Explored what The Riviera Set and its cultural history meant for women in that heyday, in my weekend column for The Globe and Mail newspaper.

I enjoyed reading this biography about the house Château de l'Horizon near Cannes and the famous people who stayed there. Most of the book centers on Maxine Elliott who built the house and her famous guests. The most famous guest being Winston Churchill. After Maxine's death the house was sold to the Prince Aly Khan. While I found the house interesting I was hoping that the book would cover more than just this one area. Many of the other famous names who were living on the Riviera at this time are only mentioned in passing. The book does move along quickly. Enjoy this trip back in time.

From small town girl to celebrity actress. A story of rising to stardom and all the drama that comes with it. Marriages, divorces, and friendships, all come togerher to make this story interestingly dramatic. The lengths that people will go to, to make it in the "in" crowd. Money earned, money spent. Is it all worth it in in end? Fabulously written.
