Under Fire was the perfect mix of a unique heroine, a gruff hero, and quickly paced excitement that kept me glued to the pages!

Louisa was just so smart, and so shy.
She's dedicated to her research. Six is a former Navy SEAL, and as smart and dedicated as Louisa is, Six is as well. He's sexy and I loved the chemistry between them.

Overall, I really enjoyed Under Fire. The characters were intriguing and the story made you feel. It was quick, but in a way that was perfect for the story. It was suspenseful and romantic. 4.5 star recommended read

After the Preload series I was wanting more of Scarlett Cole but that series is a hard series to read after, because of all the heart and beauty of the men of Preload. This time around this series is a romantic suspense series.

The suspense was good but I didn't like this series as much as Preload. I adored the heroine and her quirky ways minus the giggling. Again my normal issues with this author with giggling heroines and timeline and detail issues. I found this book had more timeline issues than other. Or maybe they aren't time line issues but not enough clarification of time during the evolution of the story.

This series is based on three best friends and ex Navy seals whom opened a new security business. In Under Fire we get Sixton 'Six' Rapp who is a fun loving seal and loyal friend but when he meets quirky Louisa North, he's a goner. I have never met anyone with her type of issues but I assume the were written well as I felt her pain when she was in social situations.

The romance was cute though they did have a lot of sex when maybe they should have been doing more investigating which at those times it came across as more sex than substance.

Even though there were some details that took me off course I did like the suspense and I was hooked into the series and wanted to find out more from Mac and Cabe.

This is a great start to a suspense and action series about 3 former Navy SEALS opening their own security company. I liked the H, Sixten "Six," and how patient and kind he was to Louisa from the beginning. Just when I think Louisa might stumble into TSTL territory, she doesn't - hooray! She never ran off on her own or whatever you'd find with a lot other h's. My only frustration was the pacing. The story is dragged out and there's a lot of internal monologues or long Louisa/scientific explanations. Overall, I enjoyed the characters and the overall story line.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

Romance filled with action and danger…

I really enjoyed this first in the new Love Over Duty series by Scarlett Cole. Sixten was ex-military and all alpha as he and his partners set up their new security firm. He was comfortable in what they were doing, excited even, as intel, bullets and catching the bad guys was what he knew and loved. He and his partners were brothers in arms and they had a good vision for success. Louisa and her problems were not on their one-year plan but then she wasn’t on Six’s life plan either. A chance meeting meant a surprise connection that would lead them down an unexpected, scary path…

I don’t mean shop of horrors scary though the danger Louisa was facing was real. Reaching out to Six for help meant Louisa had to give up some control, hard to do in her organized life, but thank goodness she did. He was there when she needed him, even if keeping their professional and personal lives separate was increasingly hard…

There was a lot of friction as the suspense built and so did the chemistry between them. The storyline may not have been particularly new, but I couldn’t argue with its execution. Heat, emotional pitfalls and a lot of action made for a great romance ride… I am looking forward to more!

Fist book of Love over Duty series.
Sixten, ex SEAL and now co owner of security firm and outgoing. Louisa, a geeky scientist who doesn't like crowd and socializing. Two opposites attract..
They met when Six was security detail for Louisa's Gala. Both didn't think much in the beginning since Louisa wasn't a typical girl Six was attracted. However, they encounter each other again after the Gala.
Louisa wanted to make the world better by creating a drug that could cure Huntington's disease. She was close to finding a new solution to the new drug but when she realizes something was off at her work, she didn't know who she could trust. She needed to feel secure and she remembered Six.
When she went to Six for help. Six feels he feels different about her. She is nothing like any girls he use to date and he is drawn to her.
Now they have to work together as client and bodyguard. But it is harder for both to keep their feelings at bay.
Plus her life and his life is threaten when one of the sample didn't work. Now Six has to protect her and his life.

This was really great start of the series and I can't wait to read about all his SEAL buddies. I love the fact Louisa was strong, geeky smart scientist and I love Six for protecting her and loving her as she is. It was great suspense romance. I would recommend who enjoys suspense and romance.

"Not all questions need answering."

I started with book two and then circled back to Under Fire. I have to say that the nerd in me really enjoyed quirky Lou who is socially awkward and quotes scientific formulas. She gets severe anxiety in social situations and prefers the isolation of her research lab. Yes, it's a lonely existence but preferable to the stress of trying to overcome her nerves.

Once I became aware of the situation it was very exciting for me to anticipate the eventual meeting of Six and Lou. I was seeing rainbows and unicorns during my mental matchmaking. I love it when a big muscled sexy former SEAL is nice to a nerdy girl when he doesn't have to be. He is HOT and can get any woman he wants, but he's still nice instead of being arrogant.

Fast forward and the edge of your seat suspense kicks in and the excitement escalates, in and out of the bedroom. The Love Over Duty series checks all the boxes, bringing sweet and sexy along with action and suspense. I especially love the bond of the military trained brothers who've joined forces to create a security firm. I can only imagine the trouble they are going to get into in the future and I can't wait to read about it. The line forms here...

Loved loved loved Under Fire. Scarlett Cole writes such a great story. Her characters are real & relatable but also oh so sexy. The relationship between Six & Louisa was special with their support for each other & made the book even better.

Do yourself a favor & read Under Fire!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

It gets harder and harder to review Scarlett Cole books, I feel I am repeating myself over and over again; boring everyone with my raving fangirl verbal drool.

Under Fire is honest to God some of the best Romantic Suspense you will ever read. With intense emotions and a stellar cast of characters, you’ll be feeling more than just pulse-pounding adrenaline and suspense when you read this book.

Readers looking for a good romantic suspense should give this a go. The heroine is a geeky scientist searching a cure for Huntington’s disease until her failed sample and notes got stolen from the lab she works for. The hero is an ex Navy Seal who went into the security business with his fellow ex Seals. I enjoyed the action in this book and I find the chemistry of the leads hot. Although lacking in shocking and surprising twist, the end is good enough and gives a good segway to the next book in the series.

What an amazing book! I really loved reading it. It was a brilliant story, captivating, thrilling and a real page-turner that kept me glued to my reader till the very last page.

I loved the chemistry between our rather shy heroine, Dr. Loúisa North and our hero, the former seal Sixten Rapp. Those two together are one of the cases of opposites attracting each other and as a couple they are perfect. This fast-paced story kept me on my toes - and our heroes right along with me.

Interesting, strong and unique characters who know their worth, a great storyline, action and an HEA - I loved this book and I am looking forward to the next books in this series. Oh, and should I mention that this was one of the few books that I simply had to get as a print book as well?

ARC received for review

Great start to a new series. Hottie and the nerd with lots of drama, suspense and action. Six was amazing when dealing with Lou and her social anxiety. Can't wait to learn more about his partners.

Six and Lou's story was great!! Six is a former Navy SEAL (which I LOVE) and he's tall (another plus) and he's uber alpha (trifecta complete!). He's just starting a business with his brothers at arms, a security company actually, which is perfect for all these former SEALs.

Louisa is kinda awkward but a scientific genius. She's working on a formula but she's convinced that someone is stealing from her lab. And suddenly she's right. She met Six at an event and now knows she needs his help.

Part thriller, all romance, and alphas? My kind of story!! Definitely will be looking for more of this series from one of my go-to authors, Scarlett Cole!

Solid start to a new series. Six was a little hot and cold for me but I really loved Lou. She was such an interesting character and she definitely needed to be handled differently at times by Six. Her anxiety and quirks balanced Six's personality out and forced him to soften a bit as the book progressed.

I'll definitely be reading more in this series.

3.5 stars
I liked this book, but I didn't love it. My issue was with the Six. I didn't really connect with his character much.

And Louisa was just awkward and I didn't connect with her character much either.

The suspense and the plot was good. My issue was with the characters.

I really enjoyed the start of this new series.

I adore a nerdy smart heroine. And I liked the hero, but felt he want on a bit to much, thinking about how “easy” it was for him to pick up women for the night, since women just found him so attractive.

But over all, they were a good couple, and I found the suspense part of the plot interesting and original.

And once we moved onto them actually building a relationship Six was just so lovely with Louisa, making her feel comfortable.

I the end it is 4 stars, as I it was an original exciting start to a new series, I just had the odd niggle here and there.

This story is a beginning to a series. With that comes a lot of responsibility, including the building of a world. I don't feel that connection and I wasn't emersed in it to the point I felt like I was all in.

This book starts off verrrrry slow, which is why I've taken so long with it. I actually forgot it was meant to be a romantic suspense.

The premise of the book sounded good and I really liked that Louisa is a totally different character than anyone could have imagined. I love Six and his caring nature. I also love how he found Louisa's brain just as attractive. Though they could have used more chemistry I can see why it wasn't all totally there with her awkwardness and such.

Overall this was a decent start, minus the "romance" portion. I'm looking forward to the next in the series as I know Scarlett is a great writer.

Under Fire is the perfect blend of romance and suspense. Dr. Louisa North is a research scientist who may or may not someday develop Huntington's Disease, as her father did. She's sweet, smart and kind and loving, and very shy and anxious in crowds and around people she doesn't know. Sixton Rapp is a retired Navy SEAL who formed a private security company with his Navy brothers. When he meets Lou at a fundraising event, he's instantly intrigued by the obviously anxious, but interesting woman.

When they form an unlikely friendship over the next weeks, where she helps him when he needs to talk about his flinching responses to unexpected noises, and he helps calm her anxiety with crowds, it's obvious that they are forming a strong bond, not so much physically, although the sexual tension is thick, but emotionally and mentally. When she hires Six's company to protect her when things start going wrong in her lab, that's when their relationship takes a turn, a good turn, but one formed under fire as the action and suspense heats up.

Under Fire is an excellent start to a new series. Six and Lou's chemistry is off the charts hot, but more importantly, they have a compatibility that isn't often seen in romances today. It's born under pressure, yes, but it's strong as steel, and I can only hope we get more of them as the series goes on. Kudos to Scarlett for a strong, sexy, compatible couple made of two amazing people, and to the start of a great new series!

Scarlett Cole I swear can do no wrong when it comes to tackling different book themes. She hits the ball out of the park yet again with the first book in the Love Over Duty series.
Six and Louisa are 2 people thrown together but circumstance and their banter is what allows the suspenseful plot to be successful.

Get this book! You'll thank me later!
