This book has tension in spades – between who is trying to get the formula Louisa is experimenting with for Huntington’s disease and sexual tension (get out the fans!). Six and his buddies are fabulously written characters. Love the SEALs. Louisa is so afraid of people and crowds that it pretty much shuts her down. Fortunately, she is able to cope with organization and Six being there for her. This is the second book I have read by Ms. Cole and I have to say I am loving her stories.

So looking forward to the other stories in this series.

Sixten Rapp is my kinda hero!!! He's hot, alpha to the core and a little bit broken, I do like my heroes to have some kind of "flaw" as it makes them a whole lot easier to connect to!

Having retired from the Armed Services, Six and his mates have formed a security agency, Eagle Securities and it is taking shape slowly but surely. They are hiring new folks and taking on more cases. He is not happy about working for a former high school associate, but work is work.

Dr. Louisa North is a genius but she is socially awkward. Give her a lab and a puzzle and she is happy as a clam but doing talks at fundraisers..it's a necessary evil to find a cure for the illness that claimed her father and which she herself may be a carrier. Saved by Six during a meltdown, they form an easy friendship and when things start to go wrong at her lab she knows exactly who to turn to.

Six and Louisa are drawn together but just as they take their fledgling feelings further, she becomes his client causing all sorts of headaches where his partners are concerned!

Louisa is a fab character, shy, awkward, smart but still attractive in her own quirky way. Six is strong but complicated and failing to deal with his PTSD issues. Together they get through each others issues and seem to calm each other without thinking about it. There are a great selection of secondary characters and I can't wait to meet them in more depth in the next books. Mac and Delaney look like being an insanely complicated duo!!!

The premise is interesting although it is slow going when getting the plot to thicken. I like Louisa and her quirkiness but it took ages for them to get it on. Yes I understand her issues but she already felt really comfortabl with Six. I'm afraid this book unfortunately doesn't fit in with what I like at the moment.

Under Fire is the first book in Scarlett Cole’s new Love Over Duty Series and it’s a winner! It’s also my first read by this author and she’s got a new fan!

Dr. Louisa North has been working on trying to develop a treatment for a deadly genetic disease that took her father from her 10 years prior. When she has to speak at a fundraiser for this disease, she ends up meeting Six Rapp, a formal Navy SEAL who has started up a security firm with his SEAL “brothers” and is doing security detail for the event. After the fundraiser, Louisa can’t stop thinking about Six, which is very unusual for her. Her life is all about being at the lab or at home. But there’s just something about him…

When Louisa suspects someone has been going through her notes and samples at the lab, she makes a switch on the labels of two of the samples, due to one turning out to be a very dangerous one and she doesn’t want it getting in the wrong hands. But when the sample believed to be the bad one goes missing, Louisa is on a mission to find out what happened and why.

When she turns to Six and his company for help with finding out what happened in the lab, at first one of his “brothers” isn’t on board since this isn’t the kind of work they do, but Six wants to help her. When things take a turn for the worse and men are after Louisa, all of Six’s team are on board. Things really heat up between the two of them and even though Six tries to cool things down while on the case, he can’t fight his feelings for Louisa and she doesn’t want him to.

Will they stop the men going after Louisa in time, before someone gets hurt or worse? Will Six be able to keep Louisa safe?

With great action and suspense, a hot romance, and a storyline that had me into it from the very beginning, this was a very enjoyable read. I’m very much looking forward to continuing this series and reading more of Scarlett Cole’s books!

OMG.... I loved Six and how he brought Lou out of her shell. It was the right amount of suspense and hot scenes.
Scarlett Cole does not disappoint with her writing!!

This was a fantastic romantic suspense, and I loved it! It was classic, while still being new, and fun, and I loved all the characters!

Sixten Rapp is a former Navy SEAL, and he's now retired. He's started a security company with his 2 best friends, both of whom he went to school with, and joined the Navy with. He's been away from the U.S. for quite a while, so transitioning back into civilian life is a little harder than he expected. He's never really had time or inclination for anything more than one night with the women he's been with, and he has no plans to change that course. But, on his first security job, at a ritzy fundraiser, he meets a painfully shy, but beautiful doctor, and something about her calls to him.

Dr. Louisa North is a mess, socially speaking. She's a brilliant researcher, but she has debilitating anxiety when it comes to dealing with people, especially in large groups. Her research into a cure for Huntington's Disease, which took her father's life and is strongly genetic, is of the utmost importance to her. So, she agrees to make a presentation at this fundraiser to get more money funneling into her program. She works for a private lab, and they need all they can get, though the owner himself is quite wealthy. She's outside on the patio, psyching herself up before her speech, when she starts freaking out, and she's found by Six. She's intrigued by him, and his calm, and it buoys her enough to get through the speech.

Both Six and Louisa find themselves constantly thinking about each other, until they run into each other again, by chance. They have strong chemistry, even through Lou's constant anxiety issues. Then something suspicious starts happening at her lab, and she's not sure who she can trust, so she goes to Six for help. That's when the suspense story line really starts in, and it was so fun, fast-paced, and exciting! I really enjoyed Six breaking through all of Louisa's walls, sometimes, before she even realized it. I also loved how aware he was of her and her quirks at all times, so as to not make her feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Their banter was so fun, and sexy, and I just really enjoyed watching them together.

The side characters were also quite entertaining, especially Six's 2 best friends and business partners, as well as the other guys who work for them. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the back story on them all, especially Mac and his unresolved feelings for Delaney, who is the sister of their deceased 4th best friend. Their book is next, in January 2018, so we should be finding out more details about them then. I really enjoyed this hot, sweet, and exciting story, and I can't wait to read more in this series!

Rating 3.5 stars!

This is the promising first book in the beginning of a new series by Scarlett Cole.

Six has just gotten truly home from his service as a SEAL and he and his friends, Cabe and Mac, have opened up their own private security firm. One of their first jobs, Six's first, for the new firm Eagle Securities when he meets Louisa, the speaker at a high-end fundraiser. She is outside giving herself a pep talk and it's clear she doesn't look so good. So he helps a bit, or tries to.

This isn't the last time he tries to help her either or she him as it's obvious he is fighting with issues of his own. But when it's clear someone is stealing from the lab and then has been in her home she goes to Six for advice. Cabe is quick to just send her to the police where Six decides he wants to help. She's quirky and he likes her.

As things progress and it becomes even scarier and business decisions have to be made which may pit the new partners and lifetime friends at odds and Louisa in further jeopardy.

Read this to enjoy the new beginning of this series. I enjoyed it.

Fast paced, hot read. Good storyline. Six and Louisa perfect for each other.

Louisa is a scientist looking for the cure to Huntington's disease, but instead accidentally creates something that can be weaponized.

Sixton is a retired SEAL and one of the group starting their own security business. The group takes up Louisa's case and help protect her. Good thing, because she is in danger.

Lots of good things happening in this book. I loved that the author resisted the urge to make the SEAL squad a bunch of independently wealthy men...they are putting together and business and they need the money. The instalove is strong but doesn't seem brow-raising the way I've seen it in other books.

The only cons are that the storybhitba slow spot in the middle (fortunately that didn't last long) and I had the feeling I'd read this book before. Even the ending part leading into (presumably) book 2 seemed familiar. A glance at Amazon says these are unique stories and not reissues.

Greatly enjoyable story.

Six is a former SEAL who is working at a security firm with some of his former teammates. He meets Louisa, a scientist who is working to develop a medicine what would help people with Huntington's disease. Unfortunately she develops a formula that could be used as a biological weapon. Her life is in danger and Six is the only one who can help her. Suspenseful, action-filled, sweet hot romance!

Under Fire pushed all the right buttons, romance, characters and character development, pace, action, suspense, plot and story. I loved every single thing about this story!

Cole has definitely outdone herself with Under Fire! I was mesmerized from start to finish, and the action started basically on the first page. All buttons to make this a favorite read were ticked, and I almost didn’t manage to sleep because I’d rather spend my time with Louisa, Six and the guys from Eagle Security. It was a fast-paced story, with a lot of danger, but Louisa’s logical mind as well as Six’s strength and ability to get a good overview kept things on the right side of safe most of the time.

I’ve always found intelligence sexy, and seeing a guy like Six agree with that made both him and Louise even more enticing in Under Fire. He was able to see behind her shyness, and she saw him as more than hired muscle from the beginning as well. And the way the mystery unfolded with so much suspense just gave me goosebumps. Louisa being so shy could have been a turn-off, but instead, it made her extremely endearing. And the way Six just got her, and didn’t push or do anything he thought would make her uncomfortable made him irresistible.

One of the things I loved the most about Under Fire was that while it was Louisa and Six’s story, the other characters were also well fleshed out. I got to know the guys who work in Eagle Security with Six, and also Louisa’s mom and some of her co-workers. This not only made the story balanced, it made me even more eager for the next book in the Love Over Duty series. Also, because Louisa signed on Eagle Security to protect her, the romance between her and Six became forbidden, and that made it even sweeter.

Written in third person point of view, past tense and with a narrator that is close to omniscient, the pacing was perfect for the kind of story Under Fire is. And through the food choices, dialogues and action scenes, I felt like I got to know the characters really well. The problems Six and Louisa had to deal with weren’t swept under the carpet, but dealt with in small doses, where the pace slowed down a little bit to help me catch my breath. If there is one book you’ll get this summer, you should make it be this one!

I am a big fan of Scarlett Cole's work. This book did not disappoint. Not only did I love the main characters, but the secondary characters were great too. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I've read and enjoyed some of Ms. Cole's other books, and I was hoping this start to a new series would be as well done since the description of the story sounded very interesting. I'm pleased to say that I was not disappointed. I was sucked right into the story from the first page and stayed riveted throughout. I adore a quirky heroine, and Lou is just that. She's smart, sweet, damaged in her own way, and absolutely adorable. I loved when her fierceness came out. Six is her perfect match in every way. He was such an alpha male but didn't spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to fight his attraction for Lou. The story itself is full of intrigue, and it's clear that Ms. Cole did her research so that the plot would be realistic and not just touched upon in a superficial way. This is a great start to a new series with the promise of equally riveting stories for the other members of Eagle Security. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.

UNDER FIRE was an entertaining, under the gun courtship that turns into so much more.

I enjoyed Six's and Lou's story and see that this series really has the potential to go places.

I wasn't a fan of Six's vacillation between work ethics and being in a relationship with Lou, especially since the work ethics where already blown to hell.

In the end, I found it to be a fun, fast moving and an entertaining romance with a cast of characters that I look forward to their stories.

I loved these characters! Former Navy Seal, Sixton Rapp is every girls dream. Sexy, strong, capable, and decent down to the bone. Lou, one of my favorite female characters ever. She's vulnerable, strong, focused, capable, and painfully awkward. She's a fascinating mix of characteristics. The book was full of action and suspense and the secondary characters were very intriguing. I m looking forward to their stories...

This was a good romantic suspense, but I felt like it was missing that certain something that I've come to know as Scarlett Cole's writing. It was solid, but not stand out. I was looking forward to a romantic suspense series from her, since I love romantic suspense and I've enjoyed all of her romance titles, but I felt like the main characters' romance lacked a little of the caring nature and saving the ladies emotionally that were in her Second Circle series. I want to know more about Six and his buddies relationship. Louisa's fear of groups of people and Six's PTSD were a unique premise for them to help each other, but it just didn't quite hit an A+ for me. They did have sizzling sex. I am looking forward to the next one.

4.5 Stars Under Fire is a great romantic suspense. Fast paced with great character dynamics and a storyline that keep you engaged from beginning to end, what a fabulous read. This may be my first read by Scarlett Cole but it won’t be my last. I will definitely be recommending this book.
