Six is a former SEAL who is working at a security firm with some of his former teammates. He meets Louisa, a scientist who is working to develop a medicine what would help people with Huntington's disease. Unfortunately she develops a formula that could be used as a biological weapon. Her life is in danger and Six is the only one who can help her. Suspenseful, action-filled, sweet hot romance!

Under Fire pushed all the right buttons, romance, characters and character development, pace, action, suspense, plot and story. I loved every single thing about this story!

Cole has definitely outdone herself with Under Fire! I was mesmerized from start to finish, and the action started basically on the first page. All buttons to make this a favorite read were ticked, and I almost didn’t manage to sleep because I’d rather spend my time with Louisa, Six and the guys from Eagle Security. It was a fast-paced story, with a lot of danger, but Louisa’s logical mind as well as Six’s strength and ability to get a good overview kept things on the right side of safe most of the time.

I’ve always found intelligence sexy, and seeing a guy like Six agree with that made both him and Louise even more enticing in Under Fire. He was able to see behind her shyness, and she saw him as more than hired muscle from the beginning as well. And the way the mystery unfolded with so much suspense just gave me goosebumps. Louisa being so shy could have been a turn-off, but instead, it made her extremely endearing. And the way Six just got her, and didn’t push or do anything he thought would make her uncomfortable made him irresistible.

One of the things I loved the most about Under Fire was that while it was Louisa and Six’s story, the other characters were also well fleshed out. I got to know the guys who work in Eagle Security with Six, and also Louisa’s mom and some of her co-workers. This not only made the story balanced, it made me even more eager for the next book in the Love Over Duty series. Also, because Louisa signed on Eagle Security to protect her, the romance between her and Six became forbidden, and that made it even sweeter.

Written in third person point of view, past tense and with a narrator that is close to omniscient, the pacing was perfect for the kind of story Under Fire is. And through the food choices, dialogues and action scenes, I felt like I got to know the characters really well. The problems Six and Louisa had to deal with weren’t swept under the carpet, but dealt with in small doses, where the pace slowed down a little bit to help me catch my breath. If there is one book you’ll get this summer, you should make it be this one!

I am a big fan of Scarlett Cole's work. This book did not disappoint. Not only did I love the main characters, but the secondary characters were great too. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I've read and enjoyed some of Ms. Cole's other books, and I was hoping this start to a new series would be as well done since the description of the story sounded very interesting. I'm pleased to say that I was not disappointed. I was sucked right into the story from the first page and stayed riveted throughout. I adore a quirky heroine, and Lou is just that. She's smart, sweet, damaged in her own way, and absolutely adorable. I loved when her fierceness came out. Six is her perfect match in every way. He was such an alpha male but didn't spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to fight his attraction for Lou. The story itself is full of intrigue, and it's clear that Ms. Cole did her research so that the plot would be realistic and not just touched upon in a superficial way. This is a great start to a new series with the promise of equally riveting stories for the other members of Eagle Security. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.

Great start to a new series and another winner from Scarlett Cole. I love a good military romance and this delivered on so many levels. I loved how it started out and it just build from there. The other characters in this click of friends have many layers that I cant wait to explore when they get their own stories. This book focused on Sixton and Louisa. Six is out of the navy alongside his friends and have started their own security company, at one of his company events providing security he meets Louisa. Louisa is a nerdy women who has some issues around people but she also if concerned over a missing lab sample. I loved the interactions between the two and the suspense kept building throughout the story. Would highly recommend this series and am already looking forward to the next instalment.

UNDER FIRE was an entertaining, under the gun courtship that turns into so much more.

I enjoyed Six's and Lou's story and see that this series really has the potential to go places.

I wasn't a fan of Six's vacillation between work ethics and being in a relationship with Lou, especially since the work ethics where already blown to hell.

In the end, I found it to be a fun, fast moving and an entertaining romance with a cast of characters that I look forward to their stories.

I received this ARC copy of Under Fire from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Under Fire is set for publication Aug. 1, 2017.

I loved these characters! Former Navy Seal, Sixton Rapp is every girls dream. Sexy, strong, capable, and decent down to the bone. Lou, one of my favorite female characters ever. She's vulnerable, strong, focused, capable, and painfully awkward. She's a fascinating mix of characteristics. The book was full of action and suspense and the secondary characters were very intriguing. I m looking forward to their stories...

This was a good romantic suspense, but I felt like it was missing that certain something that I've come to know as Scarlett Cole's writing. It was solid, but not stand out. I was looking forward to a romantic suspense series from her, since I love romantic suspense and I've enjoyed all of her romance titles, but I felt like the main characters' romance lacked a little of the caring nature and saving the ladies emotionally that were in her Second Circle series. I want to know more about Six and his buddies relationship. Louisa's fear of groups of people and Six's PTSD were a unique premise for them to help each other, but it just didn't quite hit an A+ for me. They did have sizzling sex. I am looking forward to the next one.

4.5 Stars Under Fire is a great romantic suspense. Fast paced with great character dynamics and a storyline that keep you engaged from beginning to end, what a fabulous read. This may be my first read by Scarlett Cole but it won’t be my last. I will definitely be recommending this book.

Intense is my word for this book. Six is such an interesting and intense character he seems like he never has a off button. He goes full force into everything he does. Lou is just as intense but in the lab where she is along and working on solving these complex probelms. The writing is so great, it just draws you into this story and the lives of these characters and doesn't let up. There is sexual tension and action and drama plus hiding out from the bad guy and seeing Lou develop and transform into this gun shooting, protect her man, this lady it is just awesome! So many great things about this book!

Louisa has a few social hold ups. However she overcomes them pretty fast around Six and his friends. Louisa is also really smart, but Six doesn't have much trouble keeping up with her. She is really good at explaining things so people can understand.
Six knows at their first meeting that Louisa is someone special. So when a second chance comes his way, he jumps at trying to get to know her. Not knowing that her life was in danger. But hey, that's what he specializes in.
Under Fire, is full of suspense and kept me turning the pages quickly.

I absolutely love Scarlett Cole's writing! Ever since I read her Second Circle series I've been hooked! This book is no different. New series, new set of characters, but the same writing style that makes me absolutely love this book! I loved Six and Lou so so much. One thing I loved the most about them is that they just "got" one another. They didn't ask questions or wonder why the person was the way they are, they just accepted and moved on. To me, that was so refreshing. This book was fast paced and kept me turning pages and on the edge of my seat! A brilliant way to start a series that I can't wait to get my hands on the rest! 5 stars!!
