Very interesting insights about people who have spent such a long time in prison and the changes they have seen

A very interesting book. The author was a teacher in the Kentucky correctional system. She worked with inmates to get their education. This book includes interviews from some of the inmates (in their own words). I think this book shows great insight into the correctional system and the inmates on a personal level. I really liked it and recommend it to anyone interested in the criminal justice system.

This is a book that all should read. Not only does it give you insight on the effect person has on inmates, it also allows you to "step" into prison life. The men who allowed the author to correspond and include their words in this book, I thank you. The book is well crafted and the questions at the end of each chapter gives one something to think. I am glad to have read this book. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book in return for my honest review.

While it was interesting, it got very monotonous after a bit. You can tell author was very knowledgable about the subject, it just was a bit much.
