There wasn't a ton of polishing ala My Fair Lady, but there was plenty of romance. Katherine and Brandon had quite the history, and everything came to fruition between their adventure to France and their visits to the ballrooms and drawing rooms of the ton.

Entertaining historical romance but I wanted a little more angst. The HEA came too easy for me especially after what Brandon put Kate through.

This was a good story about first loves and second chances. I recommend it to anyone looking for a book with a journey and a happy ending.

Lady Katherine Wilde has always loved Lord Brandon Deverill. But he rejected her y years previously so now she tries to hardened her heart from him when she decides to help enter society after coming back from America. Lady Katherine is known to be a matchmaker so she decides to find Deverill a wife but it becomes too hard when all those past feelings come back.

I used to devour every book that Nicole Jordan released. There is sensuality in her writing that I totally enjoy. It made me sad her writing style changed a bit and her stories where not as addicting. But I must say that what she has recently released is pretty good, and very much like the author that I so adored.

I like the sensuality that Kate and Brandon have. Their chemistry is pretty intense and their story line is very engaging.

Once upon a time she threw herself at Brandon and he pushed her away, deeply hurting her and embarrassing her. Not understanding that he was trying to protect her, the uncertainty of his future, made him come up with the decision of refusing her. Six years later he is back and now a seeking a wife. This time around Kate is ready and protects her heart, even while agreeing to help him look for a wife. Little does she know that he has already made up his mind to try to win her back. But it will not be easy, for this time around Kate is looking for love and this is something that Brandon is not able to guarantee.

I really enjoy the story of these two. The struggle that Kate went through, fighting how close they were growing the more time they spent with each other.
It is a solid, good read!

Great historical romance! Lady Kate has been asked to help find Brandon a wife. After he turned her advances down years ago see plans to help him do just that. But he has plans of his own, with Lady Kate. I really liked this read. The story has plenty of drama and the characters are great.

I really enjoyed the premise of this story. Katharine Wilde was asked by her aunt to help a rich, dashing American who recently inherited an English earldom learn how to be act, look like an English earl and find him a wife. There's just one problem. The new earl in question was the same man who rejected Kate 6 years ago.

The set up was quite intriguing and it's right up my alley. I was expecting angst because when you have a heroine coming to face-to-face with the man of her dreams after a humiliating rejection years ago is bound to be angsty, right? Well, except for a few confronting words here and there, there wasn't much in terms of angst. But it was still interesting to see how Kate would handle finding a wife for the man that she wants for herself.

For the first half of the story, it was indeed an interesting read. I love their banter and I loved Kate. Deverill had the makings of being an unforgettable hero. Unfortunately, the second half lost me as a reader. I was looking forward to Deverill wooing Kate and making up for his mistakes years ago. But the story took on an almost adventure quest type complete with sea journey and some unsavory pirate character and lost family treasure. Which is fine. I love adventure tales but I wasn't really invested in it. I didn't really add anything to the romance or their character development. And the ending was underwhelming and anticlimactic.

I wish I liked it more but it is what it is.

Six years ago Lady Katherine Wilde was in love with Brandon Deverill and attempted to seduce him. At the time he was about to leave to fight in a war against the British, so Deverill chose to do the honorable thing and turn her away. Now there’s peace between their countries and Deverill has inherited a title, which means he needs a suitable wife. Who better to find him a wife than consummate matchmaker Kate Wilde? Kate agrees to his plan in exchange for Deverill taking her to France and helping her search for what’s left of the ship her parents died on. She will model Deverill into the ideal English gentleman and introduce him to the perfect candidates for matrimony. What she doesn’t know is that he has no plans to mold himself into the perfect husband for some strange woman – he fully plans on seducing and wedding Kate. All he needs to do is convince her to give him a second chance and they could have a love that is truly legendary.

The ultimate matchmaker finally meets her match in My Fair Lover. Though this fifth book in Nicole Jordan’s Legendary Lovers series gives a few nods to the story of Pygmalion, Kate and Deverill’s story is more of a second chance romance than a twist on a literary legend. As I happen to be a sucker for a good second chance romance, I didn’t really mind this, particularly since My Fair Lover started out with such promise.

Deverill and Kate have fantastic chemistry at the start of the book. She is determined to be proper and not to let him seduce her, while he is equally determined to tempt her, challenge her, and ultimately win her back. Their back-and-forth was charming and the dialogue was flirty and fun. But once things started to get steamy between Kate and Deverill, the book, well, lost its steam. The obstacles in the way of their happily ever after – both internal and external – felt a bit forced as it was clear the two were meant to be together, wanted to be together, and the reasons they weren’t were fairly thin. The snappy connection that characterized Kate and Deverill’s relationship in the beginning gave way to sensual scenes that were entertaining but not as original or fun. In addition, the storyline involving Kate’s search for her parents’ sunken ship, a pirate with a grudge against Deverill, and the pirate’s lovelorn mistress just fell flat. Perhaps a shorter format would have served the characters better, but as it stands Kate and Deverill were delightful together and I was rooting for them to get their happily ever after. So while My Fair Lover had its ups and downs for me, I did finish the story a satisfied reader.

He could teach her about passion, but she would teach him to love.

Brandon did the honorable thing six years ago and turned down Kate. Although he had always been drawn to the outspoken and witty girl, the war and his family called him back to America. But now he’s back, having recently inherited an English barony. He’s back to stay and ready to settle down. For years, his memories of Kate lingered and although he doesn’t believe in love, Brandon is determined to find out if what he felt for Kate is still as strong as he remembers.

All he has to do is get close to a wary Kate, earn her trust and convince her that even without love, they can still be good together.

Kate grew up with tales of her parents grand love affair and after seeing her family and friends fall love and start new lives and grew their own families, she finds it easy enough to hold out for her own one true love. Six years ago she thought she’d found it with Brandon. He had seen more than just a pretty face and her social connections, but the sting of his rejection still has the power to make her feel edgy and restless. She agrees to help Brandon conform to his new social standing and find him an appropriate wife but also to prove to herself once and for all that she’s over him.

But things don’t go exactly according to plan...

It’s not long before Kate realizes she’s not ready to throw in the towel if it means giving up on the love of her life and Brandon learns that if anyone can teach him to love, it’s Kate.

What I liked:
This was such a sweet 2nd chance romance that had very little angst, no unnecessary drama and two MCs who genuinely cared and respected each other. There was no hurtful accusations or manipulations. It was two adults who cared enough about each other to talk and communicate and open themselves up to love.

It was a super easy romantic read that left a smile on my face :)

What I didn't like:
I felt the side story between a secondary character, Louvel and his mistress turned fiancé was kind of a downer. Granted Kate plays matchmaker to get them together but I didn’t understand why? Why would you want to help such a dishonorable person get the girl? Honestly, I could have done without that little detour but overall, it didn’t affect my love for the main romance/characters.

Favorite Line(s):
”Love is kind and generous and unselfish and self-sacrificing, powerful and wholly consuming. It makes you feel complete and fulfilled . . . Put another way, you can’t imagine living your life without the other.”

Memorable Moments:
Nicole Jordan has always written really sensual and heated love scenes and My Fair Lover is no exception!

Lady Katharine is a matchmaker she has found a love match for friends and family but never for herself, her heart although bruised and heartbroken belongs to one man - Brandon Deverill Baron Valmere.
Even though his rejection six years ago still hurts knowing she wasn't enough to keep him from leaving to fight in the war between America and her country.
Now he has returned with a title and in search for a wife, offering her services to find him a wife in return to help her find her mothers resting place and give her a proper burial. At the risk of her heart.

Brandon has always loved Katharine but couldn't act upon his feelings knowing that he might perish in the war now he's back and he means to have her for his wife, knowing that he has his work cut out for him wooing Katherine is no easy task not after his rejection.

Wonderfully written story will keep you engaged from the first page. Lively and witty banter between the Katharine and Brandon. It has everything you want in a good book, action packed drama humour and suspense with just the right amount of sizzle and spice.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest unbiased opinion.

I really enjoyed MY FAIR LOVER. Kate and Deverill make a wonderful couple, even if he's reluctant. This has been a fun series, and I look forward to more from this author. I liked the adventure; I'm always a sucker for romance novels with sailing. I did think the conflict at the end happened too quick, but I don't feel it detracted from the story.

3.5 Stars
This historical romance is part of a series, but can be easily read as a stand-alone. This novel was the first I've read by the author and, although it was labeled as a retelling that didn't really really retell My Fair Lady, it was still a good romance. Both MCs are likeable and dynamic, I loved that the female character was a matchmaker. The story has two parts: one on land and the other at sea, which I enjoyed. I would have liked to see more similarities with the retelling, but overall a fun book. For historical romance fans.

Well, this was a exciting read for me. The author has out done herself on this one. I totally loved the story line which held my interest. The characters were well developed with thoughts and feelings of their own. Legendary Lovers #5 is the continuation of a series which can be read as a stand alone.
Lady Katherine Wilde is one smart lady who loves her family and is a sort of matchmaker. She has done a pretty good job so far, but things are going to get complicated when a man from her past appears. The one man who broke her heart before heading off to war. Now the war is over, Brandon Deverill the American sailor has finally come back to England to take an English title. He has grown up to be a man he was meant to be. He's also one hunk who is very handsome. Whew!!
Kate has no concern what Brandon does in his life. He no longer a part of her sphere, but her Aunt asks Kate to help him learn proper etiquette in the social scheme of things. Kate agrees, but when she meets Brandon, the old flame still burns in her life. How does he do it to her after all this time? Brandon once spurned her, because he was going off to fight and might not come back. Now that he is back, his life seems empty without the one woman he could never forget.
Kate and Brandon has many adventures in sailing the seas, looking for treasure and learning to trust again. These two were made for each other. It just takes a bit of time and close encounters to make both of them see they can't live without each other.
Oh, there is so much in this book, I hated it to end. The love of Kate and Brandon is legendary, and makes for a happy ever after.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.

My Fair Lover is book five in Nicole Jordan's Legendary Lovers series. It's fine to read as a stand alone, I haven't read any of the others and I was able to follow just fine. It was quite amusing to find out the matchmaker in the other book is the main character in this book. Normally I love Pygmalion/ My Fair Lady type tropes but this one fell flat a little for me. Brandon kept annoying me throughout the whole book, I kept wanting to scream at him that he does love her, what he's feeling is love; the big dolt. Kate was nice but there wasn't anything really to make her stand out other than being the matchmaker. the ending did have a bit of excitement that I did enjoy but the romance was just okay.

Brandon Deverill just inherited a title, a family friend suggested he talk to Lady Katherine Wilde and get some refinement and have her find him an appropriate wife. Brandon has already decided to marry Kate, if he can get her to forgive him for spurning her six years ago. Brandon doesn't believe in love but Kate won't marry without it. Brandon makes a deal with Kate that she helps him find a wife and he'll help her find the sunken boat off the coast of France that killed parents. But while she's trying to find him a match he's working to figure out a way to get her to agree to marry him.

Overall, aside from Brandon being kind of annoying to me the rest of the characters were entertaining. I just wish the romance and the chemistry between Brandon and Kate was more.

Lady Katherine Wilde believes she has overcome any romantic feelings toward Brandon Deverill, who rejected her six years ago. Now that the rogue needs polishing to claim his title and inheritance, she’s willing to strike a practical bargain: Kate will mold the brash privateer into an acceptable English nobleman if Deverill will safeguard her from brigands on a voyage to recover lost family treasure.

Brandon had often thought of the day he turned Kate away from his bed all those years ago. Even a rake such as he couldn’t seduce an innocent beauty before sailing into battle. But now that he’s inherited a title and must take a suitable bride, it is Kate he sets his sights on. Brandon never grew up in a home with love and the notion of love was something he’d never before experienced. However, Brandon soon realizes he’d gladly trade his life to save a woman who has captured his heart.

*** Nicole Jordan and her ongoing series of Legendary Lovers has been both a success for her and brought extreme enjoyment to me. While I appreciated the banter and the seductions I did feel something missing and that would be just a bit of suspense with something more to overcome than just Brandon not realizing his feelings for Kate as love.

The contretemps with the pirate Louvel was and should have been expanded to a much higher level rather than the small tiff it seemed to represent. Other than that the seduction was sublime and and sensuality irresistible.

A good story of My Fair Lady(I mean Gentleman) Lady Katherine will tutor Brandon to refinement if he will protect her on her quest... He turned her away six years ago but now he needs a wife and will the attraction turn to love as they face danger together?

Nicole Jordan doesn't disappoint in My Fair Lover. Although 5th in Jordan's Legendary Lovers series, My Fair Lover can easily be read as a standalone. Not having read any of the previous books in the series, aside from not knowing in-depth details behind some of the characters who made appearances, I didn't feel I was missing out on anything.

Having recently been reading mostly contemporary romances, I've found historicals to be a bit lacking in the "heat" department. Not so with this story. In My Fair Lover, Jordan does an excellent job bridging the gap between a well-written regency and a sensual (hot!) romance.

Somewhat of a second-chance romance, the H and h are reunited after 6 years of separation when the H returns to England after inheriting a barony. The relationship between the two is witty and steamy and doesn't feel rushed or stilted.

I definitely plan on checking out the other titles in the series.

'My Fair Lover' by Nicole Jordan is Book Five in The "Legendary Lovers" series. This is the story of Lady Katherine Wilde and Brandon Deverill. I have read the other books in this series but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Brandon is half American and half English and went to fight for the American side a few years back,in addition he was a pirate. But now his Uncle has died and left him an English Title and Brandon has come back to English to claim it along with finding a wife.
Kate and Brandon knew each other years ago when they were young. Kate even had a crush on him and before he left she offered herself to him. Brandon turned her down and Kate left hurt with her feelings crushed. Now about six years later Brandon has returned and at the request of her Aunt Lady Isabella Wilde 'Bella" she is to turn Brandon into a proper English Gentleman. In addition, Kate is to use her proven Match Making skills on Brandon to find him a wife. But Kate has a request of Brandon too. Kate's parents died in a ship wreck where she was saved with her siblings. Kate wants to go back to look at the wreck, possible find any jewelry that was left and place a headstone on her mother's grave.
But Brandon has Kate in mind for his wife but he knows after the hurt he caused he will have to go slowly winning her over. Also Kate says she will on marry for Love...can Brandon find such a feeling in his heart?

My Fair Lover by Nicole Jordan is a pygmalion story in reverse. Lady Katherine Wilde is a beautiful lady of the ton. She has found her way through all the pitfalls available, but not yet found love. Brandon Deverill has come into a title, but being an American, he needed some tutoring before he began his new role. Katherine takes on the task in trade for Brandon helping her find the wreck of a ship that took her parents’ life. However, Katherine and Brandon know each other from 6 years prior. Katherine had a wicked crush on him and offered him her if he would just stay. Obviously, it failed and Katherine was crushed and determined not to let a man decide her fate again! Brandon had other plans including capturing Katherine as his wife, but no need to love her!

My Fair Lover by Nicole Jordan was a good story. I thought Katherine and Brandon were good together and I enjoyed their relationship. The book was a fun read.

Lady Katherine Wilde is the family matchmaker, but for herself she has failed. Six years ago she set out to seduce Brandon Deverill and he spurned her to save her reputation then simply walked away. Now six years later he’s come back into her life asking her to help him find a wife and navigate London society with his new title. Brandon's fortitude was sorely tested when he turned Kate away from his bed all those years ago, but now it’s even more tested as he set his resolve to marry Kate. Now he just needs to convince her to marry him without their marriage being a love match. Kate is determined to have it all especially a marriage based on love, but for Brandon true love is a notion that baffles him that is until he realizes he’ll gladly give his life to save the one woman he’s come to love Kate. Theirs is a true adventure of seduction, mystery, pirates and a soaring passion that neither one can no longer deny. A great adventure I loved this story!!!
