First, the pictures are beautiful, making your mouth water with anticipation. Some interesting recipes from the traditional to some that I hadn’t heard of such as the cinnamon roll pie.
The only think I didn't like was the measurement being in cups rather than grams.

I've finally managed to make a pie that tasted like a proper pie. The recipes are easy to follow and there are some nice tips included.

Linda Lomelino brings her wonderful pie recipes to a new cookbook. Beautiful photography and great information including making pie dough. Recipes such as Nut and Caramel Pie and my favorite the S'more's Pie. Wonderful cookbook for anyone's cookbook library, including mine.

Before I even started reading, I had decided I didn't need another pie cookbook. I mean, how many new filling combinations and crust recipes can there be? As I read the last page... I was scheming how soon I could buy a copy. This is a wonderful book, beautiful to look at, well-written, and yes, there are new pies to make. It is sophisticated and just feels special. A celebration, as the title promises, is exactly right!

This book is great, and I can't wait to buy a copy for my sister. Pie making is an art, but with the right tools, anyone can make pies. The beginning highlights important facts about pie. What kind of butter and flour works best. The different fillings that you can put in your pie and the amazing latus work that can be done. The comes the easy to follow recipes with great pictures included. I just love this book.

It's rare to find a cookbook where every recipe is one I want to try. Okay...that's never happened. Until now. Every single recipe appealed to me. I'm willing to try all of them. And the pictures... Just don't look at this book when you're hungry or you'll end up with a kitchen full of pies.
Baking can be a daunting task, especially for the inexperienced. This book walks step by step through making beautiful looking pies of all kinds. Even pie pops. Those are on my list to make first. If the pies in this book taste as good as the photographs look, this will be a cookbook to go to over and over again for years to come.

My review: The photographs in this book, and its accompanying book trailer, are like pie porn. You feel like you could almost reach out and touch the whipped cream, berries, and crumbly pastry. As for the recipes, well, the ideas here are mind-boggling, from combining chocolate with blackberries, to making a fig and mascarpone pizza. Whoever would have thought you could squash cinnamon rolls together to make a pie crust? Or put mini pies on sticks to make pie pops? I've bookmarked several recipes to try, and am sure to come back to them again and again. I'll also be looking out for other books by this author. Just yum!

This is a really beautiful cookbook, filled with recipes and photos of pies that look absolutely delicious! It is divided up into sections for one crust pies, double crusts, crumble top pies, etc and all have easy to follow steps. This will be a nice addition to the library collection!

I am in love with this book! I received an advanced copy of Lomelino's Pies to review for Net Galley and after reading through it, I had to try some of the recipes. I should mention that while I love eating pie and baking in general, I've not had the best experience with baking pies. First I tried making the Chocolate Pie. That was a hit with the family and it was easy to make.

Next, I tried making the Apple Pie (I know, I baked two pies in 2 days!). One word: Yum.

Lomelino's Pies is a beautiful to look at. The pictures are mouth watering and inspiring (like I said, I was drawn to bake 2 pies). I love the chapter called Pie School. There's enough technical instruction to make it attainable for a novice baker; however, it's not overkill for the more experienced. In fact, there are some rather fancy suggestions for ornamental pies accents.

This collection includes recipes for all the classics (apple pie, lemon meringue, chocolate pie, etc) and more interesting combinations like a Galette with Apricot, Blackberry, and Thyme. There are recipes for double crust pies, single crust pies, crumbles, tarts, and even Pie Lollies.

This book is a winner!

One of the best things about this book and which got my attention right away were the pictures. The pictures are really great and personally that is one of the first things I look at when I am buying cooking books. I take a chance on the recipes but I do that with all the cooking books I buy. So, the presentation of the book is great; it is definitely one of those books you want to have on your counter top. Now, once you open the book and take a look at the recipes, you’ll find some originality there as well. I loved the Crumble-Topped Pies chapter because the recipes are easy enough to try out even during a busy weekday.

A beautifully presented baking book that delivers excellent photo instructions for preparing pies. The recipes aren't particularly earth-shaking, but the overall presentation makes this an excellent gift for nervous or especially aesthetic pie-makers.

So many delicious-sounding pies! Blueberry pie with buttermilk and lemon? Plum pie with pistachios, rum and vanilla? A pie with a crust that's made out of cinnamon rolls?!? Why am I not eating that right now? Red currant pie with white chocolate, creme brulee pie with vanilla and citrus, peanut butter chocolate pie...definitely not all diet pies, but all sound amazing and I need them right now. The ingredients aren't overly complicated, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow and seriously I need one of these pies right now.

This has quickly become my new pie bible. Lomelino has created a textual pie school that is a complete resource for everything one would ever need to know about how to make scrumptious pies. The pies and crusts are all so originally flavored and unique works of art you will find yourself like I did in a particular dilemma. So be warned. You will stand there and debate with yourself whether you want to eat it or showcase it- though once you get a whiff of say the Cinnamon Roll Pie with Apples you will be snapping a picture before digging in.

Amazing pies! I'm not very good at making the crusts and am hoping this book will help. It has a variety of crust recipes to try. maybe one will work for me! Besides, that, there are so many recipes for pie fillings! The blueberry lemon one sounds so yummy I might make it for the 4th! And the photos of the pies! They looked like works of art with their beautiful decorations! This book is on my buy list.
I received a free copy of Lomelino's Pies from the publisher in exchange for a fair review.

I've come to realize I just can't make pies. While I'm not a fan of baking, I can throw together some decent cookies, however pies have always eluded me. Every once in a great while, I'll come across a cookbook that tempts me into trying my hand at pies again, and "Lomelino's Pies" did it for me. Full of beautiful, mouth-watering photos, creative recipes and gorgeous pie decorations, I never how big the world of pies really is (drool...."Cinnamon Roll Pie With Apples", PIE POPS! WHAT?!). I still can't make pies as well as the recipes, but this book has made me determined to at least master ONE recipe -- I just can't chose which one.

An elegant paean to pies. Linda Lomelino writes with verve, enthusiasm, and authority about her subject. In a chapter called “Pie School,” she offers plenty of tips on all aspects of the pie-making process—focusing on how simple techniques and ingredients can yield spectacular results. The book is sensibly organized with recipes presented on a single page—a plus for the cook with floured hands. Color photos are gorgeous and artfully presented. Pies are featured in settings that evoke Dutch still-life paintings—a bit abstract and highly stylized—but in keeping with, and appropriate to, the high tone of the book. Familiar favorites like Banana Cream Pie and Coconut Cream Pie are included, as are more unusual offerings like Red Currant Pie with Meringue Topping. This would be a great gift for the stylish pie baker in your life.

Fantastic! Great recipes, nice approach and some new ideas. Beautifully laid-out book and enticing photographs. I couldn't make it through the first browse without wanting to get to the kitchen TO BAKE! (and I don't even love pies).
I'm really happy that this book will be out in the world!!
