I would like to start this book review by thanking the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this well written, laugh out loud book in exchange for an honest unbiased review. My opinions of this book have not been influenced in anyway by the fact that I received it for review purposes.

The book tells the story of what happens to Alice when she spots & follows a a flustered-looking white rabbit called Dave calling for a referendum down a rabbit hole on the 23rd of June 2017. It follows her journey through the strange new land she emerges in, where up is down, black is white, experts are fools and fools are experts... During her journey through the strange new land of Brexit she meets characters such as Corbynpillar (who sits on a toadstool smoking his hookah and being no help to anyone); Humpty Trumpty (perched on a wall he wants the Mexicans to pay for); the Cheshire Twat (who likes to disappear leaving only his grin, a pint, and the smell of scotch eggs remaining); and the terrifying Queen of Heartlessness who’ll take off your head if you dare question her plan for Brexit). Will Alice ever be able to find anyone who speaks sense.

I loved the authors satirical twist on Lewis Carole's story Alice in Wonderland as well as his take on the Key players in Brexit including the idiocy of some of the things they said during the campaign. For my full review please follow the link below

This is a parody of Alice in Wonderland in a Brexit era. This was hilarious and fun to read with funny and illustrations and poems. The characters are politicians we have in real life and my favourite was 'Trumpty Dumpty' who really sounds like Trump!

There were many quotes that I highlighted on my kindle which I'd to revisit at some time. If you like satire and politics this is for you.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for approving my request for a free digital copy in exchange for a review.

Just awful.

Badly written to tie into the Brexit theme with poorly scaled characters and a dire comedic thrust. Felt tainted just by reading it.

Alice in Brexitland by Lucien Young is the second book I have read by this wonderful author. WoW I haven't laughed so much for a long time. What a brilliant little book. It may be small but has a wonderful vibe about it. I hope Lucien writes some more books like this. 10/10 read.
Big Fat 5 stars from me

Funny, brilliant and relevant. Such a unique idea for a politics humour book! Definitely had me laughing throughout!

Oh my gosh this book made me laugh so much! This is a retelling of Alice in Wonderland set during Bretxit. I thought it was clever and original and really makes something really quite upsetting, light and upbeat!

This is definitely one I recommend.

This is an interesting book with a premise that doesn't really fit my tastes. I was confused where this story was going half the time and wasn't very different to the original version of Alice. The characters were interesting but I can't say I took much away from this read at all. Could be because of my lack of knowledge in politics though.

I really enjoyed this. It was funny, satirical and read really well. I loved the references to politics linked with references to Alice in Wonderland (which is one of my favourite books!) and was pleasantly surprised with the book. Highly recommended to those of you who need to laugh about the mess that is Brexit.

This is such an interesting and humorous book about the Brexit saga. It tells the Brexit story borrowing plots and characters from the classic Alice in Wonderland.
.
If you didn’t understand the politics behind Brexit or you found it overwhelming, Lucien’s book is a good way to grasp Brexit. It is clever and witty and keeps you engaged till the very end.
.
Although it is full of humour and amusing, I did not find it hilarious…maybe because it was depicting true events that in retrospect highlights the stupidity of all involved in the Brexit saga (including the general public).
.
Favourite quote: “Alice gazed at them in horror. ‘Are these fools really to decide our future?’ She said. ‘They spend most of their time mooing like cattle, and when they do talk, it’s absolute nonsense!’”

This is a funny take on Alice in Brexitland and UK politics. A short read but I enjoyed it so much I will soon be reading Trumps Christmas Carol by the same author.

5 full stars from me for this one.

I don't normally read books like this or read any political books. This was pretty funny. All the characters were easily recognisable and really hit the nail on the head!

This was a quick read. Nice to see someone laughing at Brexit instead of all the angst, very cleverly done.

Alice in brexitland
This is a fantastic polically incorrect satire of the momentous moment of the brexit referendum.

The shortness of the novel reflects how limited the campaign was for an event that has already had a significant impact in all our lives.

As an adult I'm not sure that teenagers will fully appreciate the wit and wisdom of this alternative accounting of events but it certainly struck a chord with me.

The best bit was the tweedle brothers debate - a hysterical moment and apt casting throughout!

I think everyone interested in politics should read this novel and every politician should be sent a copy. Then maybe they will appreciate just how the public (represented by Alice) feel about them and their treatment of us as if we are children!

I received a free copy from net galley.com for my fair and honest review.

I enjoyed this although it was obviously written by a remainer. There was humour and political satire a bit like spitting image in words. The author had worked hard at the poetry and i would be happy to recommend it to others

A clever, witty review of what Great Britain is and is facing.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this book.

Very enjoyable and funny read following the same storyline as Alice in Wonderland. The characters are absolutely hilarious and very well selected - "white rabbit" (Cameron), Trumpty Dumpty (yes, you guessed correctly), "Corbynpillar", "Cheshire Twat" (Farage), Queen of Heartlessness (May), "Tweedlegov and Tweedleboz". Need I say any more.

Not my normal type of read but I have noticed that the author has a new release due out in the beginning of Nov called "Trump's Christmas Carol" which I would also like to read because if it's as funny as Alice then it will be definitely worth a read.

I am going to use this as my book of choice in our "political fictional novel" book club category.

'You don't have to be mad to live here but it helps'

Every day in the news all we hear is Brexit, Brexit, Brexit, for young Alice it's something she'd rather forget. Lucien has taken a classic about a young girl falling into a crazy world and, well, put her in our crazy world instead. Based on the Lewis Carroll classic Alice in Brexitland is political satire at its best and the best part? No one is safe!

I love a bit of Satire and after seeing copies in the shop I knew I wanted to give it a try. While I wasn't a big lover of the original novel as a child, this is an absolutely brilliant new take. All of the original favorites The Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts (our very own current Prime Minister, Theresa May), White Rabbit, Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dee, the Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar have all been transformed into the hot shots who were in the fight for Europe one way or another.

Another part that I absolutely loved was the illustrations that accompanies the tale not only are they incredibly well done, they're also hilarious... I don't think I'll be able to view Borris Johnson the same way again!

I gave Alice in Brexitland 4 stars. While this is a short review for a short book I can guarantee it will create a lasting impression. There's a lot of doom and gloom at the moment in politics, so if you're a little bit fed up (aren't we all) or the drama and want a quick read, a bit of fun and ridiculousness then this is the book for you, there might even be another political figure who's in the firing line...

As always thank you to Netgalley, Lucien Young and Ebury Press for this in exchange for an honest review.

A very amusing tale. Funny and intelligent and I loved everything about. Only wished I read it earlier. Spot on with characteristics from the politicians. From Cameron, Farrage and Trump.
