I love small town romances and I really enjoyed Sutton and Wyatt's story along with all the other characters. The book was so good that I will continue with this series because their are so many other people I want to get to know more about. Also, I do want to mention that I did read out of order but surprisingly I was not lost at all.

Sutton Mize definitely needed the lights on to see her fiancée as he truly is in Leave The Night On by Laura Trentham. This is small town drama, probably more realistic in that the bad is shown as well as the good. There is cheating in this story but it is not by the two main characters, though the gist is that Sutton Mize wanted her fiancée to think that had happened. That did not endear her to me.

The town of Cottonbloom has plenty of Dallas drama which gives the residents plenty to talk about even if it is not true. As the story progresses Sutton grows on me so that I want her and Wyatt to find true love together. She may be the upper class with Wyatt as working class but in my eyes, he is the better class.

Cute story that seemed a bit predictable. The most unpredictable events were with Sutton, her ex and her former best friend.

I love visiting the quirky small town of Cottonbloom. The town and the people always come alive for me. Leave the Night On was no different. The story was full of love, both the romantic and platonic kind. It was sweet and touching and I loved both MCs right from the get-go.

Quick Summary:
Wyatt has always had a crush on Sutton Mize but he’s a small town mechanic and she’s the daughter of a prominent Judge. Their adult lives don’t cross paths until fate throws them together. Saving Sutton is Wyatt’s chance to get to know the girl he thought he never had a chance with.

Sutton always thought Wyatt didn't like her when they were younger, but the Wyatt that comes to her rescue is a man with profound depths she can't resist exploring. It's the wrong time to jump into a relationship so suddenly after her last disaster, but Sutton is done being safe, she's ready to take a wild risk.

The role of forgiving nice girl who never rocked the boat would have to go to her understudy tonight. Not only was she going to rock the boat, she planned to blow the mother-flipping thing to smithereens.

What starts as a business arrangement between them to save face and help Wyatt's family garage turns into something much more complicated. Pretty soon Wyatt and Sutton are knee deep in emotions and the clock is ticking down the minutes to the end of their temporary relationship.

Can Wyatt show Sutton he's ready to settle down, with her? Or will Sutton let her past cloud her chance at a real HEA with Wyatt? Lol, this is Cottonbloom, so although the ending is predictable, the road leading to that sweet ending will have some unexpected twists!

What I loved:
Sutton and Wyatt were great MCs. They complimented each other and I loved their easy, almost instinctive trust and emotional pull. Not to say they didn't have enough heat, because they generate some crazy intense heat between the sheets - just saying! Their romance was not without it's bumps but it was worth it in the end.

There are three more Abbott brothers waiting in the wings that will hopefully have their own stories soon! Mack was intriguing, Jackson and Willa - I'm anxious to read ASAP! and Ford, well idk how I feel about him . . . lets just say, he needs to be redeemed but I have faith LT will be able to pull it off!

A few things felt off for me . . .
The whole Bree thing, I felt Sutton was way too easy on her, not only because of what she did and with who, but the selfish way she behaved after the fact. I didn't buy into her remorse, she was just a terrible person and I wanted Sutton to break all ties with her. Granted this isn't Sutton's style but still I wanted less Bree time all around.

Something else that stuck out as odd to me because the behavior felt so out of place, was Sutton's reaction to Ford baiting Wyatt at the gala. It was odd because she and Wyatt had always been upfront about their situation. The fact that they had just cleared the water and she was finally ready to take that next step with Wyatt, only to over-react (in my opinion) to Ford's accusations was a bit frustrating for me. TBH I was already a bit miffed with the way she had left things with Wyatt before this, so my frame of mind was not very forgiving when she puts him out of his misery and than soon after, pushes him away. Again.

Lucky for me, the drama was downplayed and not drawn out for drama's sake. It was low angst and except for those few hiccups, I really liked Sutton and loved Wyatt. Can't wait to stop by and visit Cottonbloom again soon with Jackson and Willa's story next!!!

This was my first book by Laura Trentham. How did I miss her before? It says this is the fourth book in the Cottonbloom series, so I've got to go back and catch up. I really liked her writing style, the plot and the characters. Not only were the main character, Sutton and Wyatt likable, but the secondary characters were also fun to get to know. Wyatt brother's had the "not always so harmonious" thing going on, just like any family. They really gave Wyatt a hard time, but for the most part had his back as well. Sutton's parents were very supportive of her in a way that even surprised me. Her best friend definitely broke the best friend code, but even she was redeeming herself by the end of the book.
Wyatt was just a sweetheart (as well as super sexy) from the very beginning of the book. He takes a moment that could have been the complete demolition of Sutton's dignity and really tried to help her through it. He stepped up to the plate immediately and I loved him for that! Their love/hate relationship from their childhood added another layer to the plot. It was kind of amusing that Sutton had never figured out that all the "evil things" that young Wyatt had done to her were stemming from his puppy love for her.
All in all, a great small town romance with great characters, steamy sex and the heart and romance to send me back for more!

What if said tiny scrap of underwear didn’t belong to you, but you knew exactly who the owner was? Not forgetting that you were about to send out your wedding invitations…..
This is precisely the situation that Sutton Mize finds herself in at the outset of the new romantic novel from Laura Trentham. The garage is on the opposite side of the river to her own home and is a family business run by the Abbott brothers, all whom Sutton remembers from her childhood. But today Sutton needs to keep her head held high having just realised that fiancé, lawyer Andrew Tarwater is having an affair rather too close to home. So the obvious thing to do on confronting the guilty parties, if you are Sutton Mize, is to say that you have been having an affair yourself with…with…..the man who has just offered you support and comfort. This man is Wyatt Abbott, mechanic.
I don’t want to give away too many spoilers but…..put into the mixing pot the rich girl, daughter of local Judge; the grease monkey attractive, muscled and sensitive; the self absorbed, double crossing lawyer and fiancé; the “best” friend; and a sprinkling of family histories with a run-away mother, a superstition about the family line of Abbott twins and some very extreme weather conditions – you have the makings of a perfect chick lit romance novel!
I love a good old romance as much as the next person, but I always worry that there will be no character development and that the lead figures (particularly the women) will end up annoying me. Not meaning to sound too pompous here, but there are some of those English literature lessons that I can’t shake off! But I am pleased to say that Sutton proves herself to be more than just the pretty faced daughter of the local states man! She is a savvy business woman with a hidden talent that her estranged sister and Wyatt help to nurture and her personality goes from strength to strength. Wyatt also develops through the course of the book and I loved the relationship with his slightly eccentric twin aunts, which ran alongside his with his own twin and brothers.
If you are looking for a book to stick in your suitcase for a great summer read, this could be the one! There seem to be enough a loose ends for the story to continue……Ms Trentham, do you have another up your sleeve?
For me this was a light hearted enjoyable 4 star read!

Leave the Night On by Laura Trentham was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. A betrayal of the worst kind and a fake relationship that becomes so much more.

Sutton Mize finds out her fiancée betrayed her not only with someone else, but with her best friend. How does she know this? Because she knows exactly who she sold those panties too that she finds in his car! When she confronts him, she decides payback is in order and informs him she has been having her own affair with Wyatt.

And so, the shenanigans begin, because Sutton wants to prove this fake relationship to save face. But Wyatt is more than willing to play along. I loved Wyatt. He was so sweet, caring and sexy. A good man with a big heart. He has always been attracted to Sutton and is more than willing to help her out now.

As Sutton and Wyatt begin to spend time together they begin to see how real this can be for them. Even so, there was some drama around being from different sides of the tracks, or river, per se. But it was nice to see them build on what they had and not let others interfere. Though at times Sutton was a bit frustrating as well, with some of her comments or thoughts on Wyatt, but she quickly got passed that once she really saw him.

I do love small town romances and this one fit the bill nicely. This was a fun read. A fake relationship that suddenly becomes less fake with two people who are really nice, sweet and just good together. I enjoyed the story, the characters and am looking forward to reading more of this series.

Wyatt Abbott works with his brothers Mack, Jackson and Ford at the Abbott Brothers Garage and Restoration, a family business. All four brothers own 25 percent of the garage which is located in Cottonbloom.

Today, Sutton Mize drives a red Camero convertible into the garage. Wyatt has not seen Sutton in 18 years when then used to go to school together. She is there to have the interior of the older car redone as an engagement present to her fiancé, Andrew Tarwater. He has been driving the car but it does need a makeover. Sutton and her sister own and run Abigail’s Boutique and Andrew is an attorney in town.

Sutton is cleaning out the glove box of the car and checking for other personal items before leaving the car at the garage. Wyatt is helping her and they find receipts for dinners to expensive restaurants where she has not been with him and - lo and behold - under the seat they find a fancy and expensive thong that Sutton knows belongs to her best friend, Bree. Shocked, she accepts Wyatt’s offer to drive her home while Andrew’s deception sinks in. When Wyatt returns later to see how she is, they hatch a plan to make it appear that they have been having an affair to anger both Andrew and Bree.

As Wyatt and Sutton continue seeing one another, they spark an attraction. Could this be the real thing for both of them?

This is a clever story but somewhat predictable. However, if you like hometown, cozy love stories, this book is just for you.

Leave The Night On by Laura Trentham was a sweet, fun and heartwarming read.

The writing was well done, the storyline kept me turning the pages and I enjoyed watching Sutton and Wyatt's relationship develop.

Wyatt was a sweetheart, I loved his honesty, his big heart and how much of himself he gives to the people he loves and cares for.
Sutton took a little longer for me to like, the more time I spent in her head the more she grew on me.
By then end of the book I had no doubt these two were going to have a long and happy life together.

Leave The Night On introduces us to the Abbott brothers and for me the brothers relationship added to my overall enjoyment. Each brother brings something to the book and I'm looking forward to watching them find their own happily ever after.

In closing, Leave The Night On is a good addition to the Cottonbloom series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all.

This is an age old plot done very well. Sutton is the wealthy daughter of a prominent judge who finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her with her best friend while taking his car to the garage where she is going to have it restored. Wyatt is one of four brothers who own the garage, and he has loved Sutton from afar his whole life. With the humiliation of finding out about the cheating while at the garage, Wyatt and Sutton decide to fake date to keep her from feeling embarrassed to the small community they live in. One of the things I liked about this book was the slow burn to a real relationship. Even when Sutton has insecurities about whether Wyatt truly loves her, it did not feel forced. An enjoyable book and I can see Ms. Trentham continuing this as a series. What I didn't realize is that this is the fourth book in this series and I may have to go back and read the others.

4 “I heard you’re good with your...wrench.” Stars

It's no secret that Cottonbloom is one of my happy places, so I'm happy to pack my bags and head off there at any given opportunity and this time around the series shifts focus from the Fournette siblings to the Abbott's: four brothers, with very different personalities, who joint own the town's garage and vehicle restoration business.

“She was Southern femininity and grace. And he was a grease monkey.“

I'll be honest, I was as nervous going into this after reading the blurb because I'm not a fan of the fauxmance trope. But it quickly became apparent that my reservations were unfounded as whilst Wyatt and Sutton's romance may have an expiry date, the countdown to it is a heated and heartfelt one.

“...she’s going to rip your heart into little pieces and feed it to the gators before she goes back to her old life.”

What made this the story it was was the lack of drama and how the difference in social stature wasn't heavily played upon, as with Sutton being the daughter of Cottonbloom's judge, residing on the affluent side of the river and expected to marry someone of equal stature, and Wyatt coming from the less wealthy side and being less polished, that could have easily not been the case. And this is precisely why I love Laura Trentham's writing because she knows how to create a couple to fall in love with; regardless of their situation.

“I don’t want to think about us being over when we’re just getting started.”

Wyatt was perfect: thoughtful and protective but not overbearing he wears his heart on his sleeve and was attractive all round. Sutton was as frustrating as she was loveable and although early on I could understand her thinking, towards the end I started to want to shake her. Yet she brought many of the more surprising moments in terms of character and there's no question that Wyatt brings out the best in her.

“My fantasies are plentiful and varied.”

All in all not my favourite couple of the series so far but still a strong addition and one that can be easily read if you're unfamiliar with the previous books. I can't wait to see what Laura has in store for Wyatt's twin, Jackson in When the Stars Come Out.

This was the first story I have read by Laura Trentham and I cannot wait to read so many more. This was such a charming, sweet and sexy story. That captured my attention from the first page till the end. I loved Wyatt and Sutton. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them connect and learning about their histories.
Wyatt is handsome, but even more potent than his looks was his intangible confidence and ease with himself. He is sweet, kind, caring, charismatic and such a southern gentlemen when it comes to Sutton. He has been smitten on the sweet, shy, Sutton that had a spark of spirit in her, that he met years ago when her daddy, Judge Mize brought her to their garage.
When Sutton is humiliated, by finding her best friend lingerie in her fiance' car at the Abbott Brothers Garage, she asks Wyatt to help her save face by letting her fiancé think that she has been seeing Wyatt behind his back. But as Wyatt and Sutton soon realize the chemistry between them is sizzling hot!
I loved their flirting and the build of heat they had between them. Wyatt made her feel beautiful and sexy with his naturally sensuous nature and he offered Sutton pure physical pleasure with a sprinkling of hope and laughter. Swoon worthy romance with all the feels. Fantastic, Heartwarming, Southern Charm!

I have read and enjoyed Trentham's work in the past, so when an opportunity to review something new came up, I jumped on it. I was a little concerned when I realized that Leave the Night On was in the middle of a series, but I shouldn't have worried. I had no trouble following the story line.

I love a good Rom Com and Leave the Night On certainly fit the bill. This story was full of feeling, with enough humor and adult situations to keep things interesting.

I enjoy romance as much as the next person, but I get a little squeamish, some might say prudish when it comes to overly descriptive sexy times. Thankfully, Trentham brought us to the brink without making me want to bury my head under the covers. The private moments between Sutton and Wyatt were steamy and sweet and utterly enjoyable.

I loved the rivalry between the siblings as well as the rivalry between the towns on both sides of the river. The brothers were great in their love and support of each other. The problems within the family were absolutely on point and really helped to create drama and interest.

Besides the romance, Trentham has her characters growing by stretching comfort zones, stepping out on faith, and forgiving seemingly unforgivable sins. What looks and sounds like a light fluffy read has an unexpected depth of character and a sweet heat that will have readers coming back for more.

Leave the Night On is the fourth book in the Cottonbloom series by Laura Trentham. This book is an amazing stand alone book. Thankfully, the Cottonbloom series are all stand alone with a new couple each book. Sutton just found out that her fiance cheated on with her best friend when she takes his red Camaro to Wyatt, a mechanic, for a restoration. When Sutton confronts her fiance, she says she has also been in affair with, the mechanic across the river, Wyatt. Knowing that it was a lie, Sutton tries to convince Wyatt to pretend to date her for a while, and of course, he agrees. Through flooding rivers, parties, and confrontations with friends and family can they make this fake dating real.

There are others in the story and having come into this series on the fourth book wasn’t a problem although I do wonder about Cottonbloom and all the people that were mentioned.

What is it about the girl who never fades from memory? That’s the way Wyatt Abbott has always felt about Sutton Mize—going back to when she was a girl—coming by his family-owned garage with her father, Judge Mize.

Back then, Sutton had been so pretty, he’d alternated between fighting his tied tongue and saying something stupid. Typical, but acutely embarrassing.

Even in as small a town as Cottonbloom, their paths hadn’t crossed since. Not that unusual considering he was from the Louisiana side of the river, and she was from the Mississippi side. More separated them than just a body of water and a few miles.

One day Sutton shows up at Abbott Brothers Garage and Restoration in a sweet cherry-red Camaro convertible. She wants Wyatt to restore it to its former splendor: it will be an engagement gift for Andrew Tarwater, her fiancé. Why are all the good ones taken, Wyatt wonders.

Shockingly, when Wyatt and Sutton clear out the Camaro’s glove compartment and check under the seats, they discover a deal more than spare change and fast food wrappers. Sutton’s eyebrows shoot up when she looks at a pile of restaurant receipts from expensive out-of-town establishments, but a “black, very brief lace thong with a red heart embroidered at the hip” stops her cold. When Wyatt says, “Yours, I assume?” speaking “through a clenched, fake smile,” she knows the truth is anything but.

Sutton stared at the lace concoction. From La Perla’s fall collection. Fine Italian lace. Ridiculously expensive for something so small. A special order with the addition of a small embroidered heart to sit at the owner’s hipbone. Oh yes, she was acquainted with the underwear but not intimately acquainted. She’d ordered them through Abigail’s Boutique, but not for herself.

And while Sutton’s mind is racing and her heart is aching—she knows full well who ordered that red thong—who should show up but “her best, Bree Randall.” Bree, like Sutton’s fiancé, is a lawyer and she’d “been Sutton’s best friend since first grade,” and she has a predilection for expensive lingerie and, seemingly, other people’s fiancés!

“Your fiancé and your best friend?”

Put like that, she felt even dumber. “My life has turned into a cliché.”

“It’s a cliché because of how often it happens. Nothing for you to be ashamed of. It’s them that should feel like chickenshit.”

“You don’t understand how people like to talk.”

“I understand, alright. I just don’t care what people say.” The defiant edge in his voice spoke of his own pain and sorrows, but right now she only had room for her own. He was quiet for a moment. “You want me to get rid of her?”

Sutton accepts Wyatt’s help. She’s not up for a confrontation with her erstwhile bestie. Later she marvels at how Wyatt said exactly the right thing to her to help ease her embarrassment. Perhaps that comforting memory is what leads Sutton to blurt out to her fiancé and best friend that she too has been indulging in a little extracurricular action—with Wyatt. Before the gossip starts flying around Cottonbloom ,Sutton asks Wyatt to come over and she fesses up to what she’s done. Wyatt says no problem—he’s happy to be her boyfriend in name only—and the race is on. While Wyatt is visiting, Bree shows up. What’s a supposed-couple to do? Are you channeling Bonnie Raitt right now? Wyatt sure is.

“Let’s really give them something to talk about, shall we?” Wyatt waggled his eyebrows and stepped toward the door.

And here comes Andrew. Wyatt asks Sutton if she wants “to rub it in his face.” Does she? Does she dare?

A kiss right here, right now would be on the edge of wild and reckless. Hadn’t she lamented the fact she was too nice and normal and . . . beige. Yep, that’s what she was. Or even worse, maybe taupe.

Wyatt was all color. His energy, his laughter, his impetuousness. She craved color in her life.

Start your engines readers. How long before pretend becomes profound? Before saving face becomes falling in friendship/companionship/lust/love? The pair has a lot in common.Wyatt notices subtle things: Sutton does too. When Wyatt handsells a Sutton Wize original to one of Sutton’s clients—at a Vera Wang price-tag no less—I knew that they were well on their way to a richly deserved HEA. But enjoy the journey! The public burn on a faithless fiancé, the bliss of discovering that a guy from the other side of the river might be just the person to bring back fun and fizzing passion…Leave the Night On is a hot yet sweet treat to enjoy before August turns to September. Hit the beach and take Sutton and Wyatt with you!

I was hesitant to read this as I had not read the other books in this series but it's not necessary at all. This is a complete standalone.

First of all, I loved the name Sutton and in this book she serves the name well- sassy, sweet and sexy. When Sutton has no clue what to get her fiance for an engagement present her father and his father suggest restoring his Camaro. Being the sweet and obedient person that she is, Sutton takes the Camaro in to the Abbott garage. Wyatt is excited to see Sutton on his side of the river as she lives across the bridge in the society section of Mississippi. Living in Louisiana, Wyatt hasn't seen much of Sutton since they were younger but that doesn't mean that he has forgotten his attraction to her. Surprised that she is engaged, Wyatt shelves his interest and helps Sutton clear out the car so they can start restoration. However, two things soon have Wyatt's shackles up and ready to take the world on for Sutton.

Sutton is leery once Wyatt discovers a handful of receipts for fancy dinners and assumes it's all part of her fiancee's business dealings. However, there is no business dealings that would require the scrap of lace fabric discovered under the seat which just so happens to belongs to Sutton's best friend Bree- as Sutton knows since her boutique special ordered the customized lingerie.

So here starts things I thought were great and then we just ehh about. Sutton's friend and fiancee come to her home as they sense that the gig is up. While trying to save face Sutton says oh well you two have been screwing behind my back because I have been dating Wyatt Abbott. Ugh! I know this was the whole book but still I wanted to Sutton to be bad ass and take those two down. However, I know her ruse to pretend Wyatt and her are together was a defense mechanism and her way to not be hurt by those closest to her. Also,she discovers she very well might not even have liked her fiancee.

Sutton relies on Wyatt to go along with the show and he is all to happy. Wyatt has had a crush on Sutton for years- what she assumed was childhood antics was Wyatt flirting! These two are great together and soon heat up the sheets confirming what she thought she had with her fiancee was nothing.

This fake arrangement becomes entirely real and sexy. Sutton finds herself relying on Wyatt during difficult times and these two were great together.

Leave The Night On is the second Laura Trentham book I've read and I was very happy to return to Cottonbloom, both of them. Cottonbloom is a town that is split by the river that divides it. Set partially in Louisiana and Mississippi, the residents couldn't be more diverse or charming, on both sides. This story focuses on socialite Sutton Mize and the implosion of her heart, and the man that was there to witness the event that made it undeniable, that Wyatt Abbot. What begins with Wyatt helping Sutton avoid a public melt down turns into to something much more.

Trentham leads the reader straight into Sutton's drama and it is harsh. I had anxiety for her from the very moment realization dawns on her. I felt my stomach fall as the extent of the betrayal. Everything about her life is about to change. Some in small ways, but this event will prompt Sutton to try to save face with a lie, and that lie becomes her reality. A new reality that includes Wyatt.

Wyatt Abbot is a man intent in keeping this simple. has a great sense of humor and he's very at ease with Sutton. He puts her at ease, which is something she so needs. Everything about her life of late has put her on the offensive, well at least one big thing. There was something she recognizes in Wyatt almost immediately that made her all the more lovable. In Wyatt's hand she see's " They built things. Fixed things . Put things back together. ", and it's something that been sadly missing from her life. Her chance to create something.

Trentham also touches on an element of trust that has always stuck out to me. When trust is broken, often the human spirit finds it's hard to trust itself, for us to trust ourselves. That's one of the saddest parts of it. But Sutton is a fighter. The story is very much about Sutton learning to trust herself again. Wyatt helps her down the path, but it's something she has to find in herself. Wyatt is such a sweet and adoring man, he was exactly the right man for Sutton and the story line and plot device that helps them there is not entirely unique, but it's done really well.

The secondary characters, the architects of Suttons' heart ache , Andrew and Bree, influence Sutton in a way no one could have predicted. I love how Sutton comes to understand whats she really feels. It doesn't take the sting away, but it helps her to learning about forgiveness. Leave The Night On is a great addition to the Cottonbloom series and a touching and sweet read. 4 Stars and my recommendation.
