I would rate this book a 3.25 out of 5 stars.

I have a particular affection for books set on islands; I always love the vibe of that setting, and this book was no exception.

I really enjoyed this book but I found some parts of the story a little to convenient or not explained very well. I also felt that the ending was a little bit of an info dump and a little bit rushed.

If you enjoy thrillers, particularly those set on islands, then this is worth checking out.

Book blurb...
From bestselling author A.J. Banner comes a dazzling new novel of psychological suspense in the vein of S.J. Watson’s Before I Go to Sleep and Mary Kubica’s The Good Girl that questions just how much we can trust the people around us.
Thirty-four-year-old marine biologist Kyra Winthrop remembers nothing about the diving accident that left her with a complex form of memory loss. With only brief flashes of the last few years of her life, her world has narrowed to a few close friendships on the island where she lives with her devoted husband, Jacob.
But all is not what it seems. Kyra begins to have visions—or are they memories?—of a rocky marriage, broken promises, and cryptic relationships with the island residents, whom she believes to be her friends.
As Kyra races to uncover her past, the truth becomes a terrifying nightmare. A twisty, immersive thriller, The Twilight Wife will keep readers enthralled through the final, shocking twist.

My thoughts…
I found this novel intriguing with a good amount of psychological suspense.
I certainly felt for the main character, Kyra. Being on an isolated island without any memories of recent years was very challenging for her and I found it intriguing.
The slow build created the appropriate tension, as a result the story was slow to move forward at times.
I loved the romance of living in an island community and enjoyed meeting the local characters. I understood the parts they were meant to play, but I would have loved to see more involvement by the community in the resolution of Kyra’s marriage problems.

I did not enjoy this story as much as I would have liked. I do, however, recognise the challenge this author faced with a story that had so few characters on an isolated island.

Check it out and if you read it, please let me know what you thought.

The setting for this mystery/ twisted novel is Mystic Island in the Pacific Northwest. Kyra Winthrop is a marine biologist from Seattle University is living with her husband, Jacob in his parents' old house. She is recovering from a traumatic brain injury from a scuba diving incident. Her husband is overly protective and patient as she is missing moments from her memory - bits and pieces are remembered in no order.
I felt some passages could have been enhanced and more written about the secrets. I would have enjoyed the exploration and delving into the backstory. It teased us with a storyline of tension and excitement but it just fell far from it. The ending was too Hollywood for me. I believe this would appeal to readers who enjoy light mysteries with a PG rating.

This book is a slow burner. I would not classify it as a thriller myself. It is more a study in the human mind, its creepy and draws you in until you are dying to know the truth. You will not be able to put this novel down untill you know the truth.
