing to know who was who in some part of the book. As Hazel concerns, the author put a strong character on paper who has to deal with a lot of things and finds the strength to do so!
This book drags the reader into a story where a serial killer is at work. The settings where all the murders take place are spooky and the author takes you on a rollercoaster of events, fast and macabre.
The storyline is well found and it shows you how things with social media can go wrong and how some sick and twisted minds can take advantage of this. I suppose I should say that this book isn't for the faint-hearted, because it really knows no boundaries.
This was my first encounter with the author and it sure won’t be my last! I recommend the book very highly for those who like a dark story with a lot of twist and turns. 4 stars for this gripping and intense thriller!

Be My Killer (Follow You) by Richard Parker
Publisher: Bookouture

Thanks to NetGalley and publisher Bookouture for the ebook ARC of Follow You by author Richard Parker in exchange for an honest review.

An online prank, #BeMyKiller twitter post goes viral and it is just the beginning of gruesome murders.
Meredith Hickman, age 26 is brutally murdered in Broomfield, Vermont. Her childhood friend, Hazel Salter is a documentary maker and has to find out what happened to Meredith.
So Hazel decides to create a documentary with her film crew to find Meredith’s killer, and she will stop at nothing to find the truth. The location they choose is Fun Central which is the abandoned amusement park where Meredith was found.
The police have no leads, then Hazel’s friends on the film crew, start to go missing one by one.
Will Hazel discover what happened to Meredith before herself and her film crew all go missing?

I give this book a rating of 4 stars. I wasn’t too sure of how I felt about the book at the beginning, but I kept reading anyways and before I knew it I was completely pulled it. This book was extremely gruesome and had a twist at the end that I was definitely not expecting. I recommend reading this book!

I have a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out) so, after I read numerous posts and reviews on the blog tour for Follow You by Richard Parker (previously called, Be My Killer), I knew I had to add this one to my TBR pile. I am so glad that I did.
Totally creepy, dark and twisted, Follow You is one of those books that sticks with you and gives you chills.

Making a documentary about a viral hashtag, seemingly starting as a prank, that ends up triggering vicious attacks and allows serial killers to choose their next victim. Hazel, the film’s director, is horrified as these murders unfold but becomes especially invested after her childhood friend becomes a victim. What starts as a documentary soon turns into a snuff film as members of her cast and crew begin ti disappear.

The first thing that stood out for me was the originality of the plot; this was not your ordinary slasher style novel. Using the idea of social media and the way social media can manipulate and spread like wild fire, the #bemykiller hashtag felt like something that could have really happened. Any story that combines imagination with realistic events has me entranced.

From the first pages, I was intrigued. Parker opens this one up with a bang and the action continues throughout. I loved the pacing of this one. The short chapters kept me reading late into the night and the multiple narrators (both victim and not) had me on the edge of my seat. I also loved the setting; taking place in an abandoned children’s amusement park, it was the perfect place for such a creepy plot. The antagonist in this one is an absolutely vicious killer. There were several times I felt physically disgusted when I was reading some of the attacks. However, at the same time, I did find parts of this one quite redundant. The first few kills came as shock value but the ones that followed seemed to be overdone.

Overall, I felt like Parker did an awesome job at using the terrifying idea of a serial killer rampant in a technologically savvy world to his advantage and created a pretty killer novel (see what I did there?).

This was quite compelling at the beginning but as the novel went on, it just began to get more and more repetitive. I thought the identity of the killer didn't really make much sense; it was clear Parker was going for the whole 'let's do someone nobody would expect' thing, but I don't think that worked very well at all in this case. There were a lot of characters, which isn't an intrinsic flaw but in this case there wasn't enough characterisation for any of them, even Hazel, so everyone just seemed pretty flat.

The murder scenes were very gruesome which didn't bother me (even if I thought they were more for shock value rather than anything else), but if that sort of thing does bother you then you should probably stay away from this book.

I didn't think it was badly written, and the concept was pretty good. I enjoyed reading it, but I'll probably forget all about it in a week's time.

Be My Killer by author Richard Parker is definitely a book with an interesting basis. Current in its uses of social media and in particular Twitter as an instant form of communication. It becomes a way to submit people for death by using the Be My Killer hashtag.

Somebody has set up a prank twitter account called @bemykiller and people are tweeting how they would like to be killed using the hashtag #bemykiller. But four people have now died in four different cities and have been murdered in a similar way to their tweets to @bemykiller.

“When an online prank goes viral and triggers a spate of gruesome murders, documentary maker Hazel Salter watches in horror. But then Hazel’s childhood friend, Meredith Hickman, is the next victim and Hazel knows she has to find out what happened to her.”

Is it one killer or more? This is some sick twisted killer!

“The police have no leads, but Hazel has a theory – one she’ll stop at nothing to prove – and she also has a film crew. She’ll make a documentary, catch the killer, and give Meredith justice.”

Her stage is the abandoned amusement park where Meredith was found. Her cast are the family and friends the killer left behind. And her crew? They keep disappearing, one by one…

I'm not a big fan of horror and this leans more towards that than a murder mystery/thriller. This well written novel might not be the best book for someone who is overly squeamish, as it can be quite graphic in nature. The book is a decent length, with short snappy chapters make it a pretty quick read. I found there were too many characters, and it was difficult to keep track of them all. I would have liked to have seen less characters and more character development.

If you like graphic gruesome murder descriptive scenes then honestly this is definitely the book for you! I can see this will be absolutely perfect for some readers.

Thank you very much to Net Galley, my favourite publishers Bookouture and to the author Richard Parker.

I feel this book did not live up to its promise. I expected it to be a lot better. I was just glad to get to the end of it.

When I read the blurb for this book I could not have been more excited.  An abandoned theme park, a serial killer, a hideously unique modus operandi, this book seemed to have it all.  The premise of social media being used as a method of selecting victims was interesting, living in the modern world with ever evolving technology where everything is uploaded online, and the narcissism of the attention seeking ultimately lead them to their death.

A film crew decide to visit "Fun Central" the location of one of the #bemykiller murders, which is not so much an abandoned theme park but more an old, empty amusement arcade.  Think disused Go-Kart track and dusty old ball pits.  This becomes the central location for the story as the film crew begin to shoot a documentary on the murders and the killer who was never caught.  In an attempt to cut costs the crew stay overnight on location, with family members of the victims coming from a nearby hotel to take part in the filming.  One by one, cast and crew start disappearing and meeting their end in the most grisly of way.

There are a lot of characters in this book, so many in fact that I struggled to keep track of them all.  As they all referred to each other by surnames, it did get quite confusing at times, however in order to make the body count as high as it was there had to be enough characters to get rid of.  The chapters are short and punchy which kept up the pace and the suspense.

The big selling point for this book is without doubt the weird and wonderful ways the killer comes up with to murder his victims.  This book is definitely gruesome and not for the faint hearted, however if it were not for the such graphic descriptions of torture I feel this book would be more suited to a YA audience.  I can almost visualise Follow You being made into a box-office smash teen slasher movie.

I had high hopes for this one, especially when so many of my friends in the blogging community seemed to enjoy it so much, but ultimately I was left feeling rather underwhelmed.  That being said, I will have my eye on Richard Parker as although this one didn't hit the spot for me personally, he is showing great potential and seems able to channel his "Inner Psychopath".

If you like your thrillers fast and gory with a hint of an episode of Scooby-Doo then Follow You is perfect for you.  Thanks to Richard Parker, Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in return for an honest review.

As somebody who has often joined in with hashtag games on Twitter - albeit less macabre ones - I was immediately gripped by the premise of this book. Several deaths appear to be linked to the hashtag #BeMyKiller, are they connected or were different murderers inspired by the tragically prophetic words typed by the eventual victims, who just believed they were playing an online game? From the very start Follow You pulls no punches, this is a book for those who like their thrills to come with a high gore quota. I was immediately reminded of a slasher/stalker type horror film, the setting - the derelict and somewhat ironically named given the circumstances, Fun Central - and the cast of characters being slowly picked off could easily translate to the screen.
This is definitely not then a book for the nervous or weak-stomached. Deaths are numerous and gruesome and the tension factor is set to high almost throughout the book. I have a feeling that Richard Parker had a ball devising the various shocking ends the characters meet, each inspired by their own words. The not quite a sub-plot of a little girl who sees more than she should really had my heart in my mouth. It's unusual for a book to really chill me but Follow You actually gave me nightmares. Nevertheless I was hooked throughout and the bad dreams just made me want to read more, a book that affected me that way deserved my full attention! However, although undoubtedly a disturbing and tense read, Follow You also has excellent characterisation (unlike certain horror films, the women here are well rounded and far more than just wallpaper and/or victims) and a really clever plot that for all the gory deaths is actually also an intelligent social commentary.
I'm not going to discuss the plot too much here, Follow You needs to keep its secrets in order to inspire terror in its future readers. However, it kept me intrigued from start to finish and I was genuinely surprised by the reveal. I loved reading a book that really set my heart racing and my spine tingling, If you like your thrills on the visceral side and enjoy a witty, dark and surprising read then I highly recommend this book.
Many thanks to the publishers for my copy received through Netgalley in return for my honest review.

I will admit that I was persuaded by my sister to read Follow You…when I say persuaded I mean nagged. Well maybe nagged is a bit strong… but she did recommend I read it… often. Don’t get me wrong the majority of the books I read are down to her recommendations as she knows what I like. And with this one she was right on the money.
This book is not for the fainthearted as at times it is plain gory. From the first chapter you can see how it is going to go and despite not really being a fan of outright gore I couldn’t put it down. I have never really understood the need to hashtag everything and then watch as everyone follows it, and after reading this book I am not sure I would want to follow the crowd anyway. The characters in this book did just that and it did not end well for most of them.
The book follows Hazel a documentary maker returning to her home town to try to discover who is really behind a particularly gruesome murder. She has two motivations for this… the first being that she needs to produce something successful in order to stay in business… the second being that she used to be friends with the victim and feels that she needs to do this to bring her some justice. As only she knows this information her crew at times wonder why she is determined to continue as one by one they leave….or do they????
As each of the characters goes off on their own I found myself mentally shouting in my head “don’t do it” as you just know they would not be seen alive again. And this is where I started to wonder just how the author came up with the inventive ways to kill them off as some of them were just way out there. I also had to question my own sanity as on one occasion I actually found myself smiling at the method used as it was not what I was expecting. In fact after describing it to a friend they started to worry that they should possibly not get on my bad side…ever……
As with most books not all the characters were likeable and some I just plain hated, but even then I am not sure I would want them to meet the end that they did. Now I can’t really say much more about the book without giving away what happens but for me this is the best book ever and one of the best I have read so far this year. I am now looking forward to see what Richard Parker has in store for his readers next.

What was to be an online joke or dare, rapidly turns into a very deadly game!
A Twitter post #BeMyKiller asks people to go online and add their name to a list taunting an unknown killer to come after them as the next victim. An innocent joke, right? What right-minded person would take something like that seriously? Well, no one was laughing when folks who posted started dying in the most gruesome ways. The police having no clue who was behind the twitter post and the killings.
I have to give kudos to the author for the devious, inventive ways he concocted to perform the murders. Frightening! Quite the imagination Mr. Parker!
Hazel, a budding film maker and former friend of one of the victims is attempting to make a movie about the killings. Hoping to do what the police can't. Maybe draw the killer out in the open? Careful what you wish for! Now the whole movie shoot is at risk.
I have noticed a lot of people have shied away from this book referring to it as a horror. I actually delayed reading it for a few weeks until I knew my husband would be right next to me in case I was too scared to continue. Well honestly I did not find it scary, just incredibly gory at times. If you’re squeamish, this may not be the best choice for you. But if you’re looking for a very dark thriller, you won’t be disappointed!
My only negative was difficulty in keeping the large cast of characters straight. There was no focused backstory to make the reader clearly remember each character. I wish a little more time was spent on the characters themselves.
Very short chapters keeps the action rolling. Always wanting to read….just one more chapter!! Kept me guessing beginning to end!

May be found on Amazon under a new title of Follow You.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Richard Jay Parker

Its been a while since a really grizzly murder book caught my eye and this one certainly had me gripped by the throat! It's intense, intriguing and certainly descriptive!!
Hazel is investigating a spate of murders inspired by social media and what she uncovers is unreal. Loved it!

After seeing the stunning cover for this book I couldn't wait to read it. Be My Killer is actually the second book that I have read by the author. OMG does this man know how to write a dark and twisted story, I absolutely flipping loved it. This book is takes you to a whole new level of dark, in fact there are parts in this book that are warped and very disturbing that it could pass has a horror it's that gruesome. But like I always say the darker the better for me!

#BeMyKiller is an online spank that goes vital and triggers some warped murders. While making a documentary Hazel Salter watches in horror. But then Hazel’s childhood friend, Meredith Hickman, is the next victim and Hazel knows she has to find out what happened to her.. The police have no leads, but Hazel has a theory – one she’ll stop at nothing to prove – and she also has a film crew. She’ll make a documentary, catch the killer, and give Meredith justice.

Her stage is the abandoned amusement park where Meredith was found.

Her cast are the family and friends the killer left behind.

With her crew? They keep disappearing, one by one…

I devoured this in one sitting with an OMG prologue I just couldn't put it down. In fact I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. With parts that are so tense I was saying oh god because they actually made me squirm talk about nail biting. What an absolutely brilliant thriller. This story is so well written and fast-paced the author takes you on the roller coaster ride of your life.

It is a fast paced nail biting read which will make your toes curl. I actually found myself reading it with one eye open I cannot describe how tense this story is.

But it is a book not to be missed, what more can I say but fans of the film Saw will love it and I can't recommend giving it enough giving it 5 massive stars.

When the @BeMyKiller account goes viral, people all over the world start taunting the account, thinking it’s a joke. Not long after the account gains popularity, people who have tweeted to the account start dying in ways related to their taunts.

When her childhood friend Meredith becomes the latest victim, documentary filmmaker Hazel decides these murders would be the perfect story for her next film. She has a theory about the killer that’s different from the theory the police are working, and since they have no leads, she gathers a small film crew and heads to the abandoned amusement park in her hometown – the site of Meredith’s murder.

What she doesn’t realize is that the killer is closer than she realizes, and that this documentary might just put her life in danger…

Can I just say…WOW…I was so hooked on this book from the very first page and read it in two sittings! Be My Killer expertly crafted a thriller that was terrifying from all angles – a twisted and depraved killer, and a creepy abandoned amusement part – it doesn’t get better than that! The murders that took place in Be My Killer were some of the most gruesome I’ve read in as long as I can remember, and I loved it! As horrifying as they were, they were inventive and unique. I will say that Be My Killer is not for the faint of heart! If you didn’t like the gory descriptions in Pretty Girls by Karen Slaughter or couldn’t sit through the Saw movies for the same reason, this will not be the book for you, as there are a number of graphic murder scenes.

This book absolutely read like a horror movie, and is definitely something I’d go watch in theaters and be super scared by! Be My Killer was definitely a book that kept my attention to the very last page. The chapters were super short, which made it easy to fly through the book because I kept telling myself “just one more chapter!” and would find myself reading half of the book, instead. I’m a huge fan of short chapters that keep me wanting to turn the pages, and Be My Killer did that perfectly.

There were a lot of characters in the book, and while most of the chapters were told through Hazel’s point of view, there were some chapters that switched to the point of view of the murder victims, some of the crew members, and a young girl named April. I loved how they all tied together in the end.

This was definitely a win for me, and I’d recommend this one to fans of serial killer thrillers and psychological thrillers who don’t mind graphic descriptions of sadistic murders! A huge thank you to Richard Jay Parker, Bookouture, and NetGalley for a copy of the book. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review. Be My Killer is out now, so be sure to pick this one up! I can’t wait to see what else Richard Jay Parker writes – he’s got a new fan in me, and I’m definitely going to pick up his previous books!

This is one of those books I find hard to review out of fear I'll give anything away.

We've all heard stories about online pranks on twitter in the news. Sadly with some, there are fatalities. And that's exactly what this book touches upon, albeit even more disturbing, as this particular online prank triggers a spate of murders. One of the victims is Meredith, a childhood friend of Hazel's. Hazel is a documentary maker and decides to take her crew to the amusement park where Meredith died, to shoot a film and interview friends and family. She hopes to find out the truth. But then her crew members start disappearing.

This is very remniscent of the old slasher movies so if that's your thing, you're bound to enjoy this book. While those movies were not for me because the stupid got on my nerves, I did actually enjoy this book but I think that may have had more to do with the ingenuity in the murders. This author has one sick brain!

There are no likeable characters. Not one! What we do have is a host of brilliant, genius and absolutely gruesome murders. Some scenes I had to read twice, to wrap my head around them and then I cursed my vivid imagination as my stomach churned. And you know what? I totally loved it!

True to form for this genre, I couldn't figure out who the killer was but ended up suspecting everyone. Well, until I had to check them off my list because they started dropping like flies! I just felt a little disappointed with the conclusion. I can't quite put my finger on it but I was expecting something different.

However, I really enjoyed this one. All in all, it's a truly engrossing read with icky gore, that had me on the edge of my seat.

Beware of social media. Think before you type. You never know who's reading.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my advanced copy, which I chose to review.

When I started this book, I didn't know just how much I was going to (mostly) love it. It is along the lines of one of my favourite tropes: a group of isolated people are picked off one by one by an unseen killer; a classic whodunit. It is, however, much more gruesome than the average mystery. It reminded me a bit of Ragdoll - with its gory inventive murders - or the Scream films or the TV series Harper's Island.

The plot rattles along for the first four fifths of the book but I did find the final fifth to be a bit of an anti-climax. It was undeniably tense and would make a great film, but the amount of description required to show the dramatic action made it a bit complicated and some of the explanation came from way out of left field.

The characters were good, there were plenty of twists and turns and Richard Parker's tongue must have been firmly in his cheek when he wrote some of the murders! I do think this is a great book, but more even pacing might have made it five stars for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of Be My Killer.

Holy shit, this is what a call a thriller. To be honest, did it feel like a slasher horror movie in a book format. You know the one with a group of people travel to a remote place and get killed off one by one. It's an old and used format. But, it sure never gets boring. And, Richard Jay Parker has written a damn good book!

The idea for this book, people tweeting #BeMyKiller and how they wanna get killed and then they are killed is a fabulous modern kind of book plot. The BIG questions are; who is the killer? Or is it more than one killer and why is "he/they" killing off people? Also, how many in the documentary team will live?

Be My Killer is a great thriller, and if you're a thriller/horror fan will you love this book. I did think the end could have been a bit better, sure it was a bit of a surprise, but I part of me wanted a more shocking explanation. A truly WOW kind of ending. Yes, I know, I'm picky and hard to please. Other than that so did I find the book to be great, and there are some really, really awful gruesome killing scenes that even I found really disturbing.

One thing for sure, this is not the last book by Richard Jay Parker I'm going to read!

Btw I love the cover for the book, it's so gorgeous!
