If you don’t mind a heroine who is quite mouthy and vulgar, but forthright about what she wants and the limits she’s willing to put on any hook-up, this is a very fun book. I really enjoyed the heroine, Terri Cooke. She’s had some tough breaks. Her parents have both died and her beloved older brother is suffering from a mysterious disease similar to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She’s had to give up a job in marketing to work a couple of part-time jobs so she is free to take her brother to physical therapy.
The book is told in alternating narrators between Terri and the hot, arrogant guy who comes into the coffee shop where she works every morning, Mick Wentworth. He’s rich and rude, but there are definitely sparks as they give each other the eye every morning. Terri’s description of these nonverbal exchanges is quite funny. She thinks he’s a jerk, but she’d be willing to break her sex drought with him as long as it’s just a one-time thing. She doesn’t have time for more.
Mick is actually a much nicer guy than he seems. He has a world of problems besides being rich and running a successful marketing company.
Needless to say, one night isn’t enough for either of them. I like how they bond over the interactive web game that they play together as Terri turns out to be a geek girl who has to educate Mick about the world of gaming.
Terri’s love for her brother and her willingness to sacrifice for him are quite endearing. She may be rough around the edges, but she really is an admirable person and Mick is smart enough to recognize what a unique woman she is.
If you like a hot, but witty romance, this is a fine read. I ended up like this book a lot more than I thought I would from the title and cover picture.
I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I think I broke some sort of record reading this book. It was un-put-downable! Soooooo sexy and hot!
Ms. Schmidt has gained a fan! I love that the story wasn't your run of the mill a****le millionaire meets down on her luck new college graduate. The chemistry between Mick and Terri was scorching. All in all 5 out of 5!

I liked this book. I liked the gaming part of it even though I am not a gamer. Just a good story and believable characters.

I was given this book from NetGalley in exchange in for my honest opinion. Wickedly hot and steamy. A brash and sexy executive meets a smarty pants barista. From there, fireworks definitely erupt from these two. Add a dysfunctional family to the mix. With a dash of a protective, yet sick older brother, be prepared to be taken on the ride of your life. Finished it, the same day I received it. Loved it!

Interesting take on the boss/employee romance genre! Really good and a quite intriguing storyline. Although I'm not a "gamer", and I don't understand all the gaming lingo, it still kept my interest. This story moves along which I enjoy. The main characters and the back characters were well written and kept my interest. I would definitely recommend this book if you like sexy, steamy, not the "usual" office romance type books!

This is the first book by Jamie K. Schmidt that I've read and it won't be the last!
Our heroine, Terri, is working as a barista despite having a college degree and experience working at one of the best ad agencies in town. But due to unfortunate circumstances in her life she had to quit her job because she needed flexible working hours so that she could care for her brother.
While working as a barista she meets Mr. Wentworth, our hero and arrogant prick. Mr. Wentworth is the CEO of Wentworth Agency and the muse for the name of this book...STUD!
While working jobs on the side to make extra money Terri finds herself working a catering job for Mr. Wentworth himself. He's hosting what he hopes to be the largest client to date for his company which is flailing.
Mick, as we learn his first name, knows he can come up with a great campaign for his client despite not knowing anything about the product. But Terri knows the product, a computer game that she's addicted to. She ends up talking to a big wig for the client and he assumes she is with Wentworth Agency and insists she work on the project. Mick is furious. He had refused to hire Terri because she wanted flexible hours and now he had to accommodate her. But he only agrees to hire her as a consultant for one year.
While this helps Terri she still has to struggle to pay bills that are stacked a mile high. But of course the bastard Mick doesn't know this because he thinks of Terri as the lowly barista.
While Terri deals with her problems Mick has problems of his own. The company that he loves is falling to pieces because of his greedy family. He's estranged from his parents who really weren't parents at and he and his brother pretty much hate each other. Of course they all work at Wentworth Agency which was founded by Mick's grandpa, whom he adored.
Slowly Mick and Terri begin to get to know each other, probably because neither one can resist the sexual tension that's drawing them towards each other like magnets.
This story is character driven and I loved both the Terri and Mick. The story is about how each is fighting their own battles in their own way. Mick's and Terri's problems are not even remotely the same yet each is important.
We follow along as Ms. Schmidt weaves us through the complex lives of Mick and Terri.
This book has more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco.
This is a standalone book with a HEA. It also features some steamy sex.
I highly recommend this book.
I reviewed this book voluntarily.

Stud is a standalone contemporary romance by Jamie K. Schmidt that really hit the spot with me.
Terri Cooke has temporarily put her career on hold to help care for her ailing brother. In order to be able to take him to his doctors appointments and therapy, she's started working at the Beanery Coffee House to help make ends meet. At 8:57 every morning, a hot businessman stops by and orders the same frilly drink every single morning. Terri is taken by him, but knows he's out of her league. She's lucky to have a tiny bit of alone time with all she has going on in her life let alone time left to have a boyfriend.
Mick Wentworth is an ad executive and he's not only dealing with his very busy career, he's also dealing with escalating drama within his family which is in turn causing issues at the firm. Mick is like clockwork each morning when he stops by the coffeehouse to pick up his morning drink. He's also equally taken by the stunning barista who he looks forward to seeing each and every morning.
Looking to impress his newest client, Mick arranges for Terri to cater the breakfast from the Beanery. When he realizes that she has an interest in the product his new client is developing, he hopes to pick up some pointers from her. What he doesn't expect is for his client to already think she works for him! Will Terri and Mick be able to tame the wild chemistry that is so evident between them in order for her to work for him as a consultant on this project?
The chemistry between Terri and Mick was evident from the beginning and I thought Ms. Schmidt did a fantastic job of shaping their relationship. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Terri and her brother, Billy. It was a very realistic depiction of what a family dealing with the sudden onset of an illness or disease has to battle.
This was the first time I had read this author, and I'm glad I took a chance on her. I enjoyed the characters, the story and I would definitely check out her work in the future.

This is the first book I have read from Jamie. I been tempted in the past to pick up one her books. I couldn't give you a reason why. So I was offered this book and went with it. I wasn't disappointed. I kinda feel stupid from not getting the other books.
Terrie and Mick are the couple in this book, and it's a stand a lone. I found Terrie funny with her sassy mouth. She doing her best to help support her ill big brother. She not really struggling, but staying afloat with her life. Mick is a customer who comes in everyday to get a girly coffee, not for him, she thinks he is a prick. Doesn't stop from either one of them getting together.
I won't tell you what happens. I found their story quite interesting and not be able to put it down. Yes I think the ending could of gone into a little bit detail, but it wasn't bad.

I was lucky enough to have gotten a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. I can't put my finger on it exactly why I did not connect with the book as much as I wanted, lets just say the description of the book was better than the book itself. Even though I did like the characters, and the story was told from their perspective, they never completely made me care about them. Maybe because there was a lot of talk about the video games and how they work and I am not a gamer, or the fact that for the longest time nothing was really happening? The book did contain some very steamy scenes and lots of family drama, but overall predictable. Entertaining but this book won't make my re-read list. However I have read books by the Author that I liked very much.

Oh goodness does Mick have a really messed up family. I'm just saying I don't think I have read about a family with so much drama in a long time. The constant what will these people do next was on my mind the entire time I was reading this story. Terri and her brother are a really touching aspect of this story and really add the heart element to this book. How they got together was quite interesting and d]how she ended up with a job out of jealousy was an interesting twist. Overall, interesting characters and a wild ride of family drama.

A readable stand alone by Jamie K. Schmidt. Hate the cover, but the inside is much better.

OMG! Was this book good. I absolutely couldn't put it down, read it one sitting. The story never lagged, just when you thought nothing else would go wrong you were blindsided by something new. The writing was fantastic! The characters were perfect. I definitely recommend this book.
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review by Net Galley and Loveswept.

This is my first book by this author. I'm always a little hesitant to try new authors because their style might not be my thing. So with that being said, this author is right up my alley in romance stories.
Terri is a barista at the local coffee shop. She has had to change jobs because her brother needs her help. They are all each other has left. The one thing she has a love hate relationship with is the sexy man with a stud in his ear that comes in every morning to order a girly coffee. He doesn't really talk much, but he does snap his fingers at her. And that just pisses her off. Even though he's sexy and she has dirty thoughts about him. But he still comes across as an arrogant jerk.
Mick doesn't want to be attracted to the cute barista. He doesn't have time for a relationship. Then one day the cute barista walks into his office looking for a job. But the one thing Terri leaves his office with is a date. And that was a little unexpected for Terri but not unwanted.
Mick and Terri decide to explore their attraction with each other. And it's sizzling hot!! You won't be disappointed with this book if you love yourself a hot, alpha male who's sure of himself.

5+ smoking hot, steamy stars!
This is a super hot and sexy story with a lot of humour and some double crossing/doubting characters. Just the right amount of intrigue to keep me turning the pages. Phew! I squirmed my way through this book! (I may have even read a bit out to my hubby...)
I love Terri's sassy personality and I fell for Mick after a shaky start, He was quite arrogant to start with. The other characters also brought the story to life; Mick's brother, Simon and his parents, they are all pretty sketchy characters! I just love the relationship between Terri and her brother Billy though, they are super sweet.
I'm not a big gamer but it was very easy to follow and a very, VERY, enjoyable to read. I smiled a lot, laughed out loud and even had a bit of a damp face a couple of times, not to mention the hotness factor that had me in a bit of a state..
This is my first book by Jamie K Schmidt, but I will be looking up more. I would definitely recommend that you buy this book, it WILL keep you warm.

More fun than a day at the county fair, with midway tickets, cotton candy, and a stop at the kissing booth.
This story made me laugh. More than once, actually. It's not like we don't know where the story is going to go. Of course we do. That's sort of the point. But there are some definite curve balls along the way. No, I'm not going to tell you. No spoilers here. The way the people interacted and seemed to care about each other was... touching. Once or twice I may have wiped away a tear. It also made me laugh - OUT LOUD. Did I say that already? Well, I can't say it enough.
Finally, I liked that there was a "disabled guy" who was not Disabled Guy, if you know what I mean. Thanks for that, Ms. Schmidt.

Looking for a cute, sexy read? Check out this book. This was absolutely adorable in every sense and filled with a ton of family drama. Not to mention computer games, nerds and hot steamy sex.
Terri is a barista that left her amazing job in marketing to care for her older brother that has degenerative muscle disease. She doesn't care for her job, but it gives her the flexibility she needs to care for her brother. I love how loving and caring she is towards her brother. She takes care of him and puts herself aside -- though it's not good. She somehow manages to find somewhat of a balance. I love how sarcastic and truthful she was. She was absolutely awesome and knew her stuff marketing wise. I loved seeing her turn into a nerd when it came to playing the computer game.
Mick is an ad executive with a lot of family issues weighing him down. He's the type of man to "dine and dash" with women. He never really settled down. He loves his job and loves the business since his grandfather started it. Mick is absolutely brilliant! I loved him business-wise. I loved his humorous side. He was all man in every sense. He really don't know how to have fun besides getting laid. Seeing him learn to really have fun on his spare time and learn what family is was just amazing.
The romance between Mick and Terri was beautiful. It started off with them lusting over one another for 5 months, then Mick finally taking the plunge and asking her out. From there things escalate between the two of them rather beautifully. I enjoyed seeing them give into their feelings and tease one another. I did like how they tried to keep things professional when he hired her. I loved how he picked love over business. They were just phenomenal.
The Wentworth family dynamic sucked compared to the Cooke's. Mick's family is just downright money hungry thieves. I hated his parents for the way they treated him and his brother. They were just terrible. I hated his brother Simon at first, but towards the end I liked him. He finally stood up for what he truly wanted instead of loving money. Terri's brother was amazing despite his disease. I enjoyed his strength and watching him still have fun.
That ending was amazing. Definitely an awesome read.

Loved Mick and Terri's story! Jamie K. Schmidt never lets a reader down!

I have read Ms. Schmidt before and she never disappoints as long as you like bad rich boys!! Terri is a barista and Mick comes in everyday at 8:57 to get his coffee all attude......the chemistry between the two is electric......it's a fun and fast read thanks in part to the characters honesty and humor. The twists and turns make it a page turner that will not disappoint

Stud by Jamie K. Schmidt is a standalone contemporary romance that is very steamy with some funny moments spread throughout, however there was just something missing. Now add in all the drama and craziness of Mick’s family that made the story so far from relatable and realistic, not to mention the ending that just came to a quick end in a poorly executed manner and you’ve got a middle-of-the-road for me; it wasn’t horrible, but at the same time I wasn’t wowed though either.
