This was a very good book. The writing was clear and concise. It was difficult to read at times because the book was about the murder of children. The characters were believable and at times it was heart wrenching to read. The book gives all the feels, sadness, anger, betrayal, but there was also love and devotion.

Since I found out that Max and Lucy would be working on finding Justin's killer in this book I have been looking forward to it. Both are so different, I expected them to but heads pretty hard, not to find a way to work together and even come to admire each other. I was glad that Max quit digging into Lucy's past, granted it came after Sean threatened her, but after getting to know Lucy better Max didn't feel the need. I especially loved the offer that Lucy gave Max at the end, loved that it seemed like these 2 will keep in touch.

I was surprised at how quickly Lucy and Max were able to figure things out with Justin's murder. With the way each thought they were able to play off each other making some big leaps to the next step.

I was a bit stunned with how Lucy's family reacted, hated that Lucy was vilified by most of them, especially her dad. Sure some of them came around, but I have a feeling those harsh words won't be forgotten anytime soon. I both loved and hated that Lucy remembered past moments with Justin, times she made herself forget. Enough time has passed that now Lucy could remember them with it not hurting so much, but she lost so much not remembering her best friend. I don't think the Kincaid's realized how much Justin's death altered them all, but when Lucy laid it all out for the killer it was obvious, and I loved that Lucy showed the killer that their actions had bigger consequences. It will be interesting to see how Lucy's role in this book will affect her career.

Max's involvement in the current crime made me sad. I hated that she had to see her friend hurt.

Another excellent Maxine Revere novel from Allison Brennan. This series just keeps getting better. In this installment, Max is asked by an old friend to help clear his wife who has been charged with the murder of their young son. Max, of course, does not get involved in active cases rather only cold ones. But, there have been three similar murders of young boys over the past 20 years. Are they related? Is a serial killer at work? Or did the wife actually killed her son? And why is the wife vehemently resisting Max’s looking into her murder charge? Max ultimately must work with FBI agent Lucy Kincaid to dissect each of the murderers to seek a connection to the current case as well as to hopefully bring resolution to the previous three. This is a well-written and well-paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the end.

Allison Brennan's Shattered is one of the best of Lucy Kincaid novels. . I'm just now at the half-way mark and I just cannot stop reading each page as fast as I can so I can flip to the next in anticipation of what's going to happen next. Love the dynamics between the characters, Lucy Kincaid and Max Revere. Love the in-depth history of getting to know the Kincaid family and how their pasts directed their future. Allison Brennan never disappoints.

Shattered is the latest story from Allison Brennan which contains both Max Revere and Lucy Kincaid. I am disappointed I hadn't discovered these two characters earlier and read the back stories about them. Without having previous knowledge of these characters I still loved this book and look forward to reading more about them. I was given an early copy to review.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read Shattered. This is my first book by Allison Brennan, and unfortunately, this is a series book. It centers on a reporter, Maxine Revere who is asked to help a friend who's wife is accused of murdering her son.
I think for fans of this series this book is good, but for me it was just ok. This is not because it is not well written; simply because I haven't read this series. It is not really a standalone so for that reason I could not give a higher mark.

When a friend contacts Maxine Revere to try and clear his wife's name for the murder of their son things take a turn and the search for a serial killer begins. With the help of Lucy Kincaid, a relative of one of the victims and an FBI agent the story begins.
This book had me turning pages well into the night. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions and will definitely be reading more about them. I'm hooked. Fans of suspense will enjoy the fast paced read and the story. Enjoyed it very much.

The Maxine Revere series just gets better. In this book The Maxine series hooks up with Brennan's Lucy Kincaid series to investigate the murders of several young boys including Lucy's nephew. Both women learn a lot about family, trust and cooperation during the course of the successful investigation. The ending leaves the door open for a (possibly joint?) investigation into the disappearance of Max's mother many years before.

Maxine Revere, investigative reporter, is contacted by an old friend whose son was murdered. He has found cold cases, that if they match his sons murder, will clear his wife who is charged with murdering their son. Lucy Kincaid, FBI agent is connected to the first case. The family of the first murdered boy won't co operate with Max and the only way to get any details on the first case is for Max to let Lucy work the case with her. An idea she is not wild about.

This book combines characters from two series which might be confusing to some but I didn't have a problem with it. It had a great plot, good mystery and moved along at a good pace. It kept me wanting to turn the pages to see what was going to happen next. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Could not rate this book as baled on it I am afraid. Got quarter of the way through but found it very slow paced and rather than enjoying the book judged wanted to finish it. Maybe it was just me but found it difficult to keep up with characters

This was a suspenseful, intriguing mystery, but I found it very hard to follow. There were so many characters involved in the plot. Maybe if I had read the other books in the series I would have enjoyed it more.

Terrific, involved, murder mystery written with the author's usual attention to detail and humanity

Even though I haven't read any of the books in this series, it was nice that it could be read as a standalone. The author did an excellent job at keeping the reader immersed and having a well thought out storyline. My only criticism would be that there were characters introduced from two different series, which made it a bit overwhelming and hard to keep track of. I found myself having to backtrack to figure out who was who. Overall, this was still a very enjoyable read.

What a great murder mystery. Shattered has a good plot with many twists and turns that kept me guessing. I enjoyed Ms. Brennan's writing.

Shattered by Allison Brennan. In spite of the fact that this book unites multiple characters from two different series (which made a lot to absorb, since I've not read either series before), I found myself engrossed with the plot.

Maxine Revere, an investigative reporter (with her own series), reluctantly becomes intrigued when an old friend requests her help. His wife has been charged with the murder of their young son, and he wants Max to help prove her innocence. He has information that connects three cold cases with remarkably similar elements. If the same person is responsible for the cold cases that match the murder of his son, then his wife will be exonerated.

Max's attention with the first of the cold cases requires her to accept a partnership with Lucy Kincaid, a rookie FBI agent and the aunt of the first murdered child. (Brennan's Lucy Kincaid also has a lengthy series.) Both women are sincere in their search for answers, but trust between a reporter and an FBI agent is difficult.

While I didn't find the plot especially believable for a number of reasons and there were constant references to past adventures from the two separate series, I nevertheless was quickly immersed in the story.

Another five star mystery! I love this series. It's amazing and has phenomenal characters and story lines. This book is no exception.

Max has been called in to help find out the truth about a serial killer by her ex, John, who's wife has been charged with murdering their son. He's found a couple of other cases like theirs and it points to a serial killer and he hopes finding the killer will exonerate his wife, Blair.

As part of these cases, the original one, is Justin Stanton, Lucy Kincaid's nephew. And while his father, Andrew, really wants to know who killed his son almost twenty years ago, he also needs someone with a good, clear head to help him in this decision. Lucy agrees and while Max doesn't want to work with a fed the aunt of the first victim would be a person she just can't let slip away. She must convince her. And she does.

The problem comes in when Lucy's family stonewalls her and her father hurts her. But she cannot let this go. Justin was her best friend. She cannot stand by and let someone else be killed because she didn't do what she needed to to stop it.

The journey this story takes is complicated and surprising to both Max and Lucy. Her husband, Sean, is not happy and has threatened Max if she doesn't stop investigating them and uses anything not pre-approved before writing her story. But what they find pulls them all in together and also causes great pain.

Max also makes a decision regarding her boyfriend, Nick, and is finally okay with it.

A fantastic plot that makes everyone cringe but is very important to find the answers to. This will always be a definite buy for me.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love
I loved reading Shattered by Allison Brennan. Her books always keep me involved and I find myself thinking I might read until the end. This book was especially interesting because she involved Maxine Revere with Lucy Kincaid and her family. The story is a thrilling mystery but it also describes how two very different strong women learn to work together and form a friendship. This made the book more interesting to me

This is the fourth book in the Max Revere series but also has Lucy Kincaid as a main character. I like the idea of combining both series as I really like both characters. Well written mystery and lots of twists

Investigative reporter Max Revere is trying to help a friend prove his wife has been falsely accused of killing their son, but she’s running up against a brick wall. Everyone involved in the case believes they have arrested the right person. But what about the boys who have been kidnapped, murdered in left in shallow graves over the last two decades? Is there a connection? When the aunt of one of those murdered boys, an FBI agent, wants to work with Max to help her uncover the answers, instead of being grateful, Max is suspicious. She wants to crack this case herself, and get all the kudos for doing it. FBI agent Lucy Kincaid needs to solve the case to get justice for her nephew and closure for her family. Can the two women find common ground to bring down a serial killer? I liked the fact that this story had two strong female protagonists that were perfectly capable of taking care of themselves
