I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This second chance love story between the mean girl/cheerleader/prom queen and the high school football hero had some quality moments, but at times it felt uneven and I never quite connected with the characters.

Following high school graduation Jake Davis was headed to college on a football scholarship with aspirations of a pro career when a car wreck left him injured and losing it all, Jessica Jackson wanted more than the small town life she saw after Jake’s accident and she left the town and him in the dust. Ten years later, Jessica’s “big life” isn’t so big and so her friend set her up with an escort for her 10 year reunion, imagine her surprise when the escort turns out to be the guy she left behind.

The premise of this story was great, and while I understood they had years together I felt their coming back together was a bit too easy. Jessica claimed years of therapy, but at times I wondered why she bothered because she still seemed to be a bit miserable and still took out her misplaced anger towards her mother on other people. While Jake was a very likeable character, I felt he was a bit of a pushover and often let Jessica get away with bad behavior. I would have appreciated seeing more of a change in her behavior or at least her realize that her actions were very similar to her mother’s actions which she despised. I really loved the times they spent together getting to know each other as adults, but there weren’t enough of those moments. While the ending was sweet, it left too many things up in the air giving the book an incomplete feel.

Prom Queen was the best of this multi-author series. Katee Robert gives readers what they loves best about her writing. Great characters, good plot and the HEA that I love.

Prom Queen is a second chance romance, that was exactly why I wanted to read it. The prom queen doesn’t have the dream life she wanted so when it’s time for her high school reunion she lets her friends set her up with a fake date and of course it turns out that she used to know her fake date very, very well, because Jake was her prom king.
Honestly, even though the story flows well the book felt rushed and most of the characters acted a lot like they were still 18, at times it felt like it was prom and not the 10 year reunion. I didn’t really connect with Jessica, sometimes she didn’t seem like a reformed mean girl since there were a few typical mean girl nasty comments at the reunion and Jake… well, he’s funny but he also came off a little dull. I don’t know maybe I wasn’t exactly in the mood to read this book and that’s the reason I didn’t felt interested in this story. It just felt bland
Anyway, this is a long overdue review, I had this post on my drafts since 2017 because I read this book then and I’m actually trying to post reviews that I had mostly prepared however I never posted because something else came up and I totally forgot about it. I still have some other long overdue reviews on my drafts so I might try to post them too.

Prom Queen is that story that originally you just dislike the heroine and feel for the hero but Katee Roberts turned an unlikeable character likeable in the end. Jessie was the typically prom queen, bitchy, mean, a bully, cheerleader, dating the quarterback. But when life throws Jakes life off course and Jessie leaves for bigger and better things. Unfortunately for her, life had other ideas too so when their 10-year high school reunion comes Jessie needs a date because her life isn’t all that fabulous. Jessie didn’t count on Jake owning an escort agency and being her date for the festivities. Jake is hoping for a little pay back to go along with his paycheck but not long after being in Jessie’s presents he sees the girl he loved that no one ever saw. I enjoyed the progression of the storyline, the dialogue, and the character growth. I would recommend this book and give it 4 stars.

4 unexpected stars

Ever since i discovered Katee Robert almost a year ago (or maybe a little longer than that(, i was an instant fan of hers. I've read some of her contemporary romances, romantic suspenses and even suspenses and not one is similar to the other, each story more captivating than the previous one. Prom Queen is part of a series where one author takes one couple and tells their story. While none of the authors have a similar writing style, the Bad Boy Homecoming books all meshed together in such a way that they work.

4.5 sexy dreams

In Prom Queen, we meet Jake and Jessica - and as the title mentions, Jessica was the prom queen and Jake the upcoming and promising football player. When it comes to injuries, i'm no stranger to it and i completely understood what Jake was going through and made me connect with these two characters in ways i hadn't thought possible. It was a quick read that warmed my heart and made me want to read more from not only this author, but also the series! I simply can't wait!

Katee Robert is an emotional master at storytelling. One again she pulls you into the heart break, heartache, and love of two who were meant to be together.

Who says that you can't go home again? In the case of former mean girl and prom queen Jessica Jackson, returning to her home in Texas means facing the music in a big way. Going back to Catfish Creek for her high school reunion in order to mend some fences and show her former classmates how much she's changed is what Jessica needs to do to move on with her life. She's also determined to show them that she's doing just fine, thank you very much, and with the help of Diamond Dates, she'll be able to do just that.

Jake Davis was the golden boy in high school. MVP, destined for the pros, prom queen on his arm...but it all went up in flames, and Jake was left with none of the above. But you can't keep a good man down, and Jake has made a successful life for himself as the head honcho at Diamond Dates. When a request for an escort to his very own high school reunion comes from one Jessica Jackson, there's no way that Jake is letting it slip through his fingers. Because he and Jessie have some unfinished business...

Katee Robert hasn't written a book that I don't truly enjoy. Her reads are full of pop and sizzle, and satisfy at every level. PROM QUEEN, part of the Bad Boy Homecoming series, is a short and not-so-sweet trip down memory lane. The chemistry between Jake and Jessica is still as strong as ever, and while Jessie would be happy to overlook their spark, Jake is having none of it. He's bound and determined to rekindle the flame, and to help Jessie see that bygones can indeed be bygones, and help her see the good in herself.

For being a shorter read, PROM QUEEN manages to titillate and gratify quite nicely. There is plenty of heat, but there is also a nice rounding out of characters, and resolution at every turn. All of this makes PROM QUEEN an easy 4.5-star read for me, and one that lovers of Katee and of romance should definitely add to their TBR.

A hot, sexy, emotional second chance romance that will capture you from the first page.

With Jessica and Jake I felt their connection instantly. From their reunion I was constantly fanning my face while reading, trust me, things got mighty hot!! Those two together = lust, passion, sexy and any other word you can think of.

This is my first story by Katee Robert and it definitely won't be the last.

Yes, I recommend reading this book if you love spicy second chance romances, it'll get the heart pumping that's for sure.

This was such a great connection of books, using the ten year reunion to showcase the stories. I felt that the tension between Jessica and Jake was a living thing. It was what I enjoyed most about this book. I recommend this book every chance I get.

I read this entire series while on vacation last week in Florida. It was the PERFECT pick for my vacation! The stories weren’t overly short or long. They were just perfect! I don’t have a favorite, so don’t ask me LOL they were all really fantastic in their own right!

If you’re as old as I am, you may have experienced a few HS reunions yourself and maybe, like me, you may not have wanted to re-visit those days for whatever reason, but a whooooooooooole lot can change in a decade, both good and bad, and in the end, you might just end up re-connecting with people you never thought in a million years you would 🙂 IMO, that’s what this series was all about. Each author took two people in the same world and brought them back together ….

In Prom Queen by Katee Robert , Jake and Jessica get a second chance to get it right 🙂 I have to say that bringing together the prom queen and quarterback, both with lives very much NOT what they thought they would be 10 years ago is genius. Both Jake and Jessica had very different paths mapped out for themselves 10 years ago … but the Universe was having none of that 😉 I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these two come back together. Their re-connection was full of heart and very sexy.

This entire series has turned into a really great reading experience for me. Not a single story has missed its mark!

Katee Robert has done it again. Prom Queen was honestly full of surprises and some amazingness in a whole heck of a lot of ways.

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl of all mean girls when she was in high school. She was beautiful and cruel to almost everyone. She also had the perfect boyfriend in Jake Davis. Jake Davis was the hottest guy in school who also played football until he was injured and Jessica left him in the dust. Now ten years later Jessica is trying to do everything she can to be a better person, but also doesn’t want to show up to her high school reunion alone. So her friends hire a date for her. Unbeknownst to Jessica, Jake owns the dating company and to get back at Jessica for leaving him in the dust takes her as his date.

I really enjoyed this story a whole bunch. Jessica tries so hard to be a person she’s proud of being and feels badly about being rude to people before. I also enjoyed her struggle with her parents, especially her mom. I really related since I feel like for me it doesn’t matter how old I am, I’ll always care about what my mom thinks of me.

Jake was an interesting character too. He lost everything and then ended up doing something he loves. He dealt with a lot of anger after Jessica left him. He’s super sweet

I felt like Prom Queen was super cute, and super sexy. I enjoyed Jake and Jessica. I liked the struggle Jessica had with her mom and with trying to always be better. I have to say I liked how Jake realized the person he had hated for 10 years wasn’t the same person as before. I think that happens a lot in school where you see someone and expect them to be the same when they have grown and aged.

I am hoping to read these about these characters again one day.

Jessie has her 10 year high school reunion coming up. She's not married, or dating anyone and she was a bully in high school. So to at least give her a leg up, her friend hires a date for her to bring and pretend he's her boyfriend. Imagine her surprise when her high school ex is her hired date.

Jake sees Jessie's application for a date and decides he needs to get reacquainted with his ex. Plus find out why she's applying for a date rather than bringing a boyfriend or husband to their reunion.

Add in Jessie's helicopter mom constantly critiquing her and Jessie seeing all these people whose lives she made hell. And then her ex is her date.

A good story about a second chance romance.

I have chosen to DNF this title. I usually like Katee Robert, and I was excited about the high school reunion idea, but there was something about this one that did not work for me. I did not believe there was a connection between the main characters and definitely not one that would compel them to be anything other than people who see one another at their high school reunion (and maybe get together for the weekend) and then go their separate ways again.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review the title.

Prom Queen is a second chance romance between high school sweethearts, Jake and Jessica. It's a fun, sexy and fast paced read that fans of Katee Roberts will adore.

Jake and Jessica had their future all planned out but fate had other ideas for them. Jake's tragedy provokes a painful breakup to occur between them as well as long lasting hurt feelings.  However, neither one truly moves past this one relationship.

Ten years later, fate via a class reunion brings them back together.

As soon as they're in the same room again, they share an incredible sexual chemistry and connection.  You're almost over-whelmed by it as a reader.  But neither one is sure they can move forward together, and it's quite the journey to get their happily ever after.  One which I thing readers will enjoy.

I was new to the Bad Boys Homecoming series but Katee Robert is an automatic one-click author for me so I was excited to read her new book, Prom Queen. It definitely didn't disappoint and I recommend you check it out.

Prom Queen almost makes me wish I'd gone to my ten-year reunion.

But just almost. Let's not get crazy here...after all, there was no Jake at my high school. Plenty of Karlys and Leahs, but no Jakes. But I digress...

Katee Robert has given us a fun, fast, and sexy second chance romance in the 3rd installment of the Bad Boy Homecoming series. It worked just fine as a standalone, though Jessica's brother Drew is part of a bit of a scene in this one, which immediately made me go look for his book ( Trouble Trouble , which I will be reading soon) and of course the classmate that Jake meets in a bar at one point has his own book too (Travis in Rock Star )...so, yeah. They're standalones cleverly written to make you want to read all of them.

I see what they did there.

But if they're all like this one--fun, flirty second chance romances--I can't say I really mind all that much. Prom Queen was a great way to start off my summer reading!

Rating: 4 stars / B+

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Well, well, well, what a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed Prom Queen! And just to let everyone know, this is the first Katee Robert book that I have read and this won’t be my last.

Since this is New Adult, the steam level is hotter, which I absolutely love. Prom Queen is also a second-chance romance, which is one of my favorite tropes! This was another refreshing read for me because it features a mean girl! Well, an ex-mean girl.

We meet Jessica, years after high school and she has eaten her humble pie. She is not a famous actress like she wanted to be and she needs a date for her high school reunion. She enlists a dating service to have someone pretend to be her boyfriend. And who ends up being her date? Well, her ex-boyfriend Jake who she dumped after graduation.
As you know, I love a good second-chance romance and this one did not disappoint. I liked that they sort of continued where they left off in high school, because man, they had chemistry from the day we meet them on the page!

Obviously, they hadn’t gotten over each other and there was a lot of unfinished business between them. I wasn’t surprised about the quick way they hooked up.

Prom Queen is a novella and read like a novella. It is a little longer than a usual novella, though, which I appreciated.

The only beef I have with this is that it is supposed to be an erotic romance, but it lacked the steam of a true erotic romance.

Prom Queen by Katee Robert
Book Three of the Bad Boy Homecoming series
Publication Date: June 27, 2017
Rating: 4 stars

Official Summary:

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from NYT Bestselling Author Katee Robert.

Jake Davis had it all in high school—a scholarship to his college of choice, a promising football career, and the gorgeous prom queen for a girlfriend. And then he lost it all when he was injured right after graduation. Ten years later, he’s mostly made his peace with that, and now runs a company that provides women with dates for special events. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. She can’t go back to her home town and admit just how thoroughly she’s failed, so she lets her friends set her up with a fake date for the reunion.

The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Against her better judgment she lets herself get drawn into Jake’s arms again—and into his bed. But time doesn’t heal all wounds—sometimes, it actually makes them worse—and if Jessica and Jake can’t learn to forgive each other, their second chance might not last the weekend.

What I Liked:

At first glance, this doesn't look like a book for me. I typically don't read or like second-chance romances, though this year I have read more second-chance romance novels than I think I ever have, in my life. Second-chance romances are usually really angst-ridden and filled with hurt, so I like to avoid them. But I adore Katee Robert - she is one of my favorite adult romance authors - so I knew I would be reading this book, regardless of the romance trope. I ended up enjoying the book!

The story starts with Jessie's roommates talking her into going to her ten-year high school reunion. They know she doesn't want to go alone, due to how terrible of a person she was back in high school, so they "buy" her a date who will be by her side but won't be doing anything else. What Jessie doesn't know is that her ex-boyfriend, Jake Davis, is the creator and owner of that company. When Jake sees Jessie's application, he decides to be the one to be Jessie's date. She doesn't know he is the owner, and she is very surprised to see him waiting for her at the airport. With a day left before the reunion, the pair decides to go through with the arrangement, especially since Jessie will need all the help she can get at the reunion. But the chemistry between them hasn't diminished in the ten years they've been broken up, and they'll have to decide if this reunion weekend is enough.

I'll start with Jake because he is the best part of this book! He was a football star in high school, but a car crash left him injured in the shoulder and so he didn't get drafted or play ball in college. And Jessie dumped him right after his injury (because she was superficial and scared like that, back then). Jake is really sweet and understanding to Jessie, even though she really doesn't deserve it. Ten years is a long time to let things go and stomach the bitterness, and even though Jake is still angry and hurt over what happened, he forgave Jessie. Jake is a good guy, and a great human being. I would make sure never to have an ex like him, because he is worth keeping. A good guy, you know?

Jessie, on the other hand, was a terrible person in high school. She says she was worse than Regina George, and Regina was a horrible person. Usually I would hate heroines like Jessie, but it's clear that after ten years, Jessie isn't the same brat/b***h she was. I wanted to hate her, and I wanted to see her suffer more (especially after how she broke up with Jake when they were teens), but I also felt bad for her, and felt for her, in general. She has a Tragic Backstory, and it's no excuse for how she treated people, but I understood her, if nothing else. Also, I would have hated past Jessie, but I would get along with present Jessie.

The tension and chemistry in this book is seriously scorching! Jake and Jessie never lost their spark, even though ten years passed. This book is relatively short but there are several very hot and very well-written sexy times. I love how creative Robert is with these scenes - I feel like it'd be easy to fall into a repetitive pattern, when you write so many romance novels, but Robert never falls in this trap. And her books' sex scenes are always hot, and unique.

The whole high school reunion thing is a great backdrop for this book (and series)! And the fake date thing is one of my favorite tropes (fake date, fake boyfriend, fake fiancee, etc.). I loved how Jake and Jessie were forced together in multiple scenarios of the story, especially when Jake and Jessie had to stay in her old room in her parents' house, because she told her family she was bringing a date. You already know this arrangement led to some really steamy times!

Like I said about Jessie, I should have hated her, based on her high school past. But one of the things she wanted to accomplish, by coming to the reunion, was making amends. To Jake, but also to her former "friend" Leah Camacho (they weren't really friends, but then, Jessie never had real friends in high school, except Jake). The reunion, as expected, is a nightmare, and for several different reasons. But it was a very symbolic event, and I think Jessie got what she needed from it.

I liked this book and I could definitely see myself rereading it! I hope to have the chance to check out the other Bad Boy Homecoming books, especially since they are all linked. Maybe Drew's book, Trouble, since he is Jessie's brother!

What I Did Not Like:

This is going to sound terrible but I wanted Jessie to feel slightly more guilty about dumping Jake, especially since they had the fake date arrangement going on! The ending is a HEA and I liked how Jessie's mother gives Jessie a kick in the pants, but I sooooo wanted to see Jessie do some serious groveling. Oh well! They both did some apologizing, which was fine with me.

Would I Recommend It:

This book will not disappoint any Katee Robert fan. I feel like I am never disappointed by her. If you like hothothot contemporary romance, give any of her books a chance! This one included.

Rating:

4 stars. This series is such a fun idea and I can't wait to check out the other books! Prom Queen did not disappoint and I'm sure the others won't either.

This whole series just excited the hell out of me. I mean not only do we get some great authors all sharing this theme we also get what sounds like some great characters and the potential for a whole heap of drama and excitement.

Naturally I had to jump at the chance to read Prom Queen by Katee Robert and I was far from disappointed. It obviously had all the smoking hot sex scenes and awesome character development that I have come to expect from the author. It also had a lot of emotion that to be honest I really wasn't expecting in a novel of this size.

Overall I really loved the characters, the theme worked to perfection for me and the whole thing has just made me even more excited for the other books in the series.

Loved it.
